Multiple comments, including: being young teens and while OP and their sibling were home alone, a man came to their door demanding to be let in and take care of a plumbing issue that was leaking into his apartment below. Their mom later checked with the city who said there was never any leak. He came again when their mom was gone, banging and demanding to be let in. When they told him he couldn’t come in, he flipped out.
