Welcome to Reasonably Shady, a production of the Black Effect podcast Network and I Heart Radio. Welcome to another episode of Reasonably Shady. I am Gazelle Ryan. Where's up, y'all? This is Driving Dickson. Mary Christmas, Merry, Merry Christmas? Did you sign a real one? Did you make that up? Well? I didn't have. I mean, like, that's a real that's that was Mariah care. She just came just saying Mary Christmas married Mary. Can we talk about Maria can work? Yeah? Please? Okay?
You know she's like just performed in concert recently, right, This was like that was last week, yeah, couple weeks ago or whatever. And one of our friends, m Eric, went to the concert. Yeah, and he was posting like all these clips he was at the concert in New York that night. Yeah, he was posting on his Instagram on the stories. And I was tempted to be shady and be like, um, does she sound as bad as I think she sounds? Oh? She sound it bad, like
just from this what I was he posted. Yeah, I was like, this doesn't sound great to me, but that that would be shocking because Mariah, I mean, she's got the vocal cords, right, but you know, as people get older, they kind of their voice changes. The voice changes, maybe I don't know. So anyway, so there's a Whitney Houston movie that's out. I want to dance with some bad Day and anyway, um, the you know, I've seen the majority of it, and the majority of it that's a
whole other story. So anyway, you know, no one can do Whitney. I just want to say that, no in tropy told in those later years Whitney couldn't do Okay, I mean, no, Whitney, she's the legend. But like you know her, when she was in her prime, her voice was untouchable. It was amazing. So you know what's so crazy. I didn't appreciate her at the time because I was never I would say, I was never really a Whitney
Houston fan. I was never a Michael Jackson fan. Um. But now looking back, when I hear her songs, oh my gosh, I took her for granted, for real, because nobody can touch that voice like, nobody like and it makes me kind of sad for music today. I'm just like, where are the singers? Um? I think we've talked. I know we've talked about this before. I know, so we're not going to do that again. But um, yeah I
took her for granted. Yeah yeah, let me tell you who we're not taking for granted because he's been doing the mom and I'm so in love with when he's doing these days. It is Shaquille O'Neil. He is out here in hisstoren spreading Christmas love. He's just rereading love. So I saw this clip, I don't know if you've seen it, and he was in the store or whatever, and this little boy ran up to him as a fan, and he told the boy. He was like, do you know how to ride a bike? And the boy was
like yeah. He was like, go get yourself a bike. Oh my god. So he like bought the boy a bike. He bought the boy like thousands of dollars worth of things. And apparently this is what Shaquille is doing, like all the time, randomly everywhere. Whenever I go to a store from now on, I'm buying somebody else something. Period. Grab your bike. Every day I leave the house, I gotta bless somebody. I can't. I can't keep all this. He is totally he I watched it and I said to myself,
I need to do that. I know, wouldn't it be nice to do that and not necessarily like buy a kid a bike like just something, just something like pay for the people's food behind me or in front of me, Like no, I hate that. You know why why because when you started, it keeps going. Well, no, you say I'm going to pay for the person behind me or in front of me, and that's it what he keeps going. Okay from Okay, first, hold the hell you paying for the person in front of you because they they haven't
rung it up yet. Okay, what what line are we talking about? A drip? No, we're talking about we're talking about like Starbucks, the grocery store, some of the grocery store that I go in that you don't go in anymore because you're you're famous and your celebrity. Well I still never say that, never to the grocery store. Um No, Robin has never said that. She doesn't act like that.
But anyway, I the okay, let me say this, has done that several times for I have paid for people in front of me, but I think I need to do more. You've said just randomly or like was it like their card was declined and you paid for it. They were struggling with it. They were something you know how you see somebody in you and they're like pulling pennies out or they're you know, they're just doing stuff and it's like, okay, it's a problem here. So I've
done that and I paid for people behind me. Um, Like if they have three things, I'm like, I take care of them too. Um. But I need to do more, and Kio has inspired me to do more, especially for the holiday. See so you know, now you're about to get five thousand d M and emails yeah saying hi, yeah, okay, So I don't do that, and I'm gonna tell you why. So I get plenty of d M saying, you know, go fund me, can you help with this? Can you get that? Because I can't see whether or not it's
really really And that's how I feel. And I but if I know something's real, yes I will help out. Yeah, me too, That's how I feel. Like if if okay, so if I see something like a go fund me and I saw it on the news, So if I saw it on the news and the news says, you know, it's like say there was a tragedy, right, Um, and the news says, like, yes, this go fund me is legit and it's being hosted by the you know, you know, if there's some sort of fact checking on the go
fund me, then I'll help, I'll share whatever. But like, yeah, we get so many emails asking for help with the rent, or help or help with the electric bill or um all kinds of Christmas wish list and all the types of stuff, and it's really hard to know whether it's real or yeah, and I need to if I'm giving my my money, I need to know it's real. But
she killed because apparently, I'm sorry. Apparently these people scamming like make millions a month, yes, operation like whole business operations, and there are companies that make millions of dollars, like nine million dollars a month scamming, and I don't. I don't want to be I don't want to be part of that bottom line. It's so crazy. So it's kill. I want. I want to tell you that you have inspired Zell Bryant's and I'm going to do more out here in these streets. But I do beautiful now. I
love that. I do love that, and it's it is. It is a blessing to be able to bless others. Yes, yes, and it comes back tenfold. I believe that now this is last, but not least, And I hope that you guys had a wonderful Christmas if you celebrate Christmas. But this is the holidays. But I always like you know, y'all know, I've said it a million times. I love holiday music, okay, but there's some songs that don't make any sense, Like what what is a partrid? JENNI, pear tree?
What is it? Like? What that? That is a good question? What is that? What is it? What? Partridge? And that a bird? I don't a bird? I thought it was at meal. That's porridge? What is I'm googling this now what Okay? Partridge in a pear tree, in a pear tree, That's that's what it is. It is a bird. I've never seen a pear tree a petrees. So the partridge in a pear tree represents Jesus, the Son of God, whose birthday we what okay, I'm still reading. Birthday was
celebrating on the first day of Christmas. Christ is symbolically presented as a mother partridge, a bird that will die to protect it's young what Okay, So now, nurst, lady, you did not know that I had no clue what a partridge in the pear tree was all if he knows what a partridge? Yes, like, I actually want you to like call him right now. Well, um, now, because we have other things that discuss with jab which is
why are you trying to sell weed? Okay, speaking of Jabal Bryant, And there's women because because they're for the record people. When y'all listen to y'all Christmas music, I want you all to email me email reasonably shady because there's a bunch of songs that we sing and I
don't know what the hell that means. Makes no sense? Okay, but okay, So a couple of weeks ago, y'all know, we had that Jamal Bryant on the episode, and then somebody wrote in, this is Adriana Ford wrote in and she said, for the past two weeks, I've been listening to the podcast from the very first episode. So she was backtracking. Okay, she said, I'm finally caught up in talking her voice again. I'm finally caught up and honestly, I freaking love you guys. Absolutely. He hilarious. She wrote
it like that, dude, he hilarious. This was the perfect idea for y'all too. So today I heard on the radio I'm from Philly, by the way, that Jamal wants to grow a weed in front of his church and sell it. He want to grow the weed. I just want to know what your thoughts are on the topic. I hope you'll be able to hear your response on the next podcast. Keep up the good work. Okay. So the reason why did you think as soon as you
saw okay? And the reason why we are talking about this is because so many people have asked me my opinion on Jamal Bryant and the weed factory. Okay. So he is to know new Birth is to know that it is a huge tell the people who didn't hear it, like what. So, Jamal Bryant, my former husband, is a pastor of the church called New Birth in Atlanta, which is the largest acreage of property for a church in Georgia. Jamal got on a podcast and said, um that he
loves some podcasts. Huh, yes, So he gets on the podcast and he always gets but clearly we're not um. He gets hi stuff into trouble because he said that he, because he has all this land at new Birth, was thinking what better way to reach men to employ there by allowing them to grow the weed that they're selling in the streets at the church, so he could teach them how to be uh gardeners and entrepreneurs. I eat drug deals. Okay, but weed now is legal, so it's
legal in Georgia. Okay, let me just say this is legal. Weed is legal kind of, but not in Georgia. It's not legal in Georgia. Okay. So Jamal Bryant, before you made this announcement, you should check to see whether or not this was legal, sir. Okay. And I have said to him, can you please is it on the ballot coming up like I mean it should be because it just hit our ballot, Maryland's ballot, so it was not
on the ballot of the most recent race. I don't know, but it is all the way live not legal in Georgia. So Jill, Jamal, if you try this, you're going to else, sir. But it is in concept. I think it's a good idea, but it's not legal, sir. And we're not going to teach people how to be illegal drug DEALERSTS Okay. Now, I was, in my former life a drug dealer because I worked for a pharmaceutical company, so I was a legal drug dealer. So I get the people need their
forms of drugs. Yeah, but yeah, yeah, it's too soon, too soon. I mean, it's I think. I think it's funny hearing from a pastor of a church that he wants to grow weed at the church. Right, that's right. There is the word funny or is the word disturbing. It's a little disturbing. It's wild, it's interesting. But but I understood, I understand his intent, which is, Okay, these
guys are, um, you know, doing something illegal. Let's figure out how to help them do something legal right, right, and and make some money, make honest living, yes, and ten percent back to the church. Boom. We all win. Anyway, So as you enjoy your holiday season, get your legal weed, get your smoke on, get your drink on, and have a good old time and be safe, yes and definitely safe. And we will see you all in y'all. Yeah. Sorry,
