Crime. Hello everyone, and welcome back to a minisode of Real Time Crime. And because this is real time, we are coming in hot with an update. I'm one of your host, Leo Lamar, and today I have with me also my wonderful co host, Teddy Mellencamp. Hi guys, Hi Teddy. And of course we have our friend and producer sitting in the corner, Dmitri. Did we add friends of that title. No, we're just a little amped up today, so we decided to throw friend in because we need you to really,
you know, be on our side right now. Okay, guys, the update is that we have just found confirmation of Brian Loundry's dental records. So do you guys think that means his body is with those dental remains? Well, let's take it two steps back. They found skeletal remains yesterday. For those of you who are not in the know,
today is Thursday the twenty one. Yesterday was Wednesday the twenty when they identified skeletal remains, which means the entire body had been decomposed and all they found were a pile of bones. They tented up in the reserve two different locations, so that leads us to believe that either they found evidence like his backpack in his notebook, which somehow we're perfectly preserved and dry for his family to find right right right line, we need to go back
like that. But yeah, so so we're not sure if it means the bones were scattered or there was his backpack in his notebook in one area and the bones and the other. That information we're uncertain of. And of course there is a lot of rumor, uh situations happening. Of course, I've gone down to Reddit rabbit hole and every one saying that they found a skull and that he shot himself in the head. So that's also something to take note of. I'd be surprised if they found
a gun. But now let's take it back three more steps. So, Teddy, do you want to fill us in a little bit on how they were led to the skeletal remains of Brian laundry? Okay, Well, the first thing that I want to point out is Roberta and Chris have been followed mercy like NonStop. They can't even go to the grocery store without media following them. But somehow they were able to get to the reserves without anybody seeing them get
there the day the park opens to the public. After going to a T and T go on, they are able to get to the reserves, walk straight into the park, walk straight to the area and which they find the skeletal remains where I what I saw was that they found the bag, and that one of the other people, one of the other FBI detectives, found the notebook. And it just so happens that after all this time, they
just walked right there and found it. So you're trying to tell me that after the FBI and several cadaver dogs five weeks in, no one was able to find any evidence until his parents hopped in a car and within one hour found all of the evidence and his remains. That's actually exactly what I'm saying. Leah, this is interesting, Teddy, this is interesting. Dmitre. I feel you, I feel your energy in the corner radiated. Really struggling with this whole
thing because it's so outrageous. But did they not say that that part of the park had originally been covered with water? They did, Indeed, they said it was underwater. Now I have another question. If it was underwater, now it's suddenly not underwater. How did they know to just go there, and how did they know it wasn't underwater anymore? Which leads me to another point that has recently been
brought up. So what we had always been told was that the Laundries didn't tell authorities that their son was missing until September. However, today their lawyer said that they alerted authorities on September. So my question is to you, guys, did Brian Laundry every really come home from that family camping trip, the one he went on with Cassie and
the folks and never brought up Gabby. I do think that a lot of times there's too many moments of coincidences in murder cases where everyone and by everyone, I mean the lawyers want us to believe it's just a coincidence, and yet it seems odd. Oh it's like just with the Robert Durst case, Oh, he just happened to be in California when Susan Burman was murdered. California is a quote unquote big state. Let's say that this is him.
Let's say that he did go home after the family camping trip, and that he did leave again, and that their story adds up most in my mind, what I'm thinking happened is they knew their son left, probably to go commit suicide, and that is why they were close mouth.
They just let him go have his piece. That's why they weren't searching for him, because how what other way can you justify as a parent, why you wouldn't be looking for your son unless you knew his mental state was already to the point where you were assisted assisting him in suicide. It's interesting because I saw an interview between Chris Cuomo and their lawyer, Bertolini, and it was uncomfortable.
There was a lot of tension. I think that they I think Chris had previously interviewed him, and the lawyer was kind of firing shots back at Chris during the interview, But essentially Chris was saying, how could you not send a search team for How could you not be part of a search team for your son? How could you not toly go looking if nothing, if your son did nothing wrong? And how could you not send condolences to
Gabby's family? And how could you not want to go be part of that search if you know your son did nothing wrong and this is someone important in your life, And how come they never spoke to anyone, and you know, silence and running usually indicate guilt, and the lawyer is taking a lot of blame for it, and he's just saying, I told everyone to be quiet, I told everyone to do nothing. They just followed why I told him to do. Here's the part that's really and I just have to say,
I'm just so mad right now. Like I feel upset, I feel angry. I want answers. I wanted to be able to hear from Brian Laundry. I wanted to know what really happened. And like the fact that it's ending this way, if it is ending this way, is heartbreaking for so many people. And I'm not even involved, and it's heartbreaking to me as a mother, So I can't even imagine how her family is feeling. Like this is the worst possible scenario. If this is the case, there
is no justice. There's no justice, And I can only assume that his parents, you know, which at least not that this makes it okay, But if his parents knew that he was going out because he was struggling and he just needed to end his life, maybe that's why they didn't help versus you know, he was going to go into his life in prison, you know, whatever it was going to be. And you think that they they assumed that the FBI would just find him eventually. Well,
I don't know. I can't assume. I don't know how long it was taking. I don't know what his master plan was. I don't know how much it shared. I'm assuming they just knew that they were letting their son
go out not in a good mental state. I feel like, you know, allegedly, I remember that when he drove the car to the reserve and they came back to get the car and drive it back, I remember saying there was an I remember them saying there was a note, and I would just be interested if that was a true and my memory serves me right, and be what
was on that note. But also if I think the thing that's kind of rubbing me the wrong way, besides the ease with which the parents found his body and the evidence, I think the thing that's rubbing me the wrong way is not only is there no justice for Gabby, but I feel like we have not been clued into all the evidence. And there has been so much media around this case, and yet there are still so many questions that are left unanswered, you know, and and I
feel not that we deserve answers as well. You know, this isn't our niether, These aren't our children, These aren't our friends, these aren't our family members. We don't really know these people. But for better for worse, this story did Captiva in America and finding Gabby's body helped find nine other people in the area that had been missing, and that provided a lot of um answers for other families who were missing loved ones, you know, and it's and now I we still have a lot of questions.
We want to know what happened. We want to know how he left her body. Um you know, if he left it so that it was easy for them to find her, if he tried to hide her body, if he was responsible for other murders, as many people are saying they think that he's a serial killer. They are curious to know, you know, is there still ink in his notebook? But if it was underwater, wouldn't the ink be gone by now? You know? There's just we have a lot of questions about the whole case, and it
has been mysterious from beginning to end. So many plot points are missing. How did the FBI just let him slide from under the radar and leave the house, you know, when he was quote unquote under surveillance. I mean, they're just I think he was. I mean, I don't want to say it was handled poorly, but it just seems bizarre that they could just let him slip through their fingers. And let's also say this, let's say that this is him.
What are your guys thoughts on Chris and Roberta. Do you think they now deserve the chance to to grieve or do you think and do you think the protesters should stop in front of their house or do you think media should be following them? Do you think they should be giving a statement? Like where are your heads
in regards to this? I mean, because also something that we haven't really talked about is we don't really know Brian Laundry is like backstory, like what he has personally struggled with what we don't know, Well, we know he's struggled with anger issues and control issues, right, but we don't know what kind of mental illness or any of
those types of things. We have no idea And because of his parents, the only thing that we know is that Gabby has talked about herself having O c D. She said that on which we don't even know is true or not, But she said that on um when they got both got pulled over. But we don't know where they both were mentally, and not that any of that justifies it, but we don't know the long time
struggle that might have been occurring. I think if they tried to cover it, if they helped cover it up, then they're allowed a lot less than I would normally allow. Grieving parents will cover up him running away or covering
up him committing suicide. What if they covered up any of this and made this more difficult for the FBI or whatever it may be, or helped him escape to do that, whatever it is, if they assisted and gave wrong facts or purposely by the way, while her body was out there before we had found it, they were not cooperating with anything. So if they are complicit, if they did know about some of this, they are allowed
a lot less than I would normally allow grieving parents. Well, while we're in the middle of this conversation, I just received a text message and it says I feel like there's a conspiracy here and that his parents planted evidence literally, what does it say about our society that we all do not trust the FBI and that we think that there's a conspiracy. I mean, what do you guys think that there's a chance that this is just his teeth. He knocked him out and he's still on the go.
We didn't We don't even know how many teeth. If it's a full jaw, no, but if it's just a couple of if it's a finger in a toe and a couple of teeth, we have questions. Yeah, here's where I have problem deciphering because I'm angry as a just as a human being, but as a father and stuff like that. I'm angry. And if he did what we think he did to Gabby with strangulation that I've been angry since that news came out because that is not to paint a horrible picture, but I'm sure we've all
thought it. That is ending someone's life, watching them take their last breath as your control, right, so you're not allowed to go kill yourself after that. It's it's it's as cowardly as it can get. So anything would be would not surprise me at this point. Could this be staged? Yeah? Because everything is so weird, And granted it's not with the FBI doesn't os explanations and updates on on evidence
and what they found in this net. So we're piecing it together with what we have and with TikTok and with Twitter and the news. So yes, it seems anything could be could be plausible at this point. Well, Redd told me they found a skull, but I haven't seen it reported on any mainstream news source yet that they found a skull. Have you guys seen that. I haven't seen it either, And I've been looking every like all the night there and I can't. Teddy is the best
student that is like, kids, speak yourself. I'm like, guys, no, guys, even we're trying to schedule this podcast for right now. They're They're like trying to pick a time. I'm like, this is the best time for my kids schedule, guys. I can bribe them with iPad, I can really focus. I mean bribe them with iPads. They only get one hour a day, so I got to really figure out
the right time. I feel like, if and when I have children by that time, I'll have to bribe them with n F T S. I'll be like, Okay, Mommy, we'll give you an n f T if you'll be quiet for an hour, because I don't even know what is an teddy. This is a story friend of day Oh, let's reel it back in. But um, I mean I could take us into the metaverse real now I can't. Is this cryptocurrency? I'm out? Yeah, back to your question, I'm having trouble deciphering. Like I. Part of me wants
it to be a stage thing one. Obviously the drama of it is pretty crazy. But part of me wants it because I don't want him dead like that. I don't want him to get the easy way out. If he did this, then he he should have to face whatever it is he has to face. He should not take. He should not be allowed the easy way out. So part of me is angry in hopes that he's alive. I've never wanted somebody again. I know the lawyers are gonna have a field day with this if he he
allegedly did this. If he did this, I think he should be alive. I've never wanted someone that I want dead alive more than I do right now. But I think we also just need so many more answers. We need you know, not only on him, but also on Gabby. We still don't even have a full toxicology report. We still don't know if there were traces underneath her nails anything. I think the question a lot of people are asking or what exactly were the remains? What exactly did they find?
Because I think that would answer a lot of our questions. Right if they found a full skeleton, I think that would answer some questions. But if they just found, like I said before, a finger, a toe, a couple of teeth, that that doesn't feel good for a lot of people. It feels a little bit too coincidental. And I think everyone wants to believe that there is a much larger story of play and that there's thing darker happening. Here, is something a little more sinister, and you know, I mean,
I'm I'm I'm deeply disturbed by this. And I can only imagine the documentarians who are just getting ready to
release their Netflix talks about this. But I think that with every murder case, there's a conspiracy allegedly allegedly, no, but that's true, right, Like with a Lisa Lamb and the Hotel Cecil everyone, you know, there were it could have been someone inside the hotel who murdered her, or the manager, or she could have played the elevator game that was a Korean game that took you to another dimension, or right, everyone has a conspiracy versus the truth, and
I think that a lot of times in these sorts of cases, we don't get to know the full truth, and we never will know the full story. And so if Brian is actually dead, we will never know what happened that day. But but sometimes conspiracies are away for us to avoid what the truth really is. And the truth is sad, and the truth is hard, and sometimes the truth is just the truth that this was a sick individual that took somebody's life and then took his own.
That could potentially be the story. I I tend to think that that's true. I think that conspiracies help us avoid the truth. I know that my favorite conspiracy is that all men in Los Angeles are undateable and that's why no one will date me um instead of the truth, which is that I have issues I need to look at. You know, is there anything else we need to cover before we clear out today? Because if not, I know
Daniel is going to say we went too long. So we know that we found remains and that this area had previously been underwater because the swamps, the levels of water there rise and fall all the time, and that it's super humid, super hot, super muggy, and that there are alligators infested in the area. There are snakes there, so I mean that could be part of the reason why the remains are skeletal. And they didn't find any tissue, because is it possible that he was eaten by animals?
But so an alligator spits out the bones? Next week with Teddy and alligators, I mean, I don't have the answers. I'm not a gator expert. Well, we'll get back to you guys on that next week as well. Something to think about sometimes, something to really wrap your head around as you're going to sleep tonight. I think that we can end knowing that on this minisode we are getting
partial remains and partial closure. We feel as if we don't have all the answers, and that's partially because a lot of us are attached to this narrative and we don't want the story to end like this, but we may not get the story that we wanted. We're going to get the story that has happened, so more we'll be revealed. I'm sure we will talk about it again on the next podcast episode. This has been real time crime, and we'll see you for a full episode next week.
It's real time crop it real time groan. It actually real time crime. I'm solving anything or is that just the thing we say? It's a thing we say, got it? Okay, see you next week for more real time crime, only on i Heart Radio.
