Episode description

When it comes to deploying an identification system the focus is typically on the technology and not the legal aspect of a system. While this is a cutting edge area of law it's starting to get some attention. Tom Smedinghoff, a partner at Wildman Harrold, is chairman of an American Bar Association Task Force (http://www.abanet.org/dch/committee.cfm?com=CL320041) that is exploring the legal issues around identification. Smedinghoff spoke with Regarding ID Editor Zack Martin about this area of law, what his task force is working on and commented on the federal government's efforts to secure online transactions for consumers (http://www.secureidnews.com/2010/04/01/white-house-wants-online-authentication-standards).
