elevated mind state. I can't Lose the crime rate, though I know the crime pay Gotta do it my way. Welcome to Episode 0044 rawness of I'm your host, Kevin Stop! And today I have the privilege to sit down and chat with P. K J P. K is an extremely talented artist in Pittsburgh region. He has a unique perspective and showcases his authenticity and all he does. Listening to hear how he challenges anxiety, talks about the best sushi in Pittsburgh and opens up about inner question. Why me? But enough from me. Here's a peek. A peek. A How has your upbringing shaped who you are today in the manual be tomorrow. I
spk_0: 0:46
said, just, you know, maybe more around it. Like I'm more ableto get my shit together. You know, cousin on this
spk_1: 0:54
you can if you'd like to. Uh,
spk_0: 0:55
yeah. I mean, I'll bring it was more so, like, I want to say like, tougher. But, you know, just like my mom and dad is still a lot of like driving me to know that I'll get through any type of situations, you know? I mean, try to keep a positive outlook on because I've seen them go to start that no. Probably would've broke me down, but, you know, they made it through. So and they taught me a lot of love. So, you know, I mean, how did they teach you, love Just loving me and let me know that I'm anything. I'm going through this, okay? And I'll be okay. They showed me a lot of definitely was hard on me at times, but more loved in being tough on. So, yeah, it made me be a better man. Just know giving love the others.
spk_1: 1:35
Okay, given love, that was awesome. So I noticed You have ah, to to to get to you. And it's above your left eye. Yeah. Could you tell us a little bit about the background of the tattoo and what it means to you?
spk_0: 1:47
Yeah. So I'm into Ah, numerology. The number two. I see it everywhere, you know? I mean, and it's even down until, like, my birth date, Like my birthday is February 20 seconds. So they just always been around, like, even since I was a kid. But growing up, I would see you like to do on the license plate. are always on the clock, like just kind of like seeing 11 11 and stuff 12 12 seeing them numbers floating around. But any time I see the 2 to 2 around, it's just like a reinsurance that I'm all right. Like they call them like angel numbers, you know? I mean, so it's like that type of that, you know? I mean, so whenever I see the 22 to this, always a good look,
spk_1: 2:21
Would you say that to to to kind of connect you back to your roots in a way? Mmm, because that's what I derived from when I first heard
spk_0: 2:28
right. I want so much connected to my roots, but I feel like it's like a part of the I just feel like it's a note from stuff we can't see like that out. You know, like that I don't want a higher ups, but you know what I mean? Just like angels. And like those those people that we got around, you know, I mean, like, just let me know I'm okay like reinsurance. I wasn't connected to the roots. I think that's more. I think the tooth in two's more spiritual type of thing.
spk_1: 2:53
Okay, I like that.
spk_0: 2:55
I think it's more to my mind a little. Yeah, I think it's more spiritual than anything.
spk_1: 2:59
So I heard you talk about how you, uh, prefer melodic music over rap and hip hop. Could you talk about why you prefer melodic over rap and hip hop
spk_0: 3:08
growing up here and more melodic music than any logic? Yeah, I like that type of music more than just right, you know what I mean? Because, you know, like my mom would be playing a lot of R and B in the house and my dad, he's a gospel singer. So I watched him and connoisseurs growing up and he'd be singing and they will be harmonizing like the group will be harmonizing and I don't know, I just like it just was more pleasing than me, like rap is cool, but it's just kind of one thing, like so I like the melodic sound of it, like hear melodies are through it like I just like hearing harmonies and that shit's cool. So
spk_1: 3:44
why is it more of an accomplishment to write your own songs rather than have ah, ghost writer writing for you?
spk_0: 3:51
Probably because you feel like you did it rather than wait for my Els doing the work causes like, How could you take the credit for some? I mean, to each his own like So I guess that's how the game works because, I mean, that is somebody's job to write songs. But you feel more accomplished. Like when you did you do it yourself like this. Me like I'm the one who did it. I'm the one who wrote it. I'm the one who said It's all me Yeah, I just feel like that's what
spk_1: 4:15
have you Have you used a ghost writer in the past? No, No, that's cool.
spk_0: 4:19
Everything. And I come from me. Come on. My me writing it.
spk_1: 4:24
Can I ask you about lyrics that you're It's okay. Cool. So, I actually, I was listening to your song with Benji. I won't forget the period, period. Uh, I was listening to it. And waterfall. It's a new song you guys wrote, and as I was listening to it, I was like, Wow, this is like, this is really good, Like I really enjoyed it. And I was looking up. I looked up online for the lyrics and I couldn't find the lyrics. So I went through second by second. I wrote down your lyrics like listening Thio because I really wanted to break it down in the meaning now, now that I did that kind of give me a little perspective on Like what? What it meant. But it's only my perspective. So I want to hear your perspective on this specific like section of all men. Okay, so you go oppositions study switching I'm just playing it more lock My vision can't be slipping standing on my toes Elevated mind state I can't lose the crime rate though I know the crime pay Gotta do it my way Fuck about the fame neither. Yeah, I can't let my time ways Yeah, I can't see you bitches bitches either Get that blind date. Yeah, yeah, and I really like I liked it. So could you talk about it? Which part?
spk_0: 5:41
That I was a whole lot
spk_1: 5:42
of Let's break down the front of it. Get it?
spk_0: 5:46
Get it. Braga Doses Wait! Oh, this part right here. Opposition. Steady switching. I'm just playing a more so with the opposition study switching. I'm just playing the more like you know you got a lot of friends and people not friends because my friends are cool But our positions they'd be switching sides So I'm planning more like switching sides. I'm planning I'm playing I'm playing him or you know I mean, you got playing everything up locked my vision Can't be slipping Standing on my toes I'm focused King slips on my toes I'm focused I'm locked in the morning Elevated my stay. I can't group boost the crime rate Elevated mind statement Many states on another level, then just the lower the lower realm of things. So, like, I'm trying to boost the crime rate. That's lower minded stuff. Yeah, I'm on the elevated Mount ST so I'm trying to level up. Though I know the crime pay. You gotta do it my way. Get dirty out here. You could get some money but dying my way to do it, so I gotta do it my way. Fuck about the fame either. Self explanatory. I can't let my time wait. I can't see you bitches either get ahold of blind date Didn't show up. I got time for
spk_1: 6:45
today, okay? Yeah, and I really I really appreciated the song because it shows that you can that you, for one, you adapt. You know what I mean? Like like you're not just one style. You're your own style. Yeah, and and
spk_0: 6:57
that's cool. I kind of think that's a problem sometimes. To the
spk_1: 7:00
being your own style.
spk_0: 7:01
No, just not having one Stout. Like that's just something battling right now. Like, I don't know if that's dope or not. When it come to me, I'm not just one type using. When you go to artist, you know what you're going for. Yeah, like if you want to look up for decent, like, you know, you're gonna get some type of light.
spk_1: 7:17
He's one of your big one of your apology. Yeah, It's
spk_0: 7:21
like if you were certain orders. You know, like, when I go look up that person, I'm gonna get this type of ab, like for me. I just feel like I got so many sights to myself that I don't got one stone like, yeah, right. It is cool. But, you know, sometimes, like everybody so small minded, I don't know, I just feel like it might be ordered for people searching for the music.
spk_1: 7:43
I look at that. And I think you can adjust yourself to what society? And that's
spk_0: 7:48
why I keep, like, I was dirty times. I'll be telling myself like, Nah, bro, you should, uh, try to get one style and stick to it. But I'm like, not like I'm going to make it work my way. You
spk_1: 7:58
gotta be in
spk_0: 7:58
versatile being complex, having different styles. Like I'm gonna make it work that way. Yeah, that's what you get when you listen to me like you might get some sad shaking like some happy shit. Might get some weird shit. You might get some Whatever. Yeah,
spk_1: 8:11
I always say this to myself. I'll look in the mirror and I'll say BU nobody's better than you.
spk_0: 8:16
There you go.
spk_1: 8:17
And if you try to be someone else or you try to switch up your style to just be something that you're not, then you're style won't come out naturally will be prevented. Exactly. So
spk_0: 8:27
people could hear that now It's like we were in the time now where people could hear, like, if you ain't being authentic, self like you trying to, like, lean towards a type of ste. Our type of wave like a bike. You hear that? No. Just cause so much. It is the same. You know
spk_1: 8:42
something? I know we all deal with its anxiety and you've open out. You've opened up about it a little on in the past, and you actually said you don't really deal with it much anymore. I I don't know if, like, you could just, like, push it off, like you know what I mean? Like, I personally like, I wish I could say that maybe it's true for you, but I just want to know. So how do you deal with anxiety in the moments you're supposed to enjoy? I
spk_0: 9:09
still do. Do anxiety. What I was saying that I don't deal with no more is depersonalization. That's like a former anxiety like that. I wouldn't I wouldn't even wish that. Don't nobody like I don't care what you did. Like I still wished I don't nobody. But that part is like when you get so stressed out that thought just going so crazy that it make your, uh I don't know that just make you your brain go nuts broken because the lighter Yeah, bro. But it make you feel like you're not in your body like it make you feel real out of body, like, really far away, Like I'm kind of looking through the glass like it's like, you know, it's the weirdest thing ever brought. Dealt with it for, like, two years, but I don't deal with that no more. But I make videos on YouTube about that specific type of anxiety because I know people out there are doing with that and they don't know what it is or what. I didn't know what it was until one of my friends told him, and I was I thought I was going crazy and he said, I don't like this When I was like 16 soon I heard that I felt way better. But as far as the anxiety go, I still get anxiety like before shows. Or if there's personal, sit inside my brain in him that I'm dealing with it like it's mine might not be as bad as others, but I just feel like for so long I got good at, like, masking. If something was wrong with me, like it's still my show on my face or like people who really know me don't know, like so I'm probably wrong with him. But, you know, I just tried my hardest to like that. I like time. Video games. You got me. I was like, if you got anxiety, you gotta have something that you could do. Like, you know, like I was outlet. If it's sports, are you gonna play basketball? If you want to run around watching sports if you like paying if you like singing, rapping Even when I rap like when I'm in a blue file really be Is this all about me? Like I'm having fun when I rap like I just anybody dealing with anxiety just get active like that's what I would do. You get active,
spk_1: 10:58
get active and something that you enjoy your passionate or even fast and loose. There's some fun
spk_0: 11:04
get active. But don't sit in the crib for a little bit. Sit in the crypt. Do whatever you do is you could feel what you want to feel like If you feel sad field I should all the week If you feel mad, fill it all the way. But don't sit there complacent like that and, you know, just let that you gotta get active. You gotta go
spk_1: 11:21
be active. Stay out. You hit a little bit about how you play video games. Yeah. You have a Twitter account, right? Turn up. Yeah. And you mainly play madam, right? Yeah. Okay. No Zebra knows, man. Goes right now. I feel like I could beat you. A You You just said that we could have bought the consul here. The interview out of the shit out of you. While you're doing the interview, we'll see we're gonna hit you back up in, like, three months, six months and get you back on. So we could do that. Yeah. I'll bring the station and two sticks. And that s O. B. Could you talk about, like, what? Motivated You want to get a Twitter account into? Like, like, most like, I It kind of comes into your personality when you're like, Well, I switch it up. I don't really follow what you expect. Yeah, you know. So that's kind of what I'm getting at here. We talk about it.
spk_0: 12:12
Yeah, I do like to just do different stuff then, like, ain't nobody doing, but I just feel like a lot of my life followers is more active one. Gaming and sports, like a lot of my followers, is into all of that type of stuff. So I don't want just connect on the music vibe like I get kind of boring just putting out music and trying to interact with people do music. So I just want to interact with him, like come through the last room. People talk, sit on their way. Just be having fun, making jokes like I mean, sometimes nobody will be in there, but there's always at least 56 days in there that come check me out sometimes. But one time I did an MBA to occasionally my 200 years in there, bro. Yeah, with the night took a, uh, to gain 19 drugs, and I was the only one. For some reason I got okay. 19 aught of E books got paid $100 for the beat for the V books, but nobody else is loaded. So, like I was like me Hubble, the live stream and everybody was just Inter bro's cracking. It was fucking cracking broke, but I'll be down to play with anybody people d m e all the time and be like like I just got a message last night. Somebody told me there's a big fan and they wanted to play for a night with me. But I don't really be trying to do that too much because like I would, I would rather just run like one or two games with people and didn't get back
spk_1: 13:23
to four nights. Pretty like you could get sucked in a
spk_0: 13:26
year, bro. That's what I'm saying. Like and I got my I got my hitters that I that I rolled it well, One of the main reasons why I wanted to start streaming. I just was beating on people. Too much filmy zebra, just being a little people to lunch. And I was like, Let's get it. Let me start streaming this. I like putting the clips up. Yeah, just showing what I was doing. Some horseshit.
spk_1: 13:46
So So what's your style of my own? I'm just playing
spk_0: 13:48
know about secret. I'm going on Lucy.
spk_1: 13:52
All right, that's us out. For those who listen to your music, what would be one takeaway you'd want them to have? Asli Conover Jing theme.
spk_0: 14:01
I was saying emotion like just emotional motion. That would be the thing I wanted to take away. All right. Just do it. Really be filling it like you. Whatever that emotion is, he fill it like these, going through some shit. We feel it like fed up. That's a song where I was just singing my heart out on that joint for me talking my I was fed up and I wanted to get more of a like people. Well, send me a video. I'm listening and talking. My, like you to help me get through the day like this with my motivation is my early morning motivation. So
spk_1: 14:34
does that motivate you more?
spk_0: 14:35
It made me want to make more shit to help people get through whatever they are they doing with you. I would just say that would be the thing. Emotion, like Happy turn said Frustrated like that. Emotionally come out emotion. Yeah.
spk_1: 14:49
What's it was a strong issue motion. What's the strongest emotion that you feel throughout the day,
spk_0: 14:55
huh? I say it makes ah, pride, anger and having this my anger be stronger than the happiness. But I'd be I'd be happy. For the most part, I'll be having fun. So, like, yeah, fun anger,
spk_1: 15:11
I I used to, uh, I used to battle a lot with angry, so I definitely can't Really?
spk_0: 15:16
Yeah, ain't no thing like there was nothing like this situation. And he was telling me a little more before we started this. Like, just what you was doing with, like, my shit ain't really on that level. I just got a lot of light anger. It let you know you'd be mad at the world. Like, why is it why do that? Why did the world work like this? Where there is life like this? Like, that's what I be
spk_1: 15:34
I get that I have, like, a bunch of journals on in the journals. I rent my ideas down on rides like and one day I So I've torn both mind seals, and I've only gotten surgery once, so I couldn't have the tornado at the moment. And I was thinking about it one day. I was really in my thoughts. I was very angry, upset, and I wrote this thing. I said, Why me? Why does this happen to me? And then I took a step back after I wrote that, and I was like, If if this is happening to me, there's a reason you know that I am. I'm on this. I'm on this planet to make more of an impact. I'm on this planet to to have more of a relation with people, to have an impact, to be something more s o. I don't I don't look at it. Like, Why me? I look at it. Why not me? Yeah, Okay. You know, fuck. I
spk_0: 16:29
feel that way to something like that. Like
spk_1: 16:32
that. And that really helped me. You know, I But writing my thoughts on that causes
spk_0: 16:36
like when I mean, I could take this. You don't do it
spk_1: 16:39
exactly. Yeah, I'm strong enough to handle it. So bring it on him. Yeah.
spk_0: 16:44
I mean, like that.
spk_1: 16:46
Thanks. Thanks. Gotta keep your mind rate elevated. Majesty. Elevated monster. Yeah, Back to a wonderful check. That out to waterfall
spk_0: 16:55
you. Minutes every were streaming everywhere you go. Cop that for me. Out. Me and Benji Benji made to be true about you with a period it don't forget that may be, but maybe todo corazon and everything, right?
spk_1: 17:11
So? So if you could go anywhere in the world for five minutes and I'm talking about just five minutes. Your time's up and you snap back to reality. Where do you go? Tokyo. Okay, I
spk_0: 17:22
checked five. I like sushi, and I like the culture that Yeah, in like, a lot of video games over that way, maybe Tokyo is not the right place in Japan. I don't I don't really know that
spk_1: 17:34
somewhere in Japan.
spk_0: 17:34
Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, I was definitely over there. Usually. Eat up. Get a mill,
spk_1: 17:41
you big sushi guy. Yeah, love. Where is the best sushi in Pittsburgh? Mm e Just a lot of people off with this question would make him happy. I just
spk_0: 17:51
checked out a spot out Midnight. Wrote called McKnight Kitchen. It's great sushi. Well, that's probably is that broke Sushi. Toma Nyro, Sushi, sushi, Tomoe. They got good sushi and ah, I like the common sushi people. Some people, I really like their season there. We gotta get lunch specialty, in fact. And And you get a good deal in the sushi during lunch to my heart to do that today. But I really only like spicy tuna for over. I tried everything almost, but I like spicy tuna. Like what? The crunchy Shouldn't it? I don't know that's called.
spk_1: 18:26
I've no idea. I just I eat it. I don't really know what I'm eating. I'm like, Yeah, this is good. I don't know what it is.
spk_0: 18:33
And I need the dill sauce too. That's what makes
spk_1: 18:35
yeah, that's that, like orange saw.
spk_0: 18:38
This is you being tried it. It's like dark brown, but it's not. So he saw, but it's a little sticky and gooey.
spk_1: 18:45
What's it called? Some place
spk_0: 18:47
called sushi sauce. Okay, fill me on learning.
spk_1: 18:50
Gonna ask. I'm gonna ask. That's
spk_0: 18:51
real Sorry. I don't know what you're talking about. Say sushi saw and then, yes, but that's why we'll go somewhere in Japan.
spk_1: 18:59
Yeah. Yeah. So what What's like one thing? If you could just get anything off your chest to your listeners, what's one thing you say to them right now? It would be motivating. Could tear him down. It could do anything, you know?
spk_0: 19:12
And I say you just keep it going on. This whole experience is such a mystery. Excites like keep it going. Yeah. I don't know. You never know what it is. I just know we are got something to do here, so maybe you'll figure it out. Maybe you won't. But it's all part of the grand scheme of everything, so just keep it going. That's
spk_1: 19:34
okay. You don't necessarily know what you're doing. You have the time. I was talking to Ah, really, really influential broadcaster. She's been in the broadcasting industry for 15 years, and she was talking to Mike, our production manager over here, and I and she said before you put out this podcast, remember this You don't have to aim your gun, get it just right and fire, right? Grab the thing from the hip and to shoot that. Let it let it fire. You know, you took a shot. Exactly. Exactly. At least you're at least you're keeping it going exactly like I keep going. Okay. What is the rawness of reality mean to you?
spk_0: 20:22
Keeping a really, all the way all the way? Real like no faking it, Mo cap is everybody say now, keeping the real out here in the everyday life like I live in. I just keep it all the way through shots, our own issue,
spk_1: 20:38
anything coming up in your life that you want to tell people about that they should check out.
spk_0: 20:42
We got a show next week. March 22nd at illegal on the south side. We've got some dough artists coming through me and Pez. Ybor and D J spills. And we got a lot of artists on there from the city.
spk_1: 20:55

spk_0: 20:57
a clothing store on the south side. So they throw a couple events here and there. But they got some dope closing there. So, you know, I mean, guys, everybody to go check him out, support the local local brands, Local business. Yeah, but we're gonna pack it out and go crazy in there. Like we got a little bit together right now, but I am really documented, cause some of the songs has already done so I'm just shelling them out. And some of the songs I am recording, like, as the days go online, So but I just feel good because I'm putting someone's out there that I was sitting on for too long. Yeah. So, like, that's why I feel good.
