You're listening to the Ravens Press Pass podcast. It is Friday, October eleventh. The Ravens are gearing up for Sunday's game at M and T Banks Stadium against the Washington Commanders, and today we heard from head coach John Harbaugh.

Speaker 2

All right, great to see everybody here. We sure appreciate you being here. Beautiful day for practice, beautiful day for everything. Just to shout out to our friend Rachel Yaffi and she goes through some some hell things that she's dealing with, and our prayers are with her that God would heal her completely. We pray that what question do you have?

Speaker 1

All eyes are.

Speaker 2

One this game, but you hope We were talking a little bit about Tampa. Do you think about it or try to gage anything about you know, the upcoming game of whether it's going to change anything, or have you heard anything about that. I haven't heard anything. I'm trying to gauge Allison's apartment complex right now because we don't really have word. We know the power is still out. We don't know if they're underwater or whatever, if they

give the car. She got a car down there, so we're hoping not underwater, but so we got two things going on there. We don't know much about either at this point. You've been really good inside the red zone. Obviously got Derek henry Wood anything dress, don't skim back or anything to be so successful that Yeah, probably all those things tought to me. You know, being good in the red zone usually does start with running the ball.

It does go next probably you know you got to block people and protect, but goes next to scheme for sure, because you know, it's kind of a different kind of a scheme game that get downer because things happen so much faster. And thirdly, it ends up being about extended plays, which we've been good at as well. So all three of those areas our offense is doing a real nice job. You got to try to keep it going.

Speaker 1

Going on with that.

Speaker 2

Yesterday you asked me munking about the red zone. We talked about how the packful. The discussion ars after the one in the game where you said you guys are just trying to win a game when to make field goals off. We just need to talk a bit about that conversation if you remember that from last year and won the game, and just what kind of was the proposit that discussion. Yeah, it seems like that's the century ago. I don't remember, don't remember the conversation that well, probably

had one, you know, and we didn't. We'll kick the field goals if we have to, but we sure we want to score the touchdowns. I do remember. Also, if if you remember, we were coming into that game, we were coming off the Pittsburgh game where we had the disappointing loss to Pittsburgh, and we we had something. We had a we had a team meeting in the in the chapel there at the at the resort we were at.

It was an old basically an old monastery seminary kind of the type of thing, and they had a beautiful chapel and we called it the U the Chapel of Truth because we had to put some truth out there about how we were playing and what we needed to do to go ahead and get right, you know. So I remember that meeting. So there's a lot of meetings. Yeah, John O fill years out of elevations. Do you anticipate our lead to see is this his time? Because I

know you need a number three back right. Definitely a possibility. I practiced full. So we'll see where we see where we.

Speaker 1

Go with that.

Speaker 2

We have a plan and it'll be obviously announced, you know when we get to Saturday with the reporting of the elevations and all that. Hey, coach, I know that Pittsburgh is probably your main rival, But because Washington is better now than they've been in the past, and because of proximity, could this be sort of a budding rival where you may be more so between the fans and the teams because you guys don't play each other then, Mark, Yeah,

I mean, I don't know. It's really fun. I mean I feel I'm sure that everybody's excited in the region, you know, the d mvuh. It's it's cool. It's fun. I mean, that's what it's about sports is to have fun, you know. For the fans, I mean, we we take it as life and death and and to us on a given day it kind of feels like it is. But in the end, it's it's a it's a great distraction. It's a great thing to have fun with. I hope people have a great time around the Ravens, you know,

and the Commanders and everybody else in the league. I hope they enjoy it. I hope it's something that gets them, you know, gets their mind in a different place sometimes and they can enjoy it. So to whatever extent that is, that's great for us. It's a rivalry because it's our next game. We do respect this team. They're very good, we're playing it and they're tough, physical outfit, you know, so we're looking forward to the challenge of that and we'll be ready for it.

Speaker 1
