Welcome into Ravens Press Pass. The Ravens loss to Cleveland Browns thirty three to thirty one at home, let's hear from head coach John Harball about the loss.

I'm proud of our guys.

I thought we played very hard. We fought, we competed, but we did not play well enough. We did not play kind of winning football that we need to play to win a game like that. Different situations, all three phases and the coaching staff. So we got to put it behind us. And it's a long season in the NFL. You have games like this, You do lose games like this in this league, and we've got to bounce back

He went away from Keaton Mitchell.

Uh later in the game after uh an explicity the first quarter.

Was it just do to play calling in the game situation or is he dealing with any injury or anything?

No, just kind of the way it went. As far as the play calling. It wasn't a part of the plan or anything like that.

And uh so Marlon blog and people can't even not return any feats.

I don't have any updates on that right now.

What what were they doing?

It seemed like the middle of the field defensive plate was giving it in trouble.

There's guys open.

Was there anything pacific they were doing there?

Yeah, we didn't play our our s our s specific zone coverages there, our split safety coverages very well. And uh that's what happened, John did Uh why does he tech?

You guys studying quite a bit, cause like he went straight up to the middle of each time. UH liked you guys have started.

Big part of the emphasis and the plan was to uh to to keep him in the pocket, UH retrace tackle him coming back on the middle. And you know we when we took off from the f we called the front door or that's when he ran and we didn't want to let him get out of there, and he still did it. So that's something that was disappointing.

John, especially recently when you guys have gotten off, you've done a really good job of finishing the games. Kind of you expanding with that League Europe fourteen in the fourth wort, What was the difference do you think in this game even then?

Well, I mean you saw fourth quarter game. You've seen the plays that were made, you know, the players that were made, and we were able to finish it, you know, in terms of offensively the one drive late in the fourth quarter there where we had to punt and then.

Not getting him.

Stopped in the turnovers, that's that's it's plays that are made.

Coaches just start off the game with X six from Kylie Hambilton breaking the street, John having an events a touchdown since twenty twenty one was.

Up for Kyleampton h you know, I'm sure for Kai it's great. It's great to see it. You know, those those kind of individual things are are valued, you know, but when you when you don't win the game, it's not something that you really think about as much. I'm sure he's not thinking about that much either, but I'm sure he'll look back on it some day and be, you know, be.

Proud of that.

Next up quarterback, Lamar Jackson, Mark, it.

Seems like you under a a lot of pressure today.

What do you Cleveland defensive flick do you to make it hard for you have to operate?

Uh?

Difference line heads off the miles yard those guys, Zidarius Murth, those guys were just you know, doing a lot of t stunts and not in good defense.

Were you guys were up fourteen and the fourth quarter?

What in your mind?

What the reasons that you guys weren't unable to finish the team?

That pick six the tip ball, that's unfortunate that pick six. Mm, you just gotta finish the game. Yeah, like you said, we up fourteen points, We just gotta finish that. We've been doing kay right?

What did you see if your point of viewing, the hick.

Six got just tipped the ball. See Pat was opening the flat, got tipped the ball and the ball just flew like ten yards in the air and General made a great play on the ball and to score.

Lamar uh knowing you know, big picture wise, so close to sweep in Cleveland in this year series.

What kind of opportunity do you think you guys kind of just let slip through your fingers today, you know, when it comes to Slater in the season, you get.

I mean, we just know we got another division opponent this Thursday, so we have to win this game. Shee distilled this game. I gotta win this game to defend the North. That's what we have gone so far.

Or how uh, how tough do you think it is for your back of tackles to come in against this kind of browns from trying to protect you in that situation.

I mean it it'd be tough though, young guy, uh, one of the young guys out there. But at the same time, the NFL, I believe our mind is prepared to play.

Do you feel like there was just a cumula effected losing you know, Marlin and Ronnie of just on the from a leadership level.

With the injuries in the game, how many? I mean, it's certain certain thing it's happened like that.

You know, it's the NFL.

We we can't control, you know, injuries where we tried best to do it, but you know, sometimes it happens, and I don't know, I don't know. I believe we still could have finished the game with those guys being out because we've we've done it throughout the season.

Lamar, what happened on the pick late in the second quarter, The way you reacted on it looked like you expected something different from the receiver.

Uh, I felled at the ball. I gotta put more power behind the velocity on that ball there. It was a underthrown pass.

The more do you feel, you feel like throughout the game that you as an offense ever really got into a rhythm that you wanted to be in.

That game, I mean we we we had glimpses of it, but but you know we was on the side line so long as it was cold. You know, those guys were trying to I believe, trying to keep us off the field. But it's football, you know, it's every sin. They're not gonna be ourday. You know today it.

Wasn't your's defensive tackle justin metabeat.

Was in a you know how much of you guys probably that I was stopping and run?

What were they do when the they they.

Running in so effective to day.

A lot of QB scrambles. That's something that uh, you know throughout the week we were emphasizing on to stop and we didn't do that.

You know, we gotta warn from it. We gotta do better.

We gotta move on cause we have another opponent to come in to our house, tryna take what we're gonna get to and when I when allow that to happen, But uh, we gotta one from it, for sure.

Definitely lost. That shouldn't happen.

But you know, every every week you're supposed to come bring your best and we didn't do that today.

So we gotta get better. So Charlo saying that stopping quarterback we're running was a number one priority since you guys were already playing for that happened, Why did it still pass you guys off guard? So was Ostport? Why did still had you guys off guard? Who were are you able to stop him despite.

Having that as a priority.

I guess we just in execute the way that we ever supposed to do and they took advantage of the capitalized on it.

So does a great job.

Early slowing down to Shaun Watson, did you feel like as the game went on started to find his rhythm a little bit.

That's what it looked like. That's what it looked like. Yeah, so what it looked like.

And you know, it's just disappointing, but you know we gotta worn from him and get better cause we have a game in like I don't know, eighty five ninety hours from now.

You know, when Kyle got that that pick one the second play and uh Mitchell ran in for a touchdown, you know, nobody thought that, you know, they were gonna win the game, and that's what happened.

So it's definitely just a shocking frustrated, but you know it was the NFL.

You gotta bring your best, your best game forward, every her every Sunday, and we didn't do that today.

But we're gonna get better. That's what we're gonna do. That's one That's one thing I know.

Doesn't they seem to get a lot.

Of yards after breaking at tackle or pushing piles?

Do you feel like you guys are out physical in a way at the line of scrimmage.

No, we just didn't.

Stop four from uh scrambling. You know, he's elusive with his legs. You know, he got hurt a little bit earlier, so you know, we thought maybe he was saw down.

He didn't, and.

Okay, Lot, We're not sure how long Marl might be out for. But if he is out, phrase think the amount of time your help, I could h how big of a challenges that d.

Be uh with maybe without Marrowlan.

You know, Marl's one of our best players, but you know, next man up, we have a got the great players on our team. Everybody knows Marl and everybody know he's a playmaker, greating coverage and everything. But you know, if he's down, the next man up and the next guy behind him is is great too. Just on defense, were stacked, so do not worry about it at all, honestly.

Now we'll go into the Ravens locker room. Here's safety Kyle Hamilton.

I think it's just a team overall defensive uh issue that we just got to solve. Just little things getting fixed.

What do they do, especially in the second half that allow them to move the ball and just you weren't able totally just put the game away.

Yeah, I mean they were getting on their edges. We were getting off flunk to the flat a couple of times, myself included. Uh, they were sending zones and catching the ball that Shaun was delivering some good passes, and it seemed like every time I had him up against the website, he just kept the drive going. And you know, that's tough on the defensive mind to get the third down, third and long and then come back and be first down. But feel like we're the guys that can handle that.

Kind of Alonga's line, Oh wait, gets the strip sacked or and second and long.

Guys came that close to maybe finishing him right there.

I mean just yeah, I mean that that's another example, just guys up front making a great play, get him down, sack, fumble. Unfortunately the ball then bounce our way. I think Beaks is right there trying to pick it up and go score. So I was shouting to him and running the ball and stuff like that. But yeah, I mean the next play, they but I think just like a little search her out with the mar I don't know exactly what he ran, but I got him in the third and two and

Surprising is this one? You opened the game with the you know, great pick six and Keith Mitchell has the long touchdown, You're at fourteen. How surprising is that they? You know, we weren't able to pull it out.

Yeah.

I think it's you know, it's a little bit of like humbling, humble, as if that's a word, But yeah, I mean the past two home games been treated to thirty point wins Wayans and Seahawks, and came out today I was looking the same. I feel like guys kind of let off the gas a little bit, not pulling any fingers at all, just say, on top of bottom of this organization, I feel like we could do better jobs just locking in, not that guys weren't locked in, but just be that much more intense even though we

It's kind of a unique situation.

I know, the physical challenge of a Thursday night game grows without saying, but you guys have less time than normal to yeah twelve.

In a game like this.

Yeah, I mean, honestly, I think it might be a bit of a hyperbolee. But if we could play tomorrow, I feel like everybody will want to. I feel like we just want to get back out here and make it right.

You know.

Losing at home, Oh it sucks, and in front of our crowd, and I don't feel like we have a big advantage here at home, and uh, we just gotta capitalize on that when we do have a chance. So I said, we got it again Thursday.

I know you guys wanted to run and kind of putting away. Couldn't quite what was take us through that A little bit. We just gotta play better me included. I gotta make more place on the ground.

What was tough more tough this time around against Cleveland's defense. Maybe last time.

They gave us some some different looks, but I feel like we still could have. We didn't play to our potential and we just gotta play better. Beast of the day.

Yeah mm mm. When we got to the lead like that, we gotta put it away and we failed to do that. Today we get back in the uh in the building and we got a quick one that's gonna put up come come real fast on Thursday. So short term memory and we gotta get back in a lot. Does that help to be able to turn around that quick? You there's no time to dwell, right, There's no time to do well, no excuses. Thursday nights is another big one for us, so we gotta make the best of it.

Just feel like a game that you guys gave away, similar to maybe Indianapolis or got Pittsburgh.

No, it's this d This game meant a lot and we didn't. We didn't play to like how we was supposed to play. So all we could do now is just move on to the next week. We got Bengals next week. They gonna come with it, and uh, we gotta play our best football much you've partner Keaton Mitchell? Uh, breaking breaking through a jam, another one more big plays? Yup, he's doing great. He's playing great football right now. And next week I know we were gonna keep getting him more involved in the offense.

Do you think teams are they haven't recognized maybe just kind of what your speed is. A couple guys looked like they had angles on you when your touchdown run, but they keep.

I mean, how did you let my speed work? Uh? Let me see. It came up to me like I don't know where you came from, but you but you good. I was like, hey, I mean I'm just making a name for myself. So that's good.

And then but in the fourth quarter of the game slips away one. I know you guys felt like you should have had It's just let's emotional.

What coast were that?

Like, I mean, thing happened.

Uh, I got a limit mistakes and just put this behind us and get focused on Cincinnati.

I thought was a little defensive front, but I had a.

Good, good defensive front, got a lot of good games and just got stop ninety five start the whole front.

So yeah, see, I think you only had one touch in the second half.

Were you surprised by that with a supart of the.

Game playing or kids going.

I mean, it is what it is and it ain't gonna be playing. But whenever my name is caught, i'm'a just make the best of the opportunity.

So well have another touchdown. It seemed like it it dropped right there between you when you got there.

What would you kind of see from him today?

Especially well, I mean doing he been doing all? Yeah, standing plays the ball coming out quick when they get and get it out. But other than that, he had standing plays with his legs running around in the back. Feel man, man, what what they paid him for? You know what they paid him for.

Does that think where you.

Rushing from the opposite side after Andrew? Was it just easier on your elbow or anything? Was that in touch for man?

I just now we just take turns out there, me and Dafe and kV and whoever else go in the game. I let them decide what side they wanna go to, and I go to the opposite.

What was going on with their run game? You know, they they ran for a number of yards, but.

What would they pass?

Some mm great calls? They was getting on the edges with gap skime pulling schemes and uh hooking the ends with the tight end.

Yeah.

Then and we was missing enough tackles to day, and we're missing more tackles.

So that's part of the game.

Fo Ky said that, you know, after going up fourteen zero, maybe you guys weren't as locked in coming down the stretch.

Don Uh uh expect that. I ain't gonna say that.

Uh, I ain't gonna say all that when we went locked in, and then how I felt that half time? Uh after half time, I thought it was in a good spot coming out. Uh things just start going anyway, and they started moving the ball on us, and I couldn't really pulling out when we can't really point out one thing or point it says one thing. It was a total defensive like effort as of what was going on out there. I don't want no one person's fault or anything. It was just you know, they get paid to.

Is it is it good to to get out soon?

Or is does it feels a little to play an they did play.

Uh, it's probably pretty good.

Of course, we gotta watch it tape, learn from my arm mistakes because the next team probably gonna pull stuff in this game that they moved a ball with, So we gotta learn from it, and and uh move on.

You guys are really prior for good defense, been playing great ball. What does a game like this do for you?

Guys?

Uh, I kind of bother you a little bit a lot, really, cause uh, we we take pride on that giving up a lot of run and a lot of rushing yards in the run game, and today they got some rushing yards and they moved the ball very very well with us up front, and then the uh second year, so we just gotta, like I said, get come together next week and move forward to get ready for.

Since last but not least, here's cornerback Brandon Stevens.

Second first time around with the Shawn the first game, obviously he wasn't playing for them.

How did it feel out there?

Certainly he was changed the dynamics of the game overall.

And yeah, uh, you know he made some key players, you know, uh, you know later in the fourth you know, he's you know, the hardest holder the offense. Uh yeah, he you know, he came up big. We we we fell short. That's that's what we'll go down to Brandon.

You guys who were up fourteen uh in the fourth quarter?

And what was the difference this time around other games?

You guys kind of extent for what's the difference of doctoration?

Uh? Yeah, we just didn't make the players that we needed to make. Uh yeah, execution, Uh just get off the field. Yeah, just just didn't make the places we need to make.

And uh part about said that there are some issues with uh, I don't know, communication, execution, with the split fild coverages that you guys were running in the w W was that know was supposed during the game.

I mean, what was that an issue for you guys?

Well, after I look at it on a film, you know, I make those corrections, uh, and then you know, just go from there.

Defensively, you guys have been outspoken and prideful about what you've been able to do and and the numbers that you've been able to put up to have a performance like this is is that kind of hard to wrap.

Your mind around?

You know, it's it's definitely frustrating, but you know, we we can't really hang our heads on this one. You know, we gotta show a week. We gotta uh, you know, our mindset is always you know, uh proven we are, so you know we gonna have that same mind said going into Thursday, you know, be ready to play.

Yeah, it doesn't get any easier.

Health tough.

It's this turn around going to be for Thursday, especially knowing what happens.

Today in the North League. This game's over, It's yeah, like you said, it's it's a quick turnaround. Uh, but we'll be ready.

M we used to we got more a game not return.

We're not sure, uh could Jovall said, not sure?

You know any updates on his injury, But what's the challenge of playing.

When you don't have after all the Yeah, you know m Model's a big piece. Uh, you know, he's a big piece of the of this defense. But you know who next man in, you know, has to step up. So uh, regardless of who it is that's in there, you know, uh, you just gotta you know, next man up and come play.

What can the team learn about itself from a lost life?

Is and the more important to play.

That what God has respond Yeah, yeah, it's it's all about responding now. Like I said, this this one is over with, we'll we'll learn from it. We know that wasn't our best performance. Uh, but you know, you know it's it's it's still a long season and we just got to go in you know, next week as it's unfolding.

Are you getting a sense of this is just a team that's not going away and it's been hard to put away, especially late in the game. Are you having those Yes?

No, it's like I said, we we didn't make the plays that we needed to make. You know it, it has nothing to do with them, you know, it's it's it's it's us, all right, But yeah, they make the plays they needed to make. Uh, And you know, they came up big and we came up short.
