Episode description

Join Dan, Glenn, and Tim as they assess the first Test match between England and New Zealand.

Unfortunately, events off the field overshadowed the cricket played at Lords as historical racist and sexist tweets posted by debutant Ollie Robinson emerged during the first day’s play. The Rain Stopped Play team discusses what the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) can and should do to tackle racism within the game, and what consequences Robinson might face for his actions.

On the pitch, England caused controversy by opting to bat for a draw after a seemingly generous declaration by New Zealand gave them 273 to chase in the final innings. Should England have attacked more? Why does England’s middle order look so brittle? Finally, does anyone care about over rates? Listen in and find out!
