European Lab Forum 2014 Europe Culture Refresh! 27-30 May 2014 Wednesday, May 28 - Coffee & Experts - Do we consume the city we live in? A range of unique initiatives and tools that advocate for active and responsible citizens in the construction of their city. Speakers : Marco Clausen (Prinzessinnengarten I DE) / Priya Prakash (Design for Social Change I UK) / Sophie Mankowwski (Portrait Sonore I CA) / Miriam Roure (MIT Senseable City Lab I US) Moderation: Pascal Bertin (Journalist I FR) More European cities develop concepts for “smart cities”, including mobility, technology, architecture and the environment. The aim is to find solutions to facilitate the management of a more efficient city in terms of traffic, cleanliness, waste management etc. How will these ideas integrate the strengthening of a city’s social and cultural structure? How do they contribute to the strengthening of a sense of belonging and community? Four European project leaders will present their innovative initiatives to better connect citizens with their city, allowing them to actively participate to its development as an active resident rather than a passive consumer..
