Episode description

“Art is not a mirror held up to society, but a hammer with which to shape it.” These words, penned by German playwright Bertolt Brechtont, remain as significant and astute as at any point since they were first written at the start of the twentieth century. In a world being threatened from all sides – by ecological and climate-related challenges, the migrant crisis, growing inequalities – art can serve both as a mode of expression and protest, and as a tool for transformation. Often working outside the limitations of museums, a new wave of artists are making their voices heard by appropriating public places and inventing their own spaces for expression and creation across Europe. With Judith Depaule (Atelier des artistes en exil), Máret Ànne Sara (Artist), Nikola Ljuca (Heartefact) et Guttorm Andreasen(Journalist)
