On the latest #LitReview, I interview Chicana author Angelica Loreto about her research and book analyzing narco-corridos (drug ballads) and documenting the romantic relationship that sprung from “chasing the music.”
She noted that although narco-corridos glorify violence, they can also provide space for healing in that they preserve narratives, including the lives of those lost from violence, through oral history.
