This week we discuss all things hospitality as we chat with Sarah Turner- Beer Education & Experiences, Community & Culture Developer at 4 Pines Brewing Co.
Having spent 13 years at 4 Pines, Sarah was a very early hire at the brewery when it was one of the foundational breweries in Sydney. Coming from a background in pubs, Sarah played a significant role in establishing 4 Pines as a hospitality venue, at a time when hospitality wasn’t always a focus for start-up breweries.
We talk about what is involved in good venue hospitality, but also the challenges of scaling up and adding venues while retaining the same culture and feel of the original. We also discuss some of the challenges involved in working in hospitality, including Sarah’s own decision to step back and take a break, before returning to 4 Pines and assuming her current role.
It’s a great chat with someone who has made a career of craft and has had a big influence on her corner of it.
