Royal Ascot review and the Irish Derby preview

Rishi Persad and Sam Turner review a wonderful week of horse racing from Royal Ascot 2022 alongside studio guest and friend of the Racing Weekly show Johnny Ward.

The chaps recap lots of fantastic performances throughout the week, some great finishes, a couple of disappointments and also some controversies including 50/1 Norfolk Stakes winner The Rider with jockey Paul Hanagan.

To begin with though Rishi asks the panel to appraise the performance of Baaeed and search for its future targets.

One topic to look out for is the Ascot Gold Cup and the subsequent fall out after some strong words from John Gosden and Frankie Dettori.

Later, Johnny makes the case for Westover and reveals Tuesday could run in the race as we look ahead and preview the Irish Derby from the Curragh.
