this is the everyday podcast for the everyday people , guys . Welcome back to another episode of red . It's the everyday podcast for the everyday people , guys . It has been a quick week , it seems , just like yesterday I was bringing you guys episode number four of the fourth season and I'm excited .

Now we are going into the month of October , it is now October the 3rd , and I can't even begin to tell you just how crazy things have gotten on the school scene in just such a small amount or window of time .
And so in this episode we are going to uncover some stories that are dark , some stories that are gruesome , but there's always going to be positive advice , counsel that you guys can benefit from that will make it easier for you to traverse the school environment , and that's why I'm here , that's why I come to you guys each and every week , to give you guys that
reassurance that , no matter what happens in school , no matter what happens during your day-to-day personal lives . As long as you click play on this podcast and as long as you continue to endure and thrive , you'll have the support of RED . I do just want to give a shout out to all of the persons that came together to make this new line of merch shirt .
This thing is beautiful . It has a great logo on it . It really brings together the essence of what this podcast is about and what it stands for . Here is our first theme topic of this show why won't my parents let me have any fun ? Can you relate with that question ?
Or perhaps have you said anything like that Today , guys , we live in an environment in which parents and children are not seeing eye to eye , so I figured I might as well try my best to help . But the star on this show reads your results may vary . And your results may vary because it all depends on your mindset .
If you're willing to apply these things and get the most out of it , then that's great . But if you still want to go your direction and go your course in connection with how you want to handle problems with your parents , then fine . That's the results you're going to get .
But if you're willing to try a new perspective of handling matters , then you might just learn something out of it .
Red does not endorse any type of choices after this show , so we don't push you in one way or the other , but our goal is to be able to give you options so that you can make a decision that will leave you feeling at peace with your parents and your family and that will help you grow as a responsible adult .
So here's our theme why won't my parents let me have any fun ? Here's a scenario . I said fun , I meant to say fun . Your friends have invited you to a party this weekend . Fun , I meant to say fun . Your friends have invited you to a party this weekend . You ask your parents if you can go , but their answer is a firm no . You aren't surprised .
It's the same answer they gave you the last time . Here's something to consider why do my parents always say no ? How can I get my parents to say yes ? And we're going to develop those topics very smoothly , very patiently , but in a fun way . It's going to be a fun theme topic of discussion why do my parents always say no ?
If it seems like your parents always deny your request , you might conclude that they just don't want you to have any fun . A teenager named Marie felt that way when she first got a phone . She says my dad put a lot of restrictions on which apps I could download , which people I could communicate with and how late I could talk to them .
Meanwhile , my friends could do whatever they wanted . Have you ever felt like that ? Perhaps you had all of the restrictions and your friends were having the time of their life ? Well , if you have , congratulations , you're a normal teenager and that's fine . But here's something to think about .
Was Marie's dad really out to stop her from having fun , or what else might he have been concerned about ? I'll tell you a brief story . I wanted a cell phone so badly . I had saved up a couple of dollars to get my own cell phone , whatever , whatever . And my mother insisted that I wait .
And I'm like bro , I don't need to wait , I'm grown as grown as I could be 15 , 16 , whatever and so I told her I was going to handle it , or however I phrased it . And I went down and I got myself a phone . I brought myself for those of you who are on the younger side a Virgin Mobile .
Virgin Mobile , it is a tiny little phone that you have to pay for your minutes , you have to pay for your text messages with a prepaid card . I don't even know if that thing exists anymore and if it does , I'm pretty sure it's not in that manner or fashion . But I got the phone .
Well , little did I know I was about to be cheated severely because that texting and communication that I wanted to have with my friend so desperately I ended up losing because of the fact that I could not keep paying for these prepaid cards , like I didn't have an income .
I didn't have income to be able to do that , and so I ended up resenting the phone and I got laughed at by my parents . So in these scenarios , keep in mind , guys , that your parents have a very different view of matters .
They have an elevated view of circumstances and they can be able to help you to reason out your choices in connection with what's really going to benefit you versus what's not . So here's a tip to try . Pretend you are a parent . Pretend you are a parent and you have a teenager who just got a phone . What concerns would you have ? Powerful question , isn't it ?
What restrictions would you put in place to address your concerns ? What would you say if your teenager said you didn't want him or her to have any fun , something to think about .
Today we live in a world in which things are crazy , chaotic and out of control and , as well-meaning intentioned parents will do , they'll try to set up safety protocols so that their children won't be affected , abused or damaged by the corrupt world and influence that they have to be surrounded by .
And unfortunately , today a vast majority of parents don't have that outlook on certain matters . And speaking as someone who is in the education field , who's worked as a school bus driver , works as a camp counselor , etc . Sometimes parents forget to have these boundaries up to protect their kids and it ultimately damages the kid .
It may not be something drastic or chaotic . They might become a little bit too addicted to their phone , they might become a little too emotionally attached . So when a parent has boundaries in place , it can really do much good for the kid , even if the child can't see it right away .
Sometimes things in life take a little bit of time , and so we just want to be mindful of that . We want to keep that mindset . Here's what Tanya says . My dad always said put yourself in my shoes . As a parent , doing that forced me to see not only the value of his rules but also his reasons for them .
If I had kids , I think I would expect the same things of them that any dad , or any dad or my dad , would expect of me . So , yes , being able to see things from your parents' perspective can do a world of wonder in connection with you trying to grow with their rules and understand them . And so it takes reasonableness .
Today , a lot of kids are just not trying to have reasonableness . They want to do what they want to do when they want to do it and expect things to just miraculously work out . Well , if that's the mindset that you have in connection with living life , then you're going to get those kind of results in connection with living life .
So how can we get your parents to change that infamous word no to a yes ? Well , it takes practice . That infamous word no to a yes ? Well , it takes practice , and I can tell you it doesn't happen overnight , but if you put these steps in motion , you can get them to change that no to a firm , unresolved yes . So here's what not to do . Don't do this .
I'm begging each and every one of you guys . Don't do it . Sulk , complain or argue . Yelling accomplishes nothing and it's emotionally draining for you and your parent . If you argue , your parents will view you as immature and undeserving of more freedom . Richard , richard is 100% right . I've tried the arguing tactic . It does not work .
Parents are going to think and reason , based on their God-given ability to do so . So you're not going to change your parents' mentality on why they are giving you rules or how often they give you rules . But what you can do is try this instead . Avoid responding immediately . Instead , look at the situation from your parents' viewpoint .
Is the problem that they really don't trust you , or could it be that they just don't trust the environment you might be getting into or the people you might be with ? Why not calmly discuss the matter with them so that you can find out their reasoning on it ? Here's the thing . You have to be reasonable .
So all of this takes a great deal of patience and endurance , kindness , humility . It takes some firm qualities firm qualities to be able to reason with your parents to this magnitude .
And if you're not willing to do that , then you might want to take a step back , consider a breather and then reanalyze a time in which you will be willing to do this with your parents . Here's a tip when you talk to your parents , make sure you have reasonable solutions to address their concerns .
Even if your parents still say no , they will understand your thinking and you might just come to understand theirs . So how can we illustrate a scenario ? You want to ride in a car with your friends . Your parents say something along the lines no , because what if the car breaks down ? How will we be able to contact you ?
Your response should be logical and well thought out . Don't say something like oh my gosh , you guys always assume the worst is going to happen . That denotes or expresses to them that you have not quite grasped the reality that we live in . Sometimes cars break down . That's a realistic scenario . What can you do ? Level with them . Well , that's a good point .
Mom or dad , stepmom , et cetera , et cetera , that's a good point . Why don't I call you or update you as we're going through the night , so that you can be aware of what's going on and be able to assist us as needed ? Boom , kablam , even if your parents don't go for it , even if they say that's just not going to happen .
Remember there is a principle that we want to keep in mind A stupid person gives vent to all his feelings , but the wise one calmly keeps them in check . Here's another important thing not to do , and I'm begging you , do not make this a Disney Channel original movie . Don't go behind your parents' backs .
I tried to get around the limits that my dad put on my phone use . I tried to find ways to message my friends late at night or to download apps that my dad didn't approve of . Eventually , he found out and my restrictions became stricker , because now he couldn't trust me . Trying to get around restrictions is never a good idea .
Marie , whom we mentioned earlier . Rather than go behind your parents' back , guys , try this instead . Show your parents that you can cooperate with their restrictions and gain their trust . Here's a tip when your parents ask specific questions who will be at the gathering or the party ? When will you be home Give specific and truthful answers .
Do not lie to your parents . That is the number one thing people tend to do . Well , I'm just going to give them pieces of the truth and then have them come to their own conclusions , and then , when they hunt you down and find out what you've done out , you go . Vague responses will not gain their trust , so keep in mind that you have to be patient .
It might take time for your parents to adjust a rule , but if they see you obeying the rules they have in place , they may be inclined to give you more freedom . That's what Melinda adds , another young person dealing with parents .
Here's our final tip Choose a time when your parents are relaxed , not when they just came home from work or when they are distracted by other matters . So don't wake your parents up at six o'clock in the morning asking to go to lunch with some girl or some boys or some group of people at 12 o'clock noon . No one's going to respond well at that hour .
You have to be realistic when addressing your concerns to your parents and you will benefit . You will find a great deal of joy by talking to your parents under these circumstances . So , guys , what is it that you can do ? Just to recap our theme , why won't my parents ? Let me have any fun . Well , one , consider the perspective from your parents matter .
Consider their perspective on matters and circumstances like these , especially when you're introducing a new factor of your life to them . I'm a teenager . I want more responsibility . I want to do the different things without the supervision of you and mom . Give your parents that dignity and allow them to patiently correct matters . Talk to them reasonably .
Don't be vague . Let them know how you are feeling . Don't go behind their backs and make sure that you don't put pressure on your parents , perhaps by telling them what other kids your age are allowed to do .
That's very important in connection with your parents dealing with you as an individual and you trying to get them to change that unfaithful no to a faithful and resolved yes . True , your results will vary , but I guarantee you if you try one or two of these suggestions , you'll go a lot further with your parents than making them your mortal sworn enemies .
You'll get through a lot of your years at home a lot easier if you cultivate the proper mentality and connection with viewing your parents' discipline .

When these stories come to my desk and I analyze the contents in connection with what the person might have been thinking , it becomes a little more challenging to understand the context . But today we live in a world where people do these crazy things and there is no cause . Some people are just looking for violent activity .
Continue to be safe guys and proactive as we cope with these tragedies . Do not allow yourself to be sucked into an environment in which you are not comfortable or which you feel matters aren't safe . How does this connect to our story ?
Be aware of your surroundings , no matter where you are , no matter how safe you think you may be , always consult and be aware of your surroundings .
In our following story , I find this to be heartwarming that when these stories come to my desk , these particular stories , it really does make you laugh and smile that there are some positive things happening in the school environment . Administrators of West Springfield Elementary School sleep on roof . We're now in West Springfield Massachusetts .
The principal and vice principal for Fousey Elementary School camped out on the roof Sunday night . School camped out on the roof Sunday night . This , after the school's booster Fun Run , raised more than their $12,000 goal , reaching nearly $14,000 .
The administrators surveyed the students and asked them as a reward if they'd like them to take part in an ice bucket challenge or sleep on the school's roof . A majority of students voted for the school's principal and vice principal to sleep on the roof Sunday evening . Students stopped by to wave at them from afar .
Both the principal and vice principal say they are overjoyed the school was able to raise funds and surpass their goal . I do think it's fortifying , dare I say encouraging , when principal and a vice principal can go out of their way to give students the encouragement that they need .
This is a lesson for students not only to keep your word , but never , ever shy back to the fact that school can be fun , that positive things can happen in the school environment . We wish you guys all the best there at West Springfield Massachusetts .
Dealing with this very cool story In this following story , we're just switching gears , trying to figure out what exactly happened in the case of this 15-year-old student . We're now in Philadelphia at the high school . A 15-year-old critically injured after incident at Philadelphia High School .
A 15-year-old female student is in critical condition after she went out of a fifth floor window at a Philadelphia High School Tuesday . Police have not said how the girl went out the window . The school district of Philadelphia confirmed that Morell Dobbins' career in Technician Education High School was placed on lockdown shortly afternoon .
The district said parents could pick up their children for an early dismissal . Police said the girl was taken to a local hospital and placed in critical condition . Superintendent Tony Watlington said in a statement that school will resume on a normal schedule . That was this past Wednesday . The Philadelphia Police Department is handling the investigation .
It's interesting when these stories surface . There's not many details that can be able to help individuals assess exactly what happened . We know that this must have been something gruesome for this young girl to be facing .
We hope that she recovers well and if you guys are a friend of this individual , continue to be by her side , support her in what she's going through and try your best to stay positive as she makes these progressive steps toward her recovery In our follow-up story .
Note just how honest one assailant was in connection with a gruesome devastation that occurred between him and a victim devastation that occurred between him and a victim . Lancaster man turns himself in after allegedly sexually assaulting minor for months . We're now in Lancaster County , pa .
A Lancaster man has turned himself into police after allegedly sexually assaulting a minor for months at her home . Bradley Whittier , 19 , was arrested by Ephrata Police Department on charges of statutory sexual assault , unlawful contact with minors and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old .
According to charging documents , a victim contacted Ephrata Police Department and responded that she was sexually assaulted by Wood Dyer . The victim told troopers that the assault took place in January when Wood Dyer allegedly pressured her to have sex with him .
Wood Dyer allegedly continued to pressure the victim at her Adamstown residence where he had sex with her multiple times from January to June of this year . Wood Dyer turned himself over to Ephrata police on August the 19th and said that he had sexually assaulted the victim approximately six or seven times over the course of 2024 , according to charging documents .
Wood Dyer did not make bail and will remain in Lancaster County Prison awaiting a September 3rd preliminary hearing . Now , as of this story , we have not heard any updates in connection with that hearing , but it does cause one to reason how someone can have the mentality to do something like this to a minor child .
It does , though , provide adequate lessons for all of those who are dealing with young persons . Today . We are encouraged in the school bus community to be aware of anything that we see or anything that we hear .
Our cause is not to be paranoid , but we recognize that when a child is in our care , it's a serious responsibility that must be handled with due diligence . Our follow-up story is a bit ironic . In his attempt to foil the scam of someone else , he literally incriminated himself . High school football coach arrested after allegedly reporting a prostitute for theft .
We're now in Laredo , texas . A high school football coach was arrested after he allegedly called the police to report a prostitute had stolen money from him . According to authorities , rolando Ramos called the police to report a theft on August the 19th .
After they arrived at the scene of the crime , authorities said they discovered Ramos was attempting to pay a prostitute for sexual services . The prostitute allegedly stole $100 and ran away . After the investigation , ramos was arrested on suspicion of soliciting prostitution . The Laredo Morning Times reported Ramos was a quarterback's coach for the high school football team .
The interesting thing about this particular story is that I'm not sure as to what the dynamic is here . I'm not sure if the coach thought that the police would side with him or if this was an attempt at prostitution .
But the tragic thing is this when you are connected to the school community and you have a job in the school industry and these things kind of surface , it can be damaging to your career and to your job . So hopefully this matter is sorted out in a way that the coach will be able to have income at the end of the circumstance .
The location in question is Sigaroa High School , where this coach was employed . In our follow-up story we are still dealing with the tragic consequences of students making irrational decisions regarding how they're going to deal with their classmates . Middletown High School student charged with slashing another . We're now in Middletown as our location .
A Middletown High School student has been arrested after allegedly slashing another student in the face , requiring medical attention for a non-life-threatening facial injury . School officials said the incident took place at about 2.23 pm on Monday , september 30 . School leaders said the offender was immediately arrested , taken off school property and charged with armed assault .
Police Lieutenant Jeffrey Thielen said , situations like this are uncommon and happen across the country . The weapon used in the Middletown incident is considered to be a medical-grade plastic handle instrument with a blade of approximately one-half to three-quarters of an inch . It was confiscated and in police custody .
Parents continue to wonder as to when this kind of violence is going to stop . In the school systems , more and more parents are now considering the option of homeschooling their students or their children rather , I said students , but children is what I'm going for and it is something that is unsettling .
People often act and I'll go through this on this show time and time again do I want to have children ? Do I want to have kids ? Obviously , that's a personal question , but I can understand why some persons will choose not to have kids when they see the circumstances surrounding all that kids have to go through .
It is an entirely different mental stamina needed for these kids to get through these challenges at school . To the victim that was involved in the slashing , we do wish you a well recovery from the team here at RAD Podcasting .
Here's our next story in connection with how vile things can get in connection with the school environment Former Church Hill high school teacher arrested for alleged inappropriate relationship with student . Our location now is Castle Hills , texas .
A former Church Hill High School teacher has been arrested after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old student . Castle Hills Police confirmed they are investigating reports of an alleged inappropriate relationship that has been going on since November 2023 between the former educator and a student .
The former teacher has been identified as 36-year-old John Grist , and police were able to obtain a warrant and arrest him . Northeast ISD released a statement saying they were first made aware of the allegations in June and immediately opened an investigation .
While Christ resigned , castle Hills Police said the victim's parents are cooperating with investigators and added that they will be reaching out to any other potential victims' families . There is no further information in connection with this story , but the more I cover stories on this show , the more I reach out to young persons .
I'm starting to see that these things are happening more and more between a student and a grown adult . There are cases of grooming . There are cases in which students are allowing themselves to be put in certain predicaments because they don't have the training needed to protect themselves from certain individuals .
Continue to be vigilant , whether you're a student listening to this podcast or a parent . Be vigilant and do everything in your power that you can to protect yourself and your families from these terrible outcomes . We wish you all the best as you guys cope with this new unfolding of circumstances .
This next story will highlight just how serious it is for us to be diligent in protecting ourselves when it comes to things that can happen in the school environment . Former middle school janitor arrested in Madison County . We're now in Berea , kentucky , as our location .
A former Madison County middle school janitor has been charged with sexual abuse connected to an incident that allegedly happened while he was working at Ferristown Middle School in Berea . 63-year-old Larry Wilson was arrested on the charge on September 26 , but police say the incident happened in March 2024 .
In May , lex18 spoke with the parents of the 13-year-old alleged victim in the case , who is choosing to remain anonymous . They said they waited a month to speak to school officials .
The victim's parents tell LEX18 that someone with the school board came to talk with their daughter without making them aware and that the principal then quote gave the janitor a talking to and then allowed Wilson to continue working . On May 10th , the school system notified Wilson that they were placing him on paid suspension .
Wilson then submitted a letter of retirement , meaning he wouldn't return to Ferristown Middle . Lex18 did reach out to Madison County Schools for a statement . They responded by saying quote Larry Wilson retired at the end of last school year and no longer works .
For the statement they responded by saying , quote Larry Wilson retired at the end of last school year and no longer works for the district . The district was not notified of his recent arrest or the charges against him . At this time . The district is not able to make any comment regarding this matter .
According to court records , wilson was released on bond and will be arraigned on October , the 14th .
¶ School Controversies Sparking Outrage and Concern
And again , the tragedies that befall each and every one of us . This is not the result that the family was looking for , especially when there's a case of abuse involved here . However , as we've continued to echo throughout this episode , being diligent at protecting ourselves goes a long way .
To echo throughout this episode being diligent at protecting ourselves goes a long way . Refrain from being alone with people , whether they're your teacher , principal , vice principal , ta , don't be alone with them .
Try everything in your power to set your circumstances up to be with people so that you have witnesses and protection should these persons try to act on whatever challenging desires and urges they have that they're going through .
In this following story , parents are expressing just how upset they are with how a principal expressed themselves in connection with a certain particular issue . Principal on leave after swastika comment sparked outrage at Bellevue Elementary School . We're now in Bellevue , washington .
An elementary school principal is on administrative leave and the Bellevue School District is now investigating after parents complained about comments she made after a swastika was found on a school wall Monday Swastika I almost lost that word for a minute .
In an email addressed to the Phantom Lake Elementary community Monday , the principal described a swastika as a symbol of hate and as a symbol of peace . She apologized for not acknowledging sooner that a swastika in some cultures is a symbol of . Several parents took exception to the principal's comments , calling them unacceptable and ill-informed .
The incident began Monday morning , when parents say the principal sent a school text alert to Phantom Lake families letting them know that a fifth grade student discovered a swastika on a wall of a building on its campus .
She wrote that such symbols of hate have surfaced in their school and that the swastika was removed immediately and encouraged families to communicate with their children the importance of respecting others and standing up against hate . Hours later that same day , parents shared with Como News the above-mentioned email they received from the principal with the subject lying .
The interesting thing about this story that I find is that it's one of those stories where we one have to be careful what we say , but we too have to be mindful that there are people today that have been affected by so many different things and that certain expressions or comments that we make will offend other people .
This is not me taking a side on either portion of this story . However , I am interested to know what you , as the viewer , thinks . How do you feel as though things were handled in connection with this particular story ?
The conclusion of the matter is that this principal , ms Aramaki or Aramaki , is expected to address the matter Thursday at the next school board meeting , which is at 4.30 pm , and so the parents are really having an issue with how she expressed herself , and it can be tough when you are looked at with a certain context and not given that benefit of the doubt .
But again , we don't know as to what the principal had in mind in expressing these things . As a result of this misunderstanding or this controversy , this principal is on leave and many parents are calling for her resignation . This is going to be a tough set of circumstances for the principal moving forward In the following story .
Note just how frustrated some teachers have become in connection with dealing with their students at Navarro High School , austin ISD . Assistant principal . Student seen wrestling at high school . And guys , please find the link to this video in the description , because I'm not trying to risk a community guideline violation . We know how TikTok can be .
Our location is Austin , texas . An Austin ISD parent says she plans to take legal action against the district . Video taken on September 18th shows a 10th grade student and assistant principal wrestling in the restroom of Navarro Early College High School . The student says the incident happened during a restroom break between classes .
The 10th grader says he attempted to leave the restroom but was pushed back into the stall . He says that is when another student started recording . Shortly after another school official came in and broke up the altercation . According to the student's mom , the school suspended her son for having a vape .
The parent says she saw the video after her son returned to school following the suspension . She saw the video after her son returned to school following the suspension . She says she informed school officials that she wanted to press charges and the district scheduled a removal hearing for the student this week for the altercation .
The interesting thing about this story is that this young man was suspended for having a vape teachers . It can be challenging to deal with young persons today . Violence is not the answer . Taking matters into our own hands is not the answers . There are protocols to protect us too . It is easy to say that because we don't know the context .
Let's be clear we don't know the context , but what we do know is that this teacher's action now , or this principal's actions , may have cost him more than if he would have just stuck with the protocol . We wish the victim a well recovery , because this is something that could have shaken this young man up .
We try not to judge individuals in connection with their worst moments , so not judging the young man involved or the principal , but just trying to see as to what really happened in connection with this story . We wish you guys all the best there in Austin , texas . Our following story is indeed gripping .
Parent blast windows cut into Southwestern gender inclusive bathrooms at middle school . In an unusual move , the Southwestern School District has installed windows looking into the gender-inclusive restrooms of its middle school .
The change , which was advanced during an August meeting of the school board led to renovations that cut a large window into the gender-inclusive restrooms of the middle school , making the wash areas of the bathrooms visible from the school's hallways .
In a statement provided on Wednesday , school board president Matt Galezzella cited student safety for the decision , stating that in making the area outside of stalls more viewable , we are better able to monitor for a multitude of prohibited activities , such as any possible vaping , drug use , bullying or absenteeism .
The change is in similar fashion to what has existed for years in our elementary schools . Read the statement . For years in our elementary schools . Read the statement .
