What if embracing teamwork in marriage could transform your relationship from mundane to magical? Drawing inspiration from my own experiences, I explore how adopting a "we" mindset can help couples navigate challenges together, just like a pilot and co-pilot safely guiding their aircraft. By sharing resources and responsibilities, partners can avoid the trap of becoming mere roommates and instead build a fulfilling, harmonious partnership.

Our episode also sheds light on recent tragedies that serve as harrowing reminders of the consequences of neglect and the urgent need for vigilance. We discuss the tragic loss of young Nathaniel Clark in Henrico County, a devastating incident in South Bend, and a troubling case in Texas. These stories highlight the critical importance of adult supervision and responsibility in preventing such heartbreaking events from occurring.

Finally, we confront pressing issues within our educational system, examining incidents that reflect larger societal concerns. From a substitute teacher's misconduct in Virginia to the debate over AI in Massachusetts schools, we emphasize the need for clear policies and accountability. We also honor the bravery of Bryce Gerlach, a young hero who made the ultimate sacrifice for his friends. Through these stories, we call for collective action to ensure the safety and well-being of students, urging awareness and support to prevent such incidents in the future.

Marriage Teamwork Success in Relationships

Speaker 1

this is the everyday podcast for the everyday people . Guys , welcome back to another episode of red . It's that everyday podcast for the everyday people and , as always , I am your host , rashaan , bringing you all school news each and every single week . Guys , this week has been very , very long .

We're here Thursday 6 o'clock , october 17th , and we're just muddling through . One thing I've been thinking about a lot that's been really irking my nerves is the YouTube Algae Rhythm . That's been really irking my nerves is the YouTube algorithm . Yes , I said algorithm , because the algorithm is a concept that I find to be extremely dissatisfying .

It doesn't really do much for the individuals involved , those who have good content , those who are pursuing that content and trying to make it the best content they possibly can . It really becomes frustrating , but nevertheless , we're still pushing through on YouTube . So if you haven't subscribed to my YouTube channel , please subscribe .

Make sure you get that subscription in . And so , guys , by all means , if you think that there is something that I can improve on , please let me know . Do not hesitate to reach out to me , whether it be through my email , my text fan mail account , or even just on the comment thread .

Let me know what you think I can perfect in connection with these stories . Now , last week I mentioned that we were going to dig into a 12-part series entitled Wow , I lost the thought Entitled 12 things that lead to , or 12 secrets that lead to , family success . So last week we were able to focus on the quality of .

Let me see here what was our quality last week in connection with our theme Commitment . I just wanted to make sure I got that right . Last week we focused on commitment . Now this week we're going to focus on teamwork .

How can two individuals married couple , persons who are dating learn teamwork in connection with succeeding as a family , both now and possibly in the future , should the relationship progress that way ? Now some people are afraid of marriage . I understand that .

A lot of people think marriage is something that is doomed to fail from the start , but no , marriage is so much more than that . You can get so much more out of marriage by being true to yourself and taking your time in selecting a mate . So what does teamwork mean ?

This theme is prepared for those who don't have children yet , but if you do have kids , you can also benefit from some of these principles . When there is teamwork in a marriage , a husband and wife are like a pilot and co-pilot with the same flight plan . Even when challenges arise , each spouse thinks in terms of we rather , rather than me .

So here's a principle to keep in mind Marriage is not a solo act . Husband and wife must work together to make it successful . That's what one gentleman , christopher , noted in connection with dealing with marriage . As someone who's been married for about four years now . We're going into our fifth year , august the 1st 2025 .

I will tell you that marriage is something that you have to prepare for . It can't be thrown about unexpectedly . Marriage is something that you have to prepare for . It can't be thrown about unexpectedly . My wife and I we were friends for about seven years before she gave me the opportunity to date her .

She was very wise in connection with waiting and I was fine with that because it made sense that she is looking at me and a relationship in a serious way . So it's not something that we wanted to rush into , and I thought that was pretty cool in connection with us being able to further our friendship into a relationship . Here's why it matters , though .

Why it matters Because my wife and I are a great team . We're different in many aspects , but we do make a great team , we make a phenomenal team . Here's why it matters right . When a conflict arises , a husband and wife who are not a team will tend to attack each other rather than the problem . Minor issues will turn into major obstacles .

That's something that my mother told me when we first got married and we were dealing with managing bills and credit card debt . She said attack the problem , not each other , and I thought that was really profound advice , because in today's world , you end up attacking your mate , who's supposed to be your co-pilot in connection with family affairs .

You take out that frustration on them and that doesn't do anyone any good in the bottom line of the circumstance . Here's what Alexandra says Teamwork is the essence of marriage . If my husband and I weren't a team , we would be roommates instead of marriage mates Two people who live together but who aren't on the same page when it comes to important decisions .

So that portion of our discussion really hit me hard . When you are striving to be a team player in your marriage , you will thrive and will meet with success . Do not allow yourself to be hindered in connection with the results that you can get in your marriage by just trying to think only of yourself .

A lot of people today don't want to work with other people , and that's fine . However , I see the value of teamwork and I strongly encourage couples to cultivate teamwork with one another . And that's not something you'll learn just from dating a person for a couple of months .

It takes time to be able to know if this person is going to be compatible for you in the relationship , so that teamwork can thrive . Here's what you can do . We're going to play a little game , right ? This is my favorite . This is my pause , the podcast moment . Right ? So how can you make sure that you are on the road to teamwork ? Well , test yourself .

Do I view the money I earn as all mine ? Thought-provoking question , right ? Thought-provoking question Do you believe that all the money that you make in your marriage is yours ? Well , if you do , there is some need for discussion . Today , people often split their incomes .

When my wife and I tried that when we first got married , we realized this isn't going to work . We're broke . We need to combine our income , and that's what we do . We combine our income and we're able to look at the number objectively , rather than mine versus yours . The second thing to relax fully . Or ?

Second question to relax fully , do I need to be away from my spouse ? I'm like wow , like just straight to the heart questions , and this is the thing that really gets me when it comes to other couples . They will ask me because my wife and I are school bus drivers , and they'll ask me .

They'll say don't you ever get tired of working with your mate , or don't you ever get tired of being together all of the time ? I need that time away from my mate and I'm thinking to myself no , I don't . I love my spouse . She's amazing , she's phenomenal and she has my back .

I feel much more secure and safer knowing that my wife is there on the job and can deal and see the problems that I'm going through each and every day , whether it be with kids on my route or even , in some places , management .

It can be hard when your spouse is at one respective line of work and you're at another and you can't really understand each other because the circumstances are different . So it really does create a bridge for empathy and I love that . So ask yourself do you need to relax by getting away from your spouse ?

Here's our final question Do I keep my distance from my spouse's relatives , even though he or she is close to them . My wife has a small family , a very small family to them . My wife has a small family , a very small family . But just because the family is small doesn't mean that the dynamic is small . So small families can also produce big dynamics .

Ask yourself how do you feel about your in-laws ? Do you look for opportunities to yank yourself out of the situation or are you trying to be a part of a new change of circumstances with that relationship , even boyfriend and girlfriend ?

You know , when some of my relatives , some of my relatives , are dating and they bring that person to the house and they're standoffish and they're rude and they don't really engage the family , I kind of find that to be disrespectful . If you're coming into a family , you should try to be a part of that family .

How refreshing it can be when experiences are exchanged that way . So here's some things to discuss with your spouse . In what aspects of our marriage do we work well as a team ? Ask your spouse , express yourself and be honest to the question . In what aspects could we improve to the question and what aspects could we improve ?

What steps can we take to improve our spirit of teamwork ? So pause the podcast , discuss this with your spouse and I'm sure you'll be able to find the biggest benefit . Before we wrap up this theme , here's a tip Imagine a tennis match with two , with the two of you on opposite sides of the net .

Instead , what practical steps can you take to join your spouse so that you are both on the same team ? Powerful illustration you're on one side of the net , your spouse is on the other side of the net and life's problems forms that border or line between the two of you .

So instead of thinking along the lines how can I win , think about how can we both win , and this is very practical even in a relationship . The principle behind this look out not only for your own interest , but also for the interest of others , and so many people today focus on themselves and expect to have positive , unselfish results .

So our theme today second secret of family success , was teamwork .

Continue to cultivate teamwork , and if this was a practical help for you and your family boyfriend , girlfriend , et cetera let me know in the comment box so that we can be able to discuss how refreshing it is when we strive to do better despite the darkness of the world that we have to live in .

Tragic Stories of Accident and Neglect

Our lineup this week filled to the brim with powerful stories . Now this story here that someone asked me . I was on TikTok live and someone asked me to mention this story on this week's episode , episode number seven , if I didn't mention it earlier in the show , and when I read the story my heart was just filled with sadness .

Henrico mother went to check on her son , saw the crash and knew he was gone . Henrico County , virginia , is our first location of this first particular story of this episode . A family is mourning the loss of a beloved teenager who was struck and killed by a driver while walking home from work Sunday evening in Henrico County .

Nathaniel Clark , a 15-year-old sophomore at Hermitage High School , was crossing Staples Mill Road near Hungary Springs Road around 8 pm Sunday when he was struck by a westbound car . Clark was crossing mid-block when he was killed , according to Henrico Police .

Clark's mother said her son loved taking pictures and had recently started his first job at firehouse subs near the crash site . He was working to earn money to purchase equipment for his new hobby . Fisher said she was coming home from her job at a health facility . On Sunday when she tried texting her son , she grew worried when she didn't hear back from him .

The sad thing about this story is that every day , persons will make choices , and the sad outcome is that sometimes their choices will affect our very lives . We send our heartfelt condolences to the Clark family regarding this tragedy . There was a prayer vigil held in his honor .

This story is from September , a few weeks ago but it's been emphasized in this story that it's important for drivers to limit distractions , keep their headlights on and always scan the road for pedestrians . Limit distractions , keep their headlights on and always scan the road for pedestrians .

It's really sad when these things come up on the lineup for news this week . Please , clark family , accept our condolences regarding your tragedy . Accidents will happen from time to time . We all can agree with that . In this following story , though , notice how this accident developed into a great , great tragedy .

A mother charged after allegedly running over her eight-year-old daughter while playing a game . We're in South Bend , indiana . An Indiana mother has been arrested and charged after police say she ran over her 8-year-old daughter at an apartment complex , leaving the girl with severe head injuries .

Jasmine White , 27 , is charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury , as well as neglect of a dependent placing the dependent in a dangerous situation , after police say she ran over her 8-year-old daughter . Now , this incident did happen August the 29th at Cedar Glen Apartments in South Bend , but this is an update .

The 8-year-old girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition after investigators say her foot got caught under the rear tire of her mother's moving vehicle , pulling her to the ground and causing severe head injuries .

Physicians were able to stabilize the girl and she was eventually released from the hospital after several days of intubation and IV sedation , according to court paperwork . According to court paperwork , she was diagnosed with skull and orbital fractures , various abrasions and a large facial laceration that had exposed a portion of the front of her skull .

She also lost five teeth . Witnesses told police that the eight-year-old and several of her siblings were running alongside a Chevrolet equinox that white was driving at the time of the incident .

Police say one of these siblings , a six-year-old , told investigators it was part of a game white routinely plays , where she races the kids to the car , locks the doors and acts as though she is going to leave them behind . Video footage of the incident shows the Equinox increasing in speed while the 8-year-old was still hanging onto the front passenger door handle .

According to a charging document , it's estimated that White was driving approximately 15 to 20 miles per hour when the girl fell . White is due in court Monday afternoon , according to St Joseph County Jail Record . This story in particular .

I'm just at a loss for words when I came across this story and I'm thinking to myself like wow , this is unique , to say the least . There's no telling what the dynamic in this particular family is . But wow , wow , wow , wow . How things can escalate so severely when we just aren't careful in dealing with matters .

Very , very powerful story to follow up our previous one when I first started my podcast . When I first started my podcast , I covered a story about a coach pushing a girl so hard that it rose raised the eyebrows of many onlookers . This story is unique , though it's no different in connection with that first story I ever covered on this podcast .

Investigation underway after middle school cheerleaders left with burn injuries in Texas . Police in Texas are investigating a middle school cheer coach after 13 cheerleaders suffered first and second degree burns during a workout on a sweltering track last week .

According to a report , the girls all eighth graders from Evans Middle School in Lubbock were ordered to do a mile of crab walks and bear crawls on a scorching track as a punishment for performing a disrespectful routine at a recent football game .

According to cheerleaders who spoke with local TV station KLBK , one of the girls had to go to a hospital burn unit for treatment after the Wednesday workout . A parent checked how hot the track was after the practice and said the surface's temperature was 125 degrees .

The cheerleader's parents said police launched an investigation and are hoping for criminal charges against the teacher , who has been placed on leave pending a school investigation . This is a perfect example of what not to do as a school teacher , coach , administrator or whatever . I drive school buses all year round . They get hot .

A school bus is not insulated , so let's not tickle ourselves with the notion that a school bus without AC is acceptable to drive . In the summer this is no different . This can be a form of child endangerment , man . So this teacher I hope that they learned a valuable lesson .

And for you students who are dealing with this tragedy , these burns we are so sorry to hear about this and we're hoping that you're going to have a well recovery . Continue to follow the instructions of the doctors and your parents . And for those who might bully you , try your best to ignore them .

There's no need to give attention to those who say unkind words for unnecessary reasons regarding serious matters . So now we're entering the eerie aspect of the podcast . I say eerie because these stories are frequent , prevalent and constant .

School Scandals and Parental Support

It's our first story of teacher assault , substitute teacher at Newport News Elementary School charged with assault . We're in Newport News , virginia .

A substitute teacher at Riverside Elementary School is facing assault charges after an alleged incident with a student on Wednesday , police said A parent reported to police that a substitute teacher had pushed her child's head toward her desk during class . The substitute teacher , 31-year-old Sherrod Smithen , was charged with misdemeanor assault and was served with a warrant .

On thursday night , police said a spokesperson for the school system confirmed mr smithen was hired as a substitute teacher in september of this year . He has been pulled from serving as a substitute and newport news public schools and , as a result , as of this story , rather no additional details were released . I find that to be interesting , though .

School right now . I'm looking at my watch . An elbow just cracked . It's october the 17th and it's it hasn't even been a full two months of school and teachers are just off the hook already . They're off the hook . I've seen the hook and these teachers are definitely off of it .

So this story is unique because of how rapid things have progressed , but then again , maybe it's not , because there were several assaults of violence right there on the first day of school on my show .

So I know that this is not easy for a parent to deal with , but if you try your best to stay calm and reason rationally , rationalize with this situation , you can be in the best possible position to comfort your child through this devastation . In this particular story that we're going to discuss next , I need your feedback .

Let me know if you guys agree with the parents in the situation or if you are agreeing with how things were handled completely . Let me know what you guys are thinking . Parents who For this next story ? I do need your feedback and response . Guys , hit that comment box , don't hesitate . Let me know what's up . Here's our story .

Parents sue Hingham High School after their son was punished for using AI to complete a paper . Hingham , massachusetts . The family of a Hingham High School student is suing the school after the student was accused of cheating when he used AI to help complete a paper . This case could now spark changes at schools across the state .

Parents , jennifer and Dale Harris , said Hingham High School teachers , administrators and the school district have unfairly punished their son after he used AI on a history paper .

The Harris family said the Hingham High School handbook never mentioned the use of AI until this incident with their son and that they only added a language read regarding AI to the handbook this year . Jennifer , a writer , and her husband Dale , a school teacher , are well aware of the debate of AI .

Their lawsuit said that their son only used AI as a tool to do research and not to write the paper . However , the school saw it differently , punishing him with detention , and his grade suffered as a result . This meant he was not allowed into the National Honor Society and now he is also at a risk of getting into his top choice of schools .

Their lawyers said their case shows there should be policies around using AI in schools . The Harris family said they now want the school to update and change its AI policies so that they are more clear . The story is still developing , but , man , that's quite a dynamic there .

What can you do when the school has deemed something that your child is doing or has done as unreasonable ? Well , I appreciate . I will say I do appreciate that the parents are involved , so they're not using mediators to fight this battle for them .

They are literally involved with the circumstance and that's incredible because a lot of these issues can be resolved with parental assistance and guidance . I covered a story some time ago in which a student refused to remove his American flags at the guidance of his school . The administrators and people took that story out of context .

They said that I was being this particular way and supporting that , and that's not what RED is about . We're not a political podcast . We don't pick sides in these issues , but rather we focus on the people . The most important thing in these stories that , but rather we focus on the people .

The most important thing in these stories that I cover is that the people who hear these stories . They get encouragement , they get fortification and strength to move on past the negativity , and the victims involved in the story get some sort of comfort to know that they're not alone in their struggles and the challenges of everyday life in the school system .

Parents , administrators , challenges of everyday life in the school system , parents , administrators . In this story , the boy took it upon himself to go against the school's wishes . My commentary get your parents involved , get your parents involved . It's nice to know that , even though this is not a favorable circumstance .

The Harris family is supporting their child the right way . When your parents are involved , they can help you get better results rather than you just coming off a certain way to other individuals . Again , this isn't a jab at anyone , but it's just a reminder how much of a support parents can be .

They can use and get legal representation to help you legally establish your rights , which is important . There's no need to be violent or aggressive or to be confrontational unnecessarily with great violence and rage . Use the channel , the means to establish certain circumstances and you'll find success .

So we're hoping that this situation is dealt with in a way that will dignify the student , the parents , and that the school will be able to learn how to deal with this moving forward , powerful , powerful story for us . At times our parents may disagree with our decisions . That's normal . That's normal student , parent excuse me me child parent relations .

That that's going to happen from time to time . But sometimes in today's world , parents take the extra step at getting their point across and this story , however , it led to tragedy and we do express our condolences . Dad sentenced for fatally beating teen daughter he did not trust after argument over attending high school prom .

An Illinois father will spend decades behind bars for killing his teenage daughter after an argument over the girl attending her high school prom , according to multiple news reports . According to multiple news reports , mohammed Almaru , 44 , was sentenced on October 7th to 55 years in prison for the May 2022 beating death of his 17-year-old daughter , mia Amaru .

Authorities said he was convicted of first-degree murder in connection with the case in August . All three outlets report Fox 32 , WGN-TV and CBS News . On the night of May 1 , 2022 , maru was found dead in the family's Tinley Park , illinois home , according to court documents obtained by CBS News home .

According to court documents obtained by CBS News , police who responded to the scene reported that Amaru had self-inflicted wounds and had taken pills in an apparent suicide attempt . An autopsy revealed the 17-year-old had suffered extensive bruising to her arms , legs , skull and face .

According to court documents cited by WGN-TV , it further revealed that Maru had an extensive brain , hemorrhaging and bleeding . The outlet reports , citing court documents , that Amaru hit his daughter in the head multiple times with a metal pole and rubber mallet , both of which were found with the girl's blood at the scene . Wow , powerful , powerful story that develops .

I can't believe that a father would take these circumstances into his own hands and end the life of his child for something that is so simple , whether to go to a school , prom or not . I can't imagine how you students are feeling , those who knew this individual . It's a sad , sad story , but these unexpected tragedies can be met with success .

Surround yourself by people whom you love and care about . Do not , for a second , hold in the grief that you're going through . It's not easy to deal with the grief , but it's necessary to communicate that grief to someone , to the family of our dear victim . Please accept our heartfelt condolences .

Continue to support one another as you move through this journey of grief . From the RED team , we wish you a well means in regard to this story . But this story really stirred me up emotionally . I can't believe some of the things that people do this day and age . It really just blows my mind . Our following story .

There are times in life when you think that you can trust a particular individual , and that may be true . You might have a trust for someone , or you might think that you can trust a person . This next story highlights , though , how tragic it is when the individuals we think that we can trust turn out to be the very persons that we should be avoiding .

Albuquerque middle school teacher among eight charged in child predator operation . We're now in Albuquerque , new Mexico .

A New Mexico attorney general , raul Torres , joined alongside the FBI , homeland Security Investigations and multiple local law enforcement , held a news conference on the arrests and charges of eight suspected child predators in New Mexico on Monday , october 14 . Currently , there is a warrant for a ninth arrest .

Operation Overwatch is an undercover online chat investigation spearheaded by the New Mexico Department of Justice . Stephan Charles Phillips , albuquerque Middle School teacher . According to documents provided by NMDOJ during its presser , phillips is listed as a middle school teacher in Albuquerque . Count 1 . Sexual exploitation of children by prostitution Hires attempt . Count 2 .

Criminal sexual penetration attempt Child under 13 . According to NMDOJ , all eight have been charged with crimes , including child solicitation via electronic devices , attempted criminal sexual penetration and other related offenses . Each defendant had sought to engage in sexual activity with a minor A minor .

Accounts used in operation from online platforms involve kick , skip the games , moco , space , discord , grinder , fet , life and sniffies . So you see here constantly teachers being involved in these practices . There are lessons that can be able to help us and it really ties into our theme , especially for parents .

My wife and I were discussing today , if she were to get pregnant , what would we do ? How would we handle that circumstance ? Well , I'll tell you , guys , we would make sure that we are going to actively meet with the parents the teachers , rather of all of our kids . We're not going to leave it to chance . We would know the vice principal and the principal .

We would have to look these people in their eye , face to face , and try to be proactive . We would regularly check on our children at school and make sure our presence is known . Now , of course , with all of those best efforts , you still may not be able to know what this individual is up to .

However , if you don't show your presence at the school , then the staff can easily conclude that the child is not cared about , and then these sorts of things can happen . It also reminds us , as folks that can have kids or parents , to be proactive and being aware of what kind of media and association our children are involved in .

A lot of parents don't know how these apps work . I don't even know if I said one of the names , right MoCo Space Never heard of it . So being active and trying to get this information as a parent can do wonders in protecting your child from these influences . Personally , I've never used the bathroom at my school .

The stalls were disgusting , they smelled like a bathroom and I mean that in the most worst possible way . I mean I've never thought or had the desire to use bathrooms in high school . But in this particular school they are taking a very different approach in connection with how they run their bathroom system .

Orange County High School requiring students to scan a QR code before using the bathroom . Before using the bathroom , a Huntington Beach high school ditched hall passes and replaced them with QR codes , leaving some kids uneasy . The new policy asked students to scan a QR code to leave a classroom .

Green said that he doesn't want to be told when or how long he can use the restrooms , while some of his peers are concerned about their privacy being compromised . Principal Daniel Morris told the Orange County Register that it's not a strict policy but rather guidelines for students who want to leave class and go to the bathroom , nurse library or wellness center .

He added it's something not all of the teachers have implemented . Students complained that three bathroom breaks a day with a seven minute time limit is not enough . Other students , like Alyssa Williams , opposed the guidelines because of the number of bathrooms scattered around the schools oppose the guidelines because of the number of bathrooms scattered around the schools .

There is an online petition that has amassed more than 450 signatures as of Tuesday . The petition aims to replace the current bathroom policy with a more compassionate and health conscious approach . I've never seen . I've never seen such such things in all my life . I love my show man . I love my podcast .

These are the things that just blow my mind in the school environment . I couldn't imagine having to whip out my phone every time I had to go to the john Guys comment in the box below about this story and let me know how it's made you feel . On episode number seven of RED , the Everyday Podcast .

Man , this is , I'm not laughing , I swear I'm not laughing , but I'm just trying to figure out what the school was thinking Like . Do we ever like get together and discuss these things , or do we just say hey , hey , ralph , by the way , I'm thinking about QR coding the bathrooms , so let's just throw that in the pot and keep that going ?

That's what I'm thinking . I hope there was more thought to this . I hope there was more thought . This following story does find its way to us , on a very sad note To the families of this individual we do express our heartfelt condolences and for you students who cherished this administrator , please know you have our love and support from the RED team .

Milagro Middle School Assistant Principal killed in car crash on Sunday . We're now in Santa Fe , new Mexico . Santa Fe Public Schools announced a middle school assistant principal has died after a car accident . According to the district , sue Gregg , an assistant principal at Milagro Middle School , was killed after a car accident Sunday night .

A teacher was also injured in the crash . The district said Gregg was a dedicated educator and a loved member of the school community . They also say she made an impact on everyone who worked with her and was committed to her students and staff . The district will provide support and resources to those in the school community who may need them .

Well , guys , although we are not there physically with you regarding this story , please accept our love . We truly cherish each and every one of you guys and we know that this death can really be a load of depression and anxiety when dealing with the rest of the school year .

Please reach out in the comment box and let us know how this teacher or administrator affected you and what you're going to miss most about her and connection with your time with her . Teachers will continue to do things that I personally don't understand . I think this is the week of substitute teachers .

This is the second story that was powerful in connection with what one substitute teacher Decided to do in connection with handling a student Like I'm not really sure what the teacher was thinking .

School Incidents

Substitute teacher accused of reenacting George Floyd . Floyd made racially harmful comments and twisted a student's arm behind the child's back during classes at a Woodbury , minnesota high school . Minnesota High School . The incident occurred Monday during four English classes at Woodbury High School School and district officials said in a letter to the school community .

The substitute teacher , steve Williams , was removed from the classroom and barred from stepping foot on any district property . He cannot be reached Thursday at a phone number listed for him .

School officials said Williams allegedly put a student on the ground in front of the class as part of a reenactment of the police actions that resulted in the murder of George Floyd , a black man who died in 2020 after a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nine and a half minutes as Floyd pleaded for help and said he could not breathe .

His death sparks months of racial justice protests in cities around the world . The former officer , derek , was convicted of murder , sharing explicit information about two sexual assault cases he worked on , sharing the names of people he arrested and speaking at length about his gun collection .

According to the letter , students also reported that Williams allegedly twisted a student's arm behind the student's back and showed pressure points on the chin and face , fake punched a student while discussing a bar fight and mimicked holding up a gun and pointing it at students . The letter states so I'm not really sure what's going on here .

This is a lot in this particular story . The letter goes on to include inappropriate remarks Williams allegedly made , including a statement that cops would be the best criminals and saying that police brutality isn't real , he said . Allegedly , williams said that he thought the high schoolers wanted to hear about his life as a police officer .

According to school and district officials , this is a very troubling story . I mean , wow , this is so . I didn't originally know that this man was a police officer .
