Has the safety of our schools been compromised? This episode is chock-full of eye-opening discussions on serious incidents impacting students in our schools across the country. We kick-start the conversation with a heartbreaking incident of a drive-by shooting at Central High School in Newark, New Jersey, and a disturbing case of AI-created explicit images being shared by male students in Westfield High School.

We don’t stop there. We proceed to analyze the rising concern of weapons in schools, referencing an incident at Marc Della Middle High and the stabbing at Copper Hills High School. The discussion broadens as we delve into the controversial Policy 8040 of Loudoun County Public Schools, which has spurred a wave of protests from high school students voicing their safety concerns. We also shed light on the prevalent power imbalance between teachers and students, the shocking incident of a school bus driver charged with simple battery, and the daily struggle faced by a parent of a severely bullied student at Princeton Middle School.

Our conversation is not complete without addressing the multiple threats and incidents that continue to plague our schools. We scrutinize the case of Lily Whitworth's planned attack on Colorado Springs middle schools, a substitute teacher's arrest at Hingham Middle School in Massachusetts, and an 11-year-old student in Hawaii charged with attempted murder following a scissor-stabbing incident. We conclude with a thought-provoking dialogue on bullying and the crucial role parents play in shaping their children's behavior. This episode is indeed a wake-up call for all of us to address school violence, hold the responsible parties accountable, and ensure our children's safety. So, are you ready to join the conversation?

Incidents Impacting Students, Parental Responsibility

Speaker 1

Guys , welcome back to another episode of RED , the everyday podcast for the everyday people . And , guys , it's red light hour and , as always , it's good to be here with you . Guys , I am . Let's see this episode .

I'm going to dedicate it all to parents , and the reason for that is because a lot of the things that these students are dealing with today I strongly feel as though they can be prevented or dealt with if parents stepped up and did their part .

There are things that are going on around the world in connection with young persons that parents are just not aware of , and the sad truth about it is that , unfortunately , it's the children who suffer . That's my model .

It's the children who suffer in connection with these things that parents are failing or neglecting to take care of , and this first story we're going to see evidence of that . We're going now into New Jersey .

You guys know here , born and raised in New Jersey , in fact , this is my home city and I will say after this story , I'm so glad that I keep it at a distance . Nj student wounded in drive-by shooting outside high school . A North teenager was injured in a drive-by shooting outside his high school during a fire drill Monday afternoon .

Authorities said the shooting occurred at 12.05 pm outside Central High School on 18th Avenue in North's Central Ward , said Catherine Adams , a spokesperson for the North Department of Public Safety . Adams said the male student was taken to University Hospital in North where he is in stable condition .

A district spokesperson , nancy Deering , said the injured student was outside the school with classmates during a fire drill when the shooting occurred . We are working with authorities as this matters under investigation . Deering said in an email Monday . All other students have resumed their schedule and they were dismissed at the regular time .

Deering said the school would open as scheduled on Tuesday , that's today . North Board of Education President Hassani Council said he and fellow board members were saddened by the incident . Council said there was a police presence at the school and that the building was blocked off throughout the afternoon and beyond the 2.40 pm .

Dismissal Police said they have no motive or arrests in the shooting . Central has about 840 students and is one of the 18 high schools in the North Public Schools District , new Jersey's largest district , with 39,000 students and 63 traditional public schools and 20,000 charter schools . Council said he cannot recall another shooting at a Newark school .

Neither could the president of the Newark Teachers Union , john Abigone . They are not that frequent in this city . Considering our size and that it's an urban district . I said Abigone . I feel our staff is safer in this city than in a lot of other urban districts .

Aside from what was commented by this individual here , I'm going to have to say that to no For the families in question here . For the person that was injured , the student , we send our warm wishes from this podcast . When I was in school , there were threats , there were challenges , but nothing to this degree .

It seems that someone decided to take it upon themselves to open fire into a crowd of this evacuated high school and it's very , very difficult to know just how close we are to these circumstances . It was a drive by shooting .

There have been no arrest and no suspects are in the lead in connection with this story , but obviously parents are concerned , and that's one of the things that parents really have to give attention to today , especially those contemplating having children . You have to make sure that your children are going to be in the best of environments .

It's true this could have transpired a lot worse than it did , but the fact of the matter is what is a lot worse than the circumstance ?

It could have been that the person that was shot in the shoulder , this young teenage boy , could it be the possible worst is him dying , because why wait for such a tragic outcome to transpire if you can prevent it by just seeking to relocate to another location ? Again , guys , full support is here with you and we wish you guys all the best .

At Central High School in Norfolk . In this next story , people often question the do's and don'ts of technology . Some people know the do's and some people know the don'ts , and then there are people who just do the don't cares .

Well , in this next story , there is going to be quite a bit of bustle in connection with how people teenagers are deciding to use technology in this . Westfield , new Jersey High School . Ai generated nude images of girls at NJ High School .

Trigger Police Probe AI generated pornographic images of female students at a New Jersey High School were circulated by male classmates , sparking parent uproar and a police investigation .

According to a report , students at Westfield High School located in Westfield , a town about 25 miles west of Manhattan where the average household income is $259,377 a year , according to Forbes in the Wall Street Journal that one or more classmates use an online AI backed tool to create the racy images and then shared them with peers .

A mother whose daughter is a student at Westfield High School , recounting what her child told her to the journal , said sophomore boys at the school were acting weird . On Monday , multiple girls started asking questions and finally , on October 20th , one boy revealed what all the whispering was about .

At least one student had used girls photos found online to create the fake nudes and then shared them with other boys in group chats .

Per the journal , several female students were also reportedly told by school administrators that boys had identified them in the fake pornographic images , parents said , though a spokesperson for the high school declined to tell the journal whether staff members had seen the photos .

Another parent , dorada Mani , said her 14-year-old daughter , francesca was told by the school that her photo was used to generate a fake nude image known as deep fake . I am terrified by how this is going to surface and when my daughter has a bright future and no one can guarantee this won't impact her professionally , academically or socially .

The concerned mother said she doesn't want her daughter in school with anyone who created the images and confirmed that she filed a police report . According to Visual Threat Intelligence Company , more than 90% of deep fake images are pornographic .

Many also use celebrities likeness , such as a recent viral video where an AI generated deep fake showed supermodel Bella Hadid Hadid , whose father is Palestinian , expressed support for Israel . Now the interesting thing about this story that I find is the accountability is lacking . So far , the administration has done nothing .

The female students at Westfield High School are terrified , as well as they should be . It's unfortunate because these things circulate , these things escalate and innocent people pay the price every single time . But here's the big question when are the parents ? Where are the people that need to be held responsible for their child's actions ?

You see , often times , when it comes to certain environments and certain areas , parents give their children a little bit of leeway . But I firmly understand and believe that leeway should be given to a child if they can prove responsibility .

So , for example , if you can operate technology in a safe , wholesome way that's going to build others up and you've demonstrated that sincerely then use it as a child , and the parental guidance , of course .

But if you discern that your child is not ready to use that technology , it's up to you as the parent , to confiscate it , to make it go away , because now there's a bigger situation on the hands of these persons involved .

Now it's not clear as to what's going to happen in connection with this circumstance because , according to our source , it makes mention that they can't even trace how many students were involved and whom was involved with this incident .

At this moment it's still under investigation , but we wish all of you guys there and Westfield , from parents , administration and the female students involved a well success in connection with this developing story .

Here's a follow up story that finds itself on a bitter sweet Well , actually it would just be a bitter undertone , because the unforeseen occurrences that we find ourselves dealing with each and every day can be a challenge and oftentimes you don't really know how to meet these challenges . You don't get the support that you would like .

Sometimes people don't know what to say . Here's our next story Delta College Warder Polo player killed and stalked and crashed . Officials said the 18 year old was involved in a crash near Baker Street and Park Street . This is Stockton , california . A San Joaquin Delta College Warder Polo player was killed in an accident over the weekend in Stockton .

The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner's office identified the 18 year old as Makayla Crespin of Stockton . Police said she died at a hospital after being involved in a two car crash around 6 30 pm Sunday near Baker Street and Park Street . The other driver was also treated for injuries .

A spokesperson for Delta College confirmed she was a student at the college and played on the Warder Polo team . Her teammates memorialized her on Instagram , calling her a bright light on the team with an infectious smile and someone who radiated so much positivity . She was an amazing teammate and showed her love and kindness to everyone she met .

She was a great prankster , bracelet maker and had the best pajama pant collection . She touched the lives of so many people and we are so glad that we at Delta got to spend so many hours and weekends with her here on the Everyday Podcast . To the family of Kayla Crespin we extend our warmest and sincerest condolences .

It's unfortunate as she was born in 2005 and passed away October 30th , on 2023 of 2023 , and it's difficult when you lose a child . Many parents struggle with that for days , months , weeks , even years and years after the tragic loss . But what I really appreciate about this story is that people are speaking up .

When you lose someone in death , the most important thing to do is to speak up . Make sure that you get your feelings out there , out of your heart and onto a page , a diary , a book that can help you to cope .

One thing that I will say about this story that I truly cherish is , although Kayla was quite young here she was born August 31st 2005 and she fell asleep in death October 30th of 2023 the positivity I can really appreciate the students speaking up for her in connection with their feelings .

You see , often times when we lose someone in death , we try to hold on to those emotions and keep them to ourselves , but I can tell you from experience that that's not the best way to cope with grief .

I know that you guys are having a difficult time in connection with this loss and again we send our love and support to you from this podcast , to your family and friends and all those who knew Kayla Crespin . Here's our follow-up story . Again , another story on the tragic , tragic topic of death Family mourns .

Harnett Central High School teacher killed in a car crash . A teacher at Harnett Central High School died unexpectedly in a car crash on Thursday . The State Highway Patrol said Wendy Vance , who taught English courses at HCHS , was killed in a car crash around 6 15 am On Friday .

Wral News spoke with Scott Vance and Emily Vance , wendy's husband and daughter , who said Wendy was a woman who made an impact in the community and the school system . She's taught thousands of students and mentored many teachers out there as far as when they were getting started .

Scott said In addition to more than a decade of teaching , wendy coached cross-country and track and field at Overhills High School . Her daughter cherished the memories she had of running cross-country for her mom alongside her brother . She was an amazing coach and taught my brother and I . Emily said they taught us dedication and to be resilient .

We've taken that into our adult lives as well . Now , according to Trooper to a trooper , vance was traveling north on Tingen Road when she attempted to pass a box truck in a no passing zone . Her car hit another car head on and spun out the box truck she tried to pass , then rear ended her .

I think she ended up in that particular situation making that wrong move , being a little impatient . Scott Vance said she was a go-getter . Unfortunately it was just a tragic mistake that happened when she tried to pass that vehicle . Vance died from her injuries . The Hardett County School released a statement about the passing of Vance , a very sobering .

It mentions here that HCS is deeply saddened to hear about the death of Wendy Vance , an English teacher at Hardett Central High School . Our thoughts are with her family , teachers , friends and students during this difficult time . Again , on this podcast , we want to echo those sentiments in connection with the loss of Ms Vance .

Losing any person is devastating , but even more adding to that tragedy is when there's a beloved teacher involved , someone that's a mentor to you , that you love , care about and cherish . That can linger for quite some time For the students involved or who know Ms Vance .

Guys don't forget to speak freely to someone , even something as simple as dropping a comment down on this thread . That will allow you to continue to grow from these experiences , to get better at your communication and to assist the persons who may be dealing with this a little bit down the road after you might be .

Now , the interesting thing in this next story that I find is once again we're dealing with students Just bringing gun violence back into the school environment . Every week , it seems that a student is dealing with the challenge of not knowing when to let something go , and it's becoming more and more prevalent .

In this next story we find ourselves in Waikomiko County . A student brings gun to school . We're going to Marc Della Springs , maryland , a Gun at Waikomiko County School leads to serious charges for one student .

Gun and Stabbing at High School

The Waikomiko County Sheriff's Department says a teenager created a scary situation at Marc Della Middle High , middle and high school today . They say a 13-year-old brought an unloaded 9 millimeter handgun to school Thursday morning . Captain Richard White Wiresburg says the system worked the way it was supposed to . He says another student reported their concerns .

Wiresburg says the student heard something , came forward , talked to an administrator and then they looked into it . It's the way the system is supposed to work . He says the situation was de-escalated before class began and he highlights the importance of having a school resource officer . Parents say they weren't notified of the situation almost immediately .

They we are noticing that the investigation continues . No further information here . It also does add , though the student is facing charges like possession of a firearm by a minor and disturbing school operations . Again my question where are the parents in these scenarios ? Why is it that these children are left through their own devices ?

Sometimes it's not a matter of a child being bad . Sometimes it's a child being neglected , a child not feeling loved or cared about .

Parents have to be be honest with themselves and ask am I doing everything in my power to make sure that my child has a fighting chance , because if I'm not doing my part as a parent , what makes me think that my child is gonna care , that my child is going to want to do better ? That's the sad reality of the circumstances we live in today .

Well , we wish you guys all the best in connection with this story . We know that this disciplinary action is going to be taken , but as far as the student who are surrounding this story , who may be a bit apprehensive to return to school , or even scared , speak with your guidance counselor . Freely express yourself . Don't hold back those emotions .

I can't stress that enough enough . I know that I mentioned it quite a time or two throughout the podcast . I'll mention it on several stories about communicating and being opened up . Being opened up because the thing about communication people don't realize is it does work . Now , of course , communication is not magic .

It's going to take some time , some efforts and positivity , but if you put the effort in to communicate , then I know that things will get better . You just have to be patient , continue to communicate , continue to express yourself and watch out for yourselves in connection With things that you may see developing and transpiring .

Here's our next story Student hospitalized after stabbing at Copper Hills High School . We're going now into West Jordan , utah . A Student was seriously hurt and two others arrested Thursday afternoon following a stabbing outside a West Jordan high school .

Sergeant Kendall Halt , with West Jordan police , said the stabbing happened around 12 30 pm At Copper Hills High School , adding that it appeared to be an isolated incident . Two of the students involved were arrested . The victim was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition on Thursday night . Police said the victim was in stable condition after undergoing surgery .

The stabbing remains under investigation and it's still unclear what led to the violence

School Violence and Bathroom Policy Protest

. A Short video of the incident was shared with ABC 4 by a parent who told the station that the footage is circulating among students at the school . The video appears to show a fight between a small group of students on a sidewalk just outside the building , but due to the video's low quality it's difficult to tell what exactly happened .

The parent , who wanted to remain anonymous , said she hopes the school district will learn from the Disincident . I've had three boys go to Copper Hills and my last one goes next year . The parents said I'm hesitant of the gang problem within the school . It somehow needs to be monitored better . The parent added the hatred of these kids is frightening .

Following the stabbing , the school went into lockdown . As an additional precaution , the school was placed on a lockout where all the exterior doors were locked . As police investigated , the school said in a statement I can't agree more with mom in connection with what she expressed about . The hatred of these kids is frightening .

It's so true even down to the type of work that I do . Children are so aggressive and angry and in that part about it is I don't know as to why you don't pay bills , you don't pay rent , you don't have to worry about surgeries , etc . Etc , etc . So what is it that makes these children so frustrated ?

Well , as was mentioned a few stories ago , a lack of love in the family . If a parent would take the time out to spend quality time with their Kid , they could make better way for emotional stability . But the sad truth is , guys , parents don't care today . In fact , a lot of people don't care today . That's one of the main reasons why I'm here each week .

You have to feel at some point that you are cared about , that you are loved by someone . All of my followers , all of my subscribers , you guys are family to me . A lot of people will ask me why do I do this ? Do you do it because you're trying to get YouTube bugs and trying to be a YouTube sensation ? Not at all . I have money . I have a job .

For goodness sake , I'm not just living on the street here trying to make YouTube videos to support Myself . That that's not why I'm here . I'm here because someone has to care . Someone has to .

When I go on my Instagram reels and I see videos of young people looting places , when I when I go on my tiktok and I see young girls just doing things that that is not becoming , of young girls Undignifying themselves , allowing boys to treat and talk to them in each type of way , I say to myself why not try to do something a little bit better ?

Each week , I come to you guys because I care , and as long as there's breath within me to be able to produce this content , I'm gonna do it . It doesn't matter what the light count says . It doesn't matter what the follower count says .

I can have two followers , one subscriber and still be coming at you strong each and every week , because I care about you guys . You guys are family , and if someone doesn't speak up from time to time , then no one feels cared about . And this next story the students are speaking up and We'll see how things are going to develop .

High school students walk out of class and protest of transgender bathroom policy . Students at a Virginia high school in Loudoun County Public Schools walked out in protest of the district's gender policy that allows non-binary gender fluid and transgender students to use whichever school bathrooms and locker rooms they want , based on their chosen gender .

Around 50 to 100 students at Woodgrove High School in Purcellville , virginia , participated in the walkout to protest . Policy 8040 was the Loudoun County School Board , implemented in 2021 .

The students said they wanted LCP as to avert to a policy that provided female and male only spaces , including bathrooms , locker rooms and showers and the locker rooms in the morning .

It's an invasion of privacy , as I said , because when men and natural born males are in our locker rooms and they are showering in the morning , natural born females can walk in there as they please . One male high school student told WJLA and that is not okay and it goes against what we believe in .

A Female student told the local news outlet she stopped using the bathroom at school because of the policy , calling it a massive safety risk LCP S doesn't do anything about . We express these concerns and they ignore us and write us off as right wing crazies . She said we're not crazy . We just don't want to be in danger on a daily basis in this building .

I think it's people finally stepping up and just being sick of it . We're sick of being here and just being completely ignored . I stopped using the bathrooms because I don't know what's going to happen to me in there and people can be like , oh Well , that's paranoid . I'm telling you , right now , half the women in this building feel the same way .

She added we don't use the bathrooms . We hold our pee until we can't . I mean , there are girls in PE who still get changed in the bathroom stalls in there because they're afraid of who might waltz in . Another male student told WJLA that he would like to be able to change after football practice and not feel Uncomfortable that other genders are watching him .

I feel that girls feel the same way about the situation . How would you feel if you were a female changing with the male , he asked ? Loudon County Schools responded to a request for comment , making mention that the Loudon County School Board will follow this established process in its review of the latest model policies issued by the Virginia Department of Education .

Policy 8040 is currently under review , along with the new model policies by the student services committee . The interesting thing about this story , and just really briefly , really briefly If everyone would take the minute , take a minute , a second , to respect one another , then there can be a better path for peace .

But oftentimes a person's today focus on what they want . They focus more on their needs , and when that it takes place If Johnny is trying to focus on his needs and Mary is trying to focus on her needs , then there's no middle there . There's always going to be a two persons on very , very different sides of the issues .

Well , we wish you guys down there in Virginia the best in being able to deal with this situation , because it is a unique situation that students are finding themselves in more and more each and every day . Another situation that continues to disturb schools all around the world Is in this follow-up story Georgia middle school teacher arrested charged with molestation .

Andrew Goswick allegedly had inappropriate contact with students over social media . According to the Sheriff's Office , a Douglas County Georgia middle school teacher faces serious charges of child molestation after a nearly month-long investigation that led to his arrest .

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation October 4th after receiving a tip that a Turner Middle School teacher had inappropriate contact with a student over social media .

The 48-year-old teacher , andrew Goswick , is alleged to have communicated with multiple female students late at night , the Sheriff's Office said , and without consent of the student's parents . Investigators learned that the conversations between Goswick and the students involved sexually explicit material , leading to the Sheriff's Office obtaining warrants for the teacher's arrest .

Both search and arrest warrants were executed at Goswick's residence on October 27th and he was ultimately taken into custody . He has been charged with child molestation , a felony , and is currently being held without bond at the Douglas County Jail . To all the families , the parents and the children involved in this incident , we wish you guys the

Issues at School

best as well . In connection with this continuous developing story , a teacher , a mentor , is supposed to be someone that you can trust , someone that has your back , someone that is always going to look out for you .

And when it seems that that power has been abused and a child is left susceptible to certain advances by this mentor , this person , it doesn't turn out well for anyone in this situation . It does not turn out well for anyone in this situation , these simple pleasures that people find themselves pursuing in life , these quick fix ideas to happiness , as it were .

They never lead to positive , long-lasting results . I was watching Boy Meets World the other day and I'm on season 6 , and this episode where Topanga's professor makes an advance at him and Corey rightly so well , corey , because of frustration , he pushes this man and he falls to the ground .

Long story short , corey gets suspended because of what happened between him and the teacher . And it was just interesting , because these are the type of situations you have to deal with each and every day , and the hardest part of these situations is trying to maintain a cool , calm and collected head on your shoulders .

That's the challenge and the uniqueness of these situations . So we know that it's going to take a lot of emotional toll on parents to deal with something like that , but again , take your time guys .

Communicate to a person , speak with others who may have dealt with a similar situation , and then how to be able to take steps to help the children that have been affected , because that's what's most important . School Bus driver pins middle schooler and chokes him . Video shows now he's charged . Yeah , we're going now into Louisiana .

A school bus driver has been charged after a video emerged that appears to show him shoving a Louisiana middle school student and pinning him against the window . The driver faces a charge of simple battery . According to the Jefferson-Paris Sheriff's Office , the incident happened October 30th on the campus of Marrero Middle School .

A spokesperson for the school district told McClatchy News in a statement . The video shared by WVUE shows the student trying to get out of his row and the driver shoves him back and slaps him . Eventually the driver appears to pin the student against the window with his hands wrapped around the boy's neck as other students protest .

The driver was employed by the school district transportation vendor first student and was not a direct employee of the school district . The spokesperson said he has since resigned . First student said the interesting thing about this story that I found to be quite shocking is that I'm thinking that this driver is in their 30s , young driver in their 20s .

A family member of the student contacted the sheriff's office about the incident with the 77-year-old bus driver . The driver is 77 years old .

What's happening now is calling into question people's mentality in connection with whether these persons should be allowed to deal with children anymore , because there are some older drivers who are just very angry and aggressive with children . I'm thinking to myself you have to be reasonable when dealing with other people's children .

No , you cannot allow anything on your school bus , but at the same time you cannot manhandle or discipline someone else's child abruptly like that . And then the fact that he resigned walked off the spot and we'll see what happens to him . He's going to be charged with a simple battery , but if they can find him , I reckon here's our follow-up story .

This one touched me . This story was really touching because students don't realize just how much their actions can affect others . But again , it goes right back to parents . If the parents are implementing it at home , it's not going to be implemented in school . Officials take steps to stop bathroom vandalism .

At Mansfield Middle School , vandalism and other issues have led to the closure of some student bathrooms at Qualture's Middle School and other steps to alleviate the problems . We have been working to reduce troubling behavior in our grade seven and eight boys and girls bathrooms . This is Principal David McGovern .

Vandalism included writing on and carving into walls , destroying soap and paper towel dispensers and damaging ceiling tiles . Why , guys ? Why ? This has been the most significant concern , mcgovern said . However , there have been other problems with the bathrooms .

The staff are reporting to the main office that there are groups of students congregating in both boys and girls bathrooms . Vaping has been another issue . This is the least frequent concern , mcgovern said . However , we have had a higher number of reports about vaping in bathrooms . Students typically are observed vaping alone in a stall .

These issues have not manifested themselves in our sixth grade . Mcgovern said School officials want to make sure students have access to clean and comfortable restrooms . This is according to Superintendent Teresa Murphy . Adding . Several steps have been taken 1 .

There are now two bathrooms for seventh and eighth grade students , staffed by monitors , and students using the restrooms have to have their ID cards scanned . As soon as we put monitors outside , the vandalism stopped . Murphy said we have a staff member stationed outside these bathrooms to ensure that there is never more than three people in a bathroom at one time .

Mcgovern said they also have students sign in and sign out and periodically inspect the bathroom for damage when it is vacant . More monitors are being sought . In the meantime , teachers are volunteering to cover during their preparation period and we are using existing lunch monitors and substitute teaching staff .

Mcgovern said we have closed two other sets of bathrooms to students . He added , we are actively hiring for two additional monitors to help staff these bathrooms . It's just sad . This is one of the saddest stories that I've ever ever had to encounter , because it does not have to be like this . I don't know why young people are on edge lately .

I don't know what , why young people feel as though they have to express themselves through violence and rage , but their school them in this again here with the interesting thing about this it's a middle school . You're talking about sixth , seventh and eighth graders . They're at that age in their life where they should be wanting to do better and they're not .

That they're not . I Don't know what makes young people so angry or aggressive , but I hope that it gets better for you guys . We wish you all the best down there in that local middle school , and we know it's gonna be a lot for the staff to keep up with . Teachers today have so much that they need to worry about in connection with being a teacher .

It's not just going into the school and in teaching or going into the classroom and teaching . It's worrying about school shootings . It's worrying about protecting the kids that you teach , the ones that you love . It's literally you putting your life in the forefront , but then when students don't cooperate , it makes it all the more difficult .

So again , we hope that things do stabilize and cultures middle school and we wish you and the staff , teachers , parents who are well-intentioned , and other students who are going through these difficult times , those innocent ones who get thrown in with the ones who are not doing the right thing Hang in there , guys , because day by day it does get better .

Here's our follow-up story student hospitalized following cutting at Lee High School . Northeast ISD says injured student is in the 10th grade . We're going out into San Antonio . A sophomore was hospitalized following a cutting Monday afternoon at Legacy of Educational Excellence High School .

According to Northeast ISD officials , san Antonio and Northeast ISD police responded to the incident around 3 30 pm in the 1400 block of Jackson Keller Road . A District spokesperson said the student wasn't a disagreement with a friend when he was cut on his side . The 10th grade student was taken to a hospital and was reported to be alert .

Officials are working to locate the friend . The student said he didn't know his name and couldn't describe him . District police did not believe there was a threat to the school . However , the school delayed its dismissal . Some people have made comments in connection with this story . Here's one from somebody making mention of this . Unfortunately , snitches get stitches .

I hope the school finds out who it was . I'm sure someone who knows someone knows who the kid is and says something . The sad part about it is that expression snitches get stitches has literally cost young persons their lives .

Now , speaking of someone who's lost their younger brother , to the tragedies of death and Unforeseen occurrences due to gun violence , I would say that it's foolish . It's foolish no , I'm not saying that in every scenario , a child needs to speak up and run to their parents oh , he did this , oh he did that . Oh he did this , oh , he did that .

But you need to use balance , guys . When it comes to the snitches get stitches expression , there's a measure of balance that's needed . Common sense too , if you will . You need to make sure that you're you're not holding back vital , life-saving information that could benefit your , your fellow student .

Now , if it's something stupid , like maybe someone says something about the teacher that they didn't like or agree with , or whatever , that's a good way to apply the snitches get stitches .

But when someone has been cut and they're in the hospital and they could possibly be fighting for their life , or someone has been stabbed with scissors or whatever the case is , and you know what happened and you don't say anything .

That might be something on your personal conscience that you'll have to live with for the rest of your life , speaking of someone speaking up

Multiple School Threats and Incidents

and saying something . This next story in Colorado echoes that sentiment very well . Teen pleads guilty after planning Colorado Springs school shootings . Elbert County , colorado , a 19 year old has pleaded guilty to second degree assault after threatening threatening to shoot up middle school Colorado Springs , Including her former middle school .

The 18th judicial district attorney's office said Monday Lily Whitworth , whose legal name is a William Whitworth , is facing up to 16 years in prison for planning the attacks . Now , excuse me , she planned to shoot up multiple Colorado Middle Springs school . Wow , so it's not just the middle school , but multiple schools .

On March 31st , investigators Whitworth sister reported a disturbance at their home and said that Whitworth had severe anger issues and Made comments the day before about a school shooting . According to an arrest affidavit , deputy's respondents in the home and found Whitworth in her bed . She told investigators she had a layout of the school and was starting a manifesto .

The affidavit says she stated she had been planning the attack for a month or two . Investigators also found a dry erase board which appeared to be a labeled floor plan of timberview middle school , where she had attended school , and two different notebooks . Here's what investors get .

Investigators found Drawing of what appears to be an office desk setup , additional floor plans , drawing of a clock to use a detonation device , several names listed , a list of firearms and how to 3d print them , detailed lists of numerous named individuals to be killed , information detailing the creation of improvised explosive devices .

It's not clear which two other schools Whitworth was targeting , but the district attorney's office said there were also schools in Academy District 20 . Whitworth was originally charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder , criminal mischief , mischief , mischief menacing , menacing and interference with staff , faculty or students .

Those charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement , according to court documents . Wow . Now here's the interesting thing about this story . After her arrest , a jail staff member said Whitworth claim that if she were able to bond out she would still try to carry out the attack . At that time her bond was increased from $75,000 to $750,000 .

Whitworth is scheduled to be sentenced on January the 19th . I I am at a loss for words in connection with this story . If her sister didn't speak up , they could have been dealing with another mass shooting . It seems that trends are not limited now to Internet , entertainment , social media . Rather , people are trending mass shootings .

To you guys there in Colorado , we wish you the best as you continue to Find comfort and knowing that one individual Was taking care of her , dealt with in connection with this heinous plan that they were determined to carry out . Very , very , very , very , very scary story . Here's our follow story substitute teacher arrested in Hingham Middle . Hingham Middle School .

Some of these , these towns is roll off the tongue . I mean it's . It's crazy . Just how one thing . It seems one thing this way . When you look at it and then we read it , it's like okay , that's what it's supposed to be . Hingham , massachusetts .

A substitute teacher was arrested at Hingham Middle School , raising concerns among parents about how a teacher with a troubled past could have been hired and if she underwent a required background check .

The substitute teacher , 55 year old Charlotte Cody of Situate , was called out of her classroom last Friday and met by police who arrested her and led her away in handcuffs . Cody was arrested on charges of trespassing and attempting to commit a crime .

Court documents say Cody has a history of mental illness , has lost custody of her two children and last year violated in order to stay away from her children's school in Situate . Last month Cody was charged with animal abuse and her home in Situate was condemned after .

Police say they found her living in Squalor with three beagles suffering from hunger , thirst and disease . The school district waited a week to tell parents about the arrest and only did so after some parents started asking questions . Some parents wonder how Hingham Middle School could have hired Cody and if she underwent a required background check .

The district declined to discuss anything further . I know personally that the parents are terrified as to what else the school district might be hiding from them , but the bottom line is people don't do their jobs today and I hope that nothing else transpired with this particular teacher and students .

Here's our next story Student in custody following stabbing at Makaha Elementary . This is Honolulu and we're in Hawaii . A student is currently in police custody after an apparent stabbing at Makaha Elementary school . Ems responded for an injury just before 2pm and treated an 11 year old boy for a stab wound to the upper body .

According to the agency , the boy was taken to the hospital in serious condition . A letter to parents , principal Kenneth Agakoli reported that the incident started as an argument between two students . The 11 year old was then apparently stabbed by a pair of scissors that was being used for an art activity .

The principal said the school is said to operate with no change in the schedule . Tuesday Counselors will be available to assist anyone who is feeling challenged by the incident . Unfortunately , hpd has opened a second degree attempted murder investigation .

So now this 11 year old is being charged with attempted murder , and the sad part about it is sometimes in these stories they are unforeseen occurrences , but it could be a case in which the parents know that their child is prone to anger and frustration and violence and they just don't do anything about it .

There are many children out there whose parents don't discipline them because they feel as though they have ADHD or he has a mental disability , so I can't do anything with them .

And then they throw them into the care of the administrators , expecting them to do something about it , and the sad reality of it is the children is not going to follow any instruction or direction from anyone other than their parent . This next story is quite shocking Student hit by SUV while on crosswalk near Anderson Elementary School .

This is New Hanover County , north Carolina , a student was hit by an SUV while crossing the street on a crosswalk on Monday morning , according to officials , and NC State Highway Patrol representative said that he was walking in the crosswalk with his bike at 7.34 am near the school . The child had some scrapes and bruises and his parents took him to the ER .

He is going to be on crutches for the rest of the week . The driver was charged with failure to reduce speed , and then you hear that over and over and over again . I know , even for me at times when I was driving or dealing with persons in connection with school bus activity they won't even stop for your stop sign .

And the sad part about it is , in New Jersey that's five points in your license , automatic , and if you get the right cop they can throw child endangerment charges on you because you don't know who's coming around that bus when you're trying to speed past that sign . And so that's the sad part about the circumstance that we have to deal with today .

People just don't care , they just don't care . We know that it's going to be a nice recovery for our young friend here who was hit , but being on crutches for a week is a damper . So we wish you all the best as you continue to deal with that circumstance .

In this next story , though , it seems that another child is going to be dealing with the circumstances that may hinder their leg capabilities . The morning police respond to a report of teen with gunshot wound to leg . This is Iowa . Police are investigating after a report that a juvenile was shot in Des Moines .

Des Moines police say they responded to a report of a 16 year old male with a gunshot wound to the leg and the 49th hundreds block of Valdez Drive near Westchester Park . The teen went to Hoover High School nearby to await medical attention . The victim is a current Hoover student .

According to Des Moines Public School , he was treated by a school nurse before being taken to a local hospital . He is expected to be okay . Hoover went into a lockdown for about 20 minutes . According to DMPS , it seems often now that gun violence is the number one thing that children have to be aware of .

Now , for some people , they may not see this as a big deal . They may say that there's no way that you can protect yourself . There's nothing that you can do . But there is something that you can do . There's always something that you can do , and it may just seem like something small , but always be aware of your surroundings . I cannot stress that enough .

When I'm driving in my car , a lot of teenagers are just zoned out listening to their headphones both AirPods are in and I'm just thinking to myself where's your sense of awareness , guys ? You've got to be more aware .

Even if you feel as though you're in what's called a safe area or a good environment , you need to make sure that you're taking steps to protect yourselves . No , I'm not saying that this situation was injured is a situation that could have been prevented . However , take each situation and learn from it , guys , make sure you're doing your part to protect yourself .

That will relieve some stress off your parents , especially parents who love and cherish their young ones so dearly . Here's our follow up story Las Vegas teen beaten to death by mob of attackers outside of high school . This is Las Vegas . Jonathan Lewis was a 17 year old student at Rancho High School .

A Las Vegas high school student died after he was severely beaten by a group of around 15 attackers . Jonathan Lewis , a 17 year old student of Rancho High School , died Tuesday , less than two weeks after an attack by the group of students outside the school . According to a KLAS report .

The teen's father , also named Jonathan Lewis , confirmed his son's death to the station . The grieving dad said his son kept to himself and lived in Las Vegas with his mother , though the teen planned to move to live with his father in Austin , texas .

The father also expressed disappointment in the fight that led to the death of his son , saying that the children don't even know what they're doing half the time . The father said he hopes the incident can be a part of a conversation around youth violence in the city .

Lewis added that he loves his children with all my heart and called it unimaginable that such violence could ever come to this point . I hope there's a way they can find forgiveness in their heart and find a way to be able to come to terms with what they've done .

He said the Las Vegas Metro Police Department's homicide unit is investigating the case , though no arrests have been made so far . The Las Vegas Metro Police Department did not immediately respond to any request for comment . I can't imagine what the father is going through . A mom of 15 attacks your son and beats him so violently that it takes his life .

People are senseless today . The sad reality of the world that we live in is that people do not care but things get better . Guys , you're not going to change the world . You're not going to be able to do that . That's not why I'm here , that's not why you tune in every week .

If you can find a little bit of hope , even if it's something that may seem small to others it can be a sport that you enjoy playing , it can be a hobby that you enjoy participating in If you can find that ray of hope , that thing that makes you want to get out of that bed in the morning , then you won half the battle . You've won half the battle .

One half of the battle is to find the hope . The other half of the battle is to not let it go , to keep trying . To the family of Jonathan Lewis , we wish you guys warm condolences from the Everyday Podcast . We are so sorry that your son had to deal with this violence and this wickedness and this world that's so prevalent today .

I know that you guys are going to be just fine as you continue to take proactive steps . In an earlier story that was mentioned on this podcast , persons found comfort in being able to express what they would miss about Kayla a Crispin . So maybe , just maybe , by speaking about positive things that you felt about Jonathan .

It can continue to give you that hope , that comfort , so that you can find the peace that's so hard to hold on to when we lose someone we love and death . Our follow up story 14 year old girl stabs another student with scissors at Bennett Middle School , fruitland , maryland .

Severe Bullying at Princeton Middle School

. Second degree . Reckless endangerment . Disturbed school operations . The Wicombe County Sheriff's Office says the investigation is ongoing and ask anyone with information to contact them . It's more and more violent from young people . But again I ask you where are the parents ? As if this girl isn't put away or whatever is going to happen to her .

She's going to grow up . She's going to grow up and be a potential member of society . What do you think she's going to do when she's a full grown adult ? She's going to start using other objects and scissors and possibly put someone else's life in danger .

I don't know what's going to happen to this student in connection with this incident , but to the student that was stabbed with the scissors we wish you the best in connection with this podcast . We love , love all of the viewers , everyone that's surrounding this story .

For those of you students who are at Bennett Middle School and heard about this incident , that might be a little on edge . We wish you guys the best as well and we look forward to hearing your expressions in connection with this story . Here's our final story for the night .

Some claims daughter is being severely bullied at Princeton Middle School , princeton Indiana . One Gibson County mom is speaking out for her daughter who , she says , is being severely bullied at Princeton Middle School . Star Peach is the mom of 13 year old Tony Peach . She says Tony has been harassed for a year now .

She has had a biscuit full of mashed potatoes , pickle juice and spit rubbed in her face , star said . She says some incidents have gotten even more physical . My daughter has been hit in the ribs hard enough I had to take her to the ER . She couldn't raise her arm . Star said the list doesn't end there .

Star says Tony has been stabbed with pencils and metal objects that have broke the skin and had food smashed down her back . Big things don't happen all the time , tony said , but people will say stuff or they bump me just because I walk past them on a daily basis . Star says she and Tony have reported it to the school but aren't being taken seriously .

I don't see where we're not doing some kind of punishment for that . Star said we reached out to the school who sent us a statement saying they can't share consequences for individual student actions because of privacy laws , but they take all reports of bullying very seriously . Every time I call the school they say it's just kids being kids or a towards play .

That's not okay with me , star said . She said she also went to Princeton Police who told her it was a school discipline issue . The school won't do nothing . Cops aren't allowed to do nothing . My hands are tied .

Star said we spoke to Princeton Police Chief Derek McGraw who said , generally speaking , when reports from incidents at school come to them , they talk with school officials to get information and start a separate investigation to determine if it's criminal . The principal tried to tell me that they tried to keep police out of educational stuff .

I said that's not education . If she's getting hit and stabbed , that's criminal . That's not educational . Star said North Gibson School or Corporation Superintendent , dr Eric Goggins says they're currently investigating and so are Princeton Police . It's gonna have to get a lot better before I will leave my kids in the situation they're in .

Star said she says she's grateful for one person at the school who , she says , has listened to her daughter the school resource officer . Although Star still plans on moving both Tony and Tony's brother to a new school out of the school district in January . This story is grade A , american , international , human being , the system folding right in on itself .

The mother is taking the proper channels . Now , of course , this is one side to the story . Some might argue that this girl might be doing things to people in order to warrant this kind of bullying on her . But let's just say for a moment , guys , she isn't doing that because children today can be more malicious than anything we've ever seen before .

Let's just say she is minding her business and people are harassing her . Mom's doing everything that she can . She's talked to administration , she's talked to the principal , she's talked to the police . What will she do next ? See , that's the scary part . Oftentimes and this is a quote from Batman that I loved we make our own villains .

What happens is you take and you pick on an innocent child and you harass them and you do things to them . They won't do anything . They won't do anything . They're a punk , they're a loser . And then what happens ?

When a Tony star decides that not Tony Stark , tony star decides to come back to a school with a gun , kablami , and kills her attackers , her harassers , her bullies . See , those are the things that kids will never stop and take the moment to think about . That's why this podcast is here For stories like this that need to be heard To the star family
