How do you truly help someone struggling with mental health challenges? As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, this episode explores powerful yet practical ways to support friends and loved ones during their darkest moments.

At the heart of effective support lies four essential principles that anyone can apply. First, be quick to listen - creating space where someone feels truly heard without judgment or quick fixes. When a friend repeatedly expresses the same concerns, our natural tendency might be impatience, but your compassionate attention communicates genuine care. Second, speak consolingly to counteract the distorted self-perceptions many experience during mental health struggles. Your words don't need to be perfect; your authentic presence matters more than eloquence.

The podcast emphasizes how a true friend shows love consistently, especially when relationships feel most challenging. Rather than assuming what helps, offer specific practical assistance like accompanying them on walks or helping with everyday tasks that might feel overwhelming. Perhaps most crucially, practice patience - allowing your friend to share at their own pace without pressure. Someone struggling with mental health issues may cancel plans or say hurtful things, but understanding this as part of their condition rather than a personal offense allows your friendship to remain a healing presence in their life.

These principles stand in stark contrast to concerning trends highlighted in the episode's news coverage, where support systems are failing young people in schools nationwide. From sexual harassment cases to safety concerns, the breakdown of supportive relationships creates vulnerability. By applying these four principles consistently, you become more than just a friend - you become a crucial lifeline during someone's most difficult moments. What relationship in your life might benefit from these principles today?

Introduction to RED Podcast Episode 126

Speaker 1

This is the Everyday Podcast for the Everyday People . Guys , welcome back to another unique episode of RED . It's that Everyday Podcast for the Everyday People . This is episode number 126 , and , just like every other episode , we have 10 stories that are going to knock your socks off .

We're going to focus on a school , a middle school , that has been reporting stories of sexual abuse but have gotten nowhere . We're also going to analyze the assault promoted by a 19 year old boy on a woman that fell asleep at a party .

Now this is Mental Health Awareness Month , and so we've been developing certain themes throughout the past couple of weeks in May to be able to help persons to deal with and change their perspective on mental health awareness . Our final theme in connection with the theme for this month how to help those with mental health challenges .

You know , one of my favorite proverbs reads this way a true friend shows love at all times and is a brother who was born for times of distress . You know , it's easy to be overwhelmed when a friend is suffering from mental distress . Wouldn't you guys agree with that ?

But how is it that you can show your friend love or be able to help them to cope should they be dealing with a mental health problem . Well , on this episode , we're going to be able to focus on a few principles . That's going to help us to be a better support for those who are dealing with mental health challenges .

Supporting Friends with Mental Health Challenges

The first principle is be quick to listen . You know , when persons are going through times of difficulty , distress and disarray , it is all too easy for us to tune them out , especially if they come to us on the basis of the same problem and the problem seems to be a bit repetitive Human emotions , human nature .

It can trigger us , but what is the benefit of being quick to listen ? One of the best ways that we can help our friend is to listen when he or she wants to talk .

Now , in this theme , we're going to refer to the him aspect , but this can apply to anybody a parent , guardian , cousin , uncle , brother , sister , daughter , whomever may be the person that you're dealing with , don't feel that you have to respond to everything that they say . Acknowledge what they say and try to remain compassionate .

You know , today we live in an environment where people often preach stories and suggestions of peace and kindness and endurance , but these very same people that are preaching these methods of dealing with one another are the very first to lose their cool in circumstances like this . So try your best to remain compassionate when dealing with your friend .

Keep an open mind and avoid being judgmental or jumping to conclusions . Really , the true benefit of them being able to communicate with you is them knowing that you care about them . Now , it's true that they may say things that they regret . I mean , who of us hasn't said something that we would later regret ?

But when you're dealing with someone who's going through anxieties , depressions and other circumstances to that degree , these principles can be a great deal of comfort . Here's the second principle Speak consolingly . At times , your friend may be anxious or they may struggle with feelings of worthlessness .

Because of the nature of their mental health crisis , it can be difficult for them to have the proper view of themselves . You know myself personally . I have plenty of friends who are dealing with mental health issues and I try my best to create a how do I say ? A couch-like element when they're expressing themselves .

And basically what that means is when they're talking to me , they can be so eased and at such comfortability that it's as if they're laying on a couch relaxing or preparing to go to sleep . You see , by reassuring your friend that you care , you can be comforting , encouraging , even if you don't know exactly what to say .

Oftentimes , when dealing with persons who have mental health issues , they're not looking for the perfect words .

They're looking for someone to show them genuine care and interest , and the sad thing about it is you would think that these are things that they could get at home or at school or in another stable environment , but the reality is , the places that used to be stable environments for people are now the threatening circumstances .

These are the places where they're getting the most hardship , the most anxiety , the most stress . So try your best to speak consolingly to your friend , not jumping to conclusions and adding to the traumas that they may be going

Four Principles of Mental Health Support

through . Here's that third principle A true friend shows love at all times . This past week , you know , my wife and I have been talking a great deal about the power of true friendship , and it could be that we were born in a different time , me being born in 92 , herself being born in 96 .

The standard of friendship has just reached an all-time low , it seems .

Today , people are more concerned about their own self-interest rather than the interest of other persons , and so I know it can be difficult for us to apply this third principle in helping someone because we don't know if that person is going to return that favor or if that person is worth helping .

Well , if you're going through circumstances like that , scroll through my podcast list . We have an episode specific in how to be a true friend and how to keep a true friend . But , for the sake of this thing , we're going to focus on being a true friend toward a person who's dealing with a mental health crisis .

One of the things that you want to do in particular is to offer practical help to your friend , instead of assuming that you know how to help to your friend , instead of assuming that you know how to help , ask what you can do .

If your friend has a hard time expressing what he or she needs , try suggesting something practical you could do together , such as going for a walk , or you could offer to help them with shopping , cleaning or some other task .

You see , as you try your best to take practical steps in assisting your friend , not only will they draw closer to you , but you can alleviate some of the stress , the pains and the anxieties that they're going through and be able to stabilize them during these dark times .

Now , I know that it takes a lot of effort to be a true friend , and today that is the last thing that is on person's minds . But if you do put in that effort , you will see the benefit little by little . Now the fourth and final principle in connection with supporting a friend who has mental health challenges is to be patient .

Now , as a school bus driver , I get it . Patience is not something on the mind of people today , and if you don't believe that statement and you want to test that theory , then get on your nearest interstate drive for about 15 miles and see how ignorant people are in connection with patience . They just don't want to do it .

People just don't want to be patient . But in this particular setting , if you really genuinely love and care for your friend , then you will strive to be able to show them that you see , your friend may not always be ready to talk to you about certain things . Sometimes you may focus on the fact that you've known this person for a few years .

Oh , I'm supposed to be your best friend and you're going through something , you're having these health problems and these challenges and you refuse to talk to me about it . Well , don't push them into talking to you Don't pressure your friend into expressing themselves .

The most important thing you can do is to reassure your friend that you will gladly listen when he or she does feel like talking . Now why is that important ? Well , oftentimes people , even in relationships , they will put pressure on another person to talk .

And , just like anything else in life , when you put pressure on something and you squeeze it with all your might , you're going to cause a reaction . So it's better for you to allow that person to willingly open up to you than applying pressure to them and causing the circumstance to become a bit more dramatic .

Circumstance to become a bit more dramatic , you know , because of the health problem that your friend may be enduring , they may say or do things that's going to hurt you from time to time .

I know , a couple of years ago at this point I would say 10 years ago my sister developed the bad habit of alcohol abuse , and she developed this habit because she was depressed with her circumstances in life , and along with that habit , she was diagnosed with diabetes as well , and so that combination of anxiety and lack of reassurance and support from her

circumstances made her feel as though she needed to turn to these substances and she would replay things in her childhood over and over again oh , this is how it was when I was a kid , that's how it was when I was a kid , and a lot of those things were not true .

But as a family we had to be patient with her to be able to try to see as to how we could get her the best help possible . So be patient with your friend . Don't take everything that they say that may hurt you to the heart . Don't be overly emotional . You see , your friend may do things like cancel plans with you and that may make you irritable .

But when you're patient and understanding and you offer your support towards their needs , you still can have a peaceful and beneficial friendship . So , guys , that's four principles that can be able to help you support your friends who are dealing with mental health challenges . The first is be quick to listen . The second is speak consolingly with your friend .

The third is remember that a true friend shows love at all times . And the fourth is to be patient with your friend . I can assure you that if you apply these principles in action , you can be a mighty force against the negative thoughts that your friends are experiencing Now , this episode in particular . There's a lot of stories on this week's episode

Long Island Man Threatens Elementary Students

, this week's show , that I just you know . I always say that I'm flabbergasted with the way that things go in society , but each week it seems like we just get progressively worse and worse in connection with what's going on in the world scene . Now our first story is well , it involves elementary students .

Long Island man yelled death threats at five-year-old elementary kids from his backyard . A 66-year-old Seaford Long Island man allegedly shouted death threats and profanities at a group of five and six-year-olds playing sports at an elementary school that boarded his backyard .

According to authorities and reports , Michael Maron allegedly stormed into his yard Thursday evening and screamed I will kill you , along with a string of obscenities , at the young children participating in after-school activities at Seaford Harbor Elementary School .

According to court documents obtained by Newsday , his house borders the elementary school where over 500 students are enrolled . Marin was arrested Friday and arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead on charges of endangering the welfare and making terroristic threats to children .

The jarring incident prompted immediate police presence at the school during dismissal and caused outdoor activities to be canceled . Several students had to be seen by a school psychologist for trauma . Officials told the outlet . Following his arraignment , marin denied all allegations telling News 12, . I would never do that . Do that .

Marin has had prior incidents and interactions with the school community , including a previous arrest for firing a BB gun near the school in 2014 , the outlet reported . Judge Renta Irwin ordered the alleged loudmouth to be released without bail under the condition he submit to of electronic monitoring and stay away from the school . He will return to court June 3rd .

This is a classic case of that movie what was that movie up ? Where the old man is like super bitter and they're trying to get him to sell his house so that they can rebuild on his land . He's just not having it . This person in this video , in this story , rather , I can't say that he has a valid reason for what he's doing .

But I do understand that when you get to a certain age in life , let's just say your patience is not where it should be .

We're hoping that the way the police handled this matter and what the judge said will be able to give the students some peace of mind , but at the same time , for those parents who have kids attending this school , we do express our support . It is tragic when neighbors make threats to elementary school students , years five and six ages . Five and six .

Now , in this following story we're covering the absence

Missing Student and Tragic Accidents

of a missing UC Santa Barbara student . Missing UC Santa Barbara student found dead in Big Bear Lake . A UC Santa Barbara student who was reported missing during a trip to Big Bear Lake over the weekend was found dead on Monday .

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department , tanner Prentice , 22 , was last seen early Saturday morning on Village Drive in Big Bear Lake after going out with some friends but didn't return to his rental cabin . Officials said friends but didn't return to his rental cabin .

Officials said Deputies in the sheriff's dive team searched the area and discovered Prentiss' body in the water near the Pine Knot Marina at 10.30 am Monday . According to a news release from the department , the coroner's office will determine his cause of death , but officials do not believe it was suspicious .

A LinkedIn profile matching Prentiss' name identified him as an economics and sociology student at UC Santa Barbara , set to graduate next year . A representative for UC Santa Barbara offered condolences to Prentiss' family and friends . Well , we do want to echo that sentiment , expressing our condolences to the Prentice family .

Losing a loved one unexpectedly like this definitely stirs up some bitter , harsh emotions . We encourage you to continue to surround yourself around persons who are going to show love for you and persons who are really going to be a support . That's really important .

A lot of people take that provision for granted , but the reality is when you're going through grief that's traumatic and quick you can never take for granted the help that may be provided . We wish you guys all of the best as you strive to make a recovery .

In this following story , we are again extending our condolences to this Falmouth teen whom met a very , very tragic end . 18-year-old Falmouth high school senior killed in crash after prom . An 18-year-old high school senior died in a crash late Saturday in Falmouth , massachusetts , the same night as the school's prom and less than three weeks before graduation .

Police released few details on the single-vehicle fatal crash on Ocupesket Road , saying only with a heavy heart that the driver who was killed was a senior at Falmouth High School , heart that the driver who was killed was a senior at Falmouth High School .

Counseling support was available Sunday at the high school library and it will be available again at the school on Monday to support all students and staff as they process this difficult event . According to police , they extended their thoughts and prayers to the victim's family .

Authorities have yet to release the student's name , but her family identified her to NBC10 Boston as Ava . Relatives shared memories of playing at the beach together and described her as a fun , loving and magnetic young woman With graduation set for June 7th .

A pall now hangs over the Falmouth High School community following the fatal crash that occurred around 11 o'clock Saturday night . Immediately after the high school's junior-senior prom in Falmouth , ava's friends gathered at the crash scene on Sunday to create a memorial scene .

On Sunday to create a memorial , a neighbor did speak off camera and told NBC10 that Ava's mother was driving behind her when the crash occurred . Amidst their grief , ava's cousins offered a plea to other young drivers . I just wanted to say for new drivers out there , even if you've been driving a year or two , just don't drive emotionally .

Tate and Rose said Coming to terms with a sudden loss has been incredibly difficult for the family . There was no immediate word on the cause of the crash this weekend . An investigation is ongoing . Well , we certainly want to extend our condolences to this dear family here .

You know it's really sad that when you have this awesome , encouraging moment coming up , memories that a family is going to obviously be a part of and then it's marred with the death of that family member . So now those two events are just connected the good event that was going to happen that day and then the tragic event of losing that relative .

I think that's the hardest part of dealing with grief , not necessarily the person that you've lost only , but when the death occurs and then how that's going to continue to play in your mind as the years continue to progress .

We extend our condolences , because this was indeed tragic , and we hope that persons around you are going to give you that love and support and all of the hugs and comfort that you need to be able to endure this particular loss .

This is another tragic story that we are diving into , this one really , really intense story , and we do want to warn some of our viewers viewers rather that this story could be a bit

School Shooting Incidents and Safety Concerns

of a trigger . Portland middle schooler dies after accidental shooting . The principal of Hosford Middle School in Portland announced Saturday that one of their sixth graders died Friday due to injuries from what appears to have been an accidental gunshot wound .

In a release to parents , principal Jill Liddle said the school has been in contact with the family of Elios Renteria and shared the information of his death , with their permission .

According to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office , deputies responded shortly before 8.45 am on Tuesday , may 13 , to reports of a juvenile who had shot themselves in the 5200th block of Southeast Glen Echo Avenue and un Incorporated . Clackamas County Deputies found a 12-year-old boy with a life-threatening gunshot wound in the backyard of a home .

The sheriff's office said in a press release . The boy was transported to a local trauma hospital where he died Saturday May 17 , from his injuries . According to the sheriff's office , the county medical examiner's office will be responsible for determining the cause and manner of death . The sheriff's office added .

Liedl said staff from the trauma intervention program will be on hand to support staff and students on Monday near the counseling offices . The student support team is also available . The sheriff's office said it is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the boy's death .

Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Sheriff's Office tip line at 503-723-4949 or by using the online email form . The school has also organized a fundraiser to support Elio's family during this time . The GoFundMe can be found in connection with this particular source . Again , extending condolences to the family whom lost their beloved relative .

You know when you're dealing with death and this is something that comes up . You know , I'll often think about different ways that death affects people and how a person's tried to process losing someone .

There's a variety of things that go through your mind and I think that when someone , whom is this young , 12 years old dies unexpectedly , it's just , it's a more of a shock , because you didn't anticipate this kind of loss , you weren't necessarily prepared for this kind of loss . And then there's so many other aspects that the family's dealing with .

There's the cost of burial , there's the cost of the funeral arrangements , and then there's this , that emotional turmoil that you're trying to cope with . It's just , it's just a heavy cloud of darkness .

So for those folks down there in Portland , we are encouraging you guys those of you who went to school with this student to take an opportunity with these resources . Don't isolate yourself . If you knew Elios and you were a good friend of his or you saw him in the hallway from time to time , don't shy away from your grief .

Losing a classmate like this is just surreal . It can be so surreal . So try your best to talk to that counselor , try your best to process the grief , of course , on your own terms . Don't push yourself too hard , but try not to fall by the wayside and deal with this by yourself , because that can lead to other difficult and distressing habits .

We wish you guys all the best as you strive to cope with this new circumstance . Just just very tragic circumstance down there indeed . Just very tragic circumstance down there indeed . In this following story we're still dealing with that same theme of just loss , and this particular episode has the most losses back to back that I've ever seen .

Student fatally shot at University of Wisconsin Platteville Residence Hall . A University of Wisconsin Platteville student was shot at a residence hall and another student was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a targeted and isolated incident . Authorities and school officials said the incident occurred Monday afternoon at Wilgus Hall , a residence hall on campus .

The UW-Platteville Police Department said Responding officers found both students suffering from gunshot wounds . One of the students , 22-year-old Kelsey Martin , was transported to an area hospital and then med-flighted to UW Hospital where she was pronounced dead . Police said Martin died from a gunshot wound based on preliminary autopsy findings .

Police said she was the Wilgus Hall assistant resident director . Police added the other individual , 22-year-old Haley Helms , was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound based on preliminary autopsy findings . Police said she lived at Wilgus Hall . Police have added . Authorities received a 911 call indicating a situation at Wilgus Hall just before 4 pm .

Joe Hallman , chief of police with UW-Platteville Police Department , said at a press conference on Monday and that was UW . The campus was alerted to shelter-in-place immediately . The shelter-in-place order was lifted after 5 pm . The investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing .

Police have not released any additional information on the shooting incident , including the firearm involved . Residents were not allowed to keep , or are not allowed to keep , weapons in their residence halls , according to Hallman , but they can keep them at the police department for activities like shooting club .

Final exams have been canceled for the remainder of the week . A tririage counseling is being offered through Friday and a toll-free emotional support line is available at 844-602-6680 . You know I didn't expect this particular story to go in that direction . I was shocked at the fact that there's not really a cause for what happened .

The sources here just confirmed that there were no other subjects that are or were suspected to have been involved in the incident . This is coming from the UW Platteville Police Department by statement that they made as of Tuesday .

But man , it's just a lot of young people losing their lives to these , these vicious crimes , and I just , you know , I just can't fathom what goes through person's minds when they hear this particular story . I mean , I know , when I post these , these snippets on TikTok , and I post these shorts , people are like , wow , you know , is he okay ?

Like sometimes he fumbles that word or he . But the stories are so intense emotionally that it just I just it takes me a while , you know , to really sit back and digest some of the stories that we're covering Now .

In this next story , parents , I am urging you guys to be cautious , to be smart and discerning , because there are many people grown adults entering school facilities and impersonating students . Venezuelan man arrested after posing as a teen to enroll in Ohio high school .

A 24-year-old illegal immigrant from Venezuela was arrested in Perrysburg , ohio , after he allegedly enrolled in high school

Sexual Harassment in Schools

using fraudulent documents . Court records show that 24-year-old Anthony Emmanuel Labrador Sierra has been charged with forgery and he is being held on $50,000 bond . The Perrysburg Police Department said it was contacted by the Perrysburg local schools on Monday about possible fraudulent activity involving one of its students .

After a preliminary investigation , a fraud case was established and handed over to the department's detective for further investigation . Detectives worked with US Customs and Border Protection and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement , and it was discovered that Labrador was a 24-year-old from Venezuela .

Investigators also learned Labrador Sierra used fraudulent documents to enroll in Perrysburg schools and was posing as a 16-year-old student , posing as a 16-year-old student .

Perrysburg school officials said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital that Labrador Sierra has been enrolled at Perrysburg High School under the name and age of a 16-year-old unaccompanied minor on January 11 , 2024 , in accordance with federal and state requirements for enrolling students experiencing homelessness or without a legal guardian .

Between January 11 , 2024 and May 14 , 2025, . The school said Labrador Sierra obtained documentation and support further complicating the situation . For instance , he obtained a state-issued driver's license , social security number and temporary protective status from US immigration .

The school also said Labrador completed an application for a visa with help from Advocating Opportunities , which provides free legal assistance . The Wood County Juvenile Court granted guardianship of Labrador Sierra to a Perrysburg family .

School officials said the guardians contacted the school on May 14 to report they had received information indicating Labrador Sierra was not a minor but instead a 24-year-old man . Labrador Sierra reportedly denied the allegation when district administrators met with him on May 15 .

Labrador Sierra was ultimately taken into custody during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 on Tuesday afternoon . Dhs told Fox News they have located Labrador Sierra's information under a different spelling of his name . They added that Labrador Sierra is a visa overstay who first came to the US in 2019 . Dhs also confirmed Labrador has received TPS .

Labrador is being held in the Wood County Jail on a $50,000 bond . He is scheduled to appear in court on May 29th . Now , if that doesn't shake your boots off , I don't know what will . You know , parents , these things are happening every day .

These are things that are happening right here in the school system , and it's easy to blame someone when these things go crazy . Oh , how did they not know that there was a 24-year-old man impersonating a 16-year-old boy in a high school ? Well , apparently it happens more than you think .

The sad reality of the circumstances is it takes one person not to do their job to put the entire system at risk . Well , it's nice to know that they caught this guy , but I'm willing to bet that there are so many more other individuals out there cooking up this same scheme in order to prey on persons' children .

My encouragement to you parents is to get active and to become aware of what's going on at your child's school . Do not leave it to chance . Meet the teachers , get acquainted with anybody that's going to be dealing with your children throughout the school day .

Do not be foolish , because now that you know that there is a 24-year-old man that was enrolled in your child's high school as a 16-year-old student , take a fool's advice . Right , guys , continue to be careful and safe out there , and we will continue to exploit these persons by using this platform as much as possible .

Now , in this next story , I think you guys will find this one to be interesting too , because there are things that teachers do that I just didn't agree with in school . Hey , you know I'm talking too much in class detention , or hey , I'm doing this , whatever . In this next story we're going to talk about a teacher who took discipline .

Actually , not even even a teacher , it's a coach taking discipline to a whole new level . School employee removed after students were burned with doing bear crawls on hot track . District says yes , it's Texas , always Texas . A staff member at a middle school in Texas has been removed after allegedly telling students to bear crawl on a hot track .

The Woodville Independent School District confirmed the incident happened during a pre-athletic class Monday at Woodville School . It's unclear what position the staff member held at the school . According to a statement from the district , the students participated in an exercise program promoted on social media that involves bear crawling on the track .

Due to the temperature of the track , several students suffered burns and blisters on their hands and knees . Khou reported One parent said her son and his classmates were given the choice of either doing a TikTok challenge , involving bear crawling on the track , or other workouts .

The students chose the bear crawl challenge , but the track was hot enough that it burned several students' hands and knees . It's unclear how far the students were told to bear crawl and it's also unclear if the staff member allowed them to stop once they were hurt . The district did not specify exactly how many students were injured .

The district added that the employee's actions do not reflect the values or the expectations of Woodville ISD . The employee has since been removed from campus and will not be returning to the district , the statement added .

According to KHOU , the person involved had previously resigned , not because of this incident , and the last day of the school year was going to be his last day as an employee . He was told , however , not to come back to campus for the remainder of the school year .

After the incident , woodville police are looking into the incident States Chief Mike McCulley , to KHOU . So this guy Coach puts in his two weeks and he's deciding to go out with a bang . I mean , guys , this is serious . I don't know if you guys have ever sat on the ground when it's like scorching hot weather , but that can be charged as a form of assault .

One of the things that I always think about is what is the motive ? What are you as a coach going to get out of bringing such harm on students ? I just don't understand the logic of these persons today .

But then people always tell me my friends will say well , rashawn , you're not going to understand the logic because nine times out of 10 , there is no logic . A lot of the stories I cover on this podcast are done by people who have literally just lost their mind .

People will say in the comments on YouTube and TikTok they're like well , don't the school do background checks ? And I say to myself okay , let's just talk about the American background check . A background check is literally a search into what a person has done right , what he has done right .

If you do a background check on a person who hasn't done anything , then you're not going to find anything . Okay , fine , hold that thought there for a minute After the person gets the job and they snap that thought there for a minute After the person gets the job and they snap .

Or there's a trigger or there's some form of trauma and they act on that craziness . That is how my podcast is born . I am literally the guy who exposes the craziness after the background check cleared . That is the purpose of this show .

So make no mistake about it , guys , that there are people out there seeking to do harm to your children and your relatives and your loved ones at school . And that's what we're going to do . We're going to talk about these stories and we're going to push these stories to persons who are just unaware as to what's happening in the school system .

This following story gives a great deal of homage to that theme . School District to Investigate Reports of Sexual Harassment Among Middle School Students . Students at Tumwater Middle School claim there is sexual harassment going on between students , and now the Tumwater School District is hiring an independent investigator to look into these allegations .

Last Friday , dozens of kids protested student-to-student sexual harassment that has allegedly taken place at their school . It's a huge problem , said one student . Kiro 7 talked with a mother about what she heard from her daughter , who is an eighth grader at the school that some students were assaulting other students in bathrooms and that there were complaints .

And nothing was happening , said the parent , who wished to remain anonymous . She said she had no idea about the harassment claims until her daughter told her she wanted to be part of the protest . The district says it's initiating an investigation and in a statement added we are following all required procedures and prioritizing student well-being .

Any necessary actions will be taken based on the findings of the investigation . Actions will be taken based on the findings of the investigation . The Tumwater Police Department told KIRO7 they have investigated previous complaints about the school , but the outside investigation is separate . If there are new criminal allegations , the department will look into those .

Here's what I'm going to say . It happens . It happens . As a school bus driver , I'm telling you 100% . It happens and I'm going to tell you why it happens . We live in a society today where parents are not aware of what their children are doing .

If you have a child who are drawn to things that are inappropriate online , or you have a young boy who is overly interested in whomever in a perverted way .

It's your responsibility as a parent to guide , direct and correct this course , but the reality of the circumstance is a lot of people today want to have children , but they don't want to raise the kids these kids that we're talking about in this story that are reporting these acts of sexual harassment . This is middle school we're talking about .

So if these kids are doing these things to each other in the bathroom in middle school , what do you think is going to happen when they graduate to high school ? You see , when we start thinking realistically and we focus on bigger issues , we can really protect someone from getting hurt .

It's really sad that students have to miss a full day of class to protest something that the school district is not handling and which they complained about thoroughly . It's just no winning with this world sometimes .

In some cases , they're overly paranoid when it comes to protecting persons , but then in another case , they are just chill and laid back when it comes to certain allegations and and things of that nature . It's just really sad , and so I'm hoping that these kids and this particular middle school get that support that they need , because this is serious .

This is nothing to play with , man . You're talking about someone's life , and if these kids are doing these things to one another and there is no justice on the matter , then what's stopping them from continuing the same pattern or this course of behavior ?

In our next story we are coming to my home state of New Jersey and let me tell you New Jersey is not off the hook , guys . I am not going to shy away from the shady things that happen in the state of New Jersey simply because I live in this state . You know what I mean .

In this story we're going to talk about something that's really captured the attention of parents . Let me know what you guys think in the comment box regarding this story . Nj Elementary School Guard accidentally fired a shot while kids were in class . Officials say fired a shot while kids were in class .

Officials say A New Jersey elementary school security guard accidentally discharged his weapon in the staff bathroom last week while students were in their classroom . Officials said it happened Friday at Midland Elementary School in Paramus . The school superintendent sent out a letter to parents calling the incident serious , extremely concerning and completely unacceptable .

Parents who did not want to go on camera told CBS News New York on Tuesday . Their kids did not hear the shot go off . School officials said the safety guard has been placed on leave pending the outcome of an investigation . The Board of Education will determine if additional disciplinary action is necessary .

School counselors are available to speak with anyone who needs it . Police quickly responded and secured the area . No one was hurt , but it raised the question of whether school security guards should be armed .

According to a school safety and security report published in 2023 by the New Jersey Association of School Administrators , less than 50% of school districts in the state have armed law enforcement in schools . Some 42% reported having armed security personnel and 20% have no security personnel at all .

What are your thoughts on security guards having firearms in elementary school ? Is it really necessary ? I mean , I know this was an accident and I'm not just saying this because I'm a New Jersey resident . This is my view of the matter . We live in times that are very difficult and dangerous .

If there weren't active school attacks , then I would say he probably doesn't need that weapon . But what do you do if , because this accident happened , you take away the security guard's weapon and a real threat to the building comes in ? How is he going to protect these students ?

As humans , we have to be careful that we don't allow mistakes to cause us to make bigger problems in the future . If the man's weapon went off , talk to him about it . Get the full story . I'm pretty sure the security guard wasn't in the bathroom playing with his weapon and then it went off .

Maybe he was using the bathroom and the weapon came off of his belt or came out of his pocket or whatever , and then it fired .

The reality of the circumstance is this Today , schools need to be armed as if they are military personnel , because if someone comes into this building and there's an attack at this school because now , due to this incident , security guards are unarmed , that's going to be far worse than this mistake that the security guard made .

We are hoping that you guys can settle this down in Paramus , not too far from where I live , by chance . You know these things are going to happen , but we have to keep a realistic and open mind and be reasonable as we move forward to protect our students . Well , we reached that final story of episode number 126 .

Guys , thank you so much for hanging in there with us . This is an awareness story . Now . This podcast is all school news , whether that be college , high school , elementary , middle school , you name it . This particular story was so gruesome , it was so dark and it happens in the teen environment more often than not .

I had to give this story its limelight on the show .

The victim told police that David just stood up and watched her while she gathered her clothes and walked to the other room to tell the other women at the party what happened . The victim called for a ride from the party and went directly to the hospital .

Police said At about 10.30 am police found Davis sitting in a vehicle outside of the residence side of the residence . Davis initially told police he did not remember anything but shortly after he admitted that he sexually assaulted her in a manner other than what was reported .

They entertain themselves with YouTube videos and a free imagery of things that are inappropriate immoral , as it were . When you feed your mind these things , there is a desire that grows within you , and what tends to happen is when that desire is given an opportunity to be carried out .

The damage and the trauma that he's caused not only the victim who was assaulted , but the people who are his friends at the party , the people at the party who knew him .
