¶ Bullying and Transgender Participation in Sports
Guys , welcome back to another episode of R-E-D . It's the Everyday Podcast for the Everyday People and , as you know , that red light is on and it's time for us to be able to reveal some of the most dastardly stories Now , right now . Currently , I am on a workout voyage .
Now , for some of you , that involves being able to exercise a great deal of self-control on what I eat and lose as much weight as I possibly can , because somehow or another , I ate one cookie too many and I really need to cut back and make sure I get back on my weight grind . But I definitely will say I picked up over the years , from now 19 .
I used to love to work out man , I had this nice routine insanity like Shanti is my guy . But I guess as time went on and progressed , it just became more and more of a challenge , and so now I'm trying to get back into the flow , working out and I think that's something that all of us should strive to do .
They say it's a great stress reliever , so I'm eager to find out and looking forward to you guys support . Now , as always , this is what you come for the weekly news , all things school going around the country , going around the world . In fact , I haven't done an international story school story in a while , but when they pop up , come to the desk .
If you guys request . I'm your dude , I'll definitely take care of it . This first story that we're going to go into is quite gruesome . The nature of the video will definitely outline that . Video involving high school football player thrusting into student causes frustration for Oakland County family . Oakland County , michigan .
The Farmington Public School District has recently fired the varsity basketball coach who has been charged with sexually assaulting two students , as well as three other coaches , for failing to speak up .
That news has dreaded up bad memories for the parent of one Farmington High School student who is going to the school board to detail what happened to her son two years ago when he was a junior varsity football player .
A video recorded then by a fellow student shows her son being dragged on the ground by a group of boys on the varsity football team , with one student picking him up and thrusting into him as he makes comments about wanting that booty . Her then 14 year old son was humiliated but didn't tell his mom when he got home the next day .
The video got put up on Snapchat and made its way around the school before a student reported it . The district immediately reported it to law enforcement , as it's mandated to , but the boys mother tells us that what happened next still has her angry . Two years later they call and they say well , he's okay and he's with Detective Brown .
And I'm just furious , said the mother . The mother headed to the high school where she said the administration tried to minimize what the video showed . She filed a police report and wanted to pursue assault charges . When she said administration tried to dissuade her . Notice just how gruesome this video is and of course , as always , we do encourage viewer discretion .
When I was in school there were certain things that we personally would do . We would fool around . If you were really close with persons , you would fool around in certain manners . This video highlights just how serious fooling around is taken today . One might argue what boys will be boys .
Personally , I'm not a fan of that expression because it just breeds nonsense . It just makes it seem as though boys are disposed to being foolish . But in this video , the boy that's in question the victim . He doesn't seem to be having a good time .
The unfortunate part about it is that , although the school did nothing about it , if this does fall into the right hands , individuals may take this to the full extent of the law and that's what I think young people are getting today Like you guys have got to realize that your actions they do have consequences and , depending on who you are or where you're from ,
those consequences can be quite devastating . In our follow up story , notice just what the friction is here in this particular school environment and what individuals are willing to do . Florida High School under scrutiny over trans participation on girls volleyball team .
A Florida High School is reportedly in the midst of some turmoil over rules regarding transgender participation in girls sports which broke state law .
The principal and a few staff members at Monarch High School and Kokonai Creek were reassigned pending the outcome of an investigation into improper student participation in sports , the Broward County Public Schools said in a statement on Monday . James Cecil was listed as the principal of the school .
The investigation stemmed from a biological male who either transitioned or is in the midst of transitioning , being allowed to play on the girls volleyball team . The principal of Monarch High School and several staff members have been reassigned to non school sites pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations of improper student participation in sports .
Broward County Public Schools chief communications and legislative affairs officer , john J Sullivan , said in a statement Although we cannot comment further , we will continue to follow state law and will take appropriate action based on the outcome of the investigation . We are committed to providing all our students with a safe and inclusive learning environment .
Now here's the kicker . Here , guys , and this is what the mandate made mention of . In Florida , girls are going to play girls sports and boys are going to play boy sports . The bill that we're doing today will ensure fairness for women athletes for years to come in the state of Florida .
It says that athletic teams or sports that are designated for females are open to females , and we're going to go based off biology , not based off ideology , when we're doing sports . The bill defines a student's biological sex based on the student's official birth certificate at the time of birth .
Well , as we move through this particular story because this story now segues into our next follow up story these are just going to run congruent , or just going to run straight through , as it were , to one another . It's really going to be interesting as to how the actions from the legislation affected the teachers and now how it's affecting the student body .
Students stage second walk out at Broads , monarch High School and Mid-Transgender Athlete Probe Coconut Creek , florida Students at a Broads County High School stage .
The second walk out Wednesday as fallout continues on the campus over the district's decision to reassign its principal and several staff members amid an investigation into a transgender athlete being allowed to play on the girls volleyball team .
Students at Monarch High School and Coconut Creek walked out in support of the student athlete and staffers , as they did Tuesday . The news of the staff reassignments broke on Monday .
In 2021 , the Florida State Legislature passed the Fairness in Women's Sports Act , which specifies athletic teams or sports designated for females , women or girls may not be open to students of the male sex . Governor Ron DeSantis later signed the bill into law . Parents of transgender children are reacting to the development at Monarch with dismay .
That includes Jeanette Jennings , the mother of Jazz Jennings , whose transition was documented on a television show . As a parent , all you want is for your child to be happy , jennings said . I cried many times for my kid when she was told you can't play . She added .
I feel for the mom because she is being imposed upon now by a state law and that state law has no right to tell kids that they can't be good . The interesting thing about this particular story is that it's going to really escalate to a moment of hostility because everyone is not going to be able to get on the same page .
I'm not sure how this is going to affect sports down in that school district , but we hope that they are able to resolve it in a peaceful manner and that it doesn't interfere with the student's studies and it doesn't cause unnecessary stress , depression , anxiety and rage .
It's very sad when these things come to the desk and when you have to be able to express these things here on the podcast , but that's what we're here for , guys . We're here to get any and all of the news that we possibly can express to you guys In this next story . I find the method that they carried out in action to be quite wild .
Metro Atlanta Elementary School student body slammed in cafeteria . Family , says A Metro Atlanta woman said a student body slammed her nephew at a Rockdale County Elementary School and the whole thing was caught on camera . Channel 2's Audrey Washington was at Shoal Creek Elementary School , where the boy suffered a serious eye injury during the attack on November 27th .
He was rushed to the hospital where he had to have a CT scan . Now Channel 2 Action News is not identifying the child because he is a minor . But Washington spoke to his aunt . She also acts not to be identified because she works at a local school . There's damage to his eyelid . It's severely swollen . She said he cannot see out of it . It's closed , shut .
Video captured the incident but the school district would not release the video footage to the public . He was being chased around the school , around the cafeteria , for a matter of minutes . The aunt said the kid got him and body , slammed him on the table .
The boy's aunt believes her nephew has suffered months of bullying and that some of the school administrators were aware and did nothing . School administrators sent Washington a statement which reads in part there is one student who is being disciplined in accordance with our student code of conduct . His aunt said discipline only goes so far .
The school district did not comment on the bullying allegations . The child is recovering but still can't open his eye . His mother plans to take him to an eye specialist and remove him from the school district . Again and again I'm hearing that these school districts are not doing their part in connection with young people .
It's as if they've given up , as it were . The sad thing about it is . Now is not the time to give up . Now is really the time to draw out to look after young persons , because there's so much at their disposal . How does the school district expect these kids to act ?
How does the school district expect you guys to come into your own if they're not taking the precautions or they're not doing their part to help you guys adjust to all of these different circumstances ? And that's one of the most difficult challenges that young people are facing in schools today . So what can you do if you're facing a circumstance like this ?
Try to avoid it as best you can and get someone involved right away . Don't be macho . Don't try to take on the system yourself , as it were . Don't try to outsmart or outwit the man , as it were , because eventually it comes right back to you . So I can really appreciate this odd stepping up , but now it's a matter of this kid .
Literally , he's still facing this consequence of someone bullying him , and nothing has been done about it . And so it's just interesting how , even in the school district , you have to be cautious and careful .
What you say to people who you say to , and then not even expect that it's always going to be taken care of in the proper and swift manner , wishing you guys all of the best in connection with this incident . Now again , we talk about often on this show we talk about you know again , red , the everyday podcast with the everyday people .
We talk about some of the sick and twisted things that come up on this show in particular . What I find to be particularly disheartening about this story is that once again , someone who has sworn to take care of these young people , keep them safe , keep them protected has fallen yet again into this category .
¶ Coach on Trial, Teacher Behaves Inappropriately, Violent Attack
Former Farmington Jr varsity basketball coach to stand trial for sex crimes Jeremy Tompkins , farmington , michigan . A judge ruled Monday , november 13 , that a former high school basketball coach will stand trial for the alleged sexual assault of minors . Jeremy Tompkins , 43 , is accused of grooming and sexually assaulting two teen boys who were on the team at his home .
He was in court Monday for his preliminary examination hearing . The two teens took the stand and described what they went through in detail . They said the former coach had them and other players stay at his home , sometimes up to five nights a week . At one point , they said , stretching and massaging turned into an unwanted sexual encounter .
A 16 year old boy spoke clearly until the court in graphic detail about an encounter that happened October 7 with his trusted basketball coach . The former coach , who he called Coach J , would have the boy stay over frequently for early morning workouts and Tompkins would reportedly want to talk business with young teens . He said he would help us become millionaires .
He said he was going to help us with our business . He added that business was rarely discussed but that Tompkins would discuss his marijuana use . On October 7 , the teen alleged Tompkins turned the lights off for a massage and fondled him under his underwear . The boy said he thought it was a mistake until the coach got back on top of him .
Another alleged victim , a 15 year old boy , said Tompkins grabbed his thigh . The judge is concerned that there may be more victims that have not yet come forward . The heinous thing about how this developed and I'll talk to people about it and I'll ask that question . And no , we're not blaming anybody .
We're just trying to figure out if parents are aware of where their kids are . We're not saying in this particular incident that the parents did not know , but for you young persons who were streaming into this podcast , one of the things that you guys struggle with is oh , my parents have rules .
They want to know where I'm at , they want to know this , they want to know that . And my mom had this rule . And the rule , in essence , was if you were going out , if I was going out with someone , she had to know their mom . She had to know their mom , their last name , a contact information . And I'm thinking to myself mom , what are you doing ?
Are you trying to make me look uncool ? And once I realized how dangerous and sick and corrupt people are in this world today that we call home , then I was able to come to appreciate what my mom was doing for me .
She was looking out for me and I'm glad that she did , because some of my classmates found themselves in situations because of not having anyone look out for them . I know that for a fact . The family of the victims here . It's devastating when you hear about someone like a faculty member , a teacher staff member , a coach .
It makes you angry , it makes you upset with the , with the person , it makes you give way to rage and you really want to enact physical violence on the person . Take the proper steps that you need in order to be able to cope with such challenge . It's not easy for you as parents to hear these things and try to help your child work through these issues .
There's a lot of trauma involved in these circumstances of abuse . There's a lot of of just depression , anxiety and fear that your child may not want to be around certain other individuals because there's there's fear there and then you have to worry about if your child is going to , because at this point they've been taking advantage of .
So there's going to be a moment in which they don't feel 100 themselves and that's something to be on the lookout for . Again , a devastating story to have to report on . We wish you guys all the best . We love you and we know that you guys are going to be strong as you grow in the upcoming days .
Again , we're talking about another case in which teachers have gone wild . This story here was just one of just epic proportion and when I'm looking I'm literally speechless at the side of this story . I'm just going to just share it with you guys . Regetti High School's substitute teacher removed from campus after alleged inappropriate behavior .
An investigation is underway after a school resource officer with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office was called into a class at Regetti High School on Friday to remove a substitute teacher from campus , regetti's senior Isaiah Chloria and junior Isaac Isaac Santana say they were disturbed when they heard the news . My teacher was talking about it in class today .
He said it was one of the weirdest things he has seen at the school . I saw the photo going around of the substitute . He had his pants down and everything . He is just holding a Pringles can in the open . It was weird , korea added . The image started making its rounds on social media on Friday .
The unnamed substitute appears to be sitting behind a desk holding a Pringles can in front of his crotch with his pants pulled down around his knees . You can't really see what he is doing , but there is no need to have his pants down and hold a Pringles can right there , said Korea , who saw the image on social media .
Now it's made mention that this substitute was removed from campus and is no longer longer part of the district substitutes teacher's pool . It sounds like a good response to it because it seems weird to be doing that around children . I feel like that is what was deserved , korea mentioned .
Santana adds that he is pleased to see the district taking action , but that he is still in disbelief that this happened at his school Officials with the sheriff's office say their school resource officer is still investigating the incident and will release more information once it's available .
So now you've corrupted literally the way people look at Pringles ever again for the rest of their lives . You don't know what these teachers are thinking . You don't know what kind of mental disposition they have , what kind of day they're having at home .
And when this story came to my desk , I'm looking at this and I'm flipping through the article and I'm saying to myself there's no way in the world that he did this . This must be a joke . There's no way in the world that this teacher is sitting at the desk with his pants down , with a Pringles can in front of his crotch .
These are things that you just can't make up . For those students who were in the class or may have seen the image firsthand , I again I'm terribly sorry . Like this is just not . There is nothing okay about young people having to go through these things or experience these things from the very people who are supposed to be that encouragement for them .
A teacher is supposed to be a role model for you guys , and we're not seeing that . We're not seeing that . It's evident that there's definitely a need for individuals in connection to grow as substitute teachers .
I mean it's I'm just out of loss for words to be honest with you guys , because these are just things that are unheard of , like there's no shame anymore , there's no respect , there's no dignity . It's just I'm feeling like doing this today and I'm just going to go right on ahead and deal with it .
It's sad , it's literally sad that you guys have to go through this , but again , I know that as a result of going through this , it's a learning experience for you guys and you'll really be able to see , hopefully , the district acting on behalf and the support that you'll get from your parents , both physically and emotionally .
We're transitioning now into a very , very sad story . This story does exactly a heavy toll , I guess you could say , for lack of better words . The video is indeed gruesome , and so just be mindful of that . Nine face charges and violent attack on Lawrence High School students .
Nine underage suspects have been identified in a vicious attack on two Lawrence High School students on Monday that sent both victims to the hospital . The Lawrence Police Department said the group descended upon the victims at Sullivan Park near Lawrence High School and beat them violently . A family member of one victim said they were also robbed .
Cell phone video shows the attack , which left one victim unconscious on the ground . Just a gruesome , gruesome video , and it's just a very , very rough video . Let's have a look . Investigators said on Wednesday that they have identified nine young people involved .
Six of them have been arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to murder . Two have active warrants , with one charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to murder and a second charged with unarmed robbery . Another will be summoned to court for assault and battery .
One of them were publicly identified due to their age . Police are actively seeking the two suspects with warrants . Police do not believe that this was random , but did not say what the motive was or if there is a relationship between the victims and their attackers . This investigation continues to go on .
When I did my latest research , there was no updates in connection with this story , but , man , this beating was gruesome . The violent rage that young people have today is out of this world . I've talked about it with you guys a lot and I've been able to express that with you guys a lot .
It's very unfortunate when young people , who are just the issues that they have that need to be corrected are just so simple .
If the parents would try a little bit harder , if someone would reach out a hand and say , hey , I got you , bro , I'm with you , I love you , I care about you , then it might help these young people come back to their senses to a certain degree .
But if no one is going to give them the time of day and are left to their own devices , what example are we setting for these young people ? You guys know by now where this podcast is dedicated for my younger brother , but at the same time , I truly believe that those who come in contact with this podcast can benefit from it .
But you guys got to follow the instructions . You guys have to try a little harder to do what you know is right , and when you do , it does make things better . But how will you know if you never try this video , this incident ? I'm sure when they get to the bottom of it and they give us the motive , it's really going to be something silly .
It's going to be something small that could have been talked out between two individuals without rage , violence and the devastating way that this turned out . Now , again in this video , this next story . Here rather , we're talking about another group of students attacking individuals and I'm not going to again . It's just another heavy story Like .
It's not so much what happened , it's really what the aftermath was . Three Patriot High School students arrested after attack on 14 year old caught on video . Police have charged three Patriot High School students with assault by mob in a violent Wednesday attack on a 14 year old boy at the school in Noxville .
At 741 AM , the school resource officer was notified of a fight in a common area at the school at 10504 Kettle Run Road just before the school day started . The incident began as a physical altercation between the victim and a 17 year old fellow student , said Prince William County police master officer Renee Carr Reported .
Videos of the assault sent to Inside Nova and posted on social media show students lining a hallway shouting and filming a fight between two teams . At one point two other students interjected in the altercation and repeatedly struck and kicked the victim , knocking him to the ground where he temporarily lost consciousness , carr said .
Another video sent to Inside Nova shows three students punching and kicking the victim until fellow students intervene . The end of the video shows the victim on the floor unconscious . The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries .
Carr said Police charged two students , a 15 year old boy and a 17 year old boy , both of Manassas , with malicious wounding and assault by mob . Carr said Police also obtained warrants charging a 17 year old boy from Manassas with assault in a battery and assault by mob , carr said In a letter to the school community .
Patriot principal Michael Bishop said the school is aware of the video circulating and will not tolerate this type of violence . So I'm looking at the photos here . Obviously , you guys know that I'm going to get flagged central if I try to post the video I looked forward . It's not available .
But again , I can't risk messing around with TikTok because the last video I posted in connection with the 11 year old shooting someone over the bag of chips got over 10.7K likes and over 130,000 views and TikTok decided to take you down . I'm very annoyed about it , reposted the video . It's still up with a view count of 800 .
So clearly it never violated the guidelines . But that's another story . So , yeah , sometimes I'm not going to be able to give you guys those videos . When I can , videos will be available for you to watch . But in the meantime notice the image here .
The boy is literally knocked unconscious , like he's literally knocked out , and I can't say I'm shocked , because this seems to be the norm . This seems to be the way young people are handling their business today and hindsight is literally . It's disrespectful and it's not right .
There is a lot of violence going on with young people today and they have to do better in connection with this . But it really starts with the parents , I kid you not . It really starts with the parents , and if the parents are not going to care or the parents are not going to be involved , then not much is going to happen .
Now for the next three stories . This is going to be a trilogy here . It's three stories that occurred in New York , right , and it's all dealing with students going wild . 12 year old girl slashed with a knife at James Kieran's school in the Bronx . Police say a 12 year old girl was slashed in the leg at the James Kieran's school in the Bronx .
According to the NYPD , the attack took place at around 9.30 am . The girl was taken to the hospital , where she is in stable condition .
¶ Violent Incidents in New York Schools
Students tell News 12 that a fight broke out between the two students involved that ultimately led to the incident . The Department of Education said that the school remained on lockdown as students were scanned and stated that the school doesn't have metal detectors . The teacher was trying to make them stop fighting and then he told us to run and get help .
So we all went out and then a lot of teachers came in , said 6th grader , alison Sanchez . I saw the fight happen but I didn't see anyone get stabbed . I saw a knife fall down . Investigators arrested a 14 year old girl and recovered a knife .
Well , we hope that they're able to sort this out in connection with the stabbing and I'm glad that the victim who was stabbed is going to make a well and speedy recovery . Wish you guys all the best .
Here's a transitioning story in connection with another incident that happened in a New York school 15 year old suspect in Edward R Moreau High School stabbing taken into custody . This is Midwood , brooklyn .
Now A teen is in custody after a 15 year old boy was stabbed in the stomach inside a school in Brooklyn and taken to the hospital where he is expected to survive . It happened just before 9.30 am in Edward R Moreau High School in Midwood , which initially prompted a lockdown .
A letter sent to parents indicated that two students were involved in an altercation that led to the stabbing . It is being investigated as a gang related stabbing , as both teens involved have known gang associations . The president of the union representing school safety agents says that letter downplayed what happened .
A minor fight is an incident , not a stabbing , said Gregory Floyd , the president of Teamster's local 237 . The school has a gang problem and students were bringing in knives and guns every day . The victim was rushed to the hospital in stable condition and with non life threatening injuries . The 15 year old suspect fled the building .
He surrendered Monday evening and was taken into custody . According to police , he was arraigned in the youth part of criminal court in downtown Brooklyn Wednesday afternoon and was charged with attempted murder , criminal possession of weapon and assault .
So for me personally , I just that's where my mind goes , that that's where the logic comes in , that for me you you've committed this crime , whether you're in a gang or not . You you're locked up and now they're charging you with attempted murder . Who wins in that circumstance ?
You guys have got to be a lot more wiser in connection with what you're choosing to do , because they're not really having Mercy on young ones like they used to before . Like I know , there was this thing in In previous years where young people could do something and they were trying to get to the bottom of it . Oh , maybe he's from a trouble home .
Oh , maybe he's from a troubled environment . Well , they're not . They're not doing that anymore , and the sad thing about it is that it's really just where people are today , like when there's crimes committed .
People don't have any reasoning anymore , it's just go to the full extent of the law , and so for the parents involved in this , it must be a very , very heavy burden to bear knowing that your son is going to be charged with attempted murder . We're wishing you guys all the best . Here is the completion of the the trilogy we were discussing .
15 year old charged after teen slashed at Bronx High School marking third Incident in New York City in three days . Yes , this has all been a New York who these past a couple of stories . This is more .
A sunny at Bronx and 15 year old boy was arrested and charged after a teenager was slashed at a high school in the Bronx on Thursday , marking the third such incident in a New York City high school in three days . In the last case , two 15 year old boys were fighting inside NYC Charter High School for architecture , engineering and construction industries .
One pulled what appears to be a small razor blade or blade from a box cutter and slashed the other in the face . The injured ninth grader went to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition . The 15 year old suspect was arrested and charged with assault .
According to police , the incident is being described by the school as play fighting that escalated quickly and aggressively . It comes one day after a 12 year old was slashed in the right leg by a 14 year old inside JHS 1 , 2 , 3 , james M Kirian on Morrison Avenue in the Bronx on Wednesday morning .
That was the first story that we followed up with , and so now we have this story here when there is another individual involved in a violent act , and Tuesday we're going to mention that story .
There was a gang related stabbing at Edward R Murrow High School , which is the previous story that we got covered before this , and now the 15 year old suspect is being charged as an adult with attempted murder , criminal possession of weapon and assault , and so the interesting thing about this was what they did afterwards .
After the incident , high school students were scanned before leaving and School safety agents were covered 13 knives , a stun gun , a box cutter and several pepper sprays . The violent spree may have led to the Adams administration to partially reverse course on a budget cutting proposal To cancel the incoming class of school safety
¶ School Safety and Tragic Incidents
agents . I'm not sure why some of these schools in New York don't have metal detectors . I grew up in Elizabeth for the most part , and we had metal detectors , like there was nothing getting through . You have a bottle of water In your back to toss in it .
So I can't imagine a State as wide and as popular and as large as New York not having metal detectors in their schools . That's like taking care of children one-on-one . I just find that to be a bit humorous . But I mean again , little by little I'm sure these things are gonna work out , but it is tough , it's very tough .
And then you have those innocent students who may not feel safe in that environment because they're not doing anything . They're trying to go to school to learn .
But if you have classmates or stabbing people and and just doing it and there's no Way for other students to be protected , then parents gonna be upset and that's going to lead to a lot of protests and writing . Our next story is on the bit of a sad note . We want to extend our heartfelt condolences on behalf of the everyday podcast RED .
We are heartbroken by this loss of life One high school student killed , two hurt and Mint Hill crash . This is Mint Hill , north Carolina . A high school student has died and two others are seriously injured after a crash in Mint Hill .
The Charlotte Mecklenburg school district confirmed and happened Monday morning near the intersection of Blair Road and Allen Station Drive , about a mile away from Rocky River High School . Cms released the name of the student who was killed in the crash as 18 year old Jovani Escamilla Salonis . A spokesperson said he played for the high school soccer team .
So it's when you hear about stories like this . It does Bring a lot of emotion to you , especially if you've lost someone close to you in connection or in the same manner . The other two students were taken to an area hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries .
According to Mecklenburg EMS , officials have not provided further details about the crash , but the crash seemed to involve a tanker truck . Many parents said the stretch of road leading up to the school wasn't always safe . Very , very devastating news to hear . I Am . I just want to again extend my condolences to the family .
I know that you guys are probably having a rough time , but , as I always encourage viewers who tune in , who are know the victims or are affected , I try your best not to be consumed in the grief .
Long term I'll try your best to take practical steps , try your best to confide in someone , let someone know how you feel and let them know what you're going through so that you can be able to to assist persons .
I know from just the experience is not easy , because this is unexpected death , this is tragic death and I'm explained that , um , it's very unfortunate . Some of the comments from the students were very heartwarming and it's nice to be able to see some peers speak up at times like this .
One student goes on to say I was in shock , I was just sad a little bit . Even though I didn't know them , it's still sad . This was a student , aliyah Caitlyn . As a parent , it didn't sit well and this was probably her first experience with these kinds of things . So we're going to talk about it at home and say this is how life goes sometimes .
This is a parent , eddie Caitlyn , this is must be her dad , cms said . The two other students involved in the crash are 16 years old and 17 years old .
They remain in critical condition as of Monday afternoon and we are wishing and hoping that they have a well and speedy recovery because , again , when these things happen , it's tragic and it leaves us feeling empty and lost and confused . We're really hoping that these other two students pulled through , because it's not going to be easy .
It's going to be a bit of a journey , it's going to be a long road and so , again , we express our condolences and we express our heartfelt , just sorry and sorrows for the family of the individual who's passed away in death .
This next story reminds me of just how desperate people can be and why it's not always wise for us to and I'm not saying this person was doing this , but why it's not always wise or why we should be cautious in connection with what we do with our material items . It's very important that we remain cautious .
14 year old Robbed at gunpoint while walking into North East DC Middle School , washington DC . A DC mom is speaking out after her 14 year old son was robbed at gunpoint walking into his middle school last week .
That mother said she was shocked and concerned after learning that child was just walking to the door at Kelly Miller Middle School on 49th Street , northeast , when another teen came up to him and stole his iPhone and a $1,200 black moose knuckles coat .
I did some research on this coat Clearly expensive it must definitely be the competition for Canada goose , but it's a very expensive coat . She says her son's 11 year old brother and another 14 year old friend were with him when the incident happened around 8.30 am on Tuesday , november 28 .
The kids were walking up to the door of the middle school when suddenly a teenage suspect walked up to them , pulled out a gun and told the teenage victim take this coat off or I'll blow your head off . The suspect then hit the 14 year old on the right side of his jaw with the gun and forcefully removed the teen's coat with his phone in the pocket .
Police were able to track down the iPhone with . The teenage suspect ran toward the Lincoln Heights neighborhood with the expensive coat . The boy's mother told Fox 5 she's tired of the violence in the district . Fox treated her son at the school and he's going to be okay physically but his mom says mentally and emotionally he's feeling scared .
Fox 5 tried to reach out to DC public schools and they're waiting to hear back . If you have any information and connection with this robbery , call MPD at 202727-9099-202727-9099 or you can also text a tip to 5411 . I remember one time I had an encounter in my hometown where I grew up with my friend . He got robbed for his jacket .
He had just gotten the jacket for Christmas . It was a North Face steep tech and I'm thinking to myself like , dude , just give them the coat . Three guys surrounded us , pulled out some knives , and it was then when I realized like wow , the world that we live in today . And the sad thing is I was about the same age . I was about 15 , 16 .
This is a teenager here . I was in that range . I was a sophomore in high school , but it was devastating . It definitely ruins your pride , it definitely hits you emotionally and we are so sorry that you had to go through this , you and your family , and we wish you guys the best and we hope that you're able to get this rectified .
It's good that you didn't lose your life . Material things can be replaced , but when it comes to your life , that's just something I can't be replaced . On a bit of a good note , this is something I found to be extremely of interest . Lancaster County Elementary School hosts Fist Bump Friday .
Lancaster County Assasquahana Valley Elementary School is working to make sure every student feels welcome and included . So it started a new program . It's completely free and everyone can take part in it . For the students at Providence Elementary School in Lancaster County , almost every day starts the same . Fridays are different . Every Friday is Fist Bump Friday School .
Dr Zach , a bar master , came to the school about a year ago . He wanted to make sure everyone felt welcome . We want kids to feel that we want adults what we want adults to feel , that feeling of connectedness , and sometimes it only takes something as simple as a fist bumped to help a student know that they are connected and they belong .
Bar master said the concept caught on quickly . Fourth grader Emily Alexander explains Fist Bump Friday is when you share a fist bump with someone who's been kind to you . According to Peyton asked , even if you don't know them , you say hi , it's Fist Bump Friday today .
Bar masters , encouraged by the student response both at school and in the community , it's really neat to see kids seek you out and give you a fist bump . He said so why not do a handshake or a high five ? Bar master said Fist Bumps are something everyone can do and signify coming together . It's a simple act with a significant impact . Not that .
That was pretty cool , man . The fact that they're really trying with these kids and trying to help them to understand and value being connected to your fellow human or your fellow neighbor . That's pretty awesome , because some people they don't take that route when connection with dealing with the student body in addition .
