¶ Dealing With Anxiety in Young People
this is the everyday podcast for the everyday people , guys . Welcome back . We are back with another episode of red . It's the everyday podcast for the everyday people , guys . This week , like all other , like all other weeks , has been busy . It's been filled to the brim with exciting things , exciting topics , a lot of things that are on people's mind today .
We know that recently there was a huge change in connection with the political climate in the United States of America and , although many people have expressed concerns over these matters , I'm here to tell you guys that there is a great deal of comfort found in just taking your time and taking matters one simple day at a time . This episode .
I thought it would be fitting to let you guys know just how much I truly appreciate each and every one of you .
It is an honor to be here with you guys each and every single week , making sure that you guys get all of those stories covered from top to bottom , giving you guys the inside scoop , as it were , on what's really happening in the school environment . I really appreciate all of the feedback on YouTube and TikTok .
It's nice to be able to see new followers joining us as we traverse this RED train . I will tell you this , guys . I've been running this podcast for two years now and I've learned quite a few things Now .
At first , I thought I was going to make an algorithm video how to get X amount of subscribers or followers in a certain amount of time , or what to really expect when you are a content creator . Most of the times , people enter these professions or these forms of creativity with get rich or get popular quick schemes .
The reality of the matter is this , guys it will take time for you to establish your social media profile . My advice to you focus on having fun , build a community and be there for the highs and the lows . Let's just say , for example , you have only 50 subscribers or followers .
Will your page become any less valuable when you get 100 or more valuable when you get 100 ? Well , the answer is no . Your value is not contingent on how many people follow and subscribe to your page , but rather it's contingent on how many people you help , how many people you encourage and invigorate .
So , to all of my subscribers and followers hanging in there with this podcast , I want to say , with a resounding joyful heart thank you for taking this journey with us , because it is indeed a journey like no other In due or in light of all of the things that are occurring on the world scene , I thought this particular episode we would highlight how young people
can be able to deal with anxiety . Highlight how young people can be able to deal with anxiety . That is our theme for episode number 21 . How can I deal with anxiety ? Here's a personal question . What makes you anxious ? Do the following statements describe how you feel ? At times , I'm constantly thinking what if ? At times , I'm constantly thinking what if ?
What if we get in a car accident ? What if our plane goes down ? I'm anxious about things that a more rational person wouldn't worry so much about . Charles , I feel anxious all the time , as though I were a hamster on a wheel , running but never getting anywhere . I'm working myself to death but not really accomplishing anything .
Anna , when people tell me that I'm fortunate that I'm still in school , I say to myself they have no idea how stressful school is . Daniel , I'm like a pressure cooker . I'm always worried about the next thing that will happen or the next thing I need to do . Laura , here's a fact of life . Guys , we live in critical times hard to deal with .
The Bible tells us that these days that we are living in are critical , filled with pain , anger , sorrow and frustration . Filled with pain , anger , sorrow and frustration . Because of that , anxiety can affect young people just as much as it affects adults . Here's a powerful question to meditate on . Is anxiety always bad ? Well , the answer is no , guys .
In fact , anxiety can show that we have concern for persons , especially those whom we love . So it's not bad for people whom love individuals to feel a bit of anxiety in connection with pleasing folks . But let's face it , anxiety can also be a powerful motivator . For example , suppose you will be taking a test at school next week .
Anxiety might compel you to study this week , and that might help you to get a better grade . A degree of anxiety can also alert you to danger . You might feel anxious because you know that you're taking a wrong course of action and that you need to make changes for your conscience to be at rest , says a teenager named Serena . Here's a fact of life .
Anxiety can work for you , guys , as long as it moves you to the right kind of action . But what if , on the other hand , anxiety traps you in a maze of negative thinking ? Here's something to meditate on . Anxiety might make you feel as if you were trapped in a maze , but someone with a different perspective can help you to find your way out .
Imagine you are stuck in a maze and just several feet above that maze you can gaze above and see someone pointing the way out . But wouldn't you feel a great sense of relief ? So what are some examples of how anxiety can plague you in a negative way ?
My mind races when I think about the different ways a stressful situation could turn out , says 19-year-old Richard . I play the situation over and over in my mind , to the point that it makes me very anxious . It's a proven fact that a calm heart gives life to the body .
On the other hand , anxiety can bring on a number of unpleasant physical symptoms , including headaches , dizziness , upset stomach and heart palpitations . So what can you do if anxiety seems to be working against you rather than for you ? Question the reasonableness of your anxiety . Being concerned about your responsibilities is one thing , being overly anxious is another .
It reminds me of the saying anxiety is like a rocking chair it gives you something to do , but it doesn't get you anywhere . Catherine , one principle that really has helped many people to cope with their anxiety is in the form of a question . Who of you , by being anxious can add one cubit to his lifespan .
Yes , by anxiously worrying about things that may or may not happen , you weigh your life down and your circumstances in ways that you can comprehend . So take steps to analyze the reality of the circumstances . Do not allow yourself to become baptized , drenched or overwhelmed with unnecessary concerns . What does this mean ?
Unless anxiety leads you toward a solution , it will only add to your problem or become your problem . Here's our next point . Problem or become your problem here's our next point . Oftentimes in this show , I'll express this thought to persons , and it may seem a bit cliche , but it has helped thousands , millions of people to find comfort .
Take things one day at a time . Think it through . Will what you are anxious about matter tomorrow , in a month , in a year , In five years ? Anthony , another principle that has proven to be successful Never be anxious about the next day , for the next day will have its own anxieties . Each day has enough of its own troubles . Do you see the point there ?
The principle by you anxiously worrying about things that may not happen ever , you caused yourself unnecessary worry . Well , what does this mean ? It makes little sense to take on tomorrow's problems , some of which may never ever become a reality . Just to play that back for you , guys , and if you're listening to this podcast , pause it .
Replay these moments and meditate on how you can apply them . Learn to live with what you cannot change . The best you can do is prepare for situations to the extent possible , but accept the fact that some situations are out of your control .
Robert , here's another proverb the swift do not always win the race , nor do those with knowledge always have success , because time and unexpected events overtake them all . But what does this mean ? Sometimes you cannot change your circumstances , but you can change the way you view them .
There are several things that you can do to alleviate the circumstance , even when you can't change your circumstances . Here's another thought Put your situation in perspective . I find that I have to focus on the big picture and not stress over the details . I have to choose my battles and channel my energy into taking care of priorities .
Alexis , another powerful help for us make sure of the more important things . It is vital , guys , that while you are traveling this road of anxiety , you are looking for ways to make sure of the more important things . What does this mean ? People who put their anxieties in perspective are less likely to become overwhelmed by them .
You can also talk to someone , marilyn says . When I was in the sixth grade , I would come home from school very anxious , dreading the next day . My mother and father would just listen to me as I expressed myself . It was so good to have them there . I could trust them and speak freely to them . It helped me to face the next day .
Another proverb that has proved very , very true in person's case anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down , but a good word cheers it up . What does that mean ? A parent or a friend ? They might be able to give you practical suggestions on how to reduce your anxiety . Give you practical suggestions on how to reduce your anxiety .
Now here is a warning in connection with the tips that we just discussed . When anxiety is prolonged or excessive , it might be good for you to get a medical checkup . That's what Jenna did . After receiving treatment , I can handle things better and I have control over my anxiety , she said .
Oftentimes , young people have expressed to me that they refuse to get this medical treatment because they feel as though such assistance is going to hinder their personality . Well , the reality of this guys is that if you don't get the assistance that you need . It will hinder your personality in one of the worst of ways .
It will not allow you to become your full self without the assistance of a medical professional . Yes , anxiety is nothing to fear , guys . You can come off victorious if you follow the principles in our theme discussion in this particular episode and you look for ways to get the help that you might need .
True , we are living in very dangerous , dark and difficult times and , as we're going to discuss later in this show , things are really really speeding up for the worse . But but , with practical planning , with true , genuine friendships , you can come off victorious . Well , guys , as always on our show , we have 10 stories that will leave you gripped .
It's nice to note that some of these stories you guys have not heard . I really love being able to bring you these guys first , these stories first , and it's really just , it's remarkable as to what goes on in the school environment and how far some faculty members are willing to go in connection with certain circumstances .
Here's our first story Ocala High School coach accused of having sexual relations with a student . An assistant coach at Westport High School in Ocala is in custody , accused of having sexual relations with a student .
Ocala police arrested 43-year-old James Ford III on Friday after , they say , the victim told a school resource officer that the two had started a relationship in January 2024 . Detectives say the two started texting before they began meeting outside of school in August .
The student said they kissed in the school locker room and had a sexual encounter in Ford's vehicle in September . The student was 16 at the time of the encounter . The charges are as follows Unlawful sexual activity with certain minors . Offenses against students by authority figures . Travel to meet a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity .
Use of two-way communication device to facilitate felony . Ocala police say that anyone who may have experienced similar behavior should contact authorities . Recently it was brought to my attention that in certain countries around the world there is no late age limit in connection with how people interact with minor children .
This has led many people to wondering what that might mean in the future for other places . The reality of the matter is this these things should not occur in the school environment . This individual has sworn to take an oath to educate and to guide young minds .
It's very unsettling when these things continue to persist and not much seems to be done in connection with these circumstances To the victims involved in this particular story . We wish you the best . We hope that you get a well recovery and that you are able to surround yourself with support from your friends and family during this difficult time .
In our following story , parents are outraged at how one principal decided to handle a crisis at this particular middle school . Principal's bucket bathroom plan at Hollabird Middle School sparks outrage among parents at Halliburton Middle School . Sparks outrage among parents .
A water outage at Halliburton Middle School on Friday morning led to controversy after an alleged decision by the principal to use buckets for bathroom emergencies was leaked to the public . An internet email , reportedly from the principal , suggested that in the event of a severe bathroom issue for students , we'll have a bucket they can use inside the bathroom .
This message , along with photos , quickly spread on social media , sparking outrage among parents . Don Henricks , a concerned parent , expressed disbelief over the situation . Chrissy Jackson , another parent , was at work when she learned of the principal's alleged response . Her 10-year-old son told her about the situation after being picked up from school .
His teacher told him at 10 in the morning . They better go use the bathroom now before they put the buckets in there , jackson said . Baltimore County school officials responded to the incident , saying a community water main brink caused very low water pressure at the school .
A spokesperson said that the issue improved within an hour and claimed there was no impact on school operations or instruction . School officials noted that the restroom used during the outage was against the school's systems acceptable practices and confirmed they are investigating the matter .
¶ School Violence and Emotional Impact
Now this story , I felt in particular , was kind of wild . Why not just get a bus and just shuttle the kids down the street to a restaurant , like I'm pretty sure there were more probable ways , more effective ways to handle this particular circumstance . Ways , more effective ways to handle this particular circumstance .
If I'm a parent and I find out that my child is using a bucket in school for the restroom , yeah , I would be kind of upset too . Let me know what you guys think in the comment box about how this principal decided to handle matters there at Hollow Bird Middle School . This next story reminds me of something similar that happened when I was in high school .
Although I wasn't affected by the blast , some of my classmates said it was something that they will never forget . Students pepper sprayed during fight at a Riverview Middle School . There were some tense moments for several middle school students in Riverview Tuesday after a student used pepper spray during a fight , hillsborough County deputies said .
According to investigators , there was a planned fight between two groups of girls . During the fight , one of the girls used pepper spray on some of the others . There were no serious injuries , but paramedics , firefighters and deputies responded to the incident by the end of the school day . H-c-s-o said no arrests had been made , but charges may be forthcoming .
A Hillsborough County School District spokesperson said this to Fox 13, . Our schools have a variety of resources and support , including a team of trusted adults that students can go to if they are having issues with other students . We consistently remind students that there are other ways to resolve conflicts .
I thought that in this particular story it was noteworthy the school's statement or the spokesperson's statement representing the school . Children have free will . It doesn't matter how many resources you have available for a student .
One of the things I've recognized as a school bus driver is that kids all respond to healthy communication and someone showing genuine interest about them and their circumstances .
If we don't take the time to tell these kids that they're cared about , expressed that we care about them being in these facilities , these institutions , as it were , then the students are going to act out a certain way . Are we taking time as administrators , staff members etc .
To reassure these kids that they do belong in these kinds of school environments and that there is persons that are willing to help them ? Or do we look at them as an inconvenience , a form of a paycheck at the end of the day ? Well , it's just a wake-up call .
It's a nice reminder for staff when it comes to how they're dealing with students , both in the classrooms and even on their school buses . We wish you guys all the best . There in Riverview we often talk about how crazed children have become today . The reality of the matter is behind every child is a parent .
Reality of the matter is behind every child is a parent . In some cases , the parents can be totally , totally handling their business , but their child chooses the course of free will to defy their parental guidance .
In other cases , parents set an interesting example for their children Parents sends principal to hospital following slap at elementary school basketball game . Surveillance cameras were rolling at a Louisiana elementary school Monday when a parent was seen slapping the principal hard enough to knock her out of a chair .
It happened during a basketball game after school in Plaquemine . The Iberville Elementary School surveillance video was leaked to WAFB Chief Investigator Chris Nakamoto Thursday . It shows the principal trying to stop young children from walking onto the basketball court as a game was being played .
A review of the video by the WAFB I-Team shows that occurred at least twice . Plaquemine police said the next thing that unfolded led to criminal charges for two adults the principal sitting on the chair and three kids in tow and one of her friends . Plaquemine police chief Stephen Angolio said the principal said to keep the kids off the court .
It's disrupting the game . She took offense to that . You see her move in on the teacher and she punched her and knocked her out of the chair . The video then shows what appears to be a deputy who was at the school trying to break things up . The principal is then given a tissue , as she's seen wiping her face .
She had a busted lip , was knocked out of her chair and hit her head and Galeo said Plaquemine police arrested Alicia Parker and charged her with battery of a school teacher , resisting officers and disturbing the peace .
A woman who was with Parker , identified as Jamisia Godshaw , was also charged , although police said she did not hit the principal , with Parker and Godshaw both facing felony charges over the melee . Law enforcement in Iberville Parish said this behavior will not be tolerated , especially at a child's basketball game .
Parker is being held on a $100,000 bond in the Iberville Parish Jail . Godshaw is booked on new charges . Plus , police said she had some other pending bench warrants . The WAFBI team reached out to the Iberville Parish School System and the principal who was attacked . For a response , the superintendent released a statement in part .
That type of behavior is not going to be tolerated by the school system . The individuals also have been banned from Iberville Parish Schools . Individuals also have been banned from Iberville parish schools . The sad thing about this circumstance is that some things can be handled with mild communication , while others cannot be .
In any event , my concern is always for the children . When parents do these things and they end up on national news , what happens to the kids ? The kids are the ones who ultimately suffer . Parents , do yourself a favor .
When circumstances allow for you to be able to exercise some mercy and patience , do it , because your kids are always the ones who are going to be directly involved . We wish you guys all the best there in Louisiana and we hope that things are able to be resolved so these women can be able to be at least restored to their children if at all means possible .
This following story really highlights how emotionally difficult it can be for students today to even want to attend school anymore . Nashville high school shooter posted online writings and partially live-streamed attack . Social media post show .

The shooter , identified by Metro Nashville Police as 17-year-old Solomon Henderson , fired multiple rounds inside a cafeteria shortly after 11 am , killing Jocelyn Correa Escalante . Jocelyn's family described her as kind and loving . Henderson killed himself after the attack .

At this time there is no further information provided in connection with this story , but I did want to cover this story on the show . It's these moments , these silent moments , that are not often spoke about . This is local news .
So oftentimes on this podcast I'll cover stories like this because they're often pushed aside these families that are affected by the losses of their loved ones . It can be easy for them to conclude that no one cares because no one's talking about these tragedies .
But we're here to tell you guys these tragedies will continue to be talked about because we're going to support you guys as best we can .
