The Power of Industriousness

Speaker 1

Guys , welcome back to another episode of RED . It's the everyday podcast for the everyday people . Today's date is December 19th and we are here with you for episode number 16 .

I know that many people are preparing for the holidays , and one of the things that comes with the holidays , inevitably , is that good old holiday shopping and the beauty of using someone to deliver your packages for you . And I'm going to tell you , I'm going to tell you that I'm a little bit disgusted with the service from UPS .

I ordered some contacts not for Christmas or anything like that , obviously and they didn't bring me my contacts . They delivered them to the wrong address , and so now I'm trying to get my contacts from my neighbors . Hopefully they listen to this podcast and they'll say hey , bro Rashawn , we found your contacts and we are eager to bring them to you .

Found your contacts , then , we are eager to bring them to you . As always , our show starts off with a nice theme . Today's theme is industriousness . So we've been going through the 12 secrets that makes a family successful , and I will tell you , guys , that I'm going to be really sad to leave this theme behind .

We have one more quality that is going to be able to assist individuals in connection with the secrets to a successful and happy family and , interestingly enough , we have gotten through these 12 qualities . The last one will be Thursday , december 26th , right in time for the new year .

So after the new year starts , we're going to still be in our fourth season , but on episode 18 , we'll have a different theme and connection with how we're going to be moving forward . So I hope that you guys have got these 11 secrets to making a family successful .

If you go back 10 episodes ago , that's when I started the first secret to a happy family , and it's needed In the world that we live in today . You need these secrets to help your family survive and thrive , some of the negative challenges and circumstances that are thrown upon us each and every day . I think that's pretty .

I think that was pretty well said , yeah , so why ? Why be industrious ? What is the benefit of industriousness ? Well , this theme in mind today . This theme focuses on young people and the idea is to be able to help you to understand the value of what it means . Industrious people do not shy away from work .

Rather , they enjoy working hard to provide for their personal needs and to help others , even if they work in a way that is not glamorous . Now , why did I have to highlight that ? Sometimes today , people focus on the work that is glamorous , the work that is going to get you to the top of the ladder .

But in order to be industrious , you don't have to have a glamorous job . You just have to have a glamorous attitude , a glamorous disposition . Here's why it matters . Like it or not , life is full of responsibilities , Wouldn't you agree ? In a world where many dislike the idea of working hard , being industrious puts you at an advantage .

Here's something I write on notes in connection with that statement . I've learned that when you work hard , you get a sense of pride and inner satisfaction . That feeling of inner satisfaction has actually caused me to learn to like work . Having a strong work ethic will help you build a good reputation too . Rian , I thought that was a powerful statement .

Here's a principle that can help . There is a benefit in every kind of hard work , and it's true . Have you ever had a goal or a desire to do something and you wanted to do it really bad , but you weren't sure as to how it was going to pan out , how it was going to work for you as an individual ? But you took a risk . You leaped and it worked .

You took a leap of faith and you did what you had to do , and your efforts were met with success . Well , that's the beauty of hard work . Sometimes people want the easy way out .

They want things to be done for them , they want things to come to them quickly , but it's not realistic , and it's like I always tell my wife anything worth having is going to be a struggle . It's going to be a fight in order for you to keep it , maintain it and continue to cultivate it . So what can you do to remain industrious ?

What's going to help you , as a young person , to be industrious , well , one ? You can cultivate a positive view of work by following the steps that we're going to discuss . There's a few here . Here's the first one Take pride in learning to do things well , whether you are doing chores , finishing your assigned homework or engaging in secular work .

Immerse yourself in what you are doing . Once you can perform a task well , look for ways to improve , doing it faster or better . The more skillful you are , the more you will enjoy your work .

There is a lot , a lot , of value in becoming good at something when I go to the supermarkets or when I go to the Home Depot , or when I go to watch movies at the local AMC theater for my YouTube channel and I go to the grocery store to pick up some food , or I go to the Home Depot to pick up something for the house , I come upon a person and I

ask them a question hey , how can I do blah , blah , blah ? And when I get those responses like I don't know , or well , actually it's somewhere over there , they , they , they handled the job right , but it wasn't effective .

They didn't put any oomph into what they were doing , and one of the things about that is today people are more concerned about doing a job versus getting the job done , and there is a difference between the two .

Doing a job means showing up , clocking in and clocking out , being a presence at work , but getting the job done involves thoroughly meeting the needs of the individuals that are in need of help . See , it means taking an extra step .

I'm not saying dog yourself out , jump into a situation , take on more than you can carry , but what I am saying is that it involves being thorough in this line of work , and a lot of people don't have that thorough ability . They're not thorough in connection with carrying out their work .

So if you do learn to do things well , you're going to be one step ahead of others . See the bigger picture . Our next point In almost every case , when you care for your responsibilities well , you benefit others . For example , when you are industrious about your chores , you lighten the load for others in your family .

Have you ever thought about that how doing chores can help your mother , your brother , sister , cousin , uncle , father , etc . It also helps you to cultivate a sense of responsibility . Today , many young ones are under attack . They're not under attack only in a physical way , but they're also under attack in a mental way .

They lack the desire to lighten the load for others . They lack a desire to show care . Sometimes , when I'm driving the school bus , I see young people on the street and they're just zoned out , man , like they're zombies . It's like zombie land out there . Tell me you guys have recognized that you listeners , that young people are just mentally exhausted .

But here's the thing the brain is a muscle . If you don't work your muscle , then it'll be weak . Your brain needs to be worked . It needs to be filled with good influences , positive qualities , great accomplishments and things that you can see the value and pride in doing so . That's the bigger picture .

You're trying to get yourself to grow out of certain elements in connection with being industrious . You want to push yourself beyond limits that you didn't think they were possible before . Here's our next point Go the extra mile . Now . That expression scares people . It doesn't mean putting yourself or shooting yourself in the foot .

Instead of doing just the bare minimum , try to do more than you are required to do . In this way , you are in control of your life , doing more not because you are forced to , but because you choose to . I'll never forget my first job was working at Marshall's Jersey Gardens Mall , so Jersey Gardens .

Job was working at Marshall's Jersey Gardens Mall , so Jersey Gardens . And if you're someone who's listening to this podcast from New Jersey , you will totally understand that dynamic . It wasn't the outlet collections at that time , it was Jersey Garden Mall , like 14 years ago , putting my age out there , and it was Marshall's . I was making $7.25 an hour .

I was promised $7.50 by my manager but I never got that quarter . And I was in the shoe department and man , oh man , oh man , wow , shoes you wouldn't even fathom , like the stealing , the putting garbage in the boxes , the lack of respect toward these shoes because they are an affordable price is crazy .

But long story short , I worked the job , I endured the job . I didn't quit the job . I got something better in time . But I learned going the extra mile . It can do so much for you . I left in good standing and it was very hard for the staff to see me go .

So when you go that extra mile , you not only focus on helping others , but you're building a reputation that will be with you for a lifetime .

Finding Balance in Work and Rest

Our final point be balanced . Industrious people are not lazy , nor are they workaholics . There's a balance there . So aim for balance , finding enjoyment both in hard work and in periods of rest . Now , how can we say that ? How can we say that someone is industrious but they are not a workaholic ?

Just because someone is a workaholic does not mean that they are effectively carrying out the work . It just means they like to work . But there are people who work 60 , 70 , 80 , 90 hours a week , but the quality of their time on the job is wasted . Some people who have managerial positions are in the office sucking down donuts all day .

There are other people whom are managers , whom don't know their job very well or how to carry it out . And then there's that small percentage of managers who are there all the time , but they overcompensate the work that's needed to be done . They overlook the elements of the job . So what have we learned in this particular theme ? How to be industrious Well one .

It means to be able to take pride in learning to do things well . It involves seeing the bigger picture . It will help you to go the extra mile and it gives you a sense of balance knowing when to turn the work ethic on and when to turn it off . Knowing when to turn the work ethic on and when to turn it off .

If you keep doing that , you'll surely succeed in your goal to be a hard worker . Now , as always , guys , we have 10 stories that are programmed to keep you on the edge of your seat . These stories are gripping , these stories are powerful , and I'm taking it easy , man on TikTok . I'm really disgusted with them .

I posted some commentary about a story that I covered in connection with a teacher shoving a student to the ground , and they flagged the story , and then I appealed it and then they approved the story and , as it's growing to infinity and beyond , they sent another message saying that they flagged it and I went to support and I spoke with them and they tell me

that they're going to keep it under wraps because it's too mature to be able to express to individuals and that really annoyed me like that legit annoyed me , and so I don't know where where TikTok's gonna go . But I'm hoping that someone destroys the app soon and something better comes up , because it just becomes ridiculous . It really just becomes nonsense .

But anyways , I say all of that to say this Sometimes these stories come with videos and I implore you to Google the story to find the video that's in question , because if I post it and they flag me , it can be very , very difficult . Our first story for this particular episode Girl 14 , jumped and assaulted by group of students at Maryland High School .

A 14-year-old girl was jumped and beaten on her way to cheerleading practice last week at her Maryland high school . Her mother told News 4 . Juanita Caldwell says her daughter was assaulted by a group of students at Potomac High School in Oxon Hill . Some of the attack was captured on cell phones by students who watch .

My daughter had a knot on the left side of her head and face , caldwell said . On the right side her eyes and nose were like collectively swollen together , maybe just smushed in together . It was blood all over her face , blood all over her jacket . Potomac High School security responded and dispersed the students .

Prince George's County Public Schools officials said , but Caldwell said her daughter was jumped again near a utility room afterward sustaining injuries that required her to be taken to a hospital . Caldwell said it's been worse by hearing this week here's our first story worse by hearing this week Cut .

Here's our first story Girl 14 jumped and assaulted by group of students at Maryland High School . A 14-year-old girl was jumped and beaten on her way to cheerleading practice last week at her Maryland High School . Her mother told News 4 . Juanita Caldwell says her daughter was assaulted by a group of students at Potomac High School in Oxon Hill .

Some of the attack was captured on the cell phone by students who watched . Potomac High School security responded and dispersed the students . Prince George's County Public Schools officials said , but Caldwell said her daughter was jumped again near a utility room , afterward sustaining injuries that required her to take medical attention .

Caldwell said it's been made worse by hearing this week that the students involved remain at the school as of Monday . From a call with school officials , caldwell said that the students were expelled , but to her . More needs to be done . Pgcps officials confirmed a student was injured at Potomac High School last week .

They said they can release very little information due to juvenile privacy laws . Friends and family of the 14-year-old held a show of support for her at Potomac High School in Oxon Hill on Monday morning . Despite the fact that her daughter loves her classes and activities at Potomac , caldwell does not feel safe allowing her to return .

Caldwell said she has been contacted by the Prince George's County State Attorney's Office but does not know if the students involved will face any criminal charges .

The thing about this story and I find this to be particularly of interest , the first thing that I find is that Mom has stated this abuse has been following this student from elementary school to middle school and now here we are in high school , these same students knowing each other , growing up with each other . There's a lot of dynamic there .

The school did not alert mom right away . The footage in connection with this story is heavy and I think it's frustrating because there are times when a school does not do what they're supposed to do . Parents have to continue to be proactive . Now in this story , mom was as proactive as she could be .

The sad thing about it , though , is that sometimes you cannot prevent these tragedies from happening . So what do you do ? Well , you make your best efforts known . You try your best to be proactive in dealing with your child , and one thing that's helped a lot of parents is transporting their child to and fro .

If you pick your kid up after school , drop them off , you can kind of limit their contact with their peers . Now , of course , this took place in the school , so there was not much that mom could have done , but it could be a nice reminder for parents in connection with these similar situations . We wish the victim a well and speedy recovery .

This next story continues to show what will occur in the school system as long as certain measures are not taken . Hpd investigating assault case at wahawa middle School . A video is making the rounds on social media showing what appears to be a young girl getting attacked on a campus at Wahawa Middle School .

The video shows two students punching , kicking and pulling a 7th grade girl's hair in the school's bathroom . Oral Sledge says his 12-year-old daughter , oral Ann , who was undergoing treatment after suffering a concussion from a previous car crash , is now left damaged from the incident on Monday . The two just moved to Hawaii from Arizona two months ago .

According to Oral Ann , it all started after the two girls started calling her names and asked her to spar in the bathroom . She said the girls pushed her in the bathroom and started attacking her . They slammed me against the sink and pushed me and my chin hit the sink and I bit my tongue and I was bleeding .

Oral-anne's father addressed the incident with the school's administration . Alain's father addressed the incident with the school's administration . They say Well , no , that's not possible because we have people standing by that bathroom all the time , oral explained . So now I'm starting to think Is my daughter fabricating the story ?

He said the proof came after a parent sent him the video that had been posted to TikTok showing the assault . The school's principal responded with a letter . However , the Department of Education says it can't discuss specifics due to students' privacy . The Honolulu Police Department said the incident is under investigation and classified as third degree assault .

No arrests have been made at this time . According to the department of education's website , the investigation could lead to suspension . So yeah , first I would like to say as a as a someone who's not a parent , if I did have kids , I would be definitely upset because , first of all , tiktok is not supposed to be allowing these types of things .

Right , because you'll flag my content , but whatever . But when the school doesn't have answers for the parent , that's what makes it difficult . And now they're saying that they have someone stationed out the bathroom . I can't say that the school is lying here , but it doesn't seem likely .

And the reason for that is that the school is lying here but it doesn't seem likely . And the reason for that is because the school may not have the staff to police the bathroom . If you didn't keep your eye on this matter and if this slipped through the cracks , as it were , and you weren't able to be on top of it as a school , don't lie .

Don't tell parents you've taken proper precautions and measures if you haven't , because that makes it so much worse when it comes to credibility in the future . So , administrators , be honest . Let the parents know when you've made mistakes , even if the mistakes are indeed very costly . In our following story , we're highlighting those mistakes .

These things happen all of the time , but sometimes these things are not broadcasted to national news media , and that's where I come in at . This story here highlights that sometimes in the school environment , mistakes will happen ? How do you proceed ? Two students and a staff member were burned , one of them seriously , at a Dorchester school on Thursday afternoon .

Officials said A mobile lunch cart with hot water spilled onto the students and the staff member in the school cafeteria . According to a spokesperson for Boston Public Schools , at 12.30 pm officers responded to a report of a burn victim at the Henderson Lower K-1 school located at 1669 Dorchester Avenue .

According to police , at the scene officers found two juvenile burn victims , one with serious injuries and another with minor injuries . Authorities said the school nurse immediately treated those affected and emergency responders took the student to the hospital . The BPS spokesperson said Police said the investigation to the incident is ongoing .

We are grateful for the quick response and are now working to ensure that our students and families have the support they need . The BPS spokesperson said this is a perfect example of what happens when accidents happen . We are human beings .

Yes , today we live in a world in which people don't give a rat a chicken nugget , but the bottom line , there is things that are going to happen by accident . There are things that . So this story is a perfect example . It's a perfect example of what happens when we make mistakes . As humans .

We are going to make mistakes Nay , it's inevitable , right , but it's how we deal with the mistakes afterwards . I'll never forget . My mother always told me I'm not going to whoop you up because of the fact that you broke X Y Z or that you tore up X Y Z . I'm going to whoop you up because you lied about it .

Credibility is a powerful force in a world that is filled with lies , saturated with untruth and doused with dishonesty .

So if you have an opportunity to be honest about a mistake that won't cost you any harm , of course then it's good for us to be able to keep these things in mind , because when you're honest , it makes things a lot better for other individuals as well , including yourself . A lot better for other individuals as well , including yourself .

This story here highlights something that is very common in school systems today . Now , how they managed to do that in the school system , I don't know . I can't say I've never left a child behind on my school bus , but in some cases these things happen .

School Safety and Parent Proactivity

Four-year-old with autism left DC elementary school unsupervised . The mother of a four-year-old boy with autism went to pick him up from a Capitol Hill elementary school Monday afternoon , only to find out no one seemed to know where he was . She described what she estimates to be 10 to 15 frantic , excruciating minutes .

After she arrived at Shirley Chisholm Elementary School on G Street Southeast , a janitor came from around the corner with my child in his hand and said that he was in the parking lot of Shirley Chisholm no adult supervision . Cook said he's autistic and he was just outside by himself .

The boy hadn't been properly supervised and left his class then exited the building through a gymnasium door . Principal Jasmine Brand said in an email to families the school parking lot where her son was found is adjacent to a busy street and especially dangerous for her son to be wandering unsupervised .

Cook said he's autistic , he's nonverbal , he's prone to fire , he's prone to water and he's prone to running in the street where Carr's is where he was found , cook said School officials apologized . Cook said and told her by email that the matter had been the subject of a staff conference .

In the email Brand said the school is committed to providing a safe environment for students . The incident is under investigation and was reported under DC Public Schools Protocol , including notifying the DC Child and Family Services Agency . The email said While the student was unharmed and brought back to the main entrance of the building by a staff member .

We take student supervision very seriously . The email added Cook wants to see school security camera footage to see how her son got outside alone , but she said school officials told her the camera system was under repair at the time of Monday's incident .

The school offered her the option to have her son transferred to another school , but Cook said that the decision is very difficult because she really likes her son's teachers at Shirley . Chisholm Brand also told the family of the boy was offered support from the school-based wellness team . There's a lot of dynamic in this story .

So an autistic boy leaves a school , walks out , nobody knows anything . How do you think that's going to make a parent feel ? How do you think a parent is going to feel about the school system ? These stories just continue to make parents feel as though they cannot trust the school system , and I'm going to tell you that there's a balance with that right .

There are some steps that parents have to take in order to know if their school system is one that they can trust . All school systems are not like this . Don't take this as a one-size-fits-all kind of story , but use this as a warning to be more active in your child's school system and try to get to the bottom of things , try to get the facts .

I think that's so important when you're dealing with young people . Communication is that lifeline that's going to make these things preventable . Or make these things preventable or make these things easier to deal with when they happen . The school , a janitor picking this kid up that's craziness . And why is it always the janitor Like ?

Why is the janitor the only one who's not a part of the school staff ? Quote , quote , quote . Always knowing what's up . You know , that's definitely interesting to see and I'm glad that the janitor was able to recover the child because if he didn't , this story would be very one very , very difficult to report on the podcast .

Now , this story that we're going to go into next is in my home state of New Jersey . It's not too far from me , but all together far from me at the same time . Two teachers or a teacher rather and a teacher's aide are involved and some of the things that people do today like adults do with their mind , power and mentality .

I find that to be extremely , extremely concerning . Pompton Lakes Elementary School teacher taped 9-year-old student to desk . A school teacher and a classroom aide in Pompton Lakes are facing charges for allegedly abusing a 9-year-old student .

According to prosecutors , authorities said Todd Lewis , a teacher at Lenox Elementary School , placed masking tape around the boy's neck and secured him to his desk for around 40 to 50 minutes teaching aid . Sally ann scala is accused of failing to intervene while present in the classroom . School officials say both have been placed on leave .

Lewis could be sentenced to five to ten years in prison if convicted , according to Scala could receive up to 18 months . So let me get this straight .

You have a student in your class , they're doing whatever it is that's getting on your nerves for that particular day and your wisest suggestion , your wisest avenue of action is to tape the student to a desk for over an hour . That just doesn't hold up well with me . It doesn't make a lick of sense .

Like isn't there more effort and work being put into taping the student to the desk rather than just trying to instruct him and guide him in a disciplinary manner , trying to help the student to become a better individual ? Like when did teachers become so rogue in these matters ? Now , the kid in question here .

I know that this was a traumatic and traumatizing experience , being taped up , confined for any amount of time . It's just it's a very daunting experience . We wish that and hope that the student is going to make a healthy recovery and that this matter is dealt with in a swift and professional way . And to you parents out there , continue to be proactive .

I'm going to use that word a lot in this episode . Proactivity can get you to places that you couldn't get to on your own , and it will also help you to avoid tragedies like this that are coming up every week on this podcast . Another tragedy that we've talked about often , it appears , is school shootings .

It is something that has become so prevalent in America , and when I cover these stories and people catch these online , they reach out from other countries and they've asked questions to me like what's wrong with America ? And I'd say I don't know , I just live here . This next story is indeed very discomforting .

Wisconsin school shooter identified as 15-year-old female student . The juvenile shooter who opened fire at the Abundant Life Christian School in Madison , wisconsin , on Monday , killing a teacher and another student , was a 15-year-old female student . Madison Police Chief Sean Barnes said in a press conference on Monday , december 16 .

The suspect was identified as 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow , who went by the name Samantha Barnes said the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the hospital . Barnes told reporters the police chief are not aware of any previous interactions with the suspect .

He also said it was a second grade student who called 911 to report the shooting and asked the public not to hold a vigil at the school because it is still an active crime scene . Just before 11 am on December 16 , police in Madison , wisconsin , responded to an active shooter call reported at the school , barnes said during an earlier press conference .

Three people , including the shooter , died and six others were hospitalized with injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening . Barnes added the shooter was found dead inside the school after officers responded to the scene . The circumstances of the shooter's death weren't immediately clear , though Barnes noted that police did not fire their weapons .

Police , however , know the suspect's identity and have executed a search warrant on the person's residence . Barnes said the family is cooperating with the investigation . Family is cooperating with the

Parental Responsibility and School Safety

investigation . In some cases , in connection with these stories , persons may feel as though they can blame the parents . They may feel as though it's mom or dad's fault , but that's not always the case . That's not always the case .

I know many parents who work hard , tirelessly , trying their best to raise their children , to help them to become model citizens of society . But the reality of the circumstance is children have free will .

The influence of TV , the influence of music , the entertainment the influence of entertainment can be quite , quite powerful and if a kid is not focused on doing the right thing or if they don't have enough support to do the right thing , then they can get caught up in some dark , dark things , tragedies such as this .

To the families of the victims whom were killed in this very disturbing story , please accept our heartfelt condolences .

Please accept the love and the strength of the RED podcast , knowing that these things will get better , one step at a time , if we continue to be proactive and if we continue to surround ourselves with people whom are choosing to support us , with people whom are choosing to support us .

Our next story highlights just how far parents could go when they are pushed to the edge . It does come with a video , but if TikTok is not being reasonable then I will not be able to upload the video . Parent attacks student in shocking video at Fike High School . Parent attacks student in shocking video at Fike High School .

Parent attacks student in shocking video at Fike High School . A disturbing video appearing to show a parent attacking a student at Fike High School has gone viral , leaving the victim's family with many unanswered questions . The footage shows 43-year-old Quentin Lofton grabbing a 17-year-old student by the shirt and forcefully pushing him toward a staircase .

What follows next is even more shocking . The student was shoved to the ground , appearing to have a seizure , before slowly getting up and walked away . Wral's Julian Grace spoke with the teen's family , who are grappling with the unsettling footage . According to the family , they are asking how Lofton was able to enter the school and why no one intervened .

But before the attack the student's family gave an update on the boy's condition . He's pretty traumatized right now . He's very shaken up by the whole event that took place that morning , said the teen's sister , shaniqua . He's pushing through . He's trying his best to be positive throughout this whole situation .

As the family seeks answers , they are demanding accountability for how the suspect gained access to the school and why school officials didn't prevent the assault . Fike High School's principal . Fyke High School's principal confirmed the disturbing incident Monday morning in a phone recording to parents .

On the recorded message , principal Dr Ross Renfrow explained that the parent , after entering the building and being directed to the office , bypassed staff and confronted a student in a hallway . Renfrow said the attack was related to an issue that had occurred outside of school .

The school is now working with the Wilson County Sheriff's Office and charges have been filed against Lofton . I saw the video . I was just in shock as to the aggression led by this parent . As to the aggression led by this parent . However , guys , there is something important to note .

There is a lot of pressure on humans today and people are just ready to snap . The last week the last episode rather I covered a story about a teacher shoving a kid to the ground and I got all sorts of comments , most in favor of how people are just on edge today , and there were some comments that were unreasonable .

One of the comments mentioned oh , you should never touch a student and you should never do this , and that's fine . We know what we're never supposed to do . People know that , but we live in a world where people don't care anymore . We have to adjust our thinking to protect ourselves . That's what it means to be proactive .

It means adjusting our thinking , our way of living , to be safe and to find security during times in which people are just not mentally stable as they used to be .

Our next story will highlight that For the victim here , we do wish you a well recovery , continue to endure despite these circumstances and we hope that the family is able to get the support that they need in order to have this matter rectified .

Our following story is a bit shocking for me because I'm a school bus driver and I always think what would I do if this was was occurring on my school bus or had happened on my school bus . Security guard responds to screaming after shots fired into school bus in East Charlotte .

A suspect has been arrested and charged after gunfire struck a school bus , injuring a middle school student in East Charlotte Monday afternoon . Charlotte-mecklenburg police said the incident occurred around 4 pm Monday on December 16th on East WT Harris Boulevard near Idlewild Road North .

When officers arrived , they discovered an Infinity vehicle and Charlotte Mecklenburg School bus had each been shot into . There were 30 students from Albemarle Road Middle School on board when the shooting occurred . The injured students were treated on the scene with glass cuts .

Security Guard Angel Balbuena was working at the Albemarle Road Recreation Center when the bus arrived at the facility after the shooting occurred a few blocks away , balbuena helped to get the students off the bus safely . Police say the school bus was not the intended target and the students were caught in the crossfire of a fight that had nothing to do with them .

Following the shooting , officers observed a man later identified as Lamarius Rommel Anthony , 21, . Leaving the scene of the shooting . He was taken in for questioning and later placed under arrest . Was taken in for questioning and later placed under arrest .

According to the Mecklenburg County Jail , anthony is facing charges including felony possession of cocaine , possession of marijuana , carrying concealed weapon . Balbuena was making his usual rounds outside the recreation center when he heard screaming coming from two students on the bus .

He heard cries from two students On a school bus screaming that their bus had been shot into . He says that he thought of his own child In those seconds and knew that he had to take action . Cms officials said Another bus arrived To take the remaining students home . Practical , it's nice when I think this is a security guard . So we have some heroes .

This week , in connection with our lineup , we have a janitor who rescued the autistic kid and now we have a security guard taking note of a school bus in danger . I'm not sure what I would have done if that were my school bus . I mean , my priority is my students , to make sure they're safe and sound .

I think that was handled well , but man , oh man , the times that we live in , it's just crazy days that are upon us . And this guy , this man , mr Anthony , he's 21 years old , whole life ahead of him , and just caught up in just these negative circumstances surrounding the world today .

So again , we're glad that the students were able to be recovered safely and hopefully they make a speedy recovery because , well , break is coming up and so you want these students to be able to get past this trauma as much as they possibly can . So it seems that I missed a story and I really hate when that happens , but you know , what can you do .

Here's that story Florida man beat child for nearly 30 minutes over missing couch cushion . Deputies say A Florida couple is facing child abuse charges after local authorities say the man beat a child for nearly half an hour and his wife failed to help the boy .

The incident happened on December 7th in Kissimmee and was partially captured on the family surveillance cameras . According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office in Central Florida County Sheriff's Office in Central Florida , someone told the Department of Children and Families and law enforcement about the incident on December 11th . The Sheriff's Office said in a news release .

According to authorities , the man , lance Rachel , was angry about a couch cushion that had been moved in the family's home . Then he accused a boy in the home of lying about it . He cursed at the boy and physically abused him for 28 minutes , authorities said , adding that he beat the child over 50 times with a belt .

He was also choked and called several disparaging names and other obscenities . The sheriff's office wrote in the news release . The terrible thing surrounding this particular story is that someone's loved one , a parent , would do this to a child . Rachel told the boy that he would break his jaw .

The sheriff's department said said detectives made mention that Rachel has been charged with aggravated child abuse and battery by strangulation . According to online court records , his wife , 35 , kimberly Rachel , was arrested for failure to report known child abuse .

The sheriff's office said in the news release , the saddest thing about this story , as was highlighted , is that this is the kind of abuse that individuals are struggling to overcome . These are the type of abuses that leave emotional scars .

Now let's focus on that word , abuse , for a minute , because a lot of the times , people use the word abuse interchangeably , and the bottom line is this Parents can discipline their children , but abuse has a certain undertone . Abuse is to treat a person or animal with cruelty or violence , especially regularly or repeatedly .

Beating this kid for 28 minutes straight is insane . That is just disgusting by nature . However , parents do be mindful that forms of discipline vary from child to child , and we have to recognize that kids need discipline in order to be structured . Now it's up to the parent to decide what kind of forms of discipline they will enact on their children .

Such discipline could be a pat on the bottom , it could be a pinch of the arm , it could be a twist of the ear or twist of the lip . But the reality is , whatever the discipline is , it doesn't always have to be physical . It can be a strong , firm . Talking to it can be confiscating an electronic device .

Really , the reality is , abuse focuses on the type of punishment , the severity of it and the mentality regarding it . So , as parents , be diligent , discipline your children in love . Some parents refrain from disciplining their children when they're angry or frustrated with them over something that may have occurred in the past or has built up .

You see , if you take the steps to have balance and consult different methods of discipline . Then you can really be able to set a better standard in connection with how your child is dealt with . For the victim in this story , we do wish him a well recovery and it's very tragic when these things do happen in connection with these events .

Here's our final story . Teen charged in UK dance class stabbings pleads not guilty to murder . A teen charged with killing three girls and wounding 10 other people in a stabbing rampage at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in England this summer remained silent in court Wednesday as not guilty . Pleas were entered on his behalf .

Axel Ruda Cabana , 18 , who has refused to speak in each court appearance , refused to speak . In each court appearance was read the charges of three counts of murder , 10 counts of attempted murder and additional charges related to possessing the poison ricin and for having an Al-Qaeda manual .

Justice Julian Goose ordered a clerk to enter the pleas in Liverpool Crown Court as Rudica Bana stayed mum during a video appearance from a London prison where he is held . His trial is scheduled for January 20 . It was the first time in a court appearance that the teen did not pull his sweatshirt collar over his nose to obscure his face .

He appeared to smile as an officer confirmed that the court proceeding could be heard at the prison . The judge noted that Rudacabana was not responding . He swayed from side to side as the charges were read and bent forward .

At one point Rudacabana was charged in August with murdering three girls Silva 9 , elsie Dot 7 , and BB King , 6 , and stabbing 10 other people on July 29 in the seaside town of Southport in northern England .

The attack at a small dance and yoga studio on the first day of summer vacation sparked rioting across England and northern Ireland , fueled by far-right activists . That lasted a week .

The violence , which injured more than 300 police officers and led to fiery attacks on hotels housing migrants , began after Ruta Cabana , then unnamed , was falsely identified as an asylum seeker who had recently arrived in Britain by boat . Rudi Kibana was born in Wales to Rwandan immigrants .

More than 1,200 people were arrested for the disorder that lasted a week and hundreds have been jailed for up to nine years in prison . A report released Wednesday was critical of police for failing to recognize the threat of violent disorder after a number of smaller incidents across the UK in the previous two years .

Police have said the stabbings have not been classified as an act of terrorism , because the motive is not yet known . All that I have to say about this story is that three young girls under the age of 10 were killed . The tragedies surrounding this story are insanely insurmountable . They are just so hard to digest .

Please accept our condolences , the families of these young girls here and for those of you who have tuned into this story . Please hold on to hope , take comfort in knowing that things will get better .

Continue to rally around your support group , your emotional strength coming from such ones , and remember that if you make changes in your own life and strive yourself to be a better individual , you can help persons cope with these tragic stories
