¶ Mentality and Apple Store Looting
This is the Everyday Podcast for the Everyday People . Guys , welcome back , welcome back . It's another episode of RED . It's that Everyday Podcast for the Everyday People and that red light is on and well , guys , I'm just happy to be back here with you guys another week .
I think one thing that I really appreciate about this platform and about this show is being able to come to you guys and bring you the reality , to bring you those things that are going to just keep your mind spinning .
So , this particular episode today , I find that it might be beneficial for us to speak a bit about mentality , and you know , I like to go through my TikTok lives every once in a while . I'll scroll , nothing wrong with that .
And you have some good content creators out there , and then you have some content creators who are just on the kind of okay , interesting side , in which that's not personally for me , so I'm just going to scroll by . But there are things that occur , and one of the things that I'm starting to see is trend , and there's nothing wrong with trend , as it were .
Personally , I wouldn't do it , because I've always been the type of person to want to set trends rather than follow trends .
That's just my own personal response to the everyday trend , as it were , right , and so when I look at young people today and I think about their future and where they're going because , again , I'm a school bus driver so I'm naturally going to be concerned about the students who I come in contact with , their future , their education , guiding them in the right
direction , etc . And one of the things that I find is that people just don't care like they used to , and the interesting thing about not caring is that it not only affects your life , but it has the potential to do damage to the lives of others , and that's something that I personally have a problem with .
Throughout this show , we're going to discuss that , guys , but our first topic , our first story , I should say , is going to be quite the doozy . Very interesting , very , very interesting story Masked Philadelphia Looter Storm , apple Store and Mad Frenzy .
I'm not sure if you heard this story in particular , but please feel free to comment , let me know what you think and I'll be able to express my own personal experiences in connection with this story .
A shocking new video shows dozens of masked looters smashing their way into an apple store in Philadelphia and running away with iPhones and tablets as the city dealt with widespread crime . The past week , philadelphia Police Department released a new surveillance camera footage showing brazen thugs rioting through the apple store on Walnut Street in the center of the city .
Thieves forcefully infiltrated the store , swiftly seizing iPhones , laptops , tablets and anything within reach on display stands , finishing their plunder in less than a minute . Most suspects appear to be teenagers , including one audaciously strolling out lugging a massive television monitor . With no sense of urgency .
The police are asking help from the public in identifying five of the suspects . At least 52 arrests have been made so far , with burglary , theft and other charges filed against at least 30 people as of Saturday , but the number of suspects seems to be higher .
The flash mob style ransacking Tuesday night targeted dozens of stores , including Foot Locker , lulu Lemon and Apple . Earlier footage from the Apple Store shows the aftermath of the looting , with iPhones and other electronic goods seemingly ripped from their display stands . What appears to be staff members can be seen standing around looking bemused .
Fox News reporter Steve Keely also shared footage showing the fallout of the looting . Officers can be seen placing handcuffs on one man as they guard the exterior of the store . Numerous people can be heard shouting in the background as he is led to the rear of a police .
Van Thieves were left outraged a day after the looting when they discovered Apple had disabled products they stole . At what point does common sense unfold ? We're talking about a trillion dollar company . Why on God's green earth do you think Apple would allow you to keep able these devices that you stole ?
Not to mention the fact that these devices probably were rendered powerless the moment you took them out of the store . But what's interesting about this story is that the looters are then seen pouring a juice like liquid onto the merchandise , as girl recording is heard saying oh my God , this is crazy .
¶ Youth Crime and Social Responsibility
The footage of the aftermath comes as it emerged . Looters had bragged about their planned just hours before hitting swords for a second night of mayhem and Philly . What time we going shopping ? One person said on Instagram hours before their arrest . We looting or not ?
Wrote another Looter , dejiah Blackwell , who livestreamed the robbery in Philadelphia and encouraged others to join in , appeared distraught as police took her mugshot . She was released on $25,000 bail Thursday and brazenly begged her fans to pay for a lawyer and urged people to buy clothing and hats from her brand .
She hired man , who also criticized the media for posting her mugshot with tears streaming down her face and her hair . A mess . Blackwell , meanwhile , has uploaded her mugshot as her profile picture on social media and hinted she may print merchandise featuring the mugshot .
The thieves , the thefts and unrest stretched from downtown to northeast and west Philadelphia , leaving smashed display windows and broken storefront coverings . So here's my concern in the matter . This is a young black content creator . She has a lot of influence , a lot of followers , a lot of people . At what point do you find yourself to be accountable ?
Now let's talk about this whole issue here , because I made a comment on the YouTube page in connection with this story and the response that someone gave me was very foolish . I'm going to have to say it was foolish .
He goes on to say to me he expresses himself in connection with me , being an explicit word of the end variety , and then he goes on to say it's just fun and games , y'all need to chill . What's the big deal ? And I said to him this response just baffles me , it's reckless , it's ridiculous .
I say to him in the comments what is funny about a young teenage person getting punched in the face by police and dragged out of stores ? No response .
These are young black teenagers and what they don't realize is this is why the perception of certain cultural and community endeavors is not met with certain agreement , because when you do things like this , you compromise your standing , you compromise your culture and this makes people afraid of you . This makes people intimidated . I don't understand the logic of it .
Generally , when people rob a store or they go looting , as it were , the goal is to make people realize that they are on this spiral .
But teenagers today , they are on this spiral , some of them , not all , because there are many teenagers who have reached out to me in connection with this podcast and who hit up my email and they respond to the videos and they love it and they have great feedback , positive thoughts .
But at what point do you realize this is foolishness and that there's nothing good going to come out of this ? Someone could have died . It's fortunate enough to know that , even though the police apprehended those in the situation , there was no misuse of power or misuse of weapon Very interesting story that transpired here in Philadelphia .
We know that several were arrested . As far as the parents who were involved or whose children or cousins or aunts are involved , etc .
We wish you guys all the best as they clean up this situation down in Philadelphia On a positive note and a bit of a sad note , our next story leads this way Scholarship in honor of Marietta High School student killed and crash is announced . Going to Marietta , georgia .
A scholarship has been announced in honor of the 16 year old Marietta High School student who was killed earlier this month after crashing into a tree . The Marietta Schools Foundation announced the Live Like Live Scholarship named after Live Tevorino late last week . The school district says Tevorino was an outstanding athlete with strong grades and leadership skills .
The district says she will always be remembered as a beacon of hope and inspiration . Police say Tevorino was driving a 2016 Volvo XC90 burnt Hickory Road near Devon Wood Trail when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree . The vehicle was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived . Tevorino was a junior at the high school at the time of her death .
Details and eligibility requirements will be shared at a later time . One of my stories that I reported a couple of months back , I was expressing to someone I believe this was my wife that these kids who find themselves losing their lives and find themselves dealing with these challenges , these are kids that go to your school .
So if you , as the administrators , as the board of education , if you don't have any condolences or any type of grants honored for these students who have lost their lives , then what are you doing when your student body… is coping with the death of a loved classmate or someone that they charged , who they went to school with , appear ?
At what point do you say , hey , let's step in and do something for those who are still here ?
Well again , for the family of Tevarino , mary of Tevarino , we truly express our condolences on this podcast because , yes , this is a great accomplishment in connection with students who are still here , but you lost your relative and no amount of grants or scholarships or honorary things is going to bring that person back .
But I will say that it's very cool that this school in Georgia is taking some type of steps to be able to bring comfort and condolence to individuals who are still here today . So very nice , very nice story . The football season is gearing up and with football comes a measure of aggression , and I guess you can say that makes sense because it's football .
Whatever right it's , it's an aggressive sport . But some high school students are taking that aggression outside . High school football game in Las Vegas ends in a large brawl . Las Vegas ends in a large brawl . A Las Vegas Valley high school football game ended in a brawl , with people running from the stands onto the field .
The fight happened Friday night at Desert Pines High School after its game with Arborview High School . Now eight news now was at Desert Pines covering the event as part of Game of the Week . After Arborview won the game in double overtime , eight news now witnessed a few players punching each other after shaking hands .
That's when people started running onto the field from the stands . So it seems that we have a case here of sore losing . Bystander noticed that the officers with the Clark County School District Police Department used pepper spray to break up the fight . Video shows both adults and children were involved in the brawl .
Ccsd PD said no one was cited or arrested after the incident . The Clark County School District has not been able to comment in connection with this incident . We don't know as to what the cause is down here .
I know personally that when it comes to sports games , even when I was in school , just a lot of violence , a lot of aggression , a lot of testosterone from these young men just brawled up . Some might even be taking steroids , which I never recommend .
That stuff really warps your mind and it definitely dies down on your thinking ability and you don't want to do that . You don't want to mess up your scholarships or your potential career because you're involved in stuff that could just hinder you . It's not going to do you well in the physical long run .
Well , we hope that they're able to handle this in Las Vegas and that nobody is further injured in connection with these seemingly progressive and frequent football fights . Here's our follow-up story here in age high school students accused of taking grading photos of girls body part . You guys are all familiar with the game Pokemon .
We traded those cards in the best time of my life . But the way they're using him here in this local school in New Hampshire , I just find this to be a bit distressing .
A group of students at New Hampshire's Bedford high school are facing disciplinary action after they allegedly took photos of some of their female classmates , made them into trading cards and graded the pictures . How vile and indiscusting . When I talk to young boys today , they often talk about how they want girls to like them and things that caliber .
Well , this is not one of the ways to get a girl to like you personally . You need to try to be a gentleman . Think more about her in the scenario rather than yourself . You're sexualizing women and it's just not
¶ Inappropriate Behavior and Tragedy in Schools
cool . Administrators at Bedford high school sent a warning to parents this week noting that some freshmen and sophomores mostly boys had created physical and digital trading cards featuring the chests and backsides of girls in the 11th and 12th grades . This is horrible , horrible . A high school senior told NBC 10 Boston . That's just disgusting .
The student says that for at least a week boys had been printing pictures of the girls and taping them over pokemon cards . They were like raiding them , said the student , whom NBC 10 Boston said it cannot name from 0 to 10 . They are just raiding them . Bad or not bad ?
The senior says the girls didn't even know they were on the cards until the last several days . One of them is his friend . She's very upset . She's not happy at all . He said she was just very , very embarrassed . As of Friday afternoon , an online petition calling for the students who created the cards to be expelled had over 1700 signatures .
The superintendent says he still doesn't even know the names of the students or victims and that the district has only received vague complaints . The administrative administration has been talking to kids . No names have come forward . So if there are names , we would like those names . Superintendent Michael Fornier told NBC 10 Boston this is inappropriate .
We're going to deal with it . There will be consequences . Once we know , then we'll know which consequences to issue . Bedford is a town of about 23,000 people . It's located just outside of Manchester and southern New Hampshire and about 1500 students attend the school . This is one of those stories where it really boils down to word of mouth .
If no one steps up and speaks about these vile things that are being done , then it continues to be an underground problem and the superintendent , along with the other schools that he has to purport aside over , is not going to be able to single out individuals if no one speaks up for the females involved in this story .
I want to express just how sorry we are in connection on this podcast , because it's very it's one thing to bully someone , but to use them as sexual objects to to gratify oneself and connection with females .
It's a devastating , a very eerie and creepy kind of feeling and we hope that this thing is is rectified as soon as possible because it could lead to other problems such as depression , anxiety , isolating oneself and even suicidal thoughts and negativity sometimes when you're dealing with these challenges of school , you have to be aware .
I think that one of the things that I really stress to young people today is being aware . You know , when I'm driving my car , I see them in the street and they're like , oh , they're walking down the street had phones in and they're jamming like nothing's going on . And I say to myself , how in the earth are they are in the world ?
Are they living their life as if nothing's going on , when they could be injured , someone could hit them from behind , someone could try to abduct them , someone could be doing something that can put their life in danger , but they're oblivious to it . I never forget .
Years ago , my , my pops helped me to appreciate the value of being aware of my surroundings , and when I was able to do that , it made me feel a little bit more at ease because I knew exactly what was going on around to me .
Well , in this next story , we hope that these students take that proper caution , because you never know what could happen in your local vicinity . A sanford man exposed self to middle school students and chased young girl . Sanford police need help finding a man accused of exposing himself to middle schoolers , even chasing after one of the students .
Sanford , florida , sanford police need your help finding a man accused of exposing himself to middle schoolers , even chasing after one of the students . Just reading that again for emphasis it's just crazy and so close to home .
Said alicia walker , a local mom reacting to the search for 23 year old gerald win , after girl walking to her middle school bus stop near fifth and avocado , and sanford said he purposely exposed himself to her . This was a middle schooler . This man , jarell Winnis , is 23 years old . Excuse me , I called him Jarell before .
She kept walking with friends until she heard footsteps behind her and realized that the man was running after her . It's crazy , you know it's not really safe anymore for our kids . Walker said it's absolutely disturbing , on top of it being behavior that's disgusting in general .
But to target young children on their way to school , said Bianca Gillett with the Sanford Police Department , that is unsettling and unfortunately that is the reality that we are living in . Parents , you have to step it up and teach your children how to protect themselves . Everyone is not your friend .
If it doesn't seem right to you , then it is probably not the right course to follow . A warrant has been issued for the rest of Winn , accusing him of lewd behavior and attempted kidnapping . Gillett says he chased after one of the children walking to the bus stop and grabbed a hold of her backpack before the teen dropped it and ran .
Very smart move Do not try to hold onto the belongings . Get out of there as soon as you possibly can . As the police were investigating on Friday , they determined there have been other incidents in this area , possibly connected to Winn . Those incidents have not been reported .
Our children should be able to walk to school and never encounter a situation such as this one . Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith said in a statement we need to get this man off our streets immediately before he victimizes another child , all these kids out here . They just need to catch him and get it under control .
Walker said anyone who can help finding Winn reach out to Sanford Police . The number is 1-800-423-TIPS . I did try to follow up on this story in connection to see if something developed , if they were able to apprehend this person . So far he is still out there . Be very cautious down there in Florida . Train your kids to be aware of their surroundings .
Make sure you know where they're going , what time they're going to be there , who they're going to be there with . Sometimes , teens and young ones may find this to be an invasion of privacy , but parents have a better perspective . There's some elevation and experience in connection with parenting .
When I was growing up , that was one of the things my mom emphasized to me . I'm not trying to be your friend only .
I'm trying to show you that there are boundaries in life , that there are things that you have to do to become a responsible adult , and part of those things is letting me know where you're at , letting me know that you're safe , giving me some peace of mind so that I'm not aimlessly wandering and wondering what's going to happen to you out there in those streets
. So I love you , mom . I appreciate you for that . Parents , follow that example . Continue to check with your young ones and make sure you're on the lookout . Get the names of teachers that they're familiar with . Make sure you're actively involved in their lives so that you can minimize some of the things that they might encounter on their way to school .
Well , on a bit of a sad news , we find ourselves in Greenville , tennessee . A middle school student passes away after medical emergency . A Greenville middle school student who was hospitalized after suffering a medical emergency earlier this week has died , according to school officials . You guys again have our condolences . I love and support .
Down there in Tennessee , greenville City school superintendent Steve Starnes confirmed Friday that seventh grader and football player Kayden Gunter passed away Tuesday . Kayden experienced a medical emergency during football practice .
According to school officials , family members told Channel 11 on Wednesday that Kayden was in critical condition and being transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville . A vigil was held Wednesday at the school's football field , where community members showed up to show their support for the then hospitalized student . Starnes issued a statement Friday night .
Now the interesting thing about this is and I really appreciate that they were able to give this type of condolence to Kayden's family A lot of people were saying , connection with this story , that Kayden passed away because of the jab , or the students shouldn't give the jab , the COVID shot , etc .
¶ Friday Ice Cream and Students Mourning Teacher
But I'm going to have to disagree with that , and the reason why is because a lot of our dietary everyday foods are not healthy . They're not good for us . So the thing that I'm looking at here is just how much vegetables cost in the supermarket , or fruits . In some aspects it's extremely expensive .
You can go to Burger King and get an entire meal for a family of five , and sometimes it'll come out to less than $30 , depending on sales and promotions . But when you go to shop at a local Whole Foods or you go into certain places that feature whole , healthy food , it's expensive .
So we can't just blame it on one aspect of living , but it could be a multitude of things . If persons are dealing with hereditary challenges , that also can lead to such negative or unhealthy outcomes such as falling asleep and death or trying to cope with different health limitations .
So when you're looking at this story and you're analyzing , try to put yourself in a reasonable and more wider perspective , rather than just pointing to one thing as the cause . Here .
There are disadvantages that we face in this country of America that are not known in Europe , that they don't have to deal with simply because of small things like greed , or people dumping milk to raise the value of it , or the supermarket is not rotating their groceries or food properly .
So we do want to express our condolences to the family of Caden in Tennessee . It's very nice that the team was able to honor him in this beautiful and unique way , and we love that . And we know that it's going to get better little by little , taking your time day by day , step by step . Oftentimes you have to think about the dynamic of life .
So this story it may seem a bit insignificant , right , it may just seem like , oh , whatever , there's no problem . But the reason I brought this story to the attention of my viewers is because it really highlights how nitpicky some persons can be . And I'm not on one side of the issue or the other . I see how both parties .
I see how the other party , the party that's being accused , could have rewarded things better . But if we cultivate reasonableness and we try to put ourselves in other people's shoes , then we might come to a better outcome . Lebanon Elementary School's Ice Cream Friday Post sparked major black backlash from community . This is Ohio .
A post about a local elementary school's ice cream Friday is getting lots of black backlash from the community . Donovan Elementary , which serves third and fourth graders in the Lebanon City School District , made the post to its Facebook page on Thursday . Here's what the post said in connection with the ice cream .
We understand this post , lack empathy , and the thing about it is , when we go over this post , it's a simple statement that they made . I can see , because it was geared to younger students , but you tell me what you think . This is what the post said .
The school said students must have money in their account to purchase an ice cream , saying if a student has a negative balance , they will not be able to purchase an ice cream , even if they bring $1 to school . Students are only allowed to purchase one ice cream and are not permitted to buy an ice cream for a friend .
The post states the post has been shared thousands of times and has thousands of comments from community members sharing frustrations with the post . Yes , and in one breath I can understand why parents are frustrated , why they look at this post in connection with oh , it's not tack-full or the elementary school kids , etc .
But at the same time , it's amazing how times have changed . No , I'm not saying that you should talk to kids harshly and be nasty . Someone quoted here . It says the wording lacked empathy and sensitivity for students who have low or negative meal account balances . The school apologizes that wasn't their intention .
But it's interesting how parents want to jump to the defense in connection with their child and how someone is saying something to them . But yes , some of their kids speak crazy and disrespectful to other people themselves and I'm not saying that that's what happened here in the school or is happening , but it has happened .
And so when your child says something disrespectful or your child says something out of the way , you want the benefit of the doubt to be extended to them , and I think it should be extended here as well . If a student has a negative balance on their meal account , according to the school , they are not allowed to purchase ice cream .
The district said they also do not accept cash at their cafeteria registers or permits students to purchase food for their classmates without prior parent permission . And that's reasonable to me , because I've been in situations where students have told me oh , I bought this for my friend and I have this money here and I want him to have this .
And the next day I know I get a call or a text from the dispatch or parents saying oh , by the way , my son did this and he did not permission for that and it was done in your care . What's going on ? Don't want to be involved and so sometimes to be able to just keep peace .
Ultimately , you will send out harsh seeming emails or say things that may seem strong or abrasive , but the intent is to keep peace in the long run , not to cause division . Now , every student at Donovan Elementary School did receive an ice cream or other treat on Friday . So the school was reasonable .
They did make sure that this children were able to get what they needed and I appreciate them meeting the parents halfway , because the school could have definitely went the other direction and said you know what , forget it , we don't care , we're going to do this and we're going to be fine with it . But that's not the mentality to have .
So when you make a mistake or you realize that something happened and you can adjust your viewpoint , just adjust your viewpoint , because you never know what that could do for someone else and that really will make things not only peaceful for you and the other person but also for you yourself .
Now we're coming into my hometown of New Jersey for this next story . This is a Atlantic . We're down in the South Jersey , as it were , and my heart goes out to those students , because good teachers are hard to find . Nj High School mourns the death of popular teacher , senior class advisor .
Egg Harbor Township High School staff , students and community members are mourning the death of a popular teacher and the senior class advisor over the weekend . Today was a very sad day for EHTHS and the community as we mourn the loss of our beloved social studies teacher , mr Doug Winkler , the high school announced Saturday on its Facebook page .
Mr Winkler has touched the lives of so many as a teacher , coach and class advisor . His dedication to his students and the school will be greatly missed . Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult time . Mr Winkler's family . To the family of Doug Winkler again expressing our condolences from New Jersey .
¶ Car Crash Sparks Road Safety Concerns
We love New Jersey teachers because they deal with the uniqueness of just city life . Even though this is an Egg Harbor , there still is unique challenges of being a teacher in New Jersey and you have our honor . You have our respect . I personally had a favorite teacher because he took so much personal interest in me .
He was like an uncle to me in difficult times , even down to my drama teacher going to school in Elizabeth . It really makes a difference when you have a teacher who cares and that is what is going to be missed at the school because some teachers just don't have it . Some teachers go in , they want to get the money , they want to get out .
Some teachers don't even like kids . So it's like why are you in this profession if you don't like kids Not my business . I try not to go that far , but again , it is definitely something that we can empathize with . Here on the podcast , it Winkler 41 of Hamilton was remembered for his concern for students and his good humor .
In a post on the school's senior class Instagram page , the cause of his death was not disclosed . On September 23 , 2023 , the class of 2024 lost our beloved advisor , mr Douglas Winkler . The message said . Anyone who knew him understood how funny and caring he was to all of his students .
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all those close to him . The high school announced on Sunday that it's Spirit Week Pep Rally , homecoming , coronation and Dance , would be rescheduled to October . Well , I think that is remarkable that the school is taking such adjustment so that they can be able to deal with these heavy emotions .
In some schools they don't care , they don't express concern . They'll mention an announcement over the loudspeaker during the morning announcement and then everyone goes about their day . But this teacher was loved and , obvious , for good reason .
It's nothing more exciting and encouraging than having a funny school teacher , especially someone who teaches a tough subject that it could be at times , very often , times again . We're moving on in this story and oftentimes you hear about these things and you never know how close to home we can be .
And when I came across this story came to my desk I looked at the age of the victim here and I just it just caught me emotionally . I , I don't know it just how I would fare being a teenager in school during the times that we live in today . Police identified new Milford high school student killed in crash . He was identified as a caring young man .
New Milford school students and teachers Are prepared to gather to remember the caring 17 year old senior who was killed in a car crash on Friday . Local officials say more must be done to prevent accidents on busy route 7 . Now again Expressing our heartfelt condolences to you guys . We love you guys down there .
We know it's not easy when you lose a classmate or friend , but please hang on . Here's something that I thought that was in that was of interest . I was working at a company and there was a school bus driver who was texting and driving .
He was in Texas and what happened was he lost control of a school bus , it wrapped around a tree and he killed six students .
After that moment the company decided to put high-tech cameras in their bus , and the interesting thing that I found about that is and this is something that really stuck with me in my life why does someone have to die or lose their life for us to be more aware ?
I'm pretty sure that this may not have been the first time someone's identified route 7 is busy , but now a 17 year old has lost their life that it could have possibly been prevented if someone would have took action a lot sooner . Police have identified the new Milford high school student killed Friday in the three-car crash as 17 year old Julio Gomez .
Police at Gomez was a passenger and an infinity involved in the crash . The driver of that car , also 17 , remains in critical condition , new Milford police said Monday . And then here's the second thing that I find to be of interest he wasn't the driver .
The driver survived , he's in critical condition and it's just unfortunate that these things happen oftentimes to the persons who are passengers and it's heinous to think about . It's very sad , very depressing . Julio Gomez joined the green wave two years ago , transferring to us from Danbury , new Milford . Superintendent Janet Peralado said in a statement .
Julio enjoyed attending new Milford High School athletic Contests and socializing with his friends . Julio was a caring young man who was looking forward to his senior year and going to college To occupants of a Nissan Rogue that was also involved or hospitalized following the crash .
According to police , the Nissan's 29 year old passenger was taken to Danbury Hospital and was listed in critical condition . According to police , the person was later transferred to another hospital and new Milford police said they do not have an update or on the condition for the passenger .
The 48 year old driver of the Nissan was listed in stable condition at Danbury Hospital . Police said the driver of the third vehicle declined medical attention .
According to the police , mayor Pete Baz said the crash has sparked concern from residents about accidents on route 7 , a state route , where police have said there were more than 230 crashes last year in the business corridor . And that brings me to that point . At what , when ? At to what end ? When do we decide to do something about this ?
Why have there been 230 crashes in connection with this business corridor ? The State Department of Transportation already plan to perform a traffic study to add lighting on part of the roadway , baz said in a Facebook post . State rep Bill Bucketby are new Milford , who introduced a bill advocating for traffic lights said .
The study has to happen right away and , honestly , at this point it just makes me disgusted with the story that I don't even want to read any further . The fatal crash was reported around 2 25 pm on route 7 , also known as Danbury Road , near the Italy , a Mia restaurant . A new Milford police Lieutenant , lee Grabner , said in a news release Monday .
Investigators determined the 2006 infinity G35 Gomez was riding in was heading north on the road in the right lane when the driver turned left from the southbound lanes to go to the restaurant . The infinity and the Hyundai collided , causing the Infinity to also strike the 2013 Nissan Rogue that was heading south on route 7 .
Gomez was taken to Danbury Hospital where he he died . There was a candlelight vigil for the new Milford High School senior . It was planned to be held at the school Monday night . Grief support was also available over the weekend and on Monday to students , community members and first responders alike . School was closed on Monday for Yom Kippur .
The vigil was not open to the media . Julio has always , always been valued being part of a family , palado said . This showed in his love for both his own family and the new Milford High School community as well . So it's one of those stories where you , you , just you find yourself sick to your stomach .
They are taking the precautions now to be able to analyze this road and to be able to see as to what they can do to make it better , but I believe personally that something should have been done about the road in the first place . I think about the city of Newark in New Jersey .
People are reckless , double parking cars , there is prostitution everywhere , drug addicts everywhere . There are things that go on that literally could in someone's life with the with a blink of an eye , and you think to yourself when is someone going to do something about it ? When is someone going to say , hey , I care . Well , we continue to wait for that day .
We hope that those adjustments to route number seven is going to make a difference and can also make a difference , is going to make a difference in connection with those using that road further seniors , further people that's going to be on the road , but people , just civilians .
But until then , we again want to express our condolences to Julio's , his family , just so sorry that this unforeseen occurrence has come upon you all . Our next story Again gives homage to teachers , staff dealing with challenging circumstances , trying to do the right
¶ School Violence and Parental Misconduct
thing . Concerns grow after staff injured breaking up fights . More weapons found on campus Hope County , north Carolina . To high school school staff members in Hope County were treated for minor injuries they received while breaking up a fight . According to the interim superintendent , several students were involved in a fight on campus Monday morning .
The school resource officers , other staff members and administrators responded to the area to break up the fight . While Intervening to stop the fight , two staff members received minor injuries . Both were taken to the hospital for treatment .
Law enforcement agencies in Hope County are investigating the incident and Appropriate disciplinary and possible legal action could be taken . Rodney shot Well said and an email to ABC 11 . No other injuries have been reported . The growing number of violent incidents and guns found in schools have prompted concerns from many .
Yolanda Johnson is a grandparent who has watched the violence escalate and become more common . She's not the only one concerned , after several instances already this school year where students have brought guns to campus . So this is the thing in connection with with teachers stepping into breakup fights , etc .
Now teachers are facing a challenge and with their own lives or interpreting . At what point does someone step in and say we need to help these teachers , because it's one of two things is gonna happen .
Teachers are gonna be killed trying to stop the violent outrage of students and teens today students , young ones today or they're going to stop teaching , they're going to get up , pack their bags and say it's not worth the risk .
There is a terrible , terrible future for school and teaching and education coming upon this country if no one steps in to help these teachers . And that's the thing that concerns me personally the most . Even as a school bus driver , I don't know if something , someone , is going to be bold or crazy enough to bring a gun on my bus .
That's something I have to worry about and live with . Every single day has to be cautious . I have to pay attention to student patterns , etc . But these teachers , they seem like they're having enough and if no one steps in , eventually they're just gonna they're gonna push the jobs aside and do something else .
One another sad note we're dealing with another loss of several students here . This is now South Carolina . A South Carolina high school is in morning after three teenage students were killed in a weekend shooting . What one . One of the senseless stories that that came to the desk and expressing condolences down in South Carolina .
I have family , south Carolina , some cousins that are perhaps in in grade school now and these states they really they really do well to pay more attention to what's going on in these schools . Sheriff's deputies responded to the shooting in Columbia , the state Capitol , just after 2 pm Sunday . The Richland County Sheriff's Department said any news release .
They found four people with gunshot wounds who were then taken to a hospital . Three victims were 16 and 17 years old and died at the hospital , and the fourth victim was released . The Sheriff's Department said a Fish was did not release further details , including on who was responsible for the shooting . The teenagers who were killed all attended Claire high school .
According to a statement from Richland one superintendent , dr Craig witherspoon , the district provided additional counseling and security at the high school Monday in response to the unimaginable tragedy , which witherspoon decreed as senseless gun violence . Now I I agree with that completely .
One additional source makes a mention that this person who did this shooting , as it were , was quite young too .
Sources were not able to confirm the identity of such person , but I'm seeing that more and more that young persons are violently attacking their peers and at that moment that's where I'm like okay , things are really starting to escalate and become out of hand and I can understand , while some while , why some young people don't want to find themselves going to school
anymore because it used to be a place of safe haven , but now you find yourself having to run from the very place that you wanted to be safe , that you feel as though you need it to Be safe . Very , very distressing stories . I follow up parent arrested at local high school homecoming dance .
Now , I know my parents are pretty wild , they have their fun times etc . But I don't think they've ever been arrested in connection with what's going on with the Anderson Township , ohio . A parent was arrested while picking up a student from Anderson High School's Homecoming Dance Saturday for being unruly .
Steven Stevens was charged with disorderly conduct , criminal trespass and resisting arrest . So that's the thing right there .
Okay , so you know , I get that you want to protect your child and you want to be able to be that parent for them and step up , but when it comes to resisting arrest and going against the cops and authority , look at the bigger picture , because now , if you were trying to protect your child or you were trying to get control of a situation , you made another
situation , because now you're arrested and your child is without their parent for however long you're going to be in jail ? According to an email from the school to parents , the altercation between Stevens and the school resource officer happened at the pickup line and in the presence of students waiting to be picked up .
The school resource officer said Stevens refused to leave . He also said Stevens' . Breath smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred . Thankfully , no students or staff members were involved and the situation was resolved by a school resource officer . The email reads Stevens did not have to post a bond to get out of jail Monday . Well , that's refreshing .
He was able to get out quite lickety-split , it's . It was an interesting story . I think that when it comes to parents , there are a lot of stresses on parents today , and so he may have had a sip , a few sips , before he went to pick up his kid . That's something that can can happen to persons , but it is one of it's one of the .
It's rough , it's really rough and it can go either way with this story . It can go to the left , it can go to the right , but even more so , we do understand that being a parent is a trying circumstance .
It will test your patience , your endurance , but just be mindful of what that could have potentially led to in the future , and so just just keeping that in mind in connection with the child and the student , especially for those who may want to have children . This is a chilling and gripping story , but it had to be covered .
A 34 year old former middle school teacher for Grand Prairie ISD received two prison sentences and a $2,000 fine after pleading guilty to an improper relationship with a teenage former student . Matthew Ramos pleaded guilty to the charges on July 19 .
Court documents said Ramos began a relationship with a 16 year old high school student whom he formerly taught in middle school in the fall of 2021 . The high school and middle school buildings were connected and on the same campus . The documents say Ramos asked for her phone number and began sending her inappropriate text .
Through fall , ramos and the teen exchanged sexual photos and text , culminating with them kissing in his classroom . In October of that year , other students in the class started whispering about Ramos having a relationship with a student , and the school administration got involved . When questioned by law enforcement , here's the kicker guys .
Ramos initially denied any improper relationship with the girl and said no new photos were ever exchanged . However , he later told officers he was in love with the high school student . Ramos also showed the officers a new tattoo sleeve on his arm that symbolized his relationship with the girl and said he had given her a promise ring .
According to court documents , detectives downloaded a copy of Ramos's phone and found explicit messages and nude photos of the child that had been sent between him and the student . The documents say Ramos also texted the student saying he wanted to bring a gun into the school to take care of the girls , who told the administration about their relationship .
On Thursday , judge Cindy Ermentinger of the 43rd District Court heard testimony from the 16-year-old student , her mother , a coworker , a detective , ramos's family members and Ramos . Ermentinger sentenced Ramos to 15 years in prison for the improper relationship with a student charged and 10 years in prison with a $2,000 fine for the online solicitation charge .
The sentences will run concurrently , so this is something that has come up often .
¶ Accountability and Student Disciplinary Actions
When a child is involved in a relationship with a person , persons will often focus on the fact that this person was groomed , this person was this , this person was that , and there is a measure of responsibility that has to take place . These are the things that I find to be just very interesting .
If a child commits a crime , such as looting a store , or they rob or kill someone , they are tried as an adult . Well , the children too know that certain things are just inappropriate and wrong . And the fact that this person was concealing this relationship , this young girl was concealing this relationship , that doesn't look good for her .
That doesn't look good for her at all , and it's interesting that students stepped in , that that students stepped in . I'm glad the administration was quick with this , but I just find it to be of interest how that works . Okay , both parties in the situation . They should be . It should be wrong .
It should be wrong Just as well as I know going out there and murdering someone is wrong . These children , they know killing someone is wrong . They know to be involved with a grown person is wrong , whether they feel pressured to or not .
And that's just the interesting thing about the scenario , and that's some of the the the commentation I've been getting back in connection with these stories . At what point will things progress ? And with this accountability for that kind of conduct ? Well , we're not sure , but we'll never . We never know what can happen in the future .
Until then , though , this was a very , very chilling story , and I know that things are going to continue to escalate regarding these communications , because there are stories in which the students don't speak up and no one knows about it or says anything . A lot of underground relationships between teachers and students , and that is just something that you just can't .
You can't fathom , you can't even imagine how much that goes on in the school districts today . Here's another story that you won't be able to imagine or fathom Herrick's middle school parents break silence as teacher removed over explicit pics he sent to YouTube or posing as a girl . Now listen to this . So there's a YouTuber who has this show .
Right , it's called to catch a predator style . Right , it's a sting operation . Notice what ? The band teacher here . This is a band teacher . The band teacher at Herrick's middle school in Long Island , new York , was allegedly named by a YouTuber who posed as a 15 year old in a how to catch a predator style sting .
The unidentified teacher for the Herrick's Union Free School District is being investigated by school officials , who described the video as disturbing and upsetting . Using an online chat room , the YouTuber first connected with a stranger who said he was a teacher in his 40s .
The teacher allegedly used graphic language , sent sexual photos and shared his phone number with the YouTuber . The YouTuber , pretending to be a 15 year old girl , then used AI to search some images and determine the user's identity . New York radio station Tintin wins reports he confronted the man and said he would notify his family and employer of their conversations .
On Tuesday night the Herrick's Board of Education learned the video was circulating the internet and began investigating . They chose to remove the teacher from the classroom and notify authorities , while making sure the students were safe . Superintendent Dr Tony Sananis said in a statement it happens more than you guys realize .
It happens more and more every day than you realize . These teachers , these grown adults acting out , carrying out , touched his eyes . Me and my wife have six children in the school district . A couple of my older children had that teacher and it's awful , says one parent . It was always my dream to have him be in the jazz band .
One mom said of her middle school age child . For this to happen now . It's heartbreaking and shocking . The Nassau County Police Department told the US Sun that a report has not been filed and Dr Sananis said there are no updates to provide as of Monday . The Nassau District Attorney's Office is also investigating the incident . Nothing further with this story .
But parents are outraged , and they should be . They should be , and the sad part about it is there is no way to filter this out , because you can go through the process , you can hire a teacher . That's good .
You can be able to go through all of these background checks and if they get into the school system , through with flying colors and they change their mindset or they decide to act on these desires , then then what happened ?
And that's why there should be accountability on both parts , because at certain ages , you know right from wrong , you know it's wrong to do certain things . You know , and so that in that way , that can be a deterrent in connection with students now realizing that they're going to be accountable for certain actions as well .
Here's the next story in connection with accountability and action Students at Sandman High School faced disciplinary action after photo using racial slur posted on social media . Six students wore letters that spelled out the N word while surrounding a student and using vulgar hand signs Boys , idaho .
The student on the ground is also holding up her middle finger to the others behind her . Now this photo here was posted and began circulating on Instagram . The post made by a student earlier Tuesday morning has since been deleted . Of course you can't delete anything from the media , so you guys will see this photo on TikTok firsthand .
The superintendent of the district , dr Troy Easterday , said as soon as the school became aware of the post the administrative team was brought in . He told KTVB that students said the post was not maliciously made .
As superintendent of the Sandman School District , I am well aware of the current situation happening with a social media post by our Sandman School District student . At this time the administrative team of the Sandman School District is investigating this post and will keep the community aware within the legal confines of the law .
Ktvb received several emails from parents in the district expressing anger , even if it was a joke , and some said this type of racially charged behavior has occurred before . Superintendent Easterday said he has not seen anything like it since he's been at the position .
Nothing has ever been brought to my desk that there's ever been a situation like this and that it hasn't been taken seriously Not while I've been here . Our team did not hesitate to act . We did all the right legal steps to make sure disciplinary action was taken . The district also notified law enforcement and board members .
So here's a great case of students being accountable . Yes , we have to think about the word joke and identify it for some people , because for some people , they think that a joke is whatever they find to be funny and offensive and discussing and gross , and then unleash that nonsense on other people .
Here's the definition of a joke A thing that someone says to cause amusement or laughter , especially a story with a funny punchline . Fine . A joke is a display of humor in which words are used within a specific and well-defined narrative structure to make people laugh and is usually not meant to be interpreted literally .
If you try to make a joke on someone in connection with racism or things that they personally find offensive , then the joke is not on them . At this point it's on you , because you're fooling yourself into thinking that you're joking about something because you find it funny , but the other person finds it offensive .
You might want to check yourself , because it's a serious type of game that you're playing . Playing around with race is never a good idea , especially this day and age . So , whether the student is meant to be a joke or not , it is offensive to certain people .
We know what happened in history in connection with black people and racism and what happens to this very day . So why would that even be a subject of joking ? It just doesn't make any sense to me . But that's just my personal preference . Am I offended by the story ? Absolutely not , because I don't have time for ignorance either way .
But I do find it just of interest how certain people think that things are funny because they find it to be funny and just have no disregard or respect for anyone's feelings but their own . This next story here again my heart goes out as a bus driver , school bus driver , because I just when these things happen , I just know that they can be prevented .
¶ Violence in Fresno, New Jersey, Oregon
12 year old student hit by a car near central Fresno . This is Fresno , california . A 12 year old student was hit by a car near a school in Central Fresno Wednesday morning . The Fresno Police Department says it happened at about 7.30 am on Olive and 9th . Officers say the girl was hit by a 17 year old driver as he turned onto Olive from 9th .
She was not seriously hurt but was taken to the hospital . The driver remained at the scene . The police say he did not have a license . This comes less than a day after the Muir Elementary Safe Roots to School Project was discussed , providing safer routes to school for Fresno students .
Those improvements come at a time when the Central Valley has seen a number of recent crashes around schools . Nothing is more worse than being hit , whether in your vehicle or your person , by someone who does not have a driver's license .
The article does not specify if this person will be charged , but they can expect that there will be major accountability , because not only did they hit a child in connection with child endangerment , but they also hit a child without a license . We're returning back now to New Jersey for this next story and we're just winding down .
We have about three more stories to go until we conclude this episode . Plainfield High School student stabbed at local park . Plainfield you think it's a relatively decent area , but I'm coming to find that there's no such thing as decent anymore . Wherever there's people , there's mentality that may not be great , and that's where danger lurks in every corner .
A student at Plainfield High School was stabbed Wednesday afternoon at a local park . The school district says the student was involved in a violent altercation and taken to a hospital . The extent of the student's injuries were not immediately known . A folding knife was recovered from a backpack at the scene Wednesday .
Stabbing was the second dangerous incident for the district . In the day , just before 3pm , a weapon was found in a dumpster on the Cedar Brook K-38 campus . Police are now trying to figure out who put the weapon there . The Plainfield Public School district says it remains committed to maintaining the safety of its students . The story is still being updated .
They're still investigating . I did some searches prior to this episode . Nothing as of yet . But again , I know that it can be frightening to go to school under these circumstances , so not at least the kids playing hooky , kids not going to school . This is New Jersey , this is my backyard .
I'm not too far from Plainfield myself , but it's just interesting that these acts of violence are becoming more and more aggression , more aggravation in the school system than ever before . We hope that you guys are able to resolve this in a swift manner .
Our follow up story here is just expressing our condolences to another student who has lost his life in senselessness . It was a very tragic story and we do want to extend our condolences to the family . 13 year old St Paul's middle school student shot and killed at House Party .
Edgar Salinas , a 13 year old student at St Paul's middle school , was shot and killed Tuesday night , the sheriff's office and family members said . Family members said was started as a party at a home along La Paz Drive and Red Springs ended in a tragedy next door . Robinson County deputies responded around 916 pm Thursday to a report ofa shooting .
Authorities pronounced Edgar Salinas dead at the scene . Jennifer Chavez , the sister of Salinas , found his body lying on the floor in his room and called the police . Chavez said her brother was a sweet soul who loved to play sports . She thinks the shooting was an accident . It was an accident . Chavez said . They were playing around . Salinas was in seventh grade .
He wanted to play soccer for the school team . Chavez said of her late brother . Authorities let St Paul's middle school administrators know of the news . We are saddened by the news that one of our students passed away last night . The school wrote in a letter to family . Our prayers are with all of his family and friends .
We will have a crisis team on campus Wednesday to offer support to any student or staff member who may need it . Also , robinson County Schools spokesperson Jessica Sealy spoke out about the loss of Salinas .
We send our deepest condolences to Edgar's family during this difficult time , sealy said we also ask the community to keep Edgar's teachers , classmates and school in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult time of loss . Law enforcement officers are still trying to determine if any charges should be brought . Very , very , very tragic .
I can't believe just how quick this happened . His sister , just as someone who lost their sibling to gun violence . When my brother was killed in connection with his murder , the detective had us watch the tape to see if we could be able to identify someone . That was the last memory I have of him .
I can only imagine what Jennifer Chavez is feeling or experiencing . We are just so sorry on this platform . Take it one day at a time . Talk to someone about the good times you have with your brother . Don't forget that therapy is an option and it works , and it does help one Pick up a hobby .
One of the things that can really help us is having a hobby , not being so absorbed in the loss and just being able to take productive steps and practical measures each and every single day . Another loss that was just very , very difficult to be able to encounter . Ashland County , ohio .
School officials announced the sudden passing of Bre McKeon , a senior at Mapleton High School in Ashland County . Mckeon died due to a medical emergency during homecoming festivities before Friday night's football game , according to a statement posted on the Mapleton local school district website .
Our hearts , thoughts and prayers go out to the McKeon family , friends and the Mapleton community . The district said in part McKeon was on the homecoming court . According to school officials , the Mapleton and South Central football game was suspended at halftime when the teams and student body were notified of the tragic event .
The school district's post stated Saturday night's homecoming dance has been canceled , according to school officials , who added that grief counselors will be available for students and staff Monday . Wow , very , very tragic news . It's just young people today . I mean , I know that a lot has to do with the diet and a food that we have to intake each and every day .
Me personally , I'm trying myself to lose weight because I worry about myself or worry about my health , et cetera , et cetera . And for you , young people and I'm not saying that this is the case what happened to Bre McKeon ? Here Again , just expressing heartfelt condolences to the family and friends involved in this story . We love you , guys .
But for young people today , guys , this is why it's so important for you to exercise , for you to take care of yourselves better , not reason . I'm going to be young forever , not reasoning . I don't need that Not reasoning . That's for old people . You have to take accountability for your actions and do something that's going to be able to help you be productive .
Wow , very , very , very distressing story . Guys , I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this in Ohio . Here's our final story for the night . Guys .
Now I was in TikTok , I jumped in on the TikTok live and there's a lot of people who have different views and connection with persons of certain lifestyles and et cetera , and one of the challenges now is how they're going to deal with this assault that occurred to this young girl .
Now I'm not able to upload the video because TikTok will definitely take it down . I've tried it and so maybe I'm able to get it through you guys through another platform , or you can just be able to search it up on the TikTok box . Oregon Middle School won't say whether student filmed attacking smaller girl is transgender . Now this is to .
While it's in Oregon , the school will not comment on whether a student who was seen beating up a smaller girl in a school hallway earlier this month is transgender . Hazelbrook Middle School spokesperson , tracy Rose , told the Oregonian that federal law prohibited the school from discussing a student's gender identity .
Video footage of the incident showed a larger student wearing girls clothes dragging a smaller girl classmate by her backpack in the hallway before pulling the victim's hair and hitting her several times . It was a senseless beating , guys . When I looked at it I said , oh my goodness , she is really going in on this girl . She's pummeling her to a pulp .
You can literally hear the punches as she's just giving to this girl in the video . The attack left the victim in tears and can be heard in the video . This is the girl saying I can't breathe . It is unclear what prompted the beating .
The identities of the two students have not been publicly released , but the video led to public outrage after it was shared online . Some members of the public angered by the incident have alleged that the attacker is transgender , but it is unclear at this time if the student is actually transgender . Toalatin Police arrested the suspected attacker on assault charges .
The police department told Fox News Digital that the case has been referred to the Washington County juvenile department . The juvenile department said it has received a law enforcement referral regarding the incident and a petition was filed with the juvenile court for assault for and harassment .
The video of the attack was shared widely on social media , including by former University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gamed , who has been a vocal advocate against transgender women competing in women's sports since she competed against transgender swimmer Leah Thomas in college .
After the attack and subsequent outrage of the incident , the school was forced to evacuate on Friday . Over social media and email threats to bomb and shoot up the school . Bomb threats were made against the homes of school and district staffers and city officials .
The day after the clip was shared on social media , threats of a school shooting were also made and the school was forced to evacuate its staff and students .
The school board said in a statement on Thursday that the students in the video of the hallway attack had not consented to it being shared and that the clip prompted false information and a focus and discourse on sexual identity . These acts have contributed to the trauma individuals and families are already experiencing .
A petition was shared among parents who called for harsher penalties for students who commit violence , particularly for repeat offenders . A video of a second incident that allegedly involved the same attacker was shared online . In this clip , the student could be seen shoving another girl to the ground .
A third student attempted to intervene , but the attacker began also hitting her , throwing her to the ground and throwing more punches . The fight ended after an adult was heard instructing the students to back away . A lot of persons are very upset with what's happening . They feel that certain persons are being taken advantage of .
They feel as though people are hiding behind preferences and choices . That is leading to a lot of friction and anxiety . One of the things that is of ultimate concern to me is the fact that they are threatening to blow up to school . There are innocent children that go to school that have nothing to do with this .
For you to blow up to school or have a shooting for one incident , for one person , what will that accomplish ? But make more mayhem , make more mess and make more hate ?
We hope that the board acts with wisdom , discretion , respect and guidance to be able to defuse some of the actions and attitudes of these people , because , if not , someone is going to get hurt , someone is going to get killed and it's going to lead to a lot of heartbreak and devastation .
I hope that we don't have a follow up story of something of that nature on this show .
