¶ School Violence and Safety Concerns
This is the Everyday Podcast for the Everyday People . Guys , welcome back to another unique episode of R-E-D . It's the Everyday Podcast with the Everyday People , and I just wanted to comment , in connection with a story that was mentioned , about a school repraining to identify a student in connection with their gender .
It's red light hour and we can be able to discuss it , so the purpose of me bringing certain content to fruition , to your faces , to the platform , is not one to sway your opinions .
It's to be able to inform you of what's going on in the school systems today , along with all things movies , and to be able to help you to see as to how you can cope with these challenges . If there's a basis for peace or yielding on both parties parts , or even one person's part , then that will leave way for a better tomorrow .
That way , you can avoid some of the common pitfalls that are so human today .
So when people make statements in connection with how I feel about certain matters or why certain things come to fruition , I'm going to answer your questions in connection with what the school has set for their standards , and one of the things that the schools have made mentions is that , because of the way things are developing today .
There are going to be certain questions that they're going to have to ask to get the details needed to provide the proper discipline .
When it comes to these stories , I often try to get to the bottom of the situation and look at the overall picture , and in this particular story , parents are very upset and they were talking about bombing this school , and one of the things that I found to be unsettling is that there are innocent students attending this school whose lives could be in jeopardy
because of this incident that occurred between the two people . So it's very important that we come across these stories . We try to continue to see as to how we can benefit or learn from the mistakes of others . Nobody's perfect . Everyone makes mistakes .
So it's always good to be able to just have a stream of information in which you're not pushed one way or the other , but that you can freely express yourself and be able to see as to how it will benefit you and even maybe , a friend or someone that you love and hold dearly . We have 20 stories in this show .
That is going to leave you in all shock and amazement and one of the things I find to be of interest and connection with this show or this particular episode , is that the stories are just gripping . They'll have you on the edge of your seat . Take this first story , for example .
Michigan teen accused of throwing chair at teacher's head arrested , faces assault charges . So now , when this came to the desk , I'm looking at this story and I'm thinking to myself what in the world could this possibly mean ? Or what could this possibly be ?
The 15 year old Michigan high school student accused of launching a metal chair at her unsuspecting teacher's head was arrested and faces felony charges . Following the unacceptable act of violence , the Guenesee County prosecutor's office charged the unnamed junior at Southwestern Classical Academy with two counts of felony assault for throwing the chair and injuring her teacher .
In the now viral video recorded on Thursday , two female students were involved in a heated argument where they shouted obscenities at one another from across the classroom . The teacher , who attempted to restore order between the students , had her back turned when one of the girls picked up the metal chair and hurled it in the educators direction .
The chair struck the teacher in the head , causing her to drop to the floor , where she remained still for seven seconds . At this point we're dealing with assault . Obviously , we're not going to be able to identify the minor involved because of the fact that she's a minor in connection with the law .
The school's resource officer was called to break up the fight and found the teacher lying on the ground with head injuries . This is Flint police chief , terrence Green . He made this quote Statement . Both girls involved in the fight were arrested . The unnamed educator was quickly rushed to the hospital to treat her head injury and is doing well .
According to a statement from district superintendent Kevillian Jones . She has since been released from the hospital and expressed plans to return to the classroom . The superintendent shared that the student who threw the chair will be held accountable according to the law and the district's code of conduct .
Then there is a letter here provided , which you'll be able to see at a later time . This was a very , very , very interesting story because now teachers are finding themselves in a position where they may not necessarily want to teach . Someone may say well , that's heinous . Think about a teacher's salary for a minute .
This is going to help us in a later story we're going to discuss . A teacher's salary is anywhere between $35,000 to $40,000 a year . This is not something that is a lot of money . This is not something that this is just basic income .
The viral video which has amassed over 21 million views on X , formerly known as Twitter , has speak outrage among local leaders , who pointed out that assault amplifies Michigan's poor school system . Now I just wanted to highlight that this is not just a Michigan school system issue . It's a pandemic , it's an epidemic . I should say it's all over the country .
All over the country . What happens is a lot has to do with a student's lack of respect for a teacher . If the teachers aren't respected by their students , then they're going to resort to this kind of treatment . Now you have a situation in which you are limiting people's desires to be in these professions .
No one in their right mind is going to risk being assaulted , attacked or even possibly killed for some $35,000 to $40,000 a year . Our next story highlights just how much you can discover in the school system . Students find body near Akron school . This is Akron , ohio . A body was found by students outside an Akron middle school Thursday morning .
According to a statement from Hiree CLC . In a letter for Hiree CLC , parents and guardians from principal Jessica Sacks on Thursday , as a group of students were on their way to class , they found a body near the school grounds . The body was reported to authorities immediately and police are investigating . Here is a quote here made from the administration .
I want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority and I wish to provide you with information and reassurance regarding the situation . Sacks said in part we will continue to cooperate fully with the police investigation and provide any assistance necessary to ensure a swift and thorough resolution to this matter .
According to Sacks , the situation did not involve any students at Hiree CLC aside from the witnesses of the body . She also goes on to mention I understand that this incident may raise questions and concerns both for you and your children . We have taken the steps to ensure the emotional and psychological well-being of our students , sac said .
Now , according to the letter , school counselors and support staff are available to help any students and there will be increased security at the school . The school staff and administration are committed to maintaining a safe environment at the school .
¶ Body, Gun, and Missing Student Incident
I'll never forget when I found my first body and I was walking home . It was a dark fall , kind of evening afternoon , as it were , and I'm walking down the street , all do-do-do-do-do , and on the ground is the body , and I'm petrified and I muster up the strength .
I don't know how I was able to do this man , because I was like 17 at the time and I make my way to the house to get my parents .
We come outside , we call the ambulance the guys are still laying on the ground and the ambulance get there and all of a sudden the guy gets up like something out of a crazy movie and the ambulance checks his eyes out , the EMTs , they check him out and I'm like what in the world is going on ? They asked the guy why was he down there ?
He says , and I quote I just was taking a nap In the middle of the sidewalk on a dark evening . I found out to be very interesting . So if that experience that these students are dealing with or encountered in connection with this story was very similar to how I felt , then I can understand as to why this counseling being provided .
We wish you guys all the best down there in Akron , ohio . The follow-up story here Garrett Elementary parent charged with having gun after incident in Carr Rider line . This is Alamance Burlington Schools Official said an incident between two parents in the Carr Rider lane that Garrett Elementary led to one of them being charged . And this is Mebben , north Carolina .
We're at Alamance , burlington School District and Mebben police said a parent was charged for having a gun at Garrett Elementary School Friday morning . Police said officers responded to the school just before eight AM over a fight between two parents in the Carr Rider line . They said one of the parents had a gun . So it's eight o'clock in the morning .
You and the parent get into a dispute and your first inclination is to reach for your gun . As a result , 29 year old Daneisha Barber was charged with possession of a firearm on school property . People are in a hurry in the morning . Sometimes I feel like rational judgment gets lost somewhere .
According to parent Adam Powell , he dropped off his kids to Garrett Elementary just 20 minutes before the incident happened . Another parent is grateful her child took the bus this morning . For some reason I was like no , she was going to ride the bus today . As she was riding the bus , my first thought was thank God she did . This is Erica Ventura .
An ABSS spokesperson said the school has a method for pick up and drop off for students . Seven cars can drive up at a time and students are escorted to the vehicles . The district said that process can take about 20 minutes total . It's all about patience when you're sitting in the car line , no matter which school you are at .
You just have to remain patient with yourself and allow plenty of time . This is Les Atkins . Police said no one was hurt and there was no threat made to students . Barber was arrested and released on a written promise . So patience this article highlights that twice . That's where I come in at .
When you think about patience , a lot of it is just out the window today .
Patience can save lives and even though this parent was released and that's great , we're glad Barber got out think about the embarrassment of the child Because now , even though your mom is out to your peers , to other persons at the school , to staff , you have a crazy parent , the one that's dangerous .
So we're not gonna deal with you , we may not associate with you . That's one of the things that can happen . But on the other side , you can understand where Barber is coming from . Not saying we're going to draw guns on persons if we can't get chicken in the fried chicken line , but it can make you do things when you feel pressured in life .
You jump to extremes when you feel pressured . Perhaps she's a single mom that had to get to work and people were being rude that day or trying to hold her up , which happens all the time . So when you look at it from that kind of balance , yes , one aspect of course mom is 100% wrong .
But then the other aspect if we can make a way for some reasonableness , then we can be able to see as to how we can better ourselves and help someone else . And obviously they may have felt it was the latter part because she was released on a written promise .
So clearly the officers used some decent judgment and she was able to get back on her way and I thought that was really cool , because sometimes it does not go down the way we intended to . In another school district , in another area , they are dealing with something quite gassy , if you will . 15 people evaluated to take into hospital .
After gas odor at school in Raleigh , massachusetts . More than a dozen students and faculty were evacuated and two people were taken to a local hospital Tuesday morning after an odor was reported at an Essex County Elementary School . At about 10 am crews were called to Pine Grove Elementary School in Raleigh for a possible gas leak .
According to police , the odor was reported in the school's music room . Now Raleigh Fire Chief Mark Emory said 15 people 12 students and three faculty members were evaluated . One student , one faculty member were taken to a local hospital for further evaluation out of abundance of caution . I can really appreciate being cautious , because some places don't care .
Some schools would just slap a band-aid on your wrist , tell you to walk it off , drink some water and you'd be just fine . But in this case we see that that's not what happened . Triton Regional School Superintendent Brian L Forget said the building was evacuated and families were notified .
And it's interesting here I just want to call out the name this is Forget , brian L Forget . I've never heard the last name like that before . Rock on Brian . Students and staff were evacuated per our protocols and police and fire are on scene assessing now with national grid , for Forget said in a statement .
The students were evacuated to St Mary Church across the street per protocol . At about 11 30 am , students and faculty were allowed to go back inside and the school day resumed . Officials said Now the interesting thing about this they go on to mention in connection with this odor here which is , I mean , I'm not sure where it came from .
I guess it meant the chemistry lab . But it says here the source of the odor is still being investigated , but officials said it was tracked to a rooftop HVAC unit . So , again , my guess was wrong there . I mean , that would make more sense than the HVAC unit , I mean .
Well then , I guess it depends all really depending on the school system and who did the units and how it's set up . But when you hear odors , generally you think of a chemical outburst in the lab or something like that sign in the science wing of the school .
So they're still investigating , but we're glad that no one was hurt and that this didn't cause any allergic reactions or any irrational rashes or anything of that nature to persons . Because now you have another issue in your hands . This next story here I so it does send chills down your spine . I know that Halloween is coming up .
A lot of people participate in activities , they go trick or treating , et cetera . What I'm gonna encourage you to do , though , is just be alert . If you're going to be out in certain areas and certain environments , you want to be alert , and the reason why you want to be alert is because you never know just how things can shift so quickly .
Something good can be turned into something bad really fast . You can just be hanging out with your friends , not even Halloween , but just hanging out with your friends after school . I see a lot of students , a lot of students don't go home after school and when I was growing up , my mom was like you need to be home X , y , z , this , that and the third .
And I'm like , why , like , why can't I hang out ? I'm grown , as it were , I'm 15 . But this article helps me understand as to why my mom had such strict , or what I'd say methods in place so that I wouldn't find myself being caught up . Missing Atlanta Middle School student found teen wanted for kidnapping .
Here's our original story An Amber Alert has been issued for a missing Atlanta Public School student . Atlanta Public School said David T Howard Middle School student Adijah Cassanti , little 13 , was last seen at the American Deli restaurant on Camp Creek Parkway .
Little reportedly left David T Howard Middle School around 1 pm and got into a BlackFord Explorer with the Georgia license plate RVL 5658 . Aps said Little is wearing black pants of black , hoodie with a white symbol on the front and black and white sneakers . She also has a pink purse . Her hair is reportedly in braids with pink highlight .
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children said Little is five feet five inches tall and weighs around 100 pounds . The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children believes Little was abducted by 16-year-old Emmanuel Paul Williams just before 1.30 pm . Emmanuel Paul Williams Williams is believed to be wearing a black shirt with black pants .
He is black with a small black afro and brown eyes . The NCMEC believes Little is in extreme danger . They invited anyone to contact them at the number 404802-2000 . Well , we're happy to report that she has been found . Miss Little is back in the arms of her caring family .
¶ Teenage Abductions and Pedestrian Accidents
After a missing Atlanta public school student was found , felony arrest warrants have been issued for a teenager . According to the school system , david T Howard Middle School student Cassanti Little was reported missing on Wednesday in an Amber Alert .
She was dropped off in a neighborhood near Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway in Northwest Atlanta and a person who saw her on the news called 911, . The school system said Little has since been reunited with her family . I'm not sure as to what the extent was of her knowing this individual . I'm not sure as to who he was or what their relationship was .
The article doesn't specify that . But we do know that at some point things changed for her . She may have gotten into this vehicle willingly , wanted to get out , and then things transpired To young people , to even older people . Parents be aware of where your children are at all times . There is an urgent need for us to be more aware .
There's no such thing as I'm from the suburbs . I live in a great area . I live in a nice neighborhood . There's no such thing as a nice neighborhood anymore . And the sooner people identify and come to terms with that reality , then the wiser decision-making process can begin .
Because if you constantly live your life thinking that nothing's gonna happen to you or that's just a freak accident , as it were , or that's a one in a million thing , you're gonna get caught up . You're going to get caught up in these circumstances .
Now we're not saying that that was the idea for Miss Little , but we can say that she probably did not think that she would be hemmed up by someone that is of this age . And so now you see the need for caution . It's good to know where your kids are .
It's nice to be able to track their devices every once in a while , ping that location , use technology to lessen the damage that can be brought to families , because at that time when that Amber Alert is made , then it's far , far too late .
Well , we're glad that she is back with her family and that she appears to be unharmed , which is indeed a wonderful thing . In this next story we deal with again traffic driving . I'm not going to say this was a matter of road rage , but be careful . I see a lot of persons , even grown adults , when they cross the street . No one looks both ways .
Just turn your head every once in a while to see what's going on on that local street , because in that instance someone could do something like this 14 year old student from Eaton Middle School in Hampton hit by a pickup truck after dismissal .
A 14 year old girl from Thomas Eaton Middle School was hit by a pickup truck on Wednesday shortly after school was released for the day . Both the Hampton Police Division and city school officials confirmed Around 357 , dispatchers got a call regarding the crash in the 2100 block of Cunningham Drive , which is near the school .
The student was brought to the hospital and is expected to survive . According to police , eaton Middle School sent out a statement to families regarding the incident . It reads in part this is a conclusion part . As always , safety is our top priority and we thank you for your continuous support for Eaton and our student .
A preliminary investigation by police revealed that the girl was not crossing at a designated crosswalk . Now , the driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene after the crash .
Now , I will say that not the fact that she got hit by the vehicle one that she's expected to survive and make a speedy recovery but two the driver remained with her , and that's rare today . I was in New York the other day .
I was going to see a Broadway musical Crossing the Street , and if you live on this side of the United States , if not , if you ever been to New York , you may have seen it in the movies . But New York is no joke . I will say New York is literally off the hook . Okay , and I've seen the hook , it's definitely off of it .
And we're walking across the street and all of a sudden , I hear this loud bam , like this smack . Well , come to find out it was a taxi that hit a woman and the woman used both her hands to slam against the hood of the car , trying to stop it in his tracks . So I say that to say that people don't care anymore .
A lot of people have hit someone and just flee the scene as if they didn't hit a human being . That's almost life you're trifling with , and so it's really nice and remarkable that this person who hit this young student was able to have compassion .
They demonstrated a measure of compassion and they were able to stay with her to make sure she was okay , and that's heartwarming in itself .
Those are the things that really make you feel good inside and it gives you hope that , even though this world is pretty messed up and jacked up , that there are some people out there who really want to do better , who really genuinely care , and then that makes you as an individual , want to be a better person each and every day .
Now , in the follow up story here we're talking now about student crime . We're going down to San Antonio , texas .
¶ Juvenile Hospitalized, Suspects in Custody
A juvenile hospitalized , suspects in custody after shooting near Woodlake Hills Middle School . One juvenile is hospitalized after he was shot near Woodlake Hills Middle School . Police were dispatched to Sunset Terrace near Woodlake Hills Middle School at around 1.54 PM for reports of a car crash and a shooting .
According to police , a juvenile was walking in the street when two other juveniles pulled up in a jeep and started shooting at the young man . After he was shot , he tried to run home but collapsed . He was transported to SAMMC by EMS in critical conditions . The suspects in the jeep crashed and were forced to walk on foot .
One of the suspects had to drag the other kid because he was injured . A good Samaritan saw the juveniles and dropped them off at a local urgent care . Both suspects are now in custody . Police were able to retrieve a firearm . Woodlake Hills Middle School was on lockdown until both suspects were in custody . This is an ongoing investigation .
Once again we see here how the good Samaritan takes the case . If that good Samaritan didn't genuinely want to help out these two , they probably would have never gotten caught . It's interesting . The fact that these juveniles were brought into this urgent care led to them being arrested and a little bit of peace at Woodlake Hills Middle School .
I know when I was in high school one of the things I would see often is a lot of fighting between two different gangs . They wouldn't really have any care or caution as to where the fight led . One time I saw someone pistol with a chain . Another person jumped on top of someone's car . Even in school they were just brawling out in the cafeteria .
It was crazy . It's just interesting that , by means of someone trying to do something good . Some measure of peace was the result of that . That's where I tried to catch you guys at , because you never really know what you're doing good can do for someone else . You never know what you're trying or your ability to be a better person can do for someone else .
That's really why I come on this podcast . Someone asked me they mentioned when I first came on oh , your reading is terrible . You suck . Of course it happens to the best of us . You're talking into a camera , talking to thousands , and your videos are circulating . You don't know what's going to happen . But that wasn't the motive .
It wasn't about being YouTube famous . It's not about trying to be a celebrity . It's not about those things . There are real life things that happen every day and people don't talk about it . Why they don't talk about it , I'm not sure . Perhaps some people feel as though others don't care , so why voice it ? Some people lack courage to speak about things .
Other people feel as though they're dealing with it by themselves . Whatever the case , this podcast was designed to address those things . This podcast was created so that you guys can know that everything that you're going through in school is seen , even down to the area of the podcast , where I do . On my YouTube page , I'll do movie reviews .
Why did I start that ? A lot of people read movies based on bi-ism . I'm like , okay , that's one way to do it , but in order to get an accurate movie rating , it has to be based on something unbiased .
The movie is good not simply because I said it was good , but because it checks off the boxes of what is constituted as a good film based on the standard set for filmmakers .
So if you go to a movie as a YouTuber or movie reviewer and you say I like that movie or I didn't like that movie I like that movie because there was a lot of action in it , or I didn't like that movie because there wasn't enough action in it that's a biased statement .
The movie's being good is not contingent on you feelings though it had enough action or not enough action but rather it's based on a scale set by the standards of histories of movies over time . So when you look at it from that perspective , it brings to like a different elevation of thinking and reasoning , and that's why this podcast is here .
So when I hear these stories , they are tragic . They are tragic , but one there's always a way to deal with it . Two , you can always rely on someone . And three , we got your back on this podcast . You guys are not alone .
In connection with what you're dealing with and it's going to be evident in connection with this next story Sunrise Middle School student hit by car faces long road to recovery as family faces eviction . Sunrise , florida .
Rochelle Evans said it has been a challenging time for her and her loved ones after her daughter , melanie Basil , was hit while walking home from school . We are a family . It's life . Things happen , said Evans , and when those things do happen , sometimes it is all at once .
Now Basil , seen on cell phone video dancing merrily last year , is currently confined to the sofa , six days after a car slammed into her as she tried to cross Pine Island Road . It was early evening and a friend was visiting their apartment . She's like you know what are you cooking ? It smells like my favorite , said Evans . I said yeah , it's curry chicken .
And she's like okay . So I say well , it's getting ready to rain , so make sure your friend gets home safely . Just walk her down the street . Moment later , evans said she hears the sirens . Her friend came screaming and crying and said that she was hit by a car . The driver , basil's mother said call 911 . Whoever you are , thank you for staying .
Thank you , said Evans . Her daughter suffered a concussion and broken bones . And then I woke up in the hospital , said Basil , I do remember hearing some screaming and crying and I heard my mom , but that's it . Fortunately , the seventh graders prognosis is good , but her mother , a restaurant cook , now has to stay at home to care for her .
At least for now I have to shower her , feed her , dress her , said Evans . And the day this happened the family received an eviction notice . The same day everything crumples in one day . They knew they were going to leave soon , so the packing has begun . It's really high here . It's really high . I work hard to the Evans . You can work hard .
That doesn't mean you can make ends meet , but now she and her two sons are focused on Basil's recovering and making the best of it . The driver who remained at the scene is currently not facing any criminal charges or citations and connections to the crash . The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with Basil's medical expenses .
If you would like to make a donation , you can be able to inquire about this story . Wow , some stories . They take me a few minutes to process this particular story , though there's a lot of dynamic here .
One of the things that I can understand mom is talking about ends meet today , when , even when it comes to our jobs , things are so corrupt Because they'll tell you in one aspect oh , you come to us , you get this amount of money , you get 401K , you get your pension and your benefits and all that stuff , everything is all in the bag .
You go there , they want you to work 24-7 and you say to yourself at what point do I have the time to take care of my basic necessities ? When can I shower on a schedule like that ? When can I eat on a schedule like that , perhaps even do laundry if I'm feeling loose and energetic ? You have that kind of mentality out there .
Then you have the other jobs , in which you don't sell your soul to the company but they're not paying you . So I can understand where mom's coming from in connection with trying to make ends meets , because ends meet it's not easy . It's not easy . The rent continues escalate , especially here in New Jersey . Man , like the rent is ridiculous .
I ran into a two-bedroom , one bath the other day . I said , oh , this is a nice little place . Let me take the number down . Call it to bedroom one bath . Call up the number . No one responds , no problem , they text my wife back . Oh wonderful , yes , it's two bedroom , one bath . It's $2,500 . Have you lost your reasoning ?
$2,500 for a two bedroom and one bath . That's New Jersey . That's New Jersey mathematics . And so this is Florida , and mom is still talking about the economy and the cost of living down there . It's not guys , it's not easy . Man , if you are a young person , hang in there like , stay close to your mom and dad's a house .
Try to live in there as long as possible , because once you get out , you will see just how expensive Things are . For no apparent reason , it doesn't cost or take that much money to keep a house running . And here's a kicker . That was a two bedroom , one bath , but there are four Apartments in this one house .
So that means that the owners of the home , on a monthly basis , are gonna be taking in 10 grand . What are you doing with 10 grand ? I know that they redid the house and everything like that . That's fine . They're probably trying to get money back , but Realistically , no one is gonna have those kind of funds .
And then the fact that your daughter was hit , the person , that who remained at the scene of the crime is not getting any criminal charges , etc . Which that's a whole , entirely different discussion . And now what ? What happens to you ? It leaves you between a rock in a hard place . Are they gonna sue this person ?
Are they gonna be able to get compensation for the , the challenges that they're going through now as a family ? Hopefully their gold fund me page is continuing to grow and Again , we're sorry about what happened to you guys down there in Florida . It's not easy , but we know , little by little , things do get better . Keep your head up .
I try your best to continue to be a good person . Things work out . Things do work out . One of the things that I've noticed is Is when you try to cut corners in life and try to do things in a shady way , you get those kind of results . You get those kind of results .
But when you try to do things the right way and you try to look out for people and you try to show people that you care About them and you try to show people that you're concerned , then things they find themselves working out . They find themselves working out .
So this next story Speaking of , which expresses how things don't work out when you do things that are shady .
¶ Middle School Teacher Arrested for Child Porn
Former Orange County middle school teacher arrested on child porn charges . This is Orange County , florida . I now . Former Orange County middle school teacher , was arrested this week on charges of possessing child pornography . Just got a pause for a minute .
Florida Department of law enforcement agents said on July 9th Ryan Hamel , 22 , admitted to a US Customs and Border Protection Officer while he was getting off a cruise in Miami that he purchased child sex abuse material on the dark web .
Investigators said Hamel also told the officer he took inappropriate photos of children on the cruise and similar photos of children in his care at the YMCA family center in Wintergarden .
Here's the gripping part Hamel was a teacher at Water Spring Middle School in Wintergarden up until August the 25th , when Orange County Public School officials said they learned about the law enforcement investigation . District officials said he has not been on campus since then .
That's fine that he's off the campus , but the emotional damage and trust done to the students not not fine at all . The YMCA all the YMCA also said the Hamel was fired from his part-time job there in August after they learned of the investigation . When interviewed , investigators said Hamel denied taking any photos of children at the middle school .
When investigators searched Hamel's phone , they said they found two images of child pornography . Hamel was arrested Friday on two charges of possessing materials depicting the sexual performance of a child . This story is continuing and it's updating an investigation and , for the parents who know this person as an educator , extremely sorry .
For the students who have come in contact with the teacher , extremely sorry At this point . It's one of those things where , even though you weren't involved , you are around this and it's not . It's not good . It's not good . It's not a healthy environment , and the sad part is it's happening more and more and more .
So how can you be able to help your children as parents ? How can you guys cope when you hear stories like this ? Well , there's two things that you can do . For one , you can protect yourself . That's the first thing you can do as a parent .
Protect yourself , make sure that you , you , you , you , you scheduled time to desensitize , don't be so warped in to these matters that it starts to affect your person , your joy , your stability , and to Protect your child . That's the two things you can do protect yourself , protect your child , educate yourself .
Don't be overly cautious , because the child can start to feel like you're Smothering them and then they can draw away from you . But at the same time , have caution to protect your child . Educate them along with Yourself . Look for signs , warnings that a teacher might be involved in a certain lifestyle .
Being aware and expressing that to a child can go so much further Than not being aware .
And it's not easy for parents today , because now you're dealing with the economy , economic pressure , you're dealing with trying to find stable work , you're dealing with just trying to keep up with the basic routine of life , and then these things suddenly happen , come undercover and now it's a matter of being too late .
We're sorry that this transpired at this low , this middle school , but we know that one thing about humans they're resilient , and trials like this , circumstances like this , can be a learning experience , especially for the school . I don't know what the hiring process is like .
It's not , as it's not one of those things where you can really prevent this from happening . You know , even if you do a background check and the person is clean and they check all the boxes , you still can't really determine who's going to change their mind and act on insidious desires as time progresses .
So you continue to protect yourself , protect yourself , protect your child and for you students out there tuning into this podcast Guys , make sure you're careful . Make sure you're careful . Avoid being alone in certain circumstances or settings with your teacher , especially if you're a young female and he's a male teacher . Try to have a friend with you at all times .
Try to have someone there with you to protect yourself . If you feel like the teacher is saying things that are uncomfortable , tell someone right away . Don't linger in that . Don't give chance for the , the aid of memory loss , to come in and sweep things under the rug . Then it'll be a matter of offer God .
I don't remember exactly what he said or did , but make sure you're taking steps to protect yourself as well . Here's another circumstance that developed and as a school bus driver , I can't say I can say I can relate to how this driver may feel , but I know some people are going to be like why is this person still driving at this particular age ?
It finds us here in Manila , florida , a teenager was killed early morning after a crash involving a school bus . According to authorities , nbc affiliate W ESH reported that a 78-year-old driver near Lake Minyola High School struck the 17-year-old . Video taken by WESH showed the crash through a fence . The bus crashed through a fence .
The teenager's bicycle was also seen next to the vehicle . The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver remained at the scene and was uninjured . The teenager was hospitalized at Southlake Hospital where he died . According to troopers , families involved in this circumstance hear the teen is unidentified , but we want to express our heartfelt and sincere condolences to you all .
This unforeseen occurrence has led to tragedy and it's very difficult and unfortunate . Some people are going to want to know why they haven't made restrictions or limits on bus drivers at the age of perhaps the retirement age . This person was 78 years old and so , rightly , one is going to question whether that led to the accident , this bus driver being unaware .
There's no further updates in connection with this story , but again to the families of this victim we want to extend our condolences . We are truly sorry for your loss . Very , very , very difficult circumstance to find yourself in Now . There was a popular movie that a friend of mine made mention of a couple of weeks ago Edward Scissor's Hand .
I'm not a fan of it , even just by the poster work it was kind of creepy , but the thought of the movie was humorous right , a man with scissors for hands . When I heard this next story came to my desk , I thought of just that film . 15 year old charged in Berkeley High School Scissor attack . This is
¶ Violence and Safety Incidents in Schools
Monks Corner . South Carolina Police have confirmed a juvenile student is facing a criminal charge after an attack that injured a Berkeley High School teacher Friday afternoon . Again just highlighting why teachers may not want to stay in this field of profession or why people are not eager or dying to be teachers anymore .
The 15 year old , whose name has not been released because of their age , is charged with first degree assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature . According to Captain Lee Mixon , police responded Friday afternoon to a report that a student attacked a classmate with a pair of scissors at the school .
Mixon said the teacher suffered minor injuries while trying to break up the fight . Mixon said a student was in custody Friday afternoon after the incident . There is a lot of aggression on young people today .
If someone could just be able to highlight to me as to why the aggression is really would appreciate that the teacher was literally trying to do her job , because if you don't break up the fight , you get fired , you get written up . When I first started this podcast I said if I was a teacher in that circumstance .
These kids wanted to fight and hurt themselves . Let them , because at this point you're putting your life in danger and someone commented how disgusting and disgraceful , etc . Etc . You don't know what you're talking about . That's a foolish mentality . But the bottom line is these kids are out to hurt someone . In some cases they're out for blood .
So at what point do you say I have to protect myself before the student ? That is just where we are in the stream of times , the way we live now , in 2023 , certain things we can't do or say the way we would in 2005 , 2010 , 2015, .
Things are rapidly changing and that's what people are going to have to be able to understand , even in dealing with the educational system . Today . Our follow up story man killed , young boys shot outside North Carolina High School football game . Police say Greensboro , north Carolina .
A man died and a child was injured in a shooting outside a high school football game in North Carolina , according to police . Greensboro police said the shooting happened Friday in the stadium parking lot outside the Dudley High School football game . Two victims were found and taken to the hospital . Matthew Wayne Grant , 59 , died at the hospital .
Police said Very , very tragic and again our heartfelt condolences to the family . They said they had not been able to find Grant's family . Police said a young boy was treated and released from the hospital . His name and age were not released . Two pedestrians were also hit by the vehicle . The suspected shooter was in , police said .
They said both of these victims were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries . No arrest have been made and no suspects have been named . I just find it interesting that you go to these events . You try to have somewhat a little bit of fun , one should say . And then this is what happens .
Some people were framed from traveling or going or hanging out . I know my grandmother . She was big on that . If it wasn't the supermarket she wasn't trying to go . She would even say that in restaurants she didn't want to sit with her back to the door because of a shooter comes in .
She wants to be on the other side of the table so that she can be able to see the person . That was grandma's logic . Love grandmother , death and wish she was still here to be able to help me to see as to what her logic was in certain matters . Maybe there was some wisdom involved in this . I don't know . Never got the chance to ask her .
However , people take that same approach today Because of stories like this . It makes one eerie , it makes one feel uneasy about going to these events . This is why , if you have a parent who really cares and is trying to be proactive , and they set limits on where you go , who you see , what you do when you do it .
This is why , because stories like this are becoming more and more prevalent and they're trying to protect you because ultimately , ultimately , they love you and they don't want to see you get hurt . The follow-up story brings us into New Jersey . This is my home state , always interested as to what's going on in the New Jersey educational system .
Nine sent to hospital after chemical exposure at Glen Rock High School . That's why I thought the other school had a chemical reaction . Because of this story , eight adults and a student were taken to hospitals after exposure to a chemical at Glen Rock High School on Monday , forcing the early dismissal of classes for the day .
At about 8.30 am , police and EMS personnel were dispatched to the nurse's office at the school on a reported medical emergency for a student exposed to a chemical brought from home After suffering a medical reaction . A student was taken to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus for treatment .
Five school staff members , a police officer and two EMTs from the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps who provided aid to the student were also exposed to the chemical . The eight were taken to the Valley Hospital or Hackentuck University Medical Center to be medically cleared . Investigation found that a student had brought the hazardous substance to school from home .
Hazmat technicians identified the substance as thallium , a metal used historically as a rodenticide and readily available on the internet . According to a press released by the local police , none of the eight exposed showed signs of an adverse reaction .
After determining that no other student or staff member was exposed , the school district dismissed the middle and high school at noon . A follow-up investigation by a Glen Rock detective working in cooperation with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office determined that the student had no intention of harming anyone at the school , nor any criminal intent .
The press release said A decontamination service responded to clean the affected area and cleared the school by 2 pm . The student , who was undergoing treatment at the hospital , is no longer in medical distress and is being further evaluated .
That is an interesting story because they're making mention here that the student did not have ill will in connection with bringing this chemical to school . I thought that was interesting . I'm glad that that wasn't the case .
I'm glad that everyone is alright and that they were able to clear this up quickly , but it's very interesting when they reason out what the intentions were . So there must have been something quite persuasive in connection with this event that led them to believe that the student had no one's harm or intentions at heart .
Here's our follow-up story Charges filed against three students at Hempfield area high school after two gun buys on campus . We're going to the Hempfield township of Pennsylvania . Three students at Hempfield area high school are facing charges after two gun buys happened on campus Monday .
According to state police , all of the students charged are 15 year old boys and I'm now just starting to see a pattern here the ages of 14 through 17, . The crime rate is starting to accelerate in connection with young persons today . The state police made this announcement on Tuesday evening .
All of the students are charged with firearms not to be carried without a license , receiving stolen property and causing or risking catastrophe . These are all felony offenses . The three students are charged as juveniles . State police said several students came forward on Monday and reported observing transactions between students involving guns .
Initial interviews with witnesses revealed that one of the students brought two loaded handguns to school . He gave one gun to another teen on the school bus . The same student then met another student in the school's bathroom and gave him the second gun .
What we believe is these students were in contact yesterday and possibly other times as well that will be under investigation and they chose to use the school as a place to exchange these firearms . This is trooper Cliff Greenfield with state police statement . Nothing further on this story . But wow , I , to be a student at this day in age , it is something wild .
Like before you would do things undercover . Oh , I'm not going to get caught by the principal , I'm going to hide from the principal . Oh , I don't want to get that beating from my mom or dad , that spanking as a way , that grounding . But now it's as if students are running to the battle .
They don't care , they don't have any remorse and they're going to do whatever they want . And it seems as though no one's going to be able to stop them , because there's only so much policing that you can be able to do in connection with these events . And then , when you don't have students acting up , you have teachers doing things like this here .
Prince William County middle school teacher charged for allegedly restraining student by the neck . A middle school teacher in Prince William County , virginia , is facing an assault charge for allegedly restraining a student by the neck . Police say it happened last week in the school cafeteria at Beville Middle School .
Teresa White was charged last Thursday with one count of misdemeanor assault . Police say White had an interaction with a sixth grader in the lunchroom and restrained him holding him by the neck . However , they said the child , an 11 year old boy , was not choked . The teacher put their hands on his neck . They separated shortly thereafter .
Prince William County master police officer Rebecca Carr said student went to the office to report what had happened . A school resource officer went to handle the case . Child protective services were also contacted and worked with police on the investigation .
Beville parents were notified of the arrest Monday and a letter from the principal who wrote I am both shocked and disappointed by this allegation . This is not reflective of our outstanding school and our hardworking staff who are committed to our students and community .
Officials with Prince William public schools say White began working at Beville Middle School in August 2021 , teaching students with learning disabilities . White declined to comment on the charge because school officials told her not to speak about what happened .
¶ Teacher Assault and Student Gun Incidents
A former student of White said she was surprised to hear about the alleged assault . She was nice . The former student said I just honestly don't know , because I don't think she would actually hurt someone because she never put her hands on anyone . So she was nice . At least in my experience she was nice .
Stephanie Olsen , a Beville parent , said she wonders if the child did something to provoke the teacher's reaction . She said she's holding off on her assessment until it's decided in court . In the end it's all up to the judge . Olsen said you know , sure foul charges . They could get dropped , could get dismissed . Please , your case in court .
Police would not comment on whether the student misbehaved before he was allegedly grabbed by the teacher . School district officials say White is on administrative leave pending the outcome . After her arrest Thursday she was released on her own , recognizant . Now this is the interesting thing , right ?
Why did we not comment on the fact that the student may have done something to the teacher ? Because let me tell you , today students can be just as wild . We covered several stories in which students are wild .
No , it's not right to put your hands on a child , but it's unfortunate that in this case , even if the student did something , she's automatically going to be in the wrong , and that's the sad part about it for me , that it's just one of those things where you don't really win in the matter .
Especially in the school district , school industry , it's like you're required to deal with certain things in a calm manner , even though that's just not your disposition as a human being . Here's another story that follows that tragic outcome of just teachers and just certain things that can be done .
A Popka High School teacher charged in sexual incident with teenage boy after giving him edibles . An Popka High School science teacher was arrested Tuesday , accused of performing sexual acts with a teenage boy after giving him candy and fused with marijuana .
The investigation began Tuesday when Mount Dora police say they were contacted by special agents from the federal Bureau of Investigation regarding allegations against Dimitri Conte , the Union's 50 Mount Dora . One of the agents told police there was a report of sexual incident that had occurred at Constanunia's home .
According to a report , detectives met with the victim , who described an incident that took place approximately three weeks earlier . One evening at Constanunia's home .
The victim said they watched a movie about Elton John and how he became gay , then had some chocolate that the victim described as having a weird taste and coming in a package with a warning printed on it . The victim told investigators that after eating the chocolate he became confused and his head was all twisted .
The report says after eating the chocolate and drinking some wine , constanunia's acts the victim if he wanted a massage . When the victim rejected the offer , the report says Constanunia gave him more chocolate , causing him to become more confused and under the influence .
After declining multiple offers for a massage , the report says the victim told investigators Constanunia eventually performed sexual acts on him . I can't fathom what it's like for parents to know that their children have been in these situations with persons who are supposed to have their best interests at heart .
Very tragic and we are so sorry to all of the students down there in Florida who know Unu Mr Constanunia as a teacher and administrator who succumbed to these kinds of things . In an interview with police , constanunia admitted to providing the boy with wine , beer and chocolate edibles .
He also admitted to making a mistake and tried to claim he blacked out on his sofa but was aware that a sexual encounter had taken place when he awoke . When asked why he didn't report the incident to law enforcement . The report says Constanunia said he felt scared and embarrassed .
Constanunia was booked into the Lake County Jail Tuesday on charges of sexual battery on a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor . He remains there on no bond . Parents at Apopka High School received a statement from Orange County Public Schools acknowledging the allegations of inappropriate conduct by a school employee .
The statement goes on to say the employee was placed on administrative leave and will remain on leave and off campus through the investigation . A very tragic story that developed down there in Apopka High School in Florida .
We know that you can protect yourselves by educating yourselves and in these circumstances you start to wonder why the student was at the teacher's house to begin with .
I know there are certain cultures and things in connection with Southern hospitality , but we are in a brand new day and sometimes it's best to leave certain things alone or to be able to just have more supervision involved in these scenarios to prevent further injury or damage .
Next story two students in custody after guns found at West Mesa High School , albuquerque , new Mexico . Two students have been arrested for having guns on campus at West Mesa High School and I could be Mesa High School .
According to West Mesa's website , the school went into a brief shelter in place on Thursday morning , october 5th , due to reported threats on campus . However , in a press conference , aps Executive Director of Communications , monica Armentes , said at no time today was there any threat made to anyone .
Albuquerque Public Schools or the APS says police responded to the school , investigated the situation and found two weapons on campus . Police arrested two male students , one of whom is 17 years old and the other is 18 years old . Armentes said this is the fifth weapon that has been confiscated from APS High School this school year alone .
Now , mind you , the school year just started , so this is again the fifth weapon that they've confiscated in just a little over two months .
Two weapons were confiscated from Atrisco Heritage Academy High School on Friday September 8th , one was confiscated from a student's backpack on Thursday September 28th at Mazzano High School and two were confiscated from students at West Mesa High School on Thursday October 5th .
Aps officials were made aware of the West Mesa High Weapons when a mother reported that her gun was missing and was concerned that her middle school child , who attends Tres Volcano's community collaborative K-3A school , may have had it .
In that search it was discovered that the middle school child did not have the gun , but the name of a West Mesa student surfaced , eventually leading to the arrest of the two West Mesa students who each had a gun on campus .
¶ Controversial Topics in Education and Society
Now this whole gun thing it seems like there are more and more students getting involved with gun violence day after day . So , as parents now , and even students yourself , being aware is important Making sure of where your book bag is at all times , making sure that you have an emergency evac plan in school to get out of these situations .
Don't go to school with a mentality that it can't be you , it could be anybody . In this school district alone is dealing with some heavy gun presence and it's not easy . Aps does not know the origins of the guns at this time . The guns have been sent to APD to determine that . So they're not even sure as to where these guns are coming from .
All they know is that they just keep popping up from a series of places . We hope that they're able to rectify this so that no one else is hurt or injured or could be hurt or injured in connection with this gun violence . Now , this story this is a hot story , this trending , and I don't .
I understand where the teachers coming from , but I know a lot of people are going to have their own takes on this story , where the case is . Missouri High School teacher put on leave after district officials discover her only fans account .
A Missouri High School English teacher was placed on leave after district officials discovered she was performing pornography on the website only fans to supplement her income . Breonna Copitch , 28 , taught at St Clair High School in Franklin County about 55 miles southwest of St Louis .
She told the St Louis Post Dispatch last month that she understood the risk involved with the account . I'm very aware that I am probably never going to teach again , she said in an interview with the Post Dispatch . I am sad about that . I do miss my student .
Copitch was in her second year of teaching at St Clair , said she was put on leave Wednesday and her access to email and other school software was revoked . As the district investigates , superintended Kyle Kruse said in a statement that the district was made aware that an employee may have posted inappropriate media on one or more internet sites .
Kruse said legal counsel would investigate and take action . According to board police , there is this expectation that teachers should be the moral leaders of students and I do not disagree with that Copitch said I taught the curriculum . I taught students reading and writing , and I didn't guide them on my thoughts or beliefs . So why did she do it ?
It says she joined OnlyFans during the summer to supplement her teaching salary . It was about $42,000 a year , whereas on OnlyFans this woman has made $8,000 to $10,000 a month performing on this website . She decided to join the website because of a subscription only business model , which she thought would help protect her identity .
Copitch said she doesn't know how the district found her account and she said that no inappropriate content was filmed on school grounds . So I'm going to be able to fill in the blanks for you guys , because now everyone is talking about nationally how much teachers make .
The starting salary for a teacher is less than $42,000 , while teachers of all levels of experience make about $61,000 . That's not much money .
Now , what this woman decided to do in connection with what she needed to or felt she needed to do in protecting her family , that's her business , that's her right to make a choice as to what is going to be best for her and her family . And so her husband was involved .
He knew about this , and so they had their own agreement , they had their own arrangements in connection with this , and so that was something that I found to be of interest that she wasn't trying to keep a secret from her family , or whatever the case is . However , here's some questions that come up . One how did the district find out about the OnlyFans account ?
Well , one , things are easily tracked through IP address . You can be able to visit web pages that someone's been on or involved in just by going through the IP address . So if you are logging in , maybe she was checking her OnlyFans account on her cell phone through the school's IP address , through their wifi and through their internet .
If that was the case , then that's how they found out If someone else was subscribed to a page in connection with her OnlyFans partnership . She mentioned that she did this OnlyFans thing with other people who were logging into the account .
So her co-workers weren't subscribed to her page , but they were subscribed to the page with someone else whom she was in cooperation with . If that were the case , they may have been able to track her down .
Whatever the matter , she knew that this was going to happen , and it's sad that she had to be driven to this point , because my thing on the matter is everyone has their standards , everyone has their morals . But when you don't pay people enough and you push people and you try to rob them and you take advantage of them , etc .
People are going to be driven to these forms of things . So this woman looks at it like , hey , listen , I'm making good money , this is that blah , blah , etc . And she's being able to take care of her finances . So I know that , again , people have their different opinions in connection with certain things .
But again , going back to the root of the story , the woman was underpaid , she did what she felt as though it was best for the situation , and she was willing to deal with the consequences , and so it's just interesting how people have to try to support their families in themselves today because of the low amount of income coming to the average family today .
A teacher should be making way much more money than that , but again , they're not . And so with the way that things are going , with the strides for teachers today , it's really not looking good . It's really not looking good . Here's a follow up story guys . La Elementary School to celebrate national coming out day with a week of LGBTQ plus lessons .
Los Angeles Elementary Schools with students as young as five will participate in a week long celebration of national coming out day . Starting Monday , the week of action toolkit elementary , sent from the Los Angeles Unified School District's Board of Education , outlined suggested lesson plans for elementary students around LGBTQ plus topics .
The document , which a teacher shared with City Journal , noted teachers can adapt the lesson plans to better suit the needs of their students To . The toolkit includes an identity map activity for students who complete at the start of the week , preparing students to think critically about identity and intersectionality .
Teachers are encouraged to have students create an image representing their identity . That includes features like their race , ethnicity , gender identity , religion , sexuality and mental health . The toolkit suggests students engage in a gallery walk of everyone's identity map and respond to writing prompts like who am I ? What did I learn about my identity ?
What were some of your identities that were the same or different from your classmates ? Teachers are also told to share images of students mapped with the district . Now parents are in an uproar . The Los Angeles Unified School District declined to make any comment and connection with these plans that they have .
Many of these parents are aferious and the reason they're upset is because they feel as though it's their right to educate their children . Activists arrested outside LAUSD offices after parental rights and LGBTQ plus groups clash in downtown LA . And it's interesting here .
Shouts of leave our kids alone filled downtown Los Angeles streets Tuesday as approximately 200 protesters supporting parental rights and education measures , including the right to be informed about their child's gender selection . Police set up skirmish lines to keep demonstrators from clashing with pro LGBTQ plus activists outside LAUSD's offices , according to Fox 11 .
But police eventually declared the assembly unlawful after some parental rights demonstrators allegedly attempted to push counter protesters back . Three were arrested , according to the report . And so now parents are finding themselves smothered , pushed to the side , backs against the wall , because they're inculcating these things in the school district .
And so it's just interesting how , at one point , parents felt or had the need or believed that they could be able to educate their children a certain way , etc . But now the school district is coming in and saying we have another idea as to how we're going to educate your students . We'll continue to see as to how things develop regarding these matters .
Some parents have resorted to homeschooling their kids now because they feel as though their kids are getting another type of education that they're not comfortable with , so they resorted to other methods of training their kids .
So it's just very interesting how just one decision , one choice can just set off another series of things in connection with the school system , board of Education and the Department of Education . Here's our final story Parent Physically Assaulted Pine Grove Middle School Student . A parent assaulted a Baltimore County middle school student Thursday morning .
Baltimore County police said the parent was an authorized visitor to Pine Grove Middle School who got into a verbal fight with a student , physically taking their cell phone and assaulting them in the process . Principal DeBora Magnus sent a letter to parents and guardians informing them that a parent physically assaulted a student in a hallway outside the office .
The letter states that a school staff member , the school's county police , school resource officer , de-escalated the incident and the student was taken to the nurse for evaluation . We are deeply disappointed by this parent's behavior , magnus wrote in her letter .
¶ Safety Concerns and Investigation at School
It is important to note that our focus is on providing a safe and orderly environment that is conducive to learning . Excuse me , that name was Debra . Any type of threat to a student or staff member is taken seriously and will not be tolerated .
Disturbing activities at school and threatening students or staff members is prohibited by Maryland law and subjects violated to a fine and or imprisonment . The principal said several students witnessed the assault . The school's counselor is also available to speak with students who may need support processing the incident .
Some parent is shocked the incident got as far as it did . It concerns me very much the fact that a parent can even enter the school and assault one of our students . The parent said County police and the school district's office of school safety are still investigating . Some families have mentioned things on Twitter and that is kind of heinous .
Parent goes in to visit a local middle school to check on their child and they get into an altercation with the student , grab their cell phone and just assaults them .
