Welcome back. It's another episode of Queen's pitch. I'm Kara
Bridget
0:21
and I'm Bridget, and we're discussing the recent win against Toronto FC at home at the bank. Woo
Bridget
0:31
woo hoo! The fortress. We did
Kara
0:32
it! How did you feel?
Bridget
0:34
I didn't know if we were going to do it, but it was a little stressful that second half getting a go get and take it away. You know I was having a good time. I sat with you and you probably wish I didn't at one point, but I was celebrating and I was yelling. I had a good time on Saturday night. Well, the first I was kind of boring, to be honest, but the second half was much better. But we weren't.
Kara
0:55
But you made predictions about the game. You were on the Charlotte Soccer Show with Danny Abrahams and Jon Hayes, and discussing what you thought about the match up coming, and you projected a 3 to 1 win for Charlotte with goals by Lille, who was the
Bridget
1:13
other one. Enzo and Privett.
Kara
1:16
There we go. Yeah. So and you got some of those right.
Bridget
1:18
I did I have Leo and yeah I think it would have been three one if that one would have been offsides. But instead my favorite person decided that he didn't want to let them have offsides. So he played out of position for that. But we won't go there until later. So I did that. And then I did predict that Enzo would start over Patrick as well. I got kudos for that one. And I also said that Bill would start Bill to Aloma something. I appreciate you being on that show, but I wish she would have done it too. You just didn't want to do it so that you were there to support me.
Kara
1:51
I was there. They only had one mic, so it seems fair. But if you want to go back and listen to that, you can for solid Charlotte soccer show it. Can't talk for a second there. Yeah, it was a really great game. It seemed really wild that we went into halftime with 1 to 0, and then all of those other goals came in the second half, so that was pretty exciting.
Bridget
2:13
The first half was going
Kara
2:14
and this was our rematch against Toronto since we lost the last one.
Bridget
2:19
Man, I can't stand Toronto, man I really can't. I really can't stand Shawn Johnson 1s in your face, buddy. We want it home. And we got three points. We made Shawn Johnson look like flow. And that's really what matters. Actually, I saw Saturday, and I'm probably gonna get this wrong because I'm not a sack person. But I think they said that we had more go like so we had $3 on Shawn Johnson. So this is the same amount that he had had all season to this point.
Kara
2:46
Correct. Against him? Yes.
Bridget
2:48
On him. So we had him a little rattled. We really should have had four because I don't think that one should have got called back. But that again was on Bill. We said basically we schooled Shawn Johnson and that made my day even more so. Oh, he's a good goalie, by the way. I mean, he was on the US team, so I can't I think that's probably a lot of the reason that I don't like him just because I like my boy Maddy better.
Kara
3:13
It's true. On the replay of Lyle's goal against Shawn Johnson where they make the mistake. You just see his face. Oh, and I just. I have
Bridget
3:26
to cackle. He was making a meme out of it. Yeah. It's grace. Yeah. Or the one that Leo did score on him. That was even better. He was just so mad. I loved it. I was excited.
Kara
3:38
That's what I'm saying. Yeah, he was mad about it. He was like, you've got to be kidding me. Uh,
Bridget
3:44
no. Sean invades in your face. Oh, I really liked it. That was one of the highlights of my night. So that. And we ate soft serve ice cream. That always makes the night better.
Kara
3:55
All right. Bridget, so since we. Since we won this game, let's let's get the ugly out of the way so we can just talk about all the wonderful things. Are you gonna. Rath.
Bridget
4:03
Okay, well, my first is going to be Shawn Johnson, because I can't stand. Oh, wait. He's not on our team. So my first wrath is going to be. I didn't want to wrath this guy. Let me just preface this. By this. I started the game, and I was like, I'm not gonna riff. I'm not going to rap this guy. I really want him to earn my favor. But got New City with me. Realize that I did not was not going to happen after about five minutes in the game when I'm yelling, they'll do something. Bill I'm watching you, Bill. So, um, yeah, if you haven't figured it out, my wrath is to build a llama. Um. Or. Dude, you have one chance. You know, like that Eminem song. You got one shot, you know? And I don't feel like he took that one shot, so he messed up. I mean, something like after the Press or Dean Smith said he did a good job. So I guess I'm looking at something totally different than what everybody else is looking at. But I felt like he was off his game. I mean, granted, he's rusty. He was that offsides could have easily he could have definitely fix that. So that would have not been to go and then that would I would my prediction would have been right. And then I don't really think he had a foul against him when that Leos go got called back. But he got counted for it. So I just feel like if I have to rath anybody that's going to be Bill. Good old Bill.
Kara
5:19
Well and I have to play devil's advocate here now. Yeah. Because I did rewatch the match because I wanted to see too. In the moment we're going well, north happened that looked offside. So that's why I have to go back and look at them, because I really need. To take that extra time to figure out what it is going into it. And I was like having it on half speed, pausing every, you know, a little bit just to see the ball move and to see was that offside in Bridget? Bridget. It's not offside.
Bridget
5:53
It is because you
Kara
5:56
know that's what I'm. No but it's it's it's good timing on Toronto. It's it really is. It's extremely
Bridget
6:04
close. I couldn't have held him although
Kara
6:07
it's he's standing right beside Bill. It's the guy's speed. The guy also speed is fast. Yeah. I mean, maybe Bill is supposed to keep tracking him, but Bill thinks it's on. It's offside, so maybe that's why he does it. And really, you just. Maybe it's that the whole back line on on that one especially really needed to keep playing through because it wasn't instead of what you believe it is, keep going. Yeah. Because it was not. It's extremely close, but unfortunately it was too. Has excellent timing.
Bridget
6:44
Oh, mom. Whatever. And then here's the second goal. When I watched that one, you know, for Lille gets a goal called off at the 55th minute. And the reason it's called off is supposedly because the ref says there's a foul by Bill and that he is holding the Toronto player. But listen, listen, listen. This is a this
Kara
7:09
is the wimpy thing I've ever seen in my life, because it looks more like a basketball pick when you block your man. And honestly, that happens all the time in soccer. Like this looks no different from what we do every single game. It doesn't even look like an actual hold. Okay, well,
Bridget
7:26
that's been said. And
Kara
7:28
yeah, Lloyd Sam in the in the commentating says that it's there's not a lot in that. He's surprised this is called off at all. So to me that one is just that's where the mistake is to me. I think Bill gets unfairly blamed for that because I don't really think he does much or wrong. Well,
Bridget
7:44
then I said that Bill didn't really get a good shot last year because he was playing around with his vision and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
Kara
7:51
blah. True. It's true.
Bridget
7:53
And you know, at some point, blah blah blah. I mean, he's a good guy. Maybe he old. Next time he gets that chance, he will shine away. But he did not shine away this time.
Kara
8:07
Poor guy. Yeah. And I mean, I think he had a okay match coming in for Mullen. Does like Melinda has been really great for us. Right. Steady. Top notch. But I mean Bill hasn't had time to play. So you know we if we give it Lindsey and other people who have their first time and they haven't quite gotten that chemistry settling into a backline that's changed a little bit. Like to me, you have to give them a small a small window for them to get up to that match fitness and chemistry with everyone else along with them. Now, luckily, I mean, I don't think I don't think he does poorly enough to warrant me roughing him. But I do hope that, you know, Melinda comes back. I think I think Bill tries to keep it together. To me, the timing, maybe the timing is on the communication along the back, potentially. Because interestingly enough, my wrath is also on the back
Bridget
9:04
line. Oh, Lord, what are you writing? You didn't tell me. That's probably.
Kara
9:11
I like to surprise you. I know she does this to me. She'd be like very wrath and evasion. And I'm like, why didn't you tell me first? And then she's like, I'm not telling you first and then I may. Come on. But who in the world are you going to rant?
Bridget
9:23
Are you wrath and who I'm favoring?
Kara
9:25
No, not a bit. No, of course not. 1s No, I'm. I'm rapping. So I will just point out that I, I favored this man in the last match, and here I might be giving him a rap. Oh yeah. But he's not alone. He's not alone. You know, it's the second Toronto goal to me. There's some sort of miscommunication or mis timing or something for Ronan and Privet. So unfortunately I have to kind of wrap theory in Andrew. Sorry.
Bridget
10:02
You're wrapping my theory.
Kara
10:03
I know, I know, I don't want to.
Bridget
10:06
I do not allow that. That is not allowed. If you're around and hearing and I'm going to wrap everybody rather than all of the all of them, but
Kara
10:16
listen, listen to why. Listen to why. Okay. So what happens in in the moment is something like Prince Owusu is like past all of them, right? He's offside. And then the ball moves around so much in that moment from Bernardeschi to someone on the other wing. Right that Owusu goes back onside. All right. And he's onside because a Bill and Lindsey whom Jerry and Andrew can see they can see where they are. Why are they watching the men behind them. Because
Bridget
10:54
they don't have eyes in the back of their head. And
Kara
10:55
there's two Toronto guys behind them. And they are not keeping eye on them. And all one of them is OSU and there's some other one. And the ball comes across to OSU who knocks it in. And they have they're like five feet from their man and they're not. Dean Smith has like to say that he wants them, especially in defense, to play the ball and not the man. And so either they get caught watching or they aren't on the men they're supposed to be or they're not playing the ball. Either way, something weird happens there that absolutely lets the ball in and to me like, why? If they can see where Bill and Lindsay are right, then you should either be at that line or be filling in gaps. Or be watching for the men that that pass might come to. And none of those happen either. Are they depending on Lindsey and Bill to get the block off to intercept the ball? But still, why don't they know where those men are? Mhm. So you're saying the hero makes mistakes. I mean in this game in this game he does get more beat by Bernardeschi than normal. Like and you know that's probably saying how good he is.
Bridget
12:10
I think he got Nutmegged once
Kara
12:11
too. I'm not saying he's bad. I'm just saying that Bernardeschi was coming for him and it was a
Bridget
12:17
match. Oh yeah, he had a tough match. He got past
Kara
12:19
him a few times. Yeah, but I don't know. But again I don't think he warrants a frickin wrath. But whatever. That's why. That's why we got two of us. Because we don't always see that. Uh, well, then, now that you rap. Yeah, right. I'm
Bridget
12:31
thinking of it. Not in private. Uh, I don't have another ass. Really?
Kara
12:35
No, I don't I don't have another Roth either. Unless you count the ref for counting that goal off for saying those foul. I think Leo gets it. That's crap. Okay, Bridget, do you have any favors for this match? Because since we won, there's got to be some good things.
Bridget
12:51
So I'm gonna go with my first favor. That's going to be an obvious. Well, actually, it's not an obvious one for me. Maybe people would think you would say it, but I'm gonna say at first my liver is going to go to Carolyn Vargas. Karen, you did a little acrobatic flip. You know, afterwards, I was excited. He's been working on his gymnastics. Him and little Enzo did a little hand job thing. Not a hand job, but they did, like, a little, I don't know, are they doing a hard or a circle? I don't really know what they were doing, but they did something afterwards. But it was just about time. And he finally made one. It was an air melon like Grant. And he had a couple miscues still, but the fact that he actually got that one he deposited in the mailbox, he did what he had to do. And I'm hoping that this gives him that little spark that, hey, you still got it in you and come back, you know, like be the man that we know you can be. So I reacting last week. I'm going to give him a favor this week. Said I'm going to do
Kara
13:47
Margie I love that. I think Kerwin had a great game. You asked him for Cincinnati. Wow. Yeah,
Bridget
13:53
I thought I wrapped him like 2 or 3 times already this year, so. Well.
Kara
13:57
But you know what? He luckily he comes back from this because for this match, he he has a great game. Really the production from the wingers was just fantastic. The really things that we actually have needed the whole time. So if we see this continue and the future is bright. But he had a number of chances, especially in the beginning. He had, you know, some attempts on goal and we actually had quite a bit of action in the box. There were chances created by Liel Westwood, Danny Lindsay and finally a couple of those, you know, Kerwin had gotten off shots, but they're they're just they're just wide and and the way it comes about for Kerwin Skoll. So Westy he sees that Bill has space around and there's no Toronto man space. So he sends it to him to deliver the ball. Bill does a long cross to Kapiti who heads it into a bit of space for Curwin who was already anticipating that. And he has a quick shot through those legs and his. That was the third time he'd had that bottom left shot before, and he'd gotten it outside both times. But the third time's the charm, I guess, for Curwin Carolan.
Bridget
15:13
Afterwards they were asking him about it and he said that it meant a lot that Dean had faith in them, that he kept talking. You know, he kept egging on mine and saying, you could do it. And at the end, those is a little buddy, too. So it felt good for him to keep it up. I'm just hoping that he can take this momentum and continue to do what he has to do. Oh, they asked him if he would rather be a right wing or left winger because he switches it up and he said he prefers the right wing right. And now he said, I think so, but he'll do whatever they say too.
Kara
15:43
He also had some good deliveries for others in moments, but they don't. I mean, they don't come to anything but no, I thought he had a he had a top notch game better than he's had all season. So it's really nice to see him getting that because he is so talented. Definitely just just a great job. Well deserved favor.
Bridget
15:59
Yay.
Kara
16:01
Do you have another one that you want to talk about?
Bridget
16:03
Yeah. You don't want to tell me
Kara
16:04
yours. I absolutely will. But let's let's talk about your second one. Then we'll go on.
Bridget
16:09
Oh okay. That's how we're rolling. Yeah okay. So my second one is going to go to I'm going to say yours. Not again 2s okay. My second one is my surprise one. You wouldn't think that I would say this one because I'm not I'm a big Bernie Byrne fan. But I feel like Lindsay did a great job. I watched him, he didn't have a shirt tucked in, which was surprising because he normally does. But I watched him because last week I thought he was a little rusty, and I wanted to see the difference in him and burn. And there is a difference in their style of play. But the thing about Lindsay and I want to give my favorites because his his crosses are like the chef's kiss. And he just makes the most beautiful crosses when you think that there's no way. And then he also can control that ball he kept it away from. He had like two people on him a lot, and he kept the ball and it just control. And I just think the guy needs some favor. So I'm gonna give mine to Lindsey. Jalen Lindsey number 24. But he's 24 right. You're
Kara
17:07
right you're right. He is 24. Yeah
Bridget
17:09
I got something right.
Kara
17:11
And actually you know I was listening today to the commentary in my rewatch. And the guy was saying that Lindsay's been playing in MLS for nine years.
Bridget
17:21
He seemed so young there.
Kara
17:23
And so now now I feel the need to go, like, really look that up because I'm like really nine years, nine years. And maybe that's because
Bridget
17:29
he was 2s older than George.
Kara
17:32
I think they're same age. Well how is
Bridget
17:34
that happened? Georgia's got a college three
Kara
17:36
years ago. Lindsay's a home grown.
Bridget
17:38
Oh, yeah. Lindsay played for, like, other places. Yeah, he went through the academies.
Kara
17:43
So if you think about our our young guys signed at 15, like, it's not unrealistic. But to us it's like, oh
Bridget
17:50
wow. Yeah.
Kara
17:51
I don't know. It just blows my mind just slightly a little. And so now I really want to know more about that. But anyway that's neither here nor there. Okay. No I thought he had a good a good match. I saw a number of times where he was trying to deliver crosses and forward momentum and making runs into the box. I think he has settled down in this game, especially like from last one. I think it's just a tough match in general because Toronto is actually pretty good this year. They've been tough to beat and obviously by the they're too talented goals too, even though they're down. You know Lucas of people who were injured this match too. But nevertheless they they were tough to play against. It's just that finally I feel like Charlotte FC capitalize on chances that they they had, which has been, you know, the running gimmick. But no, I think I think Lindsay is really instrumental in the goal for Patrick Ojomoh because he gets the secondary assist he sees 1s after the ball has bounced around, bounced around, bounce around, and that a few minutes on their side of the pitch on Toronto's and it just keeps coming back and we keep holding possession. And Lindsay, under pressure from a Toronto man, sees Diarra out on the wing close to the corner just floating out there, nobody on him and delivers a really nice pass up to him. And Diarra is able to easily cut it across for Patrick to be surrounded and still get a goal. So I think, I mean, if Lindsay hadn't been paying attention on that one and again, he had other chances that just weren't. Didn't have the final product for other people. But, you know, kudos to him that he does this time and he is able to see that vision, which he had other moments of vision as well. I do think in in this Toronto match, they did try to keep going down his way to try and kind of press him a little more. So I think he had a lot to do. But he does play the full 90 and to me played a good, solid match. I don't think that yellow card is warranted honestly to either. No, I mean yes, he got he got the yellow, he did the tackle. But to me that takes him down a little bit and and you know statistics and stuff. But I give him a pass. He was
Bridget
20:03
doing good. He did a good job. I'll
Kara
20:04
take a yellow for sure Lindsay.
Bridget
20:06
Let's try. This is a pretty purdy. Yes. Purdy. Who are your favors now that you have me talk about mine?
Kara
20:12
So my first favor is going to the man of the match, Liel Abada. And I am so, so like he has me jazzed. And this is why, Bridget, I was like, I really I need to favor Leo. I can't tell you how many times he created chances. He was creative in general. He was moving around sometimes in the same spaces. Now, whether that's a competitor or a Leo kind of jumping over each other, who's who's got it there. But, you know, we've really lacked that. Willingness to take a man on, and sometimes he was taking two men on. And just to see that and him be able to get it past them and just deliver some really pretty pieces, one of the ones he gets to do and then some to our field, it's all, man. It's just, where has he been?
Bridget
20:59
He's so fast. He's so fast out there too. And you're like, whoa, where'd you come
Kara
21:03
from? He's very quick. And I really think that that goal again, he shouldn't be called off. It was pretty talented as well. Toronto gets caught napping on it. And so unfortunately that one's called back. But at least he is absolutely paying attention to capitalize on Toronto's mistake passing it across. And he's so quick on the ball dodges his man. It is what dreams are made of is taking advantage of that pass and mistake by Toronto. And finally Leo gets his first goal and puts one back on someone else's mistake. How many times have we had our mistakes just brutally used against us? So in this one we get a return of look and how much better it is that it's to our new new winger. New? Yep. And you know, new Crown signee to be really welcomed into the fortress.
Bridget
21:58
Yeah I think he. Yeah. So excited. He took a shirt off. We want mad about it at all. Um but you can't do that in MLS. You gotta get a yellow card. So he got his his first yellow card. So that was cute. But he said that it was worth it. He didn't mind the fun that he's gonna get afterwards. And I just thought he was very defensive. You know, that he was very defensive. And his he like you said, he wasn't scared to go after that ball and get it and attack. And it's a little different with him. And NZ is not afraid to attack either. But Enzo's I don't know. It's just something different about him. But Leo's just out there and he's so quick and he doesn't mind getting in the middle of those guys and it's like, whoops, got the ball from me. Here I go. And then once he gets the ball, it's just like over. At that point they can't catch him. He's like, we got Speedy Gonzalez and we got the Roadrunner. All our team like we got them all. They're just it's it's great that we have that. And just to see it, we just didn't know what we were missing. Until you see it you're like that's just awesome. It's pretty. So pretty. So I wish you would have that too. But we'll tell you the one. We won't be mad about it.
Kara
23:00
Yeah, let's just start the tally. I'll be happy to see that tally Marco up pretty quickly over this
Bridget
23:05
season. Let's just let's just
Kara
23:07
hope. Hope for that. He is just so exciting. And I didn't realize. I mean, you'd hope for that amount of money that we paid for him, that he would be. And he was the what young player of the year in 2022 for Scotland like the top younger player of the year. So that that has to mean something. And just to see this happen so quickly, when he hasn't really had time to build that chemistry and to he's constantly played with different people on the front line. I really think that he just play some exciting soccer that is just fun to watch. And and we've missed that.
Bridget
23:44
Yeah, I'm glad he gets the opportunity to do it because I know he's very, um, stressed out. You know, he's very about his homeland and all that. So I know he has a lot weighing on his mind and things like that. So for him to be able to come here to our team and we support him and give him that opportunity and he's just happy to be here. He's just loves it and he's embracing it. And so I'm just glad that he's seeing results this quickly, because that makes me want to do better, because I feel like if you're doing great and then, you know, you got all this fans behind you, you got everything going, it makes you want to even do better. And I just feel like it's good for him mentally, too, that he's here and he gets it. I feel like we have. A really good fan base that supports these, the supports, the players.
Kara
24:25
I'm telling you now, if you're excited, you want a name on your kit. I think Abbott is a really awesome one to get this year. Just saying,
Bridget
24:34
Kara, you could always replace your water ski with a bottle, but I just think there's not enough letters that got rid of this ratio. So
Kara
24:41
yeah, probably. But
Bridget
24:43
I guess we'll have to wait. Dang it. I mean, I've been trying to get you to switch that sort of off there for a minute. Well, to get us another s sake and just somehow do it anyways. So here's your who's your other favorite? Because I was going to say something about um, about his cohort, but I'll wait until after you say who your next area is. I think I
Kara
25:03
might surprise you on this one. My second favorite goes to Scotty Arfield, who I actually ran the last time we played Toronto. So
Bridget
25:12
back in the day two oh okay.
Kara
25:15
No he gets a favor today. Oh
Bridget
25:17
Scotty no I really really
Kara
25:19
really I just I liked what I saw from our field. And maybe it's just, you know, him playing in the United States as opposed to Canada. No idea. But either way, I thought his match was just very creative. He delivered some things into the box. He had some key passes. He had a shot that goes just off target, playing this like tiki taka soccer with the rest of them. No, I just he was trying to take on some people a little bit. I really liked it. I just, I liked what I saw from him today playing the ten. Now I'm glad that him and I kind of get to switch around. I think that makes it exciting. And they they each have different strengths in this role. I just feel like you saw some pretty good things from our field today, some solid connecting and holding it together and and leadership. Did you see Scotty do anything good? I
Bridget
26:09
think that Scotty is awesome. I like seeing him start ahead of react personally, so I was excited about that. I think he does a lot of controlling and he runs around a lot, but when he's running around, he's actually doing something. I think he's making things happen. He's a workhorse. He's our he's our brand Bronco and Brandt's not out there. He's our little worker I mean they don't play the same position I don't know people okay. But he's like our little workhorse out there making things happen. You gotta have those on your team. And plus he was he's half Canadian. So we definitely was going to start and let him play against his peoples. And he said in an interview this week that he wouldn't take anything back for what he's been through to where he's at now. And I just, I like I like that about the guy, anybody that's going to work hard and do that. So I'll go with you on that favor. I'm not mad about that one.
Kara
26:57
Well thank you. Do you have anyone else who you want to highlight for this match that you saw or who did? Well? And I think I think we probably are going to agree on one of the people that definitely needs to be mentioned.
Bridget
27:08
Anytime you give him a phone call, he answers it. And when we called Patrick in and I know I'm so stupid. Okay, first of all, let me let me tell you, if y'all are with me at a game, you're either going to get me really upset and I'm going to be mad because we're losing or doing whatever, or I'm going to be over here being really ridiculous. And like Kara told me at one point, thank God you don't drink because the way you're acting right now and you're not drunk.
Kara
27:29
I'm saying all again. Yeah,
Bridget
27:32
I was I lost my I mean, I was yeah, I was dancing, I was doing some stuff that my daughter would totally been embarrassed about. I was having a good old time out there when that was happening, because I knew I trusted. And like, when I saw him coming in, I got excited too. And I was out there yelling, I don't know if the people that sit with you are going to like me being around you. I honestly don't know. I was like, oh my God, call on Patrick. And then he came in and they scored and I'm doing a dance and you're like, should I record that? And I'm like, please, dear God, don't you know that would be like that TV show America's Funniest Home Videos? You probably could have recorded me on there. We won
Kara
28:05
50 grand. I don't think anyone to me like, this is the time to be stupid. We made that third goal. We went up and we were tied. I don't care, you can do whatever I was. I was not embarrassed of you. I was just like, what are you doing? I got a good laugh out of it. I need more laughter
Bridget
28:21
in my life. I got a good laugh about it, too. She was like, what are you doing? She said, I think at one point she said, she said, this is the opposite of at one point she goes, you just said Bill's name eight times and like five seconds.
Kara
28:34
Sorry.
Bridget
28:35
Good morning. I did it for Pat too. And back. Amen. But no, I said I have to give it to Pat. And he's so humble too. And like after we heard, we talked to him after we didn't personally, but you know, the interviews after the game and somebody was asking him like, did it mess with his mentality that he didn't start? And I started over him and he had the best answer. He said no, that if he's called to come in and no pun intended, like we call on him, but if he's called to come in and be a sub, then he's going to come in and do what he has to do as a sub to help us win. That's what he did. He's like, I don't go out there and hope that Enzo does bad, you know, like you're not going to go out there and hope that your teammate does bad. You're just gonna be a teammate.
Kara
29:16
No, because it's the whole
Bridget
29:17
team and you want to win. So I just thought that was a good answer that he gave like that. You know. So he's just out for the team mentality. He's out there to literally help us win. I really think that we need to be careful with him, because people are going to see what he's worth and come hunting for him if we, you know, don't take it, don't, you know, take care of them ourselves. So we can't not give like a give one a mini 1 or 1 to Pat Patrick, your mom, especially when he's had such trouble and criticism potentially on him not finishing chances and really like, it's so wonderful to finally see him succeed here when he really has been working hard on trying to finish those chances, even if it hasn't happened that way. And he had a number of times this time where he tries to capitalize on a loose ball or something and it, you know, does it. But he was he was working very hard to deliver something for the for the team. And finally it does come off in such traffic and it's such a great moment. So he really deserves that praise for that third goal put in the game home. Patrick
Kara
30:24
I think I mixed up metaphors playing the game. Too bad
Bridget
30:28
I don't know. Ah yeah, don't ask me. That's too late. I'm ready to go to bed now. Okay. So I'm gonna give you my other one that just threw everybody
Kara
30:36
off. Hit me.
Bridget
30:37
Okay, so this other one, I noticed a lot of people have been criticizing this person a whole, whole lot. Me as well, I think. I think I've asked him a couple times myself, but I watched him on his game, and I'm really pulling for him to score every time I really want him to score, I want him to get them, get our money's worth out of them. But I think that I think that maybe instead of expecting this person to score all the time, but we have to look at what else the person's doing. So if you haven't figured out, give him a little favor to Enzo capacity. I
Kara
31:10
absolutely have that written down too,
Bridget
31:13
because I notice if he holds these people off when like especially when Killian is doing what cleaner does distribution was. And when any of them is doing it.
Kara
31:22
But if Enzo wasn't holding all these players like he does, there wouldn't be no other opportunities for Leo or Caroline. You wouldn't have those other opportunities out there because Enzo is holding these guys up a lot, like a lot. And I noticed that from where I was on Saturday and I was watching it, like, if it weren't for him holding a lot of these up and went on a lot of these balls and him hold it up now, it gives Leo that opportunity to win it because we have someone that's going to win it when he holds it up. I just don't think we would do as well as we could. So maybe he's not meant to be our number one deep score on the team. I'm sure he would love to score, but he's doing something that I think that we don't pay attention to. That's what I see. And then also another thing, when he's not scoring a lot and you know, that's going to put a lot of pressure on him. But when Leo scored he was just as happy for Leo scoring as he was when Caroline scored. When the game was over, he was one of the first people like he had the biggest smile on his face that we want. Like for the the way that we perceive Encyclopédie to be is that he's like all about himself and he's this person. But I am seeing him become a team player that we didn't see last year. Like it's not about him scoring, which we want him to be. It's about him being a team player now.
Bridget
32:43
So maybe we want him to come back and be that egotistical, narcissistic person that needs to score all the time, but instead he's changed. Maybe it's the daddy side of him, but he's starting to be like where he wants his care, when to score, he wants someone else to score, and he's just as happy when they score. And now I'm like, look, bro, I'm gonna need you to suck it up and become a jerk again and just get out there and go balls to the walls. But either way, I have to give him a little bit of credit. So there you go. That's my end zone. Nice rant. Next week I'm going to rob
Kara
33:13
him. Just kidding. 2s That's that's exactly who I have. My little my little favor written down before before
Bridget
33:22
we even make some things look at us. Yep. Yeah. I'm so proud of you. That's exactly who
Kara
33:28
I am. I'm
Bridget
33:30
learning.
Kara
33:32
Yeah. And I won't say, like again. He. Sometimes there was crossing over little and how poor pass here and there. But honestly like he does get the assist off he is attempting to really play the ball back and forth, keep possession and do that hold up, play drag runners like he is a workhorse and not enough of that work is appreciated because he's not making a goal at the end of the night. And you know, we still believe in him, still want him to score plenty, but. I. I do agree with you that he had a good match inasmuch as he didn't get a goal. Does that make sense? Yeah.
Bridget
34:13
No, I totally get it. I mean, I want him to score. I would love to see him scoring, but if he's not going to score, if he can help other score or make it happen, then he's doing his job. So I feel like where I didn't see Bill come out there and like because I haven't played and started in a couple of weeks, I said, Bill, and you know where I didn't see Bill go out there and take over and say, hey, this is why I deserve this job. I saw him go out there and do that and say, this is why I deserve the starting position.
Kara
34:37
And another thing of his, his work rate too, is on high pressing and in defensive strategy, like he is different in than Pat in that. Like I feel like Enzo works has a higher work rate defensively just overall than Patrick because Patrick likes to get around and get quick rather than trap. Yeah, which is more what Enzo likes to do. Uh, put that pressure. So maybe they do give up the ball in a different way that someone else could jump on, or he can jump on. That's nothing against them. I just think they have different strengths. And I also think too, that Enzo is more has been more frequently. Playing winger at times in his history, and so he isn't quite as like he hasn't always played the nine. You know, like to me, he kind of can go anywhere along the front. And that's really what we have been seeing from him is kind of the switching around. He's not always at the night and if you're not always at the nine, then you're probably not going to get that pass sometimes because he's the one, either the one passing or the one delivering to someone else in the middle, or sometimes right and or dragging your runners to someone else can. And so that's to me sometimes why he's not always the one on the ball is because he's generating movement. So to make the defense work, look
Bridget
35:54
at us. We get a little bit of credit, okay. And just don't don't let us down next week. Don't let us down.
Kara
36:02
Speaking of, next week, we're playing Minnesota, who is actually just one above us in the table. Overall, I
Bridget
36:08
thought that below us, they're not above us. They're below us, right?
Kara
36:12
They're above us.
Bridget
36:13
Power rankings. They're below us.
Kara
36:15
Yes. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Right. I mean, we're tied with 11 points, but they've had one less loss than we have and they've played one less game. They bound to be good. I mean we actually in the preseason played them and we had a draw in preseason. And granted some things have changed since preseason. I'm sure on both sides in both in both games and but we've got little, so we have to pin our hopes on we'll pulling something amazing out too. So I'm not
Bridget
36:45
going to go in. We got that good streak going at home where we hadn't lost.
Kara
36:49
Plus Minnesota hasn't been it hasn't been that good at home. I think where they've been better has been away. But their last few matches they have either drawn or lost like the last three. So against Philadelphia and then a real Salt Lake and uh Houston. So they've had a couple matches. They probably are, but maybe they're just in a, in a. Bit of a slump, so let's capitalize on it. On a Sunday
Bridget
37:15
match. Sunday at 6 p.m.. Man they're rough. Let me tell you. I must thank goodness earlier because these Saturday night I thought that they were tough. But these Saturday night games where, you know, we stay a little bit after through the interview ones and all that. And by the time I get home, I'm so worn out the next day. It is tough. It is tough. And when we win, I sure as heck can't sleep. So then what you're saying is, good
Kara
37:39
luck to all of us who are going back to work on Monday,
Bridget
37:42
right? That's what I'm trying to say. Like, I don't, I'm gonna have to work from home. I think that Monday. So this series will
Kara
37:47
will be more like the Monday horrors, monstrous Monday.
Bridget
37:52
So that means that the whole nation like nation will be watching us, because we'll be having, you know, the big time game on a Sunday night.
Kara
37:58
Yeah, exactly. So
Bridget
38:00
anyway, we'll be doing good. I hope we'll win. We have a really exciting interview that we're hoping to do this week, so be looking forward to that. Hence, I got you a little hint. Might not come
Kara
38:10
out till next week. We'll do our best,
Bridget
38:12
but it's a hint. Pink. That's all I'm gonna say is pink. Other than that, we hope everybody stay safe and has a great week until next week.
Kara
38:20
Thank you so much for listening. Bye bye bye.
