I'm Ann Corbyn, your crossover coach here with this week's episode of The mind body spirit connection. You are a complex being composed of 3 parts. Just get those 3 parts. Mind body and spirit, working together in harmony, and upscale your life. I'm here to show you how.

Hello, hello, and welcome to the very first podcast in what I hope will be a worthwhile interesting, educational, thought provoking, and inspirational series of short talks, possibly introducing new information, possibly building on topics you've come across before, or possibly linking topics where you haven't even realized there was a connection. In short, it's personal development with a twist. As in viewed through the twin lenses of energy medicine and spirituality.

The title of the podcast is The Mind Body spirit connection. And my name is Anne Corbin, and I'm also known as the crossover coach. But How I got that name is a story for another podcast. So I want to kick off the Mindbody Spirit Connection by talking about the stuff we are made of, which might cause you to say, well, that's obvious, flesh and blood. Oh, and bones, of course. Well, yes. That's perfectly true, but there's more. When you think about yourself, how do you identify your self?

And where does that question lead Maybe you thought of your name. In my case, that's Ann Corbin, but it's just a label. My parents chose the Anne, and I agreed to the Corbyn part when I got married, but I am not my name. So what's the next level? Maybe it's personality? And exactly what is that? Is it character? Is it reputation or profession maybe? Lots of people identify themselves with what they do.

Anne that's how they introduce themselves as I'm an accountant or I'm a teacher or you know, something that they're a little bit proud to identify themselves as. And that pride thing explains why To so many, it can be devastating when they lose their jobs. Or even if they retire, because they put so much of themselves into their work or their occupation that when that's taken away, Even if they thought it was voluntary, they begin to feel rudderless.

As though their identity had been somehow compromised. And this was particularly so in the past with men who saw their role, their almost their only role in life as being the breadwinner. It doesn't apply to everybody, obviously. But I'm talking in general terms because we're trying to to find this Anne answer to this question. Who are you? So if you're more than your name and your occupation, you could maybe add in your family role.

You're a mother, a sister, a wife, a husband, partner, whatever. All these things to an extent describe what you do. Or the position in which you found yourself by an accident of birth, literally, in some cases. But How do you think about yourself? How do you answer that question? Who do you think you are? There's that joke, of course, about a Anne time well known actor who was at an airport, check-in desk, or in in the days when we had long queues.

And he was trying to jump the queue or get a seat upgrade or something, and the very young clock who didn't recognize him, obviously, politely told him to go back and wait his turn. Do you know who I am? The actor boomed in his best stage voice, whereupon the clock was thoroughly flustered, Anne she pressed a button called security and said, there's a crazy old man down here who doesn't know who he is.

So you see, he thought that he was his public profile, which on this occasion proved to be less valuable than he had imagined. So who do you think you are Perhaps now your brain has come up with the answer. I'm a whatever you introduce yourself as when you're networking or meeting someone new or completing a social media profile, whatever, whatever. You are engaging your brain. Your mind, your intellect, well, of course, you are. That's how we are all trained from as far back as we can remember.

So does this therefore mean that you are your intellect? Have you ever heard the sentence? You are what you think? It's certainly true. I'm intending to talk more about that on another occasion because it's a huge subject. And an older version of that saying is as a man think of dot dot dot. That is the title of a famous book, famous in its time. It was published in 1903 by James Allen, and it it's based actually on the Bible. In proverbs, there is a line that goes as a man thinketh, so is he.

But Let's ask the question again. Who are you? Not what is your name, not what do you do, or how clever are you, or what have you Anne, but Who are you? Maybe now you want to list out your achievements. And that sort of comes back to Reputation. You're a well respected author or an excellent teacher or a great dad or mom. It still depends on a description of what you do or have done.

And particularly, if you're interested in personal development, You're probably sick of being told to go out and take action because that's the only way you will progress. Or make money Anne so on and so forth. And I've got another question which fits in right here Are you a human being or a human doing? Or presumably, the answer that you feel is right is human being. But I Anne suggest that maybe, just maybe you're being human right at the moment, But that isn't your real actual true identity.

You might have grown up like me. Being told that you were a body and that you had a brain, which was very, very important, and that you had a soul. Anne that provided you were good and followed a whole set of rules and practices properly, then when you died, or when you ceased to be, then that soul would depart from the body. And you would be dead, but your soul would move on and exist somewhere else. I'm speaking as a Christian because that's my background.

Anne we were taught about heaven and hell and purgatory and limbo. And maybe another time, I'll talk a bit about comparative religions because that's quite an interesting topic. But not now, I'm trying to stay on track. Anne I want to flip a certain core teaching on its head and suggest that you are the soul Anne you possess a mind and a body. So the mind and body are what you use to get things done, but you are the spirit. As in you are the CEO, The director of operations.

You could even think of it as being the director of the movie in which you are playing a role. And the next question of course is, are you the star of this movie? Or are you getting through your life as an extra in your own movie? Ouch. Do you feel a sense of control? Are you in charge, or do you feel helpless. Do you feel a lack of control? Do you feel powerful or powerless? Have you noticed that one question leads to another and to another and to another?

We Corbin many of us keep asking, keep seeking, and then you eventually get to the truth At least you hope you do. This is a quote that I love. The quality of your life is determined by the quality of the questions you ask. I didn't even understand what that meant the first time I heard it some many years ago. So I'm saying That you are composed of 3 parts: the body, the mind, and the spirit.

And in psychology, Freud introduced those terms you're probably familiar with, the id, the ego, and the super ego. Anne in philosophy, they call them the unconscious, the conscious, and the super conscious, Anne various other, groups of study have different, groups of 3, but I can't think very more at the moment. Regardless you are tripartite. And when the soul leaves the body for the final time, the body dies.

So we Anne, clearly, compare the spirit with the breath because once we stop breathing, that's it. Life is extinguished. So with the breath representing the spirit or the real you, Well, this is a key concept of spirituality, which is completely different from religion, Anne no doubt you've heard countless people say these days, oh, well, I'm not religious, but I am spiritual. It's very fashionable to make such statements.

It's also fashionable not to mention god Anne rather to refer to the universe. Well, no problem. All roads lead to Rome, as they used to say. Nearly all religions are based on the hermetic principles. It's really quite amazing how many similarities there are in all of various different religions. Anne the hermetic principles can be found set out in the kabalian amongst other places, Anne in there, they use the term for the creator as the all. Another variation is all that there is.

Another is source. In Star Wars, George Lucas spoke about the force. May the force be with you. But no matter how we name it, there's a lot of evidence that there is a creator a driving force or an energy that's behind absolutely everything. And that's what you are because everything. Everything is energy, even if it looks solid, Even if it feels solid. Absolutely. Everything is energy. It's just in different levels of compression. You might not be able to see energy.

That's the sort that we're mostly accustomed to. Think electricity, wifi, Sound, and then move on to heat. That's another energy, and now we're getting around. To being able to feel it with our sensors. You Anne, you can feel heat on your skin, if something's very hot, you can actually damage yourself, burn yourself if you touch it. And you can feel vibrations.

If they're strong enough to feel, I'm talking about feeling them with your hands or feeling your body shake, whatever, it's also possible to sense vibrations because sound, as an energy, when very, very, very low deep notes which are not perceptible to our ears are played in a sound track at a cinema, for example, They can create a feeling of unease or fear or even the sensation that the seat in which you're sitting is shuddering. I remember, oh, very many years ago.

I was very small watching, earthquake. Anne it felt like the cinema was moving. And I think that's the first time that they used it. They called it Sense around or something like that. So we can see colors. We can touch things that we refer to as solid, but as I said a few moments ago, they are not really solid because everything is energy. Not only are you made of energy, That's all you are.

You think you're differentiated into flesh and blood and so on, but whilst that's true to an extent, it all boils down to energy. And also, you are considerably bigger than your body. So these and many other topics are discussed in my book, which happens to be called The crossover Coach. In the book, you can find all the topics that I've discussed in this podcast and, of course, very many. Other topics.

And I also have webinar workshops to explain the concepts in more detail with helpful notes and diagrams because some of what I talk about, it helps a lot if you can refer to diagrams at the same time. So details can be found. Details can be found on my website, which is called the Mindbody Spirit Connection. And that winds up what I have to say for this week So I look forward to being with you same time next week.

The intention is to produce webinars, which will be aired every Friday at the same time. I hope you enjoyed this, and I hope that we will be seeing a lot more of each other Goodbye for now, and have a great week. So friends, that wraps up the mind body spirit connection for this week. Let me know, please. If there are any specific subjects that you would like me to include in a future podcast, join me same time next week or connect with me anytime on social media.
