Hi, Anne Corbin, your Mind Body Spirit Mentor. I'm here with this week's episode of the mind body spirit connection. You are a complex being composed of 3 parts, mind, body, and spirit. Just get those 3 parts working together in harmony Anne upscale your life. I'm here to show you how. How are you doing with this year's? New Year's resolution or resolutions. Did you decide on a few at the end of last year? How many Anne how seriously did you take them?

Did you expect still to be engaged in working on these resolutions Once January was over, many people have fallen by the wayside by January 6th. New Year's resolutions are a habit that I've been accustomed to engaging in for as long as I can remember. Yet when I was growing up, no one talked about setting goals for your life or your career or whatever, Of course, we did have goals like pass your exams, get a qualification, or a job, or a spouse. You know what I mean?

But They weren't talked about in the terms that they are these days. We never spoke of goal setting. We never learned how to do it. Anne we never learned mnemonics like your goal should be smart. We're standing for specific treatable, achievable, realistic, and time sensitive. You know what I mean? Well, I suppose you can see where I'm going with this. Clearly, New Year's resolutions are just one type of goal. And now I wanna revisit that question. How seriously do we take them?

And are we setting ourselves up to fail? Do we slide into a sort of habit or expectation that a new year's resolution is something that we begin on the 1st January, but without much confidence, that this process will still be ongoing by the 1st February or even that we might be integrating it into our future life. Which is really what a new year's resolution should be all about.

Speaking for myself, it so happens that I had a moderately religious upbringing And in the 6 weeks or so before Easter, there's that period called Lent, for which we would always make lenten resolutions. Which generally involved giving something up. For example, chocolate or sugar or alcohol, but these resolutions could be positive, like, for example, to do something generous every day, or get on better with certain members of your family or, keep a gratitude diary or something of that nature.

Anyway, I saw Lent as a sort of second chance for attacking my new year's resolutions. And in fact, I had a bit of a better success rate with lent because it was only 6 weeks long, as opposed to 52 weeks, stretching out into the the future Anne the future and the future. So with Lent, there was a definite start and a definite finish. So I always felt Lent was a second Anne. And, Yeah. I, as I got older, I got better at sticking with my Lenton resolutions.

But what I want to talk about today is how the mind body spirit connection can seriously impact your goal setting and for the better because When the goal is in your mind alone, that means that by definition, you aren't fully invested in it. Because the spirit and the body have no influence on the outcome or likelihood of success.

So If you're interested in skyrocketing your chances of success with your goals and reinvigorating those goals or resolutions that had such good intentions about, approximately a month ago, there's a 3 step process that you can engage in, and it really works. Anne if you crack it for revisiting this year's resolutions or maybe next year, but that's a long way off If you crack it, then you can apply it to other intentions or goals along the way. So firstly, we start with the spirit.

And for that, you can substitute the word soul or higher self, whatever works for you. And there's a mess a meditation on my YouTube channel, the Mindbody Spirit Connection, which is not very long, which will get you into the zone for doing this. But just to explain briefly, the higher self could be considered as your soul, and therefore, it wants the best for you. It wants the best outcome.

And from your soul, you will get inspiration for choosing what makes a great goal or intention because If the thing that you choose to do for new year or whenever doesn't make your heart sing and your soul sizzle, to quote somebody, but I've forgotten who. Then it's going to be really hard to stick with. Yes. I know that there are times when we have to set goals that are more about duty and compliance than anything else. But I'm not talking about those here.

I'm speaking specifically about New Year's resolutions and how to integrate these good intentions into your life and actually improve your life. And then, of course, you can adapt the process as time passes to all types of goal setting, as I've just mentioned. Now you might wonder What's the point of meditating before you set a goal or intention or resolution? But it's all about vibration and energy You need to be in the right state or frame of mind to choose that goal.

Anne there are, in fact, just two categories of energy. Those categories are expansion and contraction. And guess which one you need to be in for this process? Here's a little demonstration of what I mean. So long as you aren't driving Anne you're free to move around a bit, make yourself as small as possible. Bend over double. Cross your anchor hug your knees, hands your shoulders, tuck your head down. You can imagine what I mean. And now say I feel fantastic. Doesn't work, does it?

And now do the opposite stand up, raise your arms in a sort of a y shape, Big smile on your face and say, I feel really depressed. Nope. I bet you can't say that with any conviction either. Now, most of us are in the habit of setting what are described as ego intentions, as in I need to, I ought to, I should do, I must do.

And as soon as we put the intention into words, There's probably a bit of anxiety or even fear generated, or at the very least, a sense of struggle, but soul or spirit intentions will inspire you. If you can produce your intention from the realm of the soul, then it's created from love and in expansion.

And you're in the flow of universal energy your actions, obviously, you have to take action, but they will be supported by cosmic energy Earth Energy, and your path will be powered with ease and grace. Corbin example, an ego intention might be I am going to lose £20 or 1a half stone, how however you calculate these things, or I'm going to drop 2 dress sizes or inch sizes, for your waist size if you're a man.

Now, that's going to generate feelings of struggle, challenge, difficulty, self denial, anxiety, and other similar words. But If you frame the intention with expansive energy, make it come from the soul, You might say something like I'm fit and healthy and radiant Anne so proud of my fantastic new figure. Or the new look knee, you know, choose wording that sounds good to you. And notice how you feel on the inside when you state your goal this way. It's uplifting Anne it's expensive.

And remember, don't worry about the how We always tend to engage our brains at every step, and it stops the magic from happening. So forget about the how, The important thing when we're setting soul intentions is the what? You just have to order what you want. So if you choose to listen to the meditation, it will get you in the zone for choosing or revisiting or redescribing those resolutions from last month.

And if you don't listen, Just take in a few deep breaths through your nose, as I've spoken about earlier, bring the breath right down to your belly. Do that. Three or four times Anne feel nice and relaxed. Now, you could take 2 post it pads of different colors, or two pens of different colors, or just two separate pages. But we're going to make a few quick notes, either in the form of a list, but preferably on post its.

Because if you do it on post its, I've got further what you can do with them. So on the first list, on your first post it, your heading is going to be today's date. Whatever date you're doing this exercise. Then on each separate post it, briefly write down how you feel today, or what you would like to come into your life in the coming year, or even what's worrying you today But be brief. For example, I'm sick of lockdown. What's the future going to Brit? Well, that's a bit too broad.

Will we still be under COVID restrictions this time next year? Or I want to find a soulmate, the perfect soulmate I need a better healthier diet. I'm going to stop whatever bad habit you want to stop. And don't take too long. I think the Americans might call this kind of exercise a brain dumping recession. Now As I say, don't take too long. Do oh, somewhere between 6:10 of these things, you can always come back and revisit it.

Now having done the first part of the exercise, stand up because we want to change the energy. So stamp your feet. Waive your arms around. Touch your toes a few time. Whatever it feels appropriate for you, Do a few star jumps if you're really energetic. Now relax, sit down, even in a different chair would be good, or Move the one that you were in just slightly because this is seriously about an energy change.

We want a different energetic space and smile because now we're gonna look to the future. Imagine that a whole year has passed. Pick up the other color, write today's date, but a year from now, and imagine that you are there. Now, and you're feeling great because you've achieved such a lot in this past year. Don't refer to the other things that you wrote down at all. Just think about what you have achieved in this year just passed. Anne thought per post it or per Anne, be brief.

For example, my relationship with my sister is brilliant. Hi. Got promoted. Thank heavens. I made it to Mexico for a holiday. I'm engaged to the perfect partner. You know the sort of thing, whatever does it for you. And next, if you were using post its, take this years Anne stick them up somewhere where they'll be safe. It can be on a a white board. It can be, on the fridge. It could be on the inside of a cupboard.

I find that quite a helpful place because they're safe, you know, that people don't brush past them. So that would be on the left hand side. And now, perhaps open the right hand cupboard or on the right hand side your whiteboard, as works for you, take the post its of the other color of the next year color and stick them up in no particular order. Then consider them carefully. Look at that mangled list, if you like, and which one of those results has the most impact on you?

Pick up that post it and stick it right at the top of the list Anne then find the second most sole stirring result from what you've achieved in this past year or what's happened. Stick that up by the first one and do it one last time so that you have the 3 post its of the 3 most wonderful results lined up beside each other, and that was your little experiment in time travel. You have got your achievements from the past year after the goal setting exercise.

Those three post its represent what your soul has in store for you this year if you're willing to do the work to get there. And the three things that represent ideal intentions or resolutions are represented by those 3 little posted pages. You might, incidentally, find that you write something surprising and unexpected. It can happen. This is the way the soul talks to you. So having settled on the right intentions, we want to give them the best chance of success.

So we choose our wording with great Corbin, and we get the body involved. Every word that we use has an energetic vibration, which connects with the conscious mind and with the subconscious, which is all important. So first state your intention in the present tense. Claim it as your own. It's yours. You have it now because the universe is very literal. I am and I have are very powerful statements. They invoke your powers of manifestation. Anne I'm not being woo woo here.

Anne just means bring into being. And second, choose some uplifting words. Worse that add color and power and emotion and life to these intentions. Corbin example, I'm so happy, proud elated that, and remember to state the positive outcome you want. Like, for example, I'm vibrantly fit and healthy as a result of my plant based diet. As opposed to, as a result of my meat free diet, you don't want the words in that sentence. That you are intending to avoid.

If you're giving up smoking or sugar or alcohol, don't involve those words in your positive intention. And another aspect of getting the body involved is breathing up and down that central channel. It's called the Shashumna, and it's Anne channel of energy that connects all our chakras. There is information about chakras in the YouTube Anne, and I will cover some more in a future podcast.

But basically, imagine a column of light, connecting the chakra at the top of your head to the one at the base of spine Anne this column of light, think a strip light or a neon light. It's a straight line of bright white energy connecting all your chakras.

Briefly, as you breathe in your breathing air in and out of your lungs, but think of drawing energy down through the top of your head from about 2 feet above your head down through the brain, the throat, the heart, all the way down to the belly. Then you breathe out Anne you breathe the energy down. Down through your hips, legs if you're standing, or down into the earth about 2 feet below where you're sitting.

Then on the in breath, You breathe the energy up, through your hips, up to the belly, change direction, and you breathe out, breathing that energy up through the heart, the throat, the brain, and out through the crown chakra. And you repeat this seizure 3 to 4 cycles, and that energy above your head represents endless possibility you are bringing it down into your cells. This is infinite potential. And you are literally using that energy to activate all the cells in your body.

And this is how we infuse the cells with energy and with potential. Cosmic energy from above, and energy from mother earth is what we breathe up. Anne that supports us in our endeavors. And this is what we mean by embodiment, getting the body involved with the manifestation process, your whole self is involved in the attention, not just your brain or your mind. And the 3rd and final key is brief.

We want to embrace a theme as a beacon or north star for the project, whether it's New Year or lend or a change in career or whatever. Choose a word or a pair of words or a 3 word phrase that feels right exactly right for you at this stage of your life. Single words might be abundance, love, health, vitality, grace, success, Fun, power, confidence. Use your imagination. Pairs of words might be playful curiosity, vital health, relaxed flow, and so on and so forth.

As for phrases, you might pick speaking my truth, living my passion. Ease of movement. Whatever feels right for you. Steer clear of using the word and you just want to pick one feeling that sings, and this is going to be your mantra or reminder that you can deliver miracles when you just believe. Friends. That wraps up the mind body spirit connection for this week.

Let me know, please, if there are any specific subjects that you would like me to include in a future podcast, join me, same time next week, or connect with me Anne time on social media.
