As we offer you different perspectives and analyses of current issues, together with advice on health, wealth, and relationships, as we navigate those storms together, not forgetting the systems available to us from metaphysics Anne our own higher selves. At college, one of my majors happened to be nutrition.
I was quite ahead of my time, but I was interested in the subject matter Anne very recently, well, this is actually pre COVID, but it's recent, functional nutrition appeared to have become quite a hot topic. I had a doctor friend who had just discovered nutrition. Unbelievably, the average doctor spends maybe half a day during their 7 years of training, at least that's the way it used to be. And they just, broadly review the importance of what we put in our bodies on a daily basis.
Doctors training centers on diagnosis and prescribing chemical remedies. Thank you, John D Rockefeller, a pill for every ill. Many of our chronic diseases Anne the majority of cancers can be improved if not eradicated by upscaling our diets and cutting out poisons such as sugar Anne also drastically reducing animal protein.
There's the China study by Corbin Campbell, which they filmed, and that film is called forks over knives, and it sets out very clearly the arguments for limiting or even eliminating consumption of animal protein. But back to this thing about sugar, many people Imagine that they're doing themselves a favor if they're dieting and trying to lose weight by switching to synthetic sugars, and one that has been very popular over the years is aspartame.
And if you're clued up and listened to information along these lines, you'll be well aware of the dangers of a spot aim, but in case it's new to you, Let me just give you a bit of background. I think it's true to say that a spot aim was adopted by the Coca Cola company in and numerous others, but specifically, they came up with this Diet Coke product in the early eighties. Anne the amazing thing about Aspartame was you could hardly taste that it was a synthetic sweetener.
So this was, a quantum leap for the diet industry because, part from the fact that various previous ones had been, taken off the market because they were cancerous and so forth. Aspartame seemed to tick all the box plus, it didn't taste too bad. If Anne you ever tasted that dreadful dreadful drink called cab years ago, again, back in the eighties, pre diet coke, I believe it was very popular. I had a few sips of it Anne Anne I have never tasted anything so awful.
I simply couldn't get the taste out of my mouth. And even now, I still personally don't like, any kind of soft drink that even has synthetic sweetener as an addition, and this is really sneaky in my opinion because a lot of what we jokingly call full fat soft drinks, not only have sugar in them, but in addition, just to make them that bit more sweet or perhaps cheaper to produce, they have synthetic sweeteners as well, and I can always taste them.
So as a matter of preference because of the taste, I will never have Diet style drinks. But back to a spot aim, I've known for many years that it's been, disclosed to have caused holes in rats brains. And as a as a result of that, regrettably, I have had to stop purchasing numerous yogurts that I used to really like are because they're full of this aspartame stuff. So that's a source of rather great sadness for me.
However, let me give you a list of all the things that a spot aim has now been identified as causing. The side effects include the following decreased vision Headaches and migraine, epileptic seizures, severe depression, irritability, and phobias, severe, PMS, hyperactivity in children, multiple sclerosis, also known as MS, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and also birth defects, including mental retardation. Anne that's not surprising.
If you link it back to what I said about a spot aim causing holes, in the brains of rats. If you happen to leave anything sweetened with a spot aim lying about, on the floor for whatever reason, nothing will eat it. Even cockroaches and ants won't eat it cats and dogs won't go near it, even house flies aren't interested, but the FDA, they the food and drug administration in America, they declared it was safe.
If you've ever read anything about the procedures they go through, when they make their decisions, you will have lost all confidence in the FDA, as I did many years ago, but specifically about a spot aim, I heard I mean, I I read this just very, very recently as in the last couple of days. This stuff aspartame was invented in 1965, and they, tried very hard to get it onto the market in various products, and it was banned. It was absolutely not allowed Anne clearly for very good reasons.
They were concerned about safety and the causing of cancer. However, in the early eighties, Ronald Reagan came into power in America. Anne we now know that in fact he wasn't making very many of the decisions at all. It was his vice president, and that was, George Bush Senior Anne his other left tenant, forget exactly what his official role was, but it was Donald Rumsfeld.
Those 2 men influenced Ronald Reagan incredibly Anne they are responsible for the ridiculous decisions about vaccine manufacturers not being responsible for any side effects caused by the vaccines. And similarly, it was thanks to those 2, although Reagan gets the blame regrettably. I don't think it's his fault, except that he wasn't truly in charge. He was just a front man that everybody loved. So after a period of about 15 years of arguing and wrangling, a spartan suddenly was declared safe.
So it's been in our food starting most famously with Diet Coke, but it's in loads and loads of other things, ever since the early eighties. And again, if you are concerned about losing weight and you think that chewing gum is a great idea, almost all chewing gum is flavored with a spot aim. Sorry to deliver this bad news, but if you're more worried about your health and your figure, then a spot aim is something you really need to cut out of your diet.
Type 2 diabetes, which used to be called adult onset diabetes has greatly increased in the West. Over the past 25 years or so, particularly in the United States and the UK, and the populations will not be aware particularly of having greatly change their eating patterns. The hidden problem is quite simply a excessive sugar consumption.
So even though people might be making efforts to buy sugar free beverages, for example, or sugar free yogurt, whatever, they're not doing themselves any favors the slimming front, and studies have shown that in fact, all these sugar substitutes do not assist you with weight loss because they it's the way they treat the wiring of the brain Anne the brain still feels that it's getting a sugar hit. Anyway, that's off the subject, really.
I wanted to say that a lot of refined sugar and the substitutes are hidden in the products that we consume every day Anne there are more than 50 names for sugar substitutes. Anything ending in o's like maltose and sucralose, anything ending in o's is a sugar. Anne, oh, there is that most famous of culprits Corbin syrup. Oh, also beware of product labeled sugar free. It's a con. And especially if you're diabetic, it simply means that they don't contain Anne Sugar.
Corn syrup was a manufacturer's dream because they discovered that it could make their products, oh, I don't know, three times as sweet for a fraction of the price, like an 8th of the price, So they started putting corn syrup in everything, and the results of that can be seen in people's figures.
So people imagine that they're I'm still eating food in moderate quantities, but the trouble is there's all this hidden sugar that they aren't even aware about, and This addition of corn syrup to soft drinks was an enormous confidence trick because apart from the cheapness of it, The drinks got sweeter, and believe it or not, most consumers didn't notice. That is The products kept on selling at the same rate, but corn syrup is addictive as well as all its other problems.
Even more show than sugar, which is bad enough. Places where sugar is hidden. It's even hidden in bread. Generally speaking, we don't find that bread is sweet, but all of it that's manufactured I can't speak for people who bake their own. I've seen many recipes that include sugar, there might be recipes that don't include sugar, but any bread that you buy in supermarkets will have sugar in it.
If you've ever made jam, you'll know how sugar literally melts into the fruit that you're, boiling, and you need huge quantities to produce quite a small volume of jam. They've used sugar as a preservative for 100 years, but it's not used for that purpose today as much as just to give us sweet treats. Anne also there's the proliferation of ready to cook foods, and they're very popular because of our busy lifestyles.
If you pick up a packet of anything in a supermarket and read through the list of ingredients, Even things which you consider are savory, such as pasta, in some kind of source, you will be amazed how soon Sugar appears in the list using 1 or other of its hidden names because the higher up on the list a thing presents itself, it means that the percentage of it is higher in the total amount of ingredients.
Another con delivered to us by the insurance diets, processed food industries, is that fat is bad for our health, and that we need low fat diets in order to reduce weight. Never. Repeat never buy low fat versions of anything. Not only is the logic flawed, we actually need fat to live healthy lives. And also, the fat is what produces the flavor in almost all instances. So if you remove the fat, you remove the flavor. And what do they replace it with?
Or sugar, of course, because if they don't replace the fat with something, then fat reduced food tastes like cardboard. And remember what I said earlier, if they're not using real sugar and they're using synthetic sugar, it's just as bad. Oh, Anne there is the supersize con, if you purchase a soft drink, which is already, generally speaking, bigger than you need, the clock at the counter will very possibly ask you if you want to supersize it for a very small extra fee.
You think you're getting a great deal, even though you do not need that extra volume, and for the seller, the deal is even better because more than 90% of it is profit. If we would just sort out our diets removing as much processed food as possible, With particular reference to cutting out refined sugar, there will be noticeable and virtually immediate benefits, better skin, better hair, increased vitality, reduced brain fog. Oh, not to mention. Weight reduction.
A diet containing as much fresh fruit and vegetables as we can afford will prevent what are described as lifestyle diseases. For example, diabetes, age related problems such as hypertension, oh, and also Alzheimer's. There are those who have suggested that Alzheimer's could be labeled type 3 diabetes. Anne patients have healed themselves from cancers and autoimmune diseases simply by means of intention. Mindset, and a healthy diet.
