True personal growth ultimately will lead to fulfillment, and it's my intention with these podcasts to connect more deeply with you. Thank you for joining me, Anne Corbin and my guests, and welcome to this episode. Today, I'm about to share something that has absolutely transformed my life and indeed the lives of many of my clients, and that is the mirror principle. It's a law of the universe and it has the power to change how we experience reality.
So I'm going to set out what it is, how it works and how you can apply it to get real, practical results. This is not what you'd call typical self help advice. It is the kind of thing that the 1% learn from birth and which for centuries was hidden from the rest of us, but not anymore. So I'm talking about practical transformation, not just something that you hear or read once and forget about, but esoteric principles that you can actively use to change your life and you can start today.
So let's get going. First off, exactly what is this mirror principle? Well, it's simple and yet it's profound. It says that the outer world reflects our inner world. That's right. The life that we see around us mirrors what's happening inside us. If our inner world is full of chaos and stress and negativity, that is what will be reflected in our outer world too.
But if we cultivate intentionally calm, confidence, love and abundance, if we cultivate that within us, then we start to see those things being reflected in our experiences and our opportunities and the people who come into our lives. You might have heard spiritually inclined people talking about doing the inner work. Well, this is what it's all about. As above, so below. Again, outer world follows inner world.
The things that you're seeing in your life right now, whether it's in your relationships, your business or your finances, these things are the result of your inner state up to this point. Your inner world is shaping your physical reality. So what? You might say. Well, because it's a universal law, it works the same way for everyone. And if we take a moment to observe the people around us or even reflect on ourselves, we can see this principle in action.
What's happening on the inside is happening. It's showing up on the outside. It's an energetic principle which governs everybody's life. And you're probably thinking, 'Okay, so how can we use this knowledge to our advantage? How do you put it into practice?' Well, the first thing to remember is our current reality, that is, what's going on for us at the moment, is our energetic history.
In other words, the reality that we see today, our everyday experience, is a reflection of the energy that we've been holding in the past. It takes a bit of time to show up in the physical world because the Universe does this balancing act and all the time it is striving to if you picture one of those old balance scales like the the courts of justice, the star sign Virgo, she she holds a balance with the two little hanging baskets, which are supposed to be hanging evenly.
So imagine the Universe is doing that with your life, and the law of balance says that if those two parts of our life are out of balance, then something will happen to bring them back into balance. Eventually what happens is your inner energy will manifest that means come into being in the outer world. And if you want to change your outer reality, guess what? The first step is to change your inner world. And you can do this. So who do you need to become?
Well, one of the most powerful questions that we can ask ourselves is, who do I need to become in order to have the life that I dream of? Tony Robbins is famous for saying that the point of setting a goal is not really to achieve the goal, it's to become the person you need to be to achieve that goal. So whether you want to travel or find a dream partner or achieve a financial goal, you have to ask yourself, what does the version of me look like who already has these things?
So talking about goal setting again, if you've done any of that, you'll know how important it is to get absolutely crystal clear on what you truly want. And this is critical because if we ourselves don't know what we want, the universe can't really support us. Whether it's a dream job or a successful business or a healthy relationship, get specific. Use numbers, use measurements. More money, better job, get fitter. These wants and desires are too vague. You have to specify.
So once you know who you need to become, the next step is to visualize that version of yourself because we think in pictures. And similarly, the universe can see the pictures that you are dreaming. And also, what you're thinking about, what you're visualizing is contributing to a huge extent to how you are feeling. Oh no, visualizing isn't just about daydreaming.
It's about becoming that person and becoming them now, because the brain doesn't differentiate between vivid imagination and actual reality. So when you visualize often enough and listen, when you connect with the feelings of this future self, that is the person that you have become, then your subconscious starts to accept that as your reality, and the scales start to shift. Visualize how that future person carries themselves. What are their values? What about their confidence?
And how do they interact with others? What does their life look like? What are they surrounded by? Where do they live? Who do they surround themselves with? The more vividly you can see all the detail, then the more naturally you will begin to align with that future version of yourself. Lean into the feeling. I can't stress enough how important it is to BE that future person. But here's the thing, you can't just sit around waiting passively and expect it to happen.
You have to put significant effort into this being and do it right now, over and over, on an extended basis. It isn't about faking it until you're making it, it's about tuning in to the energy of this new person that you're becoming. So start acting now like that ideal version of yourself. Start taking the steps, making decisions the way they would, and showing up in a way that aligns with a whole new version of you. Feeling is the secret is a seminal book written by Neville Goddard.
It's probably he who first said, Be more loyal to your vision than to the physical world around you. So what this means is don't get attached to the stuff that you're seeing right now. If the outer world is just a reflection of your past energetic history and things aren't going how you want them to, don't give up. Keep your focus on this vision of who you genuinely are becoming.
And when you stay loyal to that vision and continue visualizing and acting as that version of yourself, gradually, you cause this shift in your energetic frequency. And this allows the universe to begin bringing in those opportunities and people who match the new energy and who you need to help you on the journey. And this is what we refer to as synchronicity. And the change doesn't happen overnight.
It takes about six to eight weeks of sustained focus on your new energy for things to really start shifting in the physical world. And this is called the quantum to Newtonian transition point. You've probably heard people say things like, it's going to take a little while for things to change. And they're totally, absolutely right. The universe needs time to align your outer world with your new inner reality. But here's the catch: most people give up too soon.
They start visualizing and doing the inner work, but when they don't see massive changes after a week or two, then they fall back into old patterns. It's all too easy to let things slide. Life gets in the way. And even if it isn't conscious disillusionment, you might just forget because new habits take time to bed in. So stick up reminders where you'll see them.
Pictures of your dream house or car or partner or of that new slim vibrant you, whatever it is you're aiming for, keep thinking about it, generate the feeling. And if you can stick with it and stay focused on the vision and keep resonating with that higher version of yourself, then you will start to see dramatic change around this six to eight week mark. We say that life provides a feedback loop because as you're making all these changes, life will give you feedback. And this is key.
It's how the universe actually helps you stay on track. Sometimes the feedback shows up in the form of challenges, tests or things falling apart. But instead of falling into victim mode, use it as a guide. Notice what's happening and ask yourself, what is the message here? Why is this happening? Life is always giving us clues when we need to stay on course. And if things are not going as planned, then it's a signal to check-in with myself. What energy have I been holding onto?
Am I still resonating with my vision? Staying committed can indeed be challenging because the universe will keep testing you as you grow. You might find yourself losing a job, a relationship might fall away, or something will shift, and it can be really uncomfortable. It's just the universe balancing things out, ensuring that your inner world matches the outer.
Remember, your inner world is quite possibly very chaotic when you start, so shifting the two things into balance is perhaps less than comfortable. But stay loyal to the vision, keep visualizing who you're becoming, and the universe will reflect back to you what you're visualising. Stick with it, keep your focus on the vision, and trust that the universe is working hard behind the scenes to bring everything into alignment with the new you just the way you've designed it.
And when challenges arise, remember they're just a part of the journey. Dig for the gold in those uncomfortable moments because there's always something to learn. Ask, where's the good in this that I haven't seen yet? I'm pretty sure that's one of Mary Morrissey's sayings and it's really good advice. In summary, to quote Peter Sage, and tattoo this on the insides of your eyelids, Your outer world reflects your inner world.
If you want to change your reality, you have to start with changing your energy and your thoughts and your beliefs. Visualize that future self. Act like that person now. Some people call it acting as if. And stay committed for at least six to eight weeks. Trust in the process and let the universe bring in the opportunities that match the new you. I hope this episode helps you get one step closer to the life of your dreams.
