So today, it's my plan to explore a little more about how this fight or flight safety mechanism can have a huge impact on our lives without our even being aware that it's happening. It can actually hold success away from us just outside our grasp Even when we think we're doing everything right, following the blueprint, the advice or the trainings for which we've paid large sums of money.
If this has happened to you Anne you're wondering why you can't crack those goals, or get that promotion or find the ideal mate, or even get the beach body, or the 6 pack physique. That's the incomparable goal for men, I believe, then listen on. However, if you tend to think the way my dear departed husband did, that what I'm saying is all psychobabble, quote, unquote, well then maybe you're a new listener. And if so, I'll be amazed if I'm able to convert you in just 15 minutes or so.
But I do love a challenge. I find that it's reassuring to learn that there are reasons why we don't succeed. And when a reason or a cause has been identified, at least you know that there will be a solution that you can take steps to overcome the problem or the blockage or the subconscious interference. Our thoughts have enormous power, much more so than we realize. And our minds largely run out of control because our thinking generally is so fast.
We're having thoughts that we aren't even aware of, so we need to get into the habit of tuning in to what's going on inside our heads. Bear in mind that everything in existence, that's right, everything that hasn't been produced by nature started off as a thought in someone's mind at some time. Anne every thought, of course, has a vibration associated with it. And the more positive the thought the higher the vibration.
So when you're setting a goal or an intention, choose your wording carefully and state it positively in the present tense and believe that it's happening right now. For example, I am the proud owner of a silver convertible Audi A 5, visualize, feel the vibration, and keep thinking about it. This is like putting in an order to the universe. Do not think, for example, I hate my current heap of tin. And just need that promotion or a better job so that I can replace it.
This is wrong on so many levels, It keeps you in the vibration of dissatisfaction and wanting It employs the when then attitude. The focus, as you have the thought, keeps your mind on the thing you don't like. Okay. So goal setting and affirmations I know I've covered before. And no doubt you've heard these ideas or different trainings on personal development, research, and so forth that you might have done. It's foundational for salespeople.
Whether they're working in teams or Anne, for employers or for themselves, or particularly so perhaps for those who are operating some kind of side hustle, such as multilevel marketing. So let's suppose you've got your goal settings sorted, and you're following all the trainings. Well, why isn't your target coming closer? Two words provide the answers. It will be 1 or both of these. Mindset and blockages.
And as I said from the start, I want to spend time discussing blockages and how to overcome them. So first, let's analyze that word. Think of a blockage in a pipe. Say under the sink. The water will not flow down the plug hole because it can't get through. For us to be fully functional in our human bodies, energy has to be able to flow freely up and down that central Anne, connecting all the chakras. Here's a simple analogy.
With a blocked sync, you would, 1st of all, pour a chemical sink unblocker on the problem. And then if that doesn't work and it's really bad, you send for a plumber. The thing is with kitchen drains, we're talking about quite a short length of pipe. And when a blockage shows up, it's pretty obvious and we can take action as soon as necessary, and the job is done quite easily.
But consider a bathroom blockage When there's an issue with the toilet Anne that stops flushing effectively Anne the water isn't going anywhere, The pipes between your house and the sewer network are comparatively long. So your plumber will probably tell you if he can't sort it out that you have to call out Dyna Rod or someone like that. Other firms are available. Okay. Enough with this analogy, but you get the you get the, the point.
The central channel is long, Anne there are lots of places where the blockages in energy flow can occur. They aren't easy to shift or even to identify. And what's more challenging is that these blockages aren't physical so you can't send for a medic or expect a hospital procedure to sort you out. So it's necessary to learn about what causes the blockages, and we're back to discussing the good old subconscious and the reptile brain. And when I learned to ski, I was already 22.
And although I was enthusiastic and willing to learn, I found it a little challenging. And on that first foray into skiing, which was only 5 days long, I never felt inclined to progress past the nursery slopes. And most of the people in my group felt the same. Because we were nearly all adults, and we weren't even accustomed to snow, but there were a few teenagers among us who were more gung ho and willing to give it a go. And what about the kids that we found ourselves mingling with?
They were fearless. For a start, they had a much shorter distance to fall Anne tumbling meant nothing to them. Anne children bounce anyway, they're used to falling over. Plus, they don't do a lot of thinking what if, sometimes I wished I'd learned to ski as a child. Our little skiing escapade was the start of a 25 day long package holiday, all around Europe. And none of us fancied being airlifted home with an arm or a leg in plaster.
So the point of that little story is that by the time we are adult, we've had some life experience. We reflect and we Anne, and frankly, sometimes, the sensible choice is to on the side of caution. Generally, kids don't think like that. They don't look for trouble, and they've probably not yet broken a bone. So they have no past experience to hold them back.
Now, at least when you're consciously weighing up the pros and cons, you are aware of what you're doing, and you recognize fear for what it is. Notice The first time, I said caution, not fear. That's language for you, but I purposely used a milder word than fear because that's what we do. We kid ourselves, but it's really fear behind the action that we're taking. Or not taking. But what about when it's our subconscious holding us back, making the decisions and not even asking for our opinion.
We don't know it's happening. Maybe this has occurred with you or someone you know. You, or they, can't seem to form a successful relationship. Everything starts off Anne, you're on a high, your relationship progresses, maybe you meet each other's parents or families, you know, depending how old you are, Anne you think, this is getting serious, or you might find yourself thinking, this is getting serious. Anne suddenly you're seeing less of each other or arguments start happening.
If you get into patterns like this, you'll know what I'm talking about. Some people are afraid of commitment. And it isn't always because they've had a bad experience in precisely that kind of situation, nor is it necessarily that the example in the house that they grew up in had set them up for failure. Blockages are also referred to as subconscious interference. You'll understand why already, and I'll have a little bit more to say about these and how they can be cleared in a moment.
But I also want to mention limiting beliefs, which we all hold, but in this case, Anne the thing has been named, you recognize either that you do or you might suffer from it Anne You're already halfway to fixing it. But limiting beliefs are ideas that we hold and probably have held for so long that we don't even remember when they began. For example, You have to work hard to earn a living. Harder work means more money. You can't progress beyond the class you were born into. I'm too old.
I haven't had the education. Men prefer tall slim blonds. I haven't got a chance. Blons have more fun even. Good people tend to be poor. It's hard for a rich man to get to heaven. And so on Anne so forth. We Have this information fed into us as we're growing up, and we don't even realize it's there.
But what about the personal limiting beliefs holding us back as individuals that come from experience, or even what we've personally been told, Before the age, even a five years old, if you don't know what they are, because they're personal to you, and they're holding you back, how do you name them? How do you identify them?
They could have arisen from some trauma you underwent, and you might well have suppressed it because that's the reptile brain again, keeping you safe, or they could come from simple thoughtless remarks made by your parents or your teachers or other people that you respected. Teachers have made statements like, you'll never amount to anything.
No one will ever take you seriously, and mothers have said, with the best of intentions, Well, you'll never get a wife or a husband if you keep doing it like that, or if you don't mend your ways, whatever, whatever, All these threats that we used to get as children, they went deep inside, and our, our wonderful subconscious has stored them up, even though our conscious brain has totally forgotten them.
So whatever is holding you back, from what you want to achieve, just because it's, or in the mind, quote, unquote, doesn't mean that it isn't real. I have trainings available to show you how these blockages can be cleared, but it's not the sort of thing that can be discussed in a brief podcast.
I can tell you that it involves belly breathing and central channel breathing, you might have guessed as much, but that there's a whole procedure, there's a position that you can get the body into, Anne it's almost like magic because these subconscious blockages can actually be dealt with without you're even identifying what the issue is. And that's great. That absolutely gives us all hope. I was so delighted when I found out about this. I've been working on myself, of Corbin.
