So I was asked a great question. What's the difference between Quality of Mind and spirituality? And maybe that question was asked because people have seen, or the person has seen that Quality of Mind seems to point to some things that are a little bit abstract or some things that sound a little spiritual. Now. Of course the real answer to that question. Depends what you mean and think spirituality is.
But if we take a common view, that spirituality is when people are thinking there's something more than themselves, there's something bigger. There's a oneness as a universe, there's something wider and broader and more eternal than themselves. Now at that level, Quality of Mind is similar to spirituality because it is pointing to us being able to be, to see some thing and recognize that we are more than just what appears in our body mind. So, absolutely.
Yes. Now where it's very different it's spirituality of course has lots of different forms and types and gurus and teachings and Quality of Mind isn't really interested in any of those. And it isn't interested in it just being a philosophical, almost abstract, esoteric inquiry. Quality of Mind is all about recognizing something very fundamental about what we are. And what we're not. And then allowing us to recognize and see what that means for our day-to-day lives. Our work, our business.
Our, how we turn up in the world, our performance, our potential, our creativity, our resilience, our mental health. Uh, our performance, our inspiration. So it goes from very profound to the very practical.
Now it does share a few ideas or similar themes to spirituality in that the numb of Quality of Mind is all about 'Direct Inquiry', which is what can you see when you take yourself out of your normal thinking mind and particularly the direct or indirect path might point to that, but it doesn't share any of the other sort of barriers to entry, needing to absolve yourself of anything or anything like that.
And that's why when we describe Quality of Mind, we don't actually use the word spirtual we talk about 'Before Psychology' because that's a more accurate description of what we're pointing people to see. We're pointing people to see what is essential about us. As the nature of thought and consciousness and what we are.
And how then is that useful? What are the implications of that? Once we've woken up to that and realize, and recognize that for our day to day life, So the answer, the question is it's not the same at all. And actually it's quite similar. Now that may or may not help you, if you want to know more than check out our other videos and podcasts on what do we explore with before psychology and then you'll see, it can be quite different.
To spirituality, particularly if you've come from an intellectual academic or practice driven approach, and the indirect path to spirituality. Hope that's helpful and keep bringing in these great questions.
