Episode description

“Fearlessly bonkers” is how director Paul Wilmshurst described Kill the Moon, a — shall we say ambitious? — episode of Doctor Who that presumes the moon we see shining in the sky every night is actually an enormous egg. Yes. Hold on… how did we not notice it’s made of eggshell? How does the moon “put on weight” so quickly that it has the same gravity of Earth? Why would the “bacteria” protecting it look and behave exactly like giant spiders? Best not to ask such questions and simply run down the needlessly exploding moonbase corridor with everybody else. If you can get past the bizarro premise, Kill the Moon actually has some of the more definitive moments between the 12th Doctor and Clara. But is that amniotic juice worth the lunar squeeze? Let’s hitch a ride on a rickety space shuttle to find out.

Commentary on Kill the Moon begins at 15:38.
