Episode description
In today's episode of Psych Talk I discuss the connection between trauma and eating disorders. I start the episode by discussing various types of eating disorders and the factors that may contribute to the development of an eating disorder. I then define what trauma is and discuss the relationship between eating disorders and trauma. In this discussion I highlight the concept of minority stress and eating disorders, the functional relationship between trauma and eating disorders, as well as clinical characteristics of both trauma and eating disorders. I finish out the episode by discussing treatment, both for trauma and eating disorders, how to integrate the two, and effectiveness of such.
