In asking procurement professionals through a series of surveys, if they had to do it all over again, would they choose procurement as a career more than 50 per cent said no. What was even more telling was the fact that a good percentage of those who responded to the surveys were in the profession for less than three years.

Organisations today must demonstrate in principle and practice how procurement is no longer an adjunct function of finance with the sole mandate of acquiring goods and services at the best cost.

In this lecture, Kelly Barner talks about the steps your organisation must take to update its internal dialogue regarding procurement’s strategic importance to the enterprise to attract the best and the brightest candidates.
