Obesity has reached epidemic levels in the U.S., and it is a contributor to the development of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obstructive sleep apnea, some forms of cancer, and many other diseases. It is imperative that primary care clinicians incorporate obesity care into their medical practice. This presentation will address a practical and time efficient approach for the assessment of patients with obesity and help to formulate a treatment plan. The medical paradigm of lifestyle management, pharmacotherapy, and bariatric surgery will be reviewed along with guidance on how to intensify therapy when indicated.
