Overview: Shingles, or herpes zoster (HZ), is a common secondary infection. More than 95% of immunocompetent individuals aged > 50 years are seropositive for the varicella zoster virus (VZV) and are at risk of developing shingles. This podcast series will address the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and complications of shingles, in addition to the strategies to prevent it.
