Episode description

Overview: An elevated fasting blood glucose (FBG) is the hall mark of prediabetes. Fasting blood glucose increases approximately 1 mg/dl per year as a prediabetic. While it can take years for a person to develop type 2 diabetes from prediabetes, weight gain, sedentary lifestyle, illness, or stress, can accelerate this process. This presentation will discuss the prevalence and progression of prediabetes, as well as the most effective strategies to prevent the development of type 2 diabetes.

Guest: John A. Tayek, M.S., M.D., FACN, FACP
