In a special 20th Anniversary event for the Kingdom Hearts series held in Japan today, Square Enix has unveiled the franchise’s next mainline title, titled Kingdom Hearts 4. Capping off a video montage highlighting the future of Kingdom Hearts, the nearly three-minute trailer showcases some stunning visuals and sets a darker and somewhat more realistic art direction. The BAFTA Games Awards event has come and gone once again, and in its 18th year has celebrated the excellence of the last year of gaming with some top-notch titles being awarded. Crystal Dynamics has announced that a brand new Tomb Raider game is on the way. Development has only just started but the team is using Unreal Engine 5 to build the game which will result in next-level story telling and gameplay experiences. The studio went on to say that it is their goal to “push the envelope of fidelity and to deliver the high quality cinematic action adventure experience that fans deserve from the Tomb Raider franchise”. Thank god this wasn't announced on April Fools' Day as it's almost too good to believe. Devolver Digital and LucasFilm has today announced that Return to Monkey Island is releasing later this year. it's a sequel to Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2 and it's being created by the incredible Ron Gilbert. It feels like it’s been an age since we’ve seen a multi-game update to Nintendo Switch Online’s retro database, especially for those still on the standard subscription sans N64 and Mega Drive titles. After being digital for the last two years, the ESA has confirmed that E3 has been fully cancelled in 2022. As was rumoured earlier this week, PlayStation has announced it’s expanded PlayStation Plus subscription service. It’s still PlayStation Plus but it now will be split into three tiers come June 2022. According to a fresh report on Bloomberg, PlayStation’s long-rumoured answer to Xbox Game Pass could be revealed sooner than we think. Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 6 is free to play from today until March 29th on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. PlayStation has announced that a new PS5 system update is dropping today and has finally given an update on VRR, which is said to be coming in the “coming months”. Illfonic, the developers behind games such as Friday The 13th and Predator Hunting Grounds have today announced Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. It has finally happened. Nintendo has just dropped Nintendo Switch Update 14.0.0 and after five years, we finally have support for folders, or as Nintendo are calling them “groups”. You’re able to create up to 100 groups with a max of 200 games per group. As far as we can say, there’s no limit to which games you can add to groups and you’re able to name them whatever you like. Almost two years after the game was revealed we finally got an extensive look at the new Harry Potter game, Hogwarts Legacy this morning, with 15 minutes of gameplay footage showing off everything from spells, to enemies, to the incredible open world. Unfortunately no release date was given outside of Holiday 2022, although we feel a lot more confident about that now given how much gameplay footage we saw this morning. Hot off the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus last month, The Pokémon Company has just announced Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet releasing for the Nintendo Switch. Late last night two of March’s PlayStation Plus games leaked and now the whole lineup has been revealed. Those on PS5 will be able to get Ghostrunner (a fantastic game) whilst those on both PS4 and PS5 will be able to get Ark Survival Evolved, Team Sonic Racing and Ghost of Tsushima Legends (the multiplayer mode). It looks like the PlayStation VR2 details are going to start coming in thick and fast. PlayStation has today revealed the PlayStation VR2 headset design, final PlayStation VR2 Sense controller design as well as a bunch of new details. Capcom’s countdown has ended and they have just announced that Street Fighter 6 is officially on the way. A short 40 second teaser trailer was shown off featuring Ryu as well as Street Fighter 5’s Luke. Whilst the teaser trailer doesn’t reveal a whole lot, it does look to be taking a more realistic graphical approach, likely using the RE Engine that is most known for use with the more recent Resident Evil games. Activision has confirmed that this year’s Call of Duty game is a sequel to Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019). The game is being developed by Infinity Ward and it will utilise a brand new engine. Nintendo has announced the first Nintendo Direct of 2022. It’ll take place on Thursday morning and last 40 minutes focusing “mainly” on Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of 2022.
