Ray Keating talks about the reasons why people become entrepreneurs, and shows how those reasons often apply to why people choose to become authors. Keating notes that when he taught an MBA course on innovation and entrepreneurship, he looked at why people became entrepreneurs. Not surprisingly, the entrepreneurial impulse and the author impulse can be quite similar, and often overlap.
