The unity of the church is an often-disputed topic that has elicited numerous opinions from theologians and church officials about how to achieve it. In this text, we see how the gospel of Christ is the ground of the church's unity in him – unity is therefore not something we accomplish through our own efforts, but something Christ bestows on the church as a gift.
