But anyways, let me just get on with it. Welcome to Prokriti Sessions 500 Whoa. There you have it, not even sure how to react. PS500 in full effect. We're here, who would have known? Ten years, almost ten years later. Your weekly dose of uplifting electronic music. Started July twenty eleven with episode zero zero one.
I've been doing it ever since. Cross continents. Literally. Moved from the US to Nepal in twenty fourteen. Survived an earthquake and a pandemic. And they blockade somewhere in between. There have been a lot of ups and downs on this journey, but we're still here thanks to your support. Like I mentioned earlier, Prakriti Sessions.
For just a weekly uplifting electronic music radio show, but also a fundraiser for the education of underprivileged children in Nepal. Needless to say, stay tuned and I'll tell you more So what do we have in store for PS five hundred tonight? Well I'm sure you already know. It's the continuation of the history lesson, which we started on PS100. It was back in 2013. Started that history lesson with nineteen eighty three. And a hundred episodes at a time, we're now at two thousand five.
So let's get started, a very warm welcome to PS500. We are in the mix with Prakriti. Oh man, brings back a lot of good memories. 2005 Where were you in 2005? Fifteen well sixteen years ago. Hidden Logic presents luminary wasting. Good old seven minute record. They don't make him like that anymore. If you just joined us, welcome to Prakriti Sessions, episode five hundred, a milestone broadcast this evening.
Celebrating almost ten years of this radio show. Started July twenty eleven. And I've been going strong weekly ever since then, thanks to your support, of course. Not just a weekly uplifting electronic music radio show, but also a fundraiser for the education. We have a lot of time tonight. Or so I hope. As you may have guessed, these sentry broadcasts are uh at least four hours. Anything under wouldn't do it any justice. Right.
Let's see how far we'll go this year. The further we progress, the less we progress. If you know what I mean. Episode four hundred, the last uh history lesson broadcast. I think I was able to Go only over two years. Two thousand three and two thousand four. Touched upon two thousand five, that's where we left off. That's the we're starting with this broadcast. But like I mentioned earlier, it all started on episode 100.
We were about two years into the broadcast, and uh we needed to do something special. That's when the idea dawned on me. The history of electronic dance music. How my affinity towards it great. 1983, the eurythmic sweep That's how we start episode one hundred. Check it out. You can do so at procriti.com. Where all previous broadcasts of this radio show are archived. We end the four hour broadcast of episode one hundred at around the turn of the millennium.
and continue that history lesson two years later over episode two hundred. I just checked in on episode 200, we hardly progress a year. Yeah, so many good tunes. called the golden age of trance. And PS three hundred and four hundred we made some progress. And that's why we're here tonight on 500 in the year 2005. I know exactly what two words are on your mind right now. Universal religion. Two thousand four live from Armada had Ibiza. And that started a new trend in compilations.
Live sets recorded and packaged as uh Commercial compilations Armin Van Buren Universal Religion Chapter two. Probably listened to this set a thousand times fifteen years ago. He starts that live set with this record. Of course the very powerful synergy and hello strings. What an awesome tune. Thank you for tuning in this weekend to a very special broadcast of Prakriti Sessions. He said personally compiled and mixed by me Prati, as always. We turned into episode five hundred.
Celebrating almost ten years of this weekly uplifting electronic music radio show, which is also Which is also a fundraiser for the education of underprivileged children in Nepal. I have so much more to tell you, but as always so little time. Should I have more time over these tracks uh from fifteen years ago. Displayed for you a reconstruction. I don't think I uh I ever got my hands on the uh original extended
Two thousand five was the year when things were still a little informal. These days everything's so uniform. Mastered, normalized. Back then most final rips were Done at home. Oh how times have changed. Inclusive of how I'm transitioning at the present, honestly I'm struggling a little So used to making my transitions over 30 seconds uh max one minute these days. But with these seven eight minute records Ninety second transitions are normal, I guess. Here we go, PS five hundred.
Pretty sessions, episode number five zero zero. Approaching ten years. We'll complete ten years in July. July fourth weekend that is Hope you're doing well during this pandemic. I don't know if it's getting worse or if it's getting better. I'd like to think it's getting better. But then folks are talking about the second wave. Where poverty levels are at an all time high. And education penetration at an all time low. Like our four schools in Sarlahi, the south of the Pal de Tarai, province number two.
Where we touched the lives of over two thousand. Underprivileged. Those schools have been in operation for the last twenty plus years or so. Started in a cow shed, believe it or not. High school matriculation at uh Ninety percent plus ever since uh we started generating graduates. Not a hundred percent over the last uh five years in a row now. How awesome is that? We were one of the first schools in the region to uh reopen our doors during the pandemic.
with hundred percent outside learning, social distancing in an otherwise already remote area. Not too many people come and go there. So it's so to speak isolated. My last trip to Satellite before the pandemic was in march twenty twenty. I think just six days before the lockdown started. That was pretty surreal. And then we finally made our way back down there again at the end of November. Beginning of December. So it hasn't been too long. An eight month hiatus. A lot of catching up to do.
Lots of projects on hold, but thanks to the power of Google Meet and Zoom. We actually Talking about our volunteer network sprawled across the globe. Mayushma and her team in the US.
