Mining for (Information) Gold

If you’re not out there listening to podcasts beyond this one or signing up for every webinar or reading every piece of Wikipedia, you should start. Back in the early 2000s, I discovered OCW (at MIT). It was the leading technical university’s attempt to make their incredible curricula available to anyone in the world. They started an educational revolution few knew about. Unfortunately, they weren’t good at digital like I am (or cared to be). Regardless, they are a great example of the many amaz...

The NEW "Superhighway" of Business

These days, obtaining the most valuable real estate in the biggest cities isn't necessarily your key to business success. Historically, it would have been wise to plant your organization in front of tons of cars that may see your business -- you could consider it a 2 for 1 deal where being visible from highly trafficked streets could almost act as a billboard. However, these days, the "places to be" are where people are "headed" (or searching) when it comes to anything from academia to weather. ...

Make sure you know the answer before speaking

In an incredible get together last night over zoom, I met these great personalities on “SEO Beer” which used to be “in person” in Seattle, but now with Covid, we’re able to do virtually. I found that maybe I went a little too “overboard” with one answer and hopefully, it’s a good reminder to ask and confirm — even if the person is asking themselves.

Don’t protect your children (completely)

Mothers out there may have me for preaching this and I know my mom would have fought me on this. Also, friend Melissa and I just moved to help our children fulfill their dreams, but we must all do everything for them with a caveat: you need them to grow partially, if not a lot on their own. We need to let go.

Dogmatism be “Matism”

We should give all the current and future “ma”s out there parity when it comes to anything. It’s long overdue. Even if our figures daughters and little girls do NOT want to become mothers, they should have at least an equal chance as their male peers. Let’s ALL support “matism” and frankly gender equity. It’s unfortunate it hasn’t been a focus - rather it hasn’t been a REAL focus. If it was, we would be much closer to achieving it.

Paying it forward really does work

In life, I’ve questioned whether being kind to others was “worth it.” It was honestly stupid of me questioning it, but it was natural for me to do so because I was struggling myself. How could I help others despite this natural inclination to help? Today, I share why it’s important that you should never lose faith in your “nature” because it can come back to you in droves.
