Their mission is to support, nurture and encourage high standards of ethical, science-backed, non-coercive, and effective methods of training for gundogs in the UK. They aim to build an extensive network of like-minded, qualified Gundog Trainers to fulfill the demand for ethical gundog training for shooting, for competition, and for pleasure.

GTA offers educational courses in practical and theoretical formats with a final assessment process that accredits teachers to become GTA Instructors. Handler-only courses are devised to improve and extend upon gundog handling skills to owners and trainers by delving deeper into the learning process and applying it to fieldwork. The GTA is a member of ABTC & PPG.
