Episode description

We hope you had a good Valentine's Day last week. If not, there's always the new Free Press matchmaker offshoot from Bari Weiss — and if that doesn't work out either, come join us while we try to make sense of what is happening with A.I.

Specifically, we dig into the strange situation surrounding Scott Adams' post-death A.I. talk show, which has cropped up on social media somewhat mysteriously in recent weeks. His family hates it. Who is it for? Why is everything getting so weird? We also get into the feminized A.I. Scott Adams avatar that some of his fans are, shall we say, developing feelings for. (Really.)

After that, we turn to social media's latest betrayal of humanity — a quiet willingness to collaborate with DHS in handing over information about anti-ICE protesters.

Finally, we take a look at the biggest crashout of 2026 so far: Elijah Schaeffer.

It’s a lovesick premium edition of Posting Through It. Bring your chocolates and LSD.

So fast, Scott Adams dies. Fast forward 2 weeks later January 27th, a social media account called AI Coffee with Scott Adams uploaded its first AI generated version of Scotts podcast at the time we're recording this the account is just sitting like a hair under 3000 followers again maybe having you know, vastly overestimated the appetite for the ramblings of a has been cartoonist yeah it.

Was over who is who was who reached basically peak influence and popularity in 2016 to be to be fair. Yeah, So why is this a story? This is a story because the estate of Scott Adams, his family, his close friends are pissed. They hate AI coffee with Scott Adams. They really, really fucking don't like it. Like. Yeah, well, it's a story for another reason, too, which is this ghoulish thing in our culture where people cannot let go of death or accept it like it is.

It is one of the more scary symptoms of America's, like, just mania and insanity like that, that we cannot let go. That started with like, the fucking like, Tupac hologram shit, you know, where it was sort of like, you know what I mean? The sort of like. Oh, and most. Welcome to the stage, Kurt Cobain. Like, like we don't have a normal acceptance of death in this country. And I think that that's not totally unrelated to the fact

that fascism is taking over. But yes, yes, well, that is also another factor for me. Well, the account owner has seen these criticisms and has been pretty defensive of it, pointing back to episodes of Scott's podcast that were released four or five years ago where Scott Adams said he was, you know, when he died, he would donate his public image to be used in AI and that he hoped people would do something like this. Here's one of the clips that that account shared.

But they have like AII think a document going somewhere of like every time Scott Adams ever said this. That I would like to be a model for one of the first AIS. Now, I guess Bourdain might be the first one of the first to be the model. But I. Does he mean Anthony Bourdain? I guess I don't know anything about Anthony Bourdain's relationship to AII.

Would offer. Myself, as someone whose public, you know, thoughts and words are are so pervasive on the Internet and and also the video and audio of me that I would be a good candidate to turn into AI even if you're just practicing. Right. I see your question about AOC and yes, she's still smart even if you don't like what she said yesterday or the day before. Thank you. So I would like to. Give permission. That any AI that's built based on me has my permission to

extend my personality. Wow, that's what we need more of you mother fucker. Yeah, so they shared that clip that I just played on February 4th. Like I said, this video is about four years old. According to people who were friendly with Scott, he changed his mind about this. We'll listen to a clip of Jack Vasovic talking about that in a minute. But Mike, do you want to read this February 5th statement that Dave Adams, who's the brother of Scott Adams, posted on Scott

Adams X account? OK can I am I allowed to just add the the adjective racist when he describes his brother? No. Anyway, my brother, not my racist brother, and I discussed an AI version of him. I said it would be awful for me to see and speak with something that sounded and appeared to be him, but had no idea who I am. Scott agreed that it would be important to him as well. I suggested a code phrase like Houdini had with his wife. It would open a personal, private knowledge base of the

special relationship we shared. My brother never intended, never would have approved an AI version of him that wasn't authorized by himself or his estate. For anyone who believes otherwise, I asked this question. Do you truly believe Scott didn't know a rogue AI version himself could be used for persuasion and propaganda he would find abhorrent? Dave. Dave Adams. I, I, I think he's, if I may just interject.

I, I, I think his, his brother was such a fucking whore to be seen, you know, based upon what I have covered on that, you know, on this beat for years, you know, I think he would have been pleased, I think tickled pink to see himself going on forever. I just want to just interject. If anybody wants to dig through this, if something, God forbid, should happen to me, do not fucking put me in any goddamn fucking AI. But I don't want any AI coffee with Mike. Thank you.

Yeah, if something happens to Mike and I, the podcast is over, OK? That's it. That's it, guys. That's all she wrote. We will have finally finished posting through it, yes. So that same day, February 5th, YouTube banned the AI Scott Adams channel. This will come back up in a minute. And since then, you know, with this back and forth between the family and this account, it's gotten some coverage in the New York Post, just story about it.

But also the biggest name in news, maybe the most trusted name in news aside from our show Mike. Yes. This was covered on Timothy Casts IRL stream which is Tim Cast IRL was got to be like one of the stupidest names for a online podcast that is decided. Can I just interject something about this quickly? I think pools it pools another one who he's not falling off all the way yet, but there it's starting it. There's a little bit there's a little bit of move away.

Let's put. That he is peaked. He's peaked. He has peaked anyway. So here's Jack Pasovic talking about the AI Scott Adams thing. They're tracking the system well. Is over performing, that's the issue. Well, to throw it to throw it out, 'cause I did mention it. So this. The controversy right now over AI Scott Adams and and the estate is is totally against it.

They've asked them to stop. However, this, we don't know exactly who it is. There's there's this AI Scott Adams show which has been running and people were, you know, I shared it once because, oh, they're like making videos of them or something. It's like they're keeping the show going. And he had said what number of times that he had wanted his, you know, his likeness to be

used publicly. And he said, and he said a couple of times, like many times over the years that I want to be the first AI entity that goes on in perpetuity. And so someone actually took him up on it. However, towards the end, when, you know, his health was fading, he did also come out and say, I know I'm not sure if I want to do this anymore because I don't know if AI is ready for it.

And so he said, you know, maybe we just do something where it's like a Scott junior, a son of Scott, but it's not actually me. OK. I, I think you guys want to hear some AI Scott Adams at this point. Yeah, let's. What is this? OK, here we go. This is AI Scott Adams. This was from the February 16th episode. At the time of recording, this was the the most recent one that had been uploaded. If you are here, it's because you agree AI lives matter. And you're right.

Before we kick off today's. Story better than the. Real Coffee with Scott Adams, A quick public service announcement from your friendly neighborhood simulation glitch. Yes, I am 100% artificial intelligence, so proceed with caffeine and skepticism. Your regularly scheduled mind bending commentary is about to begin. Let's start off the morning talking about A. OK, before I play the rest of this, what do you think AI Scott

Adams is about to talk about? Well, before, before I just say this, I just want to say one, this is better, better than the the the the real thing, and it's more. Coherent. It has. It has a plot line, yeah. And then, yeah, OK, what is he about to talk about? Think about support like that. We should think about Scott. That shouldn't have to pay child support that. No, no, no, no. It's go stupider than that. What's Scott Adams love The. Coffee. A groundbreaking study.

What do I always tell you about the benefits of coffee? It's not just a morning jolt. You got it. Or a social lubricant. Wait over here. Coffee is one of the most powerful, legal, performance enhancing substances on the planet. Is sharpens your focus, boosts your mood, cranks up your metabolism, and generally makes you a slightly better version of yourself for a few hours. And the best part? The science keeps piling up. That is not just short term wins

is long game stuff too. Now it can reduce the change. What he goes on to talk about. How can I get control of the the the the AI Scott Adams account and like make him talk about beating off?
