Episode description

"It's OK to not be OK." -Michael Phelps

These were the exact words Michael Phelps used when commenting on fellow Olympian athlete Simone Biles after she withdrew from team and individual Olympic events citing mental health.

This same Michael Phelps who is the most decorated Olympic athlete in history - winning 23 gold medals - and who is very open about his own struggles with mental health. In fact, before the 2016 Rio Olympics, Phelps talked in particular about his struggle with depression, which was so debilitating he didn't even want to get out of bed or leave his rooms for days on end...."I didn't want to be alive anymore."

I can relate! In fact, I was in the same place in my own life 7 years ago - losing the will to live. My rock-bottom!

Mental health is something that affects all of us. And in this episode, I talk about my own journey battling mental health and outline specific ways to help others who are going through similar challenges.

The most important thing to remember; You're not alone, and it's OK to not be OK.
