Episode description

Welcome to another edition of PoPolitickin. In this episode, we politick with San Diego rapper Baby Slick.

Baby Slick is a promising young artist from the unforgiving streets of Southeast San Diego. His journey into the world of music can be traced back to the confines of a tiny California jail cell in 2016. It was there, at the age of 17, that Baby Slick picked up a pen and pad simply because there was nothing else to do. He began channeling his experiences in the urban trenches to tell the story that his brother, Lil’ Slick, had never got to finish telling before his untimely death in 2013.

Although he had been writing for over a year, it wasn’t until Baby Slick’s release in April 2017 that he decided to really take his craft seriously. At that point, he found a studio and went straight to work. His introduction to the hip-hop scene came with the release of “Kan’t Trust,” which he wrote while incarcerated. Since then, he’s pumped out an assortment of songs and videos building up to the release of his first mixtape “Forever106.”

Despite only being a few months into his newfound career, Baby Slick has already captured the attention of many, and he won’t stop until he finishes what his brother started.
