Episode description

A group of smart, funny friends meet together every week to talk about the book they’re reading—a book that just so happens to be incredibly buzzy and in the zeitgeist because it has a big screen adaptation coming up. Because when everyone at work is talking about it, we want to be the smug ones who can say we actually read the book first.

It feels like so many books these days are getting the Hollywood treatment, and I am one of those people that has to read the book before I watched the movie. This is Danis Schwartz, host of the brand new podcast Popcorn book Club. I talked four of my smartest and funniest friend into starting a book club with me. We read super buzzy books and talk about them every week. My theory for this book is, I think he's going to go off to New York become an investment banker. Mary.

The first model he means is that he was going to get an m f a In writing and then write the book about them, and then she reads. It's also like a multicam sitcom, Like that's the premise of most jokes, Like two people talking about different things and they think, like I thought we were talking about grocery shopping, but I'm talking about how I want to have sex with you, and it's like, well that eggs means something different. Before we go into the rest of the book, can

we just all say our favorite ruffalo. My ruffalo is from Eternal Sunshine of the Spot the Glasses. Yes, yeah, it's a solid ruffalo. Read the book along with us or don't know pressure this is an English class. We won't tell. We're talking. I know this much as true by Wally Lamb. They Hate You Give by Angie Thomas. So many more awesome books, all of them becoming movies or TV series that then we watch and also judge and talk about. We start June twenty nine with Normal

People by Sally Rooney. Oh my god, if you haven't read it, you are absolutely going to love it. Irish teens in love, totally irresistible. You might fall in love with Connall. And if you watch the TV show I'm telling you now Marion is going to make you want to cut your own bangs. Don't do it. Trust me, it's a mistake. So June, listen to Popcorn Book Club on the I Heart Radio app, on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
