Episode description

Democratic lawmakers in five states are pushing utilities to disclose how they vote on critical grid issues at PJM Interconnection, a 13-state regional power market. They say more transparency could help states’ clean energy goals and potentially bring down prices for consumers, but utilities say their process is justified. POLITICO’s Catherine Morehouse breaks down why lawmakers are looking for change and whether it’s politically viable. Plus, the European Union announced it aims to slash greenhouse gas emissions by 90 percent by 2040.
