Episode description

Join me and Irshad for a wonderful conversation, where we both nudge and challenge each other. Despite some pretty fundamental differences (belief vs. disbelief), Irshad has always been an inspiration to me. She is someone I admire a great deal, even if we don't always agree. In her compassion and open mindedness towards others with differing viewpoints she sets an excellent example on how we can build bridges. Her warmth towards and solidarity with Ex Muslims is something we desperately need more of!Coming from an atheist perspective, I still realise that not everyone can be realistically expected to abandon belief and religion... for that reason, I think supporting genuine, honest reformists is incredibly important. We need people both leading the way outside the framework of religion and also those carving out a more modern path within that framework. Through these combined methods we can begin to chip away at fundamentalism and orthodoxy.Irshad's books are available here: https://www.amazon.ca/Irshad-Manji-Books/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=n%3A916520%2Cp_27%3AIrshad%20ManjiWe mention a clip from Irshad's wedding : https://www.facebook.com/pg/irshadmanji/videos/?ref=page_internal Find out more about the Moral Courage Project here: http://moralcourage.com/
