Episode description

Speaking with reporters are Nada El-Falou (director of Student Services at Palestinian Students and Scholars at Risk Network), Sean Tucker (professor at the University of Regina’s faculty of business administration), Saleha Faruqued (advocacy programs manager at Justice for All Canada), and Sherif Awad (Ottawa lead at the Canadian Muslim Public Affairs Council).

Representatives from Action Canada, the Guttmacher Institute, and the Future Planning Initiative hold a news conference in Ottawa to raise concerns about Canada’s proposed cuts to international assistance and the impact they would have on sexual and reproductive health.

Representatives from the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights (RWCHR), alongside parliamentarians and Iranian civil society leaders, call on the Canadian government to lead “coordinated international action and strengthened enforcement measures” against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The news conference comes after the European Union designated the IRGC as a terrorist organization over its response to recent protests.
  • Thursday, in Brussels, EU foreign ministers adopted a terrorism listing that places the IRGC under the EU terrorism framework, with officials calling it a decisive step.
  • Lobbying and deadly crackdowns spurred the decision, with EU foreign ministers citing brutal repression and a letter describing an estimated 12,000 Iranian protesters killed, while a bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers urged action.
  • The IRGC operates as a state institution overseeing ballistic missile and nuclear programs, and adding it to the EU terror list requires unanimity among 27 members, raising legal questions.
  • Mohammad Fathali, Iranian Ambassador to India, called the EU move a strategic miscalculation ignoring realities and international law, while Iran's Parliament declared involved armed forces terrorist and warned of destructive consequences.
  • Amid wider tensions, officials warned the step could worsen regional instability and hit European interests, as the EU's unprecedented listing exposes divisions among member states and raises legal challenges, with Abbas Araghchi criticising the move.

Speaker 1

Here o Israel, the Lord, our God. The Lord is the one Love, the Lord your God. With all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children, Talk about them when you sit at home, and when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hand, and bind them on your forefingers. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Speaker 2

You know, Lord, are you are forgiving and good?

Speaker 3

I'm bounding is your love? And you all to call on you something that we need to remember it, then, Goddess full of forgiveness, and that if we follow his laws we find forgiveness, and that we should also follow the follow those laws, those tendants to unbounding love, to unconditional love that we all can share with our brothers and sisters, as well as we're sharing that with God himself.

And there are many out there there that they want us to be divided and to hate one another, and to look at each other's differences as though there were well, if he's different, there must be something wrong. God created is differently, but all in his image. See what we forget because we're men or shall we say human, let's go with human sounds a book better that when we

forget as humans, that God's image is infinite. God's image would include the black holes, the planets, all those celestial objects that we see out in the vastness of space, as well as what we see on our own little planet, our own little rock, in this great and vast universe, this miracle of creation that we have that we are experiencing. That there's such a large, vastness of what God's image looks like that our minds can't even wrap around it.

None of us can understand the bounding of a particle of light. It is over fourteen billion years old, but and yet that particle of light is still part of God. Many say that, oh, you can't hold it, hold up for science and believe in God at the same time.

Speaker 2

But my friends are going to tell you.

Speaker 3

My brothers and sisters, that that's exactly.

Speaker 2

What we should be looking to do.

Speaker 3

So we can question and enjoy and observe and be grateful for all of the pictures that God is presenting to us of himself. So that when we look out at the cosmos and we see all of the wonderful lights shows the things that are happening out there. We know that they that they are touched by God. And yes, there are laws of physics that govern these things. Well, stop looking at them as simply as the laws of physics. Think about the laws of physics as being laws that

God created. Because when we look at at well, let's say Newton's law of motion that an object will remain in motion until an equal and opposite force stops it. Well, where does that where? You tell me where that changes? Where does that? Where in the universe does that law of motion change? You see, God's laws don't change, They stay the same. Man's laws will vary from place to place,

country to country. You can't escape God's laws. God's laws were created along with the vascens of the universe that we actually see, and some of those studying some of those laws are also part of science. Remembering that the word science only means to question something, to study it.

It doesn't mean to eliminate God from the picture. It means to look closer at the picture and try to understand it has nothing at all to do with building a technology that would be superior to any of God's Well, anything that would hold belief in God has nothing to do with that.

Speaker 2

It only has to do.

Speaker 3

With questioning everything that you see. And yes you are, you're questioning God himself. You're asking why is it the way it is? And how does it act?

Speaker 2

She work?

Speaker 3

And yes, God doesn't answer those questions. So going back to people and systems that people have created. Governments have created some of those things that have been created to one make it easier for us to study and learn, or some of those things are being used by some people to try to fill us with hatred, and they want us to think that it is easier and better to look at our other brothers sisters that we look different than we do. I think that there's something wrong

with them that God couldn't have created them. But I want you to understand something that those who want to fill us with hate have to work much harder to keep that hate going than it is to love each other. It is easier to try to understand the differences between.

Speaker 2

The two of us.

Speaker 3

Than it is to try to hate those differences between the two of us. In the end, it takes us energy to understand all of those things around us then to throw up walls of hatred. That is the one thing that the people who preach this hatred for God. Take a path that is going to elongate your life. Take the path of love. That love energy brings us together, That love energy extends our lives. That love energy makes it so that we can learn, understand, and build something that we all want.

Speaker 2

And build for ourselves, not for.

Speaker 3

Some other greed filled, hatred filled entity.

Speaker 2

Filling our hearts is love brings us warmth.

Speaker 4

And good feelings, and that's ultimately what we want.

Speaker 3

We want our hearts to be filled with things that bring us journey, long lasting joy, long things that extend pass the wanting of stuff, things that fulfill our spirit, to fulfill our purpose. So followed the path leads to an unbounding love, a love that leads us back to our creator, God, the very entity of itself that created everything we see.

Speaker 2

That created us. So that we can see, observe and love what we what is around us. We should pray onnact.

Speaker 3

Lord, let us fulfill our hearts with love. Help us to understand everyone, every being that is around us. To help us to understand and to question all those pictures.

Speaker 2

That we see as we walk in your hands.

Speaker 3

Help us to learn about what your love can create. Help us to create your love. Help us to understand why we see the vastness of the universe and at the same time.

Speaker 2

We see the.

Speaker 3

Quietness of all the life that is around us. Help us to continue to fill our hearts with your love. Okay.
