Hello and welcome back to Nampara. Hello. Hello. I just hope that I say hello. Well hello you too. The recap podcast of BBC's drama pulled up. My name's Christina and with me is Jana. Yeah. Yeah. Today we're gonna be discussing episode six. Season one We're getting so close to the end of the season. Yeah. So things are steaming up in the series. Yes, they are. Lots of different little stories and twists and turns. Mm.

Francis's New Reality and Struggles

Opens up, you know, you see a scything scene and you think, Oh, is Ross scything again? Is he scything again? No wants Francis. It's so disappointing. Oh and what's worse is he's a Huge baby. Major baby. Oh my hey. He has to do a little bit of work. He has to do some yard work. He's well well about it. He's such a wuss. He is. And then do you see it was interesting'cause you know, Elizabeth's is being the

used to being the lady of the house and she's out there with that basket and her hair looks like my hair on any given day. Like Ruly. The f still full and curly and lovely. Yes. So he's he's not enjoying his reality um check of what he's having to do now. Is actually working hard. Right. He's actually having to yeah. Earn his money a little bit. Well I guess he's not earning his money, but he's having to do stuff.

Right. And he gambled away a lot of his money so now he has to work. It's his own fault. He's not irritated and Ross is coming saying do I if I could help you with anything or do anything for you? And it's he's such a baby'cause it's his own fault. No one to blame but himself.

You know, it's interesting this is the part where you dislike him very much because he is a spoiled brat. I mean his character changes a little on and you get a little b have a little bit more compassion for him. But right now he's not. Right now he's just annoying. Yeah, he's very annoying.

And so we have a little bit about um that Carnmark Copper Company, because that has a lot to do with later on the drama that unfolds between George and Francis and a conversation they have And George wiggling his way into that conversation with the brother.

Keren's Romantic Schemes Unfold

But the scene where Mark is uh feeding that bird for Karen. Yes. I thought it was kinda cute. I was like, I want to like birdie. Would you like your boyfriend? To fetch a bird and help him learn how to eat out of your out of your hand. A squirrel. There could be worse things. Yes, little bird. He's simple minded a little bit. She knew that.

Mm-hmm. She's got roving eyes. She sure does. For Dr. Ennis. And you can tell that Mark g is worried because he's he kinda ti re describes himself as not being a scholarly chap. So you know he's kinda Check in to feel like what she's feeling, whether she would be like, Oh no, I love you anyway but there's no reassurance there at all. So he's not that unintelligent. Yeah, yeah. Yep. And then Mark leaves weight and you notice that um Doctor Ennis rides by

And then you think that was intentional? Of course. Really? You think he's interested in her? Oh, him going by? No, no, her like oh her, yeah. But it did say that he loved her. Remember that later on when he's with Caroline? Like he said something about how he loved her. Oh, did he? I hope he didn't. Oh god. Yeah. Uh I could be wrong, but I felt like he kinda declared that later on in some of one of the seats. See, I don't remember that. Now I now I'm looking forward to when he meets Caroline.

For that one spot. Oh let's see what he says about that. But do you love the part where she's Like she looks over and she smiles and she c looks over at the ladder. Oh, I'll just go and fall off a ladder. I mean my backfire and I'll break my neck and die, but that happens later. That does die. You're right. That happens later. Eventually. Yeah. Yeah, that was pretty pathetic.

I thought like isn't there another way you can get a guy's attention? I mean you can't like can't you like fake being sick or something instead of like getting a falling off a ladder and breaking your wrist or I don't know, be like I feel like I'm getting sick. Well this was my doctor.

Oh yeah, that's the one. She couldn't milk the she couldn't milk that one as being But then what she does is she goes and she's like, Do you need a helper? I I need to like hound down my skills. Hound down, that's not a word. But um, you know. She has lots of skills that she needs to be using, I guess. Yeah, so she's gonna go be his assistant. Mm-hmm. So far I don't like anybody, apparently. That's all right. It's just that you're starting to develop

Well someone I do like Silverity. Yeah, she still seems to hold her character like uh we all like her. We all like Demelza. And and they are In secrets. She's secretly seeing Captain Blaney, thanks to Demelza. Yeah. Remember you asked, like, would you do that? Would you help her see him? But now look question. This episode

Yeah. No, because you have to think outside the box or look at the consequences of how what it can mean for the family, which in that case it meant a lot. And then Ross was not very happy. No, not at all. So then we get to the part where Doctor Ennis is treating Karen. Right? Of course, sir. I'll do anything you say, sir. I knew and never what'd you say? I never knew anyone could be so kind. Bar doing like the dry heaping thing right now. And he's like I mean you know, it's a ladies' attention.

Short ladies attend. Mm-hmm. She falls for it. So then we also have um later on the war leg and ball. Mm-hmm. So basically first of all

Jim's Tragic Death and Grief

J well, we should go before the Warligan ball, Jim dies. Yeah. That's really sad.'Cause you think, Oh good, they helped him escape, now maybe they can help him out but then he dies. Get him out of the cell. So what did he Um what sickness did he have? It was like eating up his arm and did it cut off his arm? Uh no, that was towards the I think that was toward they had they were gonna cut off his arm, right? They were going to, but then he dies before that, right? I couldn't remember what it was.

I feel like he was sick'cause he said don't don't breathe'cause you can get what he Like already contagious, isn't it like the um sickness that starts coming later on in the show? Oh, you mean the n it wasn't the it wasn't that? No, it wasn't more pulling strength of the torus. Whatever that is, okay. Oh. Formula strangulatorus or something like that. Oh my gosh. So I know. So you y so we see that they wanted to cut his arm, right? Did they cut his arm after all or not?

I'm gonna be honest, I had to slowly fast forward through that part because I can't handle like bloody um body parts. And his arm looked really nasty and so I was like I guess gotta slow fast forward because I can't see and I can't hear him scream when they do it. So I actually don't know if they really did cut off his arm.

Maybe they probably didn't'cause he probably died. He was he was such in a severe case that he died. I just remember the scene where they're like burning his their clothes, right? So Ross is burning his clothes'cause he Which is he burned his what was it? I burned he didn't burn his pants.

Wait a second, I'm like shouldn't you have burned all your clothing? And probably have washed his hair. He should have like taken a dip in the water. Just like when he went to go wash off from the lady n the lady of the night day. Remember? He could have gone to the sea and washed himself. Yeah, dander. Maybe he did and we just they just didn't show it. Mm-hmm.

High Stakes at the Warlaggan Ball

So anyway, so yeah, so he's upset about Jim dying and so then he does not want to go to this ball that the war legans are holding at all. But then Verity is kinda like you really need to do it just to save me. For your family and the other. You know, you'll be in a bad way if you don't with everybody, so he does it, but he's drunk already. Mm-hmm. He's kinda been drinking for a few days. Yeah, and I like how Verity tells Demolph of the cutest expression

How about you and I both help keep a lid on the powder keg below us? Yeah. Which I thought that was a funny way of describing it. Yeah. And then the icky old man that asked a mouse. He was all flirty with her. Uh yeah, he he had his eyes on her. Yeah. That was kind of the introduction of him and His eyes like zeroing on in on her. He's just old creepy guy. Just laugh. Don't like him. Don't like him. And then then Dramel's is basically getting attention from all the guys at the party.

Ross is going and playing cards and not paying attention. And you think and then he gets into a card game, a gambling game. Seems like he's losing bad. Yeah. And then you find out the guy's cheating. That was a good catch. I liked that. But he had to give like he had to really that was that was kind of a little bit like we were like oh gosh, is he gonna do the same thing as France's? Like I know. But then you see what he was doing and he totally

That Samson guy caught him in the lie. I at first thought, Oh, he maybe saw it the time before and that's why he was willing to gamble big but then when Demelza asked when did you figure it out? And he's like, you know, early on like in the game so So yeah, he did know what he was doing. But man, way to stress Demelza out and like everyone else. Yay.

And then do you like Elizabeth walking in the in the room, right? Oh she's like interesting'cause she's Geor um no, Francis has like the hooker lady that's hanging all over him and she like goes up to him was like, You know you need to give attention to your wives or something like that. And then yeah. Pay attention to your wife. Yeah.

And it it's sad that I mean, you know, even though Jamal's are like, Okay, she goes to this party, she's dressed pretty and she has that beautiful necklace that she gets at the party, right? Mm-hmm. But it's that Ross got for her. That was sweet of him. He bought her a dress and that necklace. That was sweet.

But then later on it's like she's having to figure out how to like save the family. Here we go, demelza to the rescue and she's like, No, no, not not not I don't know what he was gonna stake. It was it the mine or something else? I think it may have been and she's like, No, take the necklace instead. Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok

And then it's funny'cause it's everybody's falling asleep. Do you like that? During the game? They like Well, they've probably all been drinking by that point too, and they're just like, um But then when he says like Then everyone's head props up. Oh no he didn't know. Ooh he goes for him. Grabs the wrist and flips it over and there's a card in his hand. He pulls a Demelza pot like that. Just love that part. I thought it was great. That was pretty good. So apparently that was George's cousin.

Because even Francis was like that was a pretty bull move. Did you not realize like it was cousin? And he's like, Oh no, I didn't. So I think Ross even realized, ooh, poop, I probably shouldn't have done that, but'cause he probably just made it worse for himself. Yeah.

Lingering Drama and New Attractions

Mm-hmm. I don't know. I thought that was interesting. So it ends kind of on a sad note with you know, it's gems On the cliff. Yeah. Crying. Yeah. That's so sad. But he's and then um Ross is like, Yeah, it's the first day I've been sober in like what, three to five days or something like that. So at least it's getting And this is the episode two where Mark starts to realise you know

you know, the other people are telling him that K Karen is brazen. So then I remember she mentions it he mentions that to Ross. Mhm. And so it's kind of an interesting it's like, oh gosh, where where is this gonna go?

things steam up. Yeah. Another thing too I forgot to mention is how George is being all super flirty with Elizabeth. This is where you really start seeing like, okay, George likes her and he's not really hiding it either. He's being super And I think is this is the is this the episode where there's talk

Margaret being the one that brings down all these like great men, right? Yeah. Isn't it? And then I don't know if it's the uncle or somebody says something to him and his he's like, My tastes are far more refined. And that's who he was talking about with her. So he's got his eyes on Elizabeth. Yeah. And we'll we'll see what happens later on in the next episode. Mm-hmm. How he tries to situation not really helping Francis. He's helping himself out, basically. So that does it.

Yeah. Tune in for the next episode. Oh no, that was episode six. Oh yeah. Then we're moving on to episode seven. Sorry. I'm jumping ahead'cause I'm just going to be able to do that. We're just so excited to talk about the next one. Well, thank you for joining us. And we'll see yeah, we'll recap our next episode seven. So pretty juicy episode. Yes. We'll see where this goes and how things steam up or start. And so our theme song Oh yeah was And Dudley. Yeah, you got the name.

Oh yeah. I should have this memorized. It is Anne Deadly. Anne Deadly. Rearranged by Dan Gail. That's it. Hid it. Hit it.
