You're listening to the number one poker show in the land, and it's time for a new edition of the Poker Go Podcast Community Cards. I've had so many people come up to me like this world series, and I'm not sure if it's a same for you because you've been buried in commentary and like say thank for the podcast, you know,
obviously getting the hat. Lots of photos I posed for way too minute, more photos than I took on my wedding. I feel like I appreciate every one of you. I always say, you know, thanks for listening, et cetera. I think I've only taken three photos. I've taken three today, jeez, So obviously I'm much coolern't you. But I've met a lot of fans. Yeah, I've met a lot of people too that it really is awesome. I want to shout out two people. First, Guy
comes up to me. He basically kind of asked me for advice. Right, I don't read what he's done so farout the world series. His name is I hope this is you because this matches everything you told me. Jordan Smith. He's from the United Kingdom, cashing the classes sixteen hundred bucks many main event cash for forty seven hundred, finished sixty fifteen, Today's Independence State celebration seventy seven hundred. He goes to me, Oh, I'm not sure
if I should play the man the main event. I'm thinking about rolling my cash is in. Then he tells me these cash. I'm like, buddy, you just need to yollow this. Like you came to Vegas probably expecting to break everything. You've cashed a bunch. You need to play them.
You just He's like, oh no, so sure, I said fire the satellite, but you brought for ten k totally if you had it all up, yeah, like ten k prophet like, like, is he essentially free roly He's well, I don't know how many bullets he's in the clusters, so I don't know what else he's played, but he's essentially yes, up more than ten thousand. Yeah, so get in there. We haven't pulled Jeff, and we told Jeff the sorry and just like, yes you should
play. So Jordan Smith, if you're listening, got in my hat. Please be in there, sell some action, find a way getting there. One more guy. He walked past me twice. I'm pretty sure. And then he came. I was came and you know, introduced himself. Name is Michael Pentanella. Gave him a hat, told me back one forty five. Very good, very impressive, very good. When today today I think yesterday, he said, I want to read out. He's only sent me
an email with the picture we took. Hees, appreciate the hat, don't take any more of Donny's shit, and bring back the family part. Yeah, we haven't done family pint a long time, he says. Bug I'm going to wear I'm going to wear the hat. I have a strange feeling. I'm going to make the final table this year and bust Donnie along the way. So brush up your interview skills. He's coming for you. That's messed up, man, Michael. Wait wait what table did you get?
First day? Two? Yeah? Five, twenty six. Okay, this has been It would have been fake if you both at the same table. He's black eighty one. Anyway, thanks a little shout out good luck to Michael one hundred and forty five K on Day two ABC, Jordan Smith. Let's hope you get in and let's just keep running up to run the table. But anyway, that was just little little community cars and now we can touch on the big, the big stuff. All right, Well, I
guess we're gonna hit on the Independence Day celebration. First. We'll leave the main course, which is the main event for the end. So this is this number is right? Then thirty nine and twenty eight. Is that what we got? That's what you have here? No, because now the clock says something completely different. What does it say? It's forty two sixty straight. We'll go off what that says? Forty two sixty three entrants in the
Independence Day And what's happening. Well, it looks like we just declared a win on Frances Anderson, Francis Andson one from behind victory. I'm gonna go back to the heads up for chip counts. It was two hundred and seventeen thousand to fifty four sorry, two hundred and seventeen million to fifty four million of Francis Anderson. He doubled up with ace jack versus five's hit both the
jack, another jack and then an ace for Jacksville. Then he doubled into the chip lead with looks like pocket kings against top pair when all the money went in, and then the final hand. This seems like that happened within seven minutes. Brentley was only with Queen douce versus Anderson's pocket falls. The falls held. Francis Anderson, your newest wsp A bracelet winner and Ricip Francis lot around town, a pretty good player. Good to see him get the
victory. He's good. He's in that kind of friend group with like David Peters, Yeah, Shannon Shore, you know, all all those types of guys. I'm assuming he was at the big Unit party because that's what Francis Anderson so so yeah, good on Francis Anderson. Where did our buddy Martin's the money for seventh place Martins and Money Ari Angle thirty fifth mark say forty first men the Master win another deep run to do it Big Field Tournament,
eighty seventh place. I had no idea when the Master was good at Nolan Hold. He's the best he's literally the best player in the world right now, and that's all we have, right that's the only event that was lying today. Yeah, there's only one event signing tomorrow. It's it's very weird little tomorrow. I don't get it. They're running a one k no limit hold them now. I know, you say, like, hey, let's
have something that's a one k nolman hold of them. If it's a one k terrible done in one day, so people like me to chips and I can just fire into that and go to day event. I know that's silly, but it's also like those guys may take a shot in the main. It's also one d the biggest field. We're gonna need every table, every dealer, every four stuff. I put one team, man, I don't that seems a little bit weird to me. Yeah, anyway, so yeah,
that was Independence Day celebration the event today. Outside of the main event tomorrow, only one event that is the one kind of living had them and then we stopped building back up to finish off the rest of the schedule. But yeah, I think it's main event time. I mean it is main event time. Today was for sure main event time. I mean they were in both horseshoe rooms and there was overflowing Paris correcting tables. Daniel Legrodney started
over in past to feel help with Phil help me started there too. Yes, Wow, we'll go in the film with entrance. No, I didn't even see it, so I don't even know what happened to see it. I'll tell you what happened, Ben, You didn't need to see it. So are we allowed to go over these numbers? You're like the numbers like guardian are. Yes, I am, I'm very protective. Yeah, can you like go over them? First day we had a little bit under one
thousand players. Stage one by we had a little bit on a nine hundred players. I haven't talked to anyone today. I've just kind of done some digging. Seems like we're holding digging. I'm rubbaging. I'm counting the entry slips, you know, by hand. Looks like we're gonna fall under three thousand, so more than twenty twenty two, significantly by about one thousand, slightly less than last year. So kurrent right, we are tracking what did
we get last year ten thousand and fifty or something forty three? Looks like we're tracking at about we'll call it nine thousand, nine thousand. That would be the current projection with the with the short ulta over nine Wait, let me that would check this one hundred off. Sorry, not under nine thousand, just over nine thousand. Yeah, it's called ninety five hundred. Let's say ninety five hundred, yeah, which I think was my number, yeah
the whole time. I mean, listen, there's always a shot with Day one D, there's always a shot with the final starting flight that it can just be out of control. I'm also big on what you said with I think there might be more Day two entrance this year than like we expect, like we've hit the last two years. Sorry, last year on Day to ABC we had one hundred and ninety six entrance Day to Day two D five hundred before pretty much the same numbers. So I think we'll see a decent
increase in those this year. Like you know, we just mentioned off one of our close friends said he's playing Day to ABC, which is kind of we never would have thought that. So yeah, So the Day two entries two years ago were six fifty nine total between the two and then last year seven oh three, So a little bit of an uptick there, I would. I think I would expect that to be very much in line with last year, so right around seven hundred, if not tick up again to you
know, seven to fifty or so. I just think a lot of people are getting on that late registration train, especially with how much of a grind the WSB main event can be. You know, the structure is so so so good two hour levels, it's very slow. If you come in for day two, I think you start with eighty bigs and then if you max late it's fifty bigs. So I mean that's a ton of chips, right, So I think there's gonna be a lot of people that take advantage of
that. But yeah, I mean numbers are trending down slightly, but it's it's not anything that's like, oh my god, what's happening. They are trending above twenty twenty two, yes, which is a good sign. I mean last year there was a huge push for everything. So I mean, we'll see how Day one d goes. It felt like today, I played today. It felt like today when I was in the room that like this day was massive. Day one C and it was pretty big. I mean,
Tim's got twenty eight hundred written down here. I mean, I give or take who knows, but yeah, right right around there seems, you know, pretty close to where it was last year, which last year one C was three thousand and seventy five, So it is it is interesting to note that in twenty twenty two, Day one D had four thousand, three hundred and seventy. Last year, Day one D had four one hundred and thirteen. So Day one D actually went down from twenty twenty two to twenty
twenty three. Yet last year, of course, twenty twenty three, that's when they set the record smashed it. So that's kind of seem to note because Day one C was so large. So yeah, I mean, if they pull in, I think they're gonna pull over four thousand. That's what I'm gonna say. I'm gonna be optimstic about it. I'm gonna say over four thousand. So how much over four thousand, I don't know. We'll see. Pokernews dot com and w s P dot com both have Colin Beveridge
on two hundred ninety five thousand, five hundred. We'll see if somebody else comes in. You know above that we had a Zaie test him at like three point thirty at one point today. So whether they got a ship gone at the end of the night unless they've lost a lot. These aren't official, but you know, Colin Beverage bagged a pretty big stack, Yeah, bagged big two hundred ninety five point five. Friend of the pod, good friend of ours, Mo Nuwara. If you've been following poker, you likely
know Moe used to work at Poker News. I hired him back in the day. I think he spent seven or eight years there. Been around the industry for quite some time. He co hosts the Gridiron Gamble podcast with myself alongside Poker Roo podcast producer Rich Ryan and then also Brett Colson Quick a little shout out Great Iron Gamble podcast. Check it out where you listen to your
podcast if you're into football betting. But Mon Noir two hundred and seventy three thousand rushing, I mean he was texting me some of the hands that was happening for him. I mean, good lord, it seems like he made every straight in the world. I mean people might as well like I have just like picked their chips up and like walked over and like gave them to like don't even play the hands. It's like Arthur Morris backed a pretty big stars, real coach. Sure you go ahead. I heard he was non
stop chatting on the future table. Yeah, well so let's let's I wind it back. Let's wind it back. Arthur Mars was sitting on table black twenty eight in Paris, no one on it, really just athen Mars. We find out Phil Helm was entering. He draws Black twenty eight. So we're like, all right, will take this up to the feature table, and you know, by a right it was over there, keeg and he's like, yeah, we can put tables from Paris on the future. Oh
I didn't know that, only if it's really worth it. And Phil home with what's kind of worth it? With his entrance and we and we know also that Arthur is chatty, so yeah, yeah, so you know what you know he would like he would kind of engage with helmet to it. So author goes, I didn't know. I didn't expect to do on the feature table that I'm not really dressed. Well, do you have a hat for me? Can you get me like a T shirt or something? So I get him a T shirt? Arthur. It's the w s op main
events. Yes, stay one though, you come prepared. He you don't know. People are gonna be taking photos, videos, people are gonna be busting out their cameras. You don't know what's happening, so you got to be ready to go. I get him a PGT you know he plays Thatt PGT events. I get him a PGT T shirt, nice black T shirt with a gold PGT logo. And then I gotta get him a hat, so, of course give him podcasts hat. Of course cost so he puts
it on. He's up there on the feature table. He's already chipping up. He's dragon puss. He's talking about the hat. You know, I got people emailing me and tweeting at me. Where can I get this hat? And then he starts running his mouth about me, how I'm gonna play him, heads off, I'm gonna sell my house. Cannot wait to fucking tell Tim that you said I'm good at stut and I like, actually,
that's the most excitedment all day. He's been telling me he will sell his house, sell his mortgage, do whatever he can to find money to play me. Heads up and razor stuff. You know, I basically called atha we're talking about this on the tear the worst stud player in the world, So I yes, I am ready to back the truck up to play out the mouse. But anyway, they're on the feature table. We did feel homes sentience. Did you see any do you know anything? What happened?
Did you hear the music? Yeah? I heard the music. I got back to my table and I was like, okay, I wonder if I see him walking. But I didn't see him walk in at all, So I don't even know where he went or came from. He was kind of near the you know, the the canteen, the cafe. Then he came up, Yeah, through the gloss doors. Oh, he went through the glass and then he came up, skipped the other part, wipe the other room. And why didn't he come through? I was in the other room.
Yeah, five hundred people had their phones out ready to go to and he skipped out and then he didn't come in. There missed an opportunity. Well yeah, I mean so he did. He was wearing a karate combat ninja outfit, right, and he don't think it was at ninja fit. It was a karate outfit. I don't know what it's called, so don't. I'm trying to think, what's it called. My dad used to have one A gee. A gee, let's got a gee, That's what it is. So he was wearing that he had, I believe eighteen people with
him for eighteen Mike Madisal, Scotty Winn. That's all I saw in the photos. Shandon Elizabeth didn't know she would cared about poker. Joe Stapleton, that's okay. Sarah Herring, why I don't know, okay, friend of Richard Blankinship, okay. And some other people I didn't know. But they came up. Oh, Dan Kates, Dan Cats, they came up to
everybody was conquered fighting. Uh. They got into the stage and then I saw they did like a like a choreographed dance, and then he did like some like skit some fight on the stage and Dan Kates was knocked out something, and then they all dispussed and Phil started playing poker. See listen. I'm I'm not against the Phil Helmeth entrances, okay, And you know, I think ultimately they're silly, But I think a lot of people that are fans of poker like them. You know, I think there's a good amount
of the die hard poker people that probably hate them. And but I mean that's what you get with Phil. You know, he's very polarizing. You know, you love his stuff or you hate his stuff like that. That's just how it is. The good thing is they didn't do it during the level this time they stay. I mean, that's listen. He's the most decorated wsop player in history. You know, he's got seventeen goal racelets, right, he is essentially you know he'd doesn't have this title officially, but
he is unofficially mister Wsop. I mean, that's what he is. So if he wants to do some you know, Banana's entrance every single year, go nuts, But like they did this year, just pause the clock right and have them walk in. That's that's fine because when he's when all the nonsense is happening, he's coming in, the music's blasting, you know, no one's playing a hand and it's eating into the place. So just just pause the clock for five minutes, have them walk in and do the thing
and whatever. Now what else say is this? Phil? If you're listening, you know enough people and you you I think you have my phone number, give me a call, hit me up, have my email, because your entrances are an absolute disaster from a marketing perspective, like they're just they're not good. Like I don't I I am on the side that he should just keep doing these entrances. But like he is sponsored by or invested in
or whatever, is this karate combat thing? Like this was not a good entrance Like for that, what would you want him to have done if you were his if you were his pr manager, Well, he's a entrance campaign, uh direct that what would have you you know, I don't know, I'd have to think of something, you know, But it just it doesn't
seem like last year was Darth Vader. Well why well, yeah, I didn't make any sense, Like it doesn't make any sense, like you know that was two years ago or two years last year was the Ring Moss whatever. That is a line that also makes no sense. Like I mean one thing that I think has any of them made sense though, the NASCAR driver, the boxer, the are tied to his sponsors like this one karate combat, right, But I mean, I think people in martial arts will tell
you that karate and kung fu are not the same thing. What what do you mean the same, Yeah, you're an idiot, But like, I don't know, it probably could have just been done better. You know what my suggestion is is he should do it at a stot of play fall the shuffle up and deal, and then he does the shuffle up and deal and then it doesn't really affect that Tom doesn't slant anything bad. I think that would be cool too, But you know how he is. He doesn't want
to come in and play early. He never comes in and plays early. He always comes in around four or five, six o'clock or whatever. It is another thing that I think phel Hemuth could do, probably more so than anyone else in poker, or you know, maybe Nigran who's the other person, but Negrane would never do an entrance like this or whatever is I don't
know, is there a new movie coming out like that? Phil could like dress up as the character or walk in with the characters of the movie and then and then it's a you know, it's basically an ad for that movie, right, Like it's not a yeah, I mean, like I just don't listen. We know that he's sponsored by Karate Combat. Does anyone or do they just think he walked in trying to be a ninja or something with kung fu fighting blasting through the horseshoe speakers, like you know what I mean.
I mean, like, so it just needs to be fine tuned, right, and I don't always know what it is, but it needs to be fine tuned. I think I had a really good one last year or the year before, and now I can't remember what it was. But it just needs to be a little bit better, like more planned out, Like yeah, definitely more planned out. It just feels kind of all over the place. But you know, I think a lot of people like it. Again, I saw five hundre people pull their phones out and want a video
the thing, So you know, people are loving it. And the vibe that I got, I think you see two vibes. I think the majority of people that are here playing they like the entrance. Yeah, I think the majority of people that are vocal on poker Twitter hate the entrance, Like you know, that's kind of how I feel. I mean, yes,
there's people here that hate the entrance. Just there's people on social media that like the entrance, of course, but talking about the majority of those two sectors, and and you know, there was a lot of people here that wanted to get a visual of it, wanted to take photo of you know, people were saying like, this is great, you know, feels great. He does this thing. Yes it's a bit silly, but it is ultimately great. So you know, I heard a lot of that. But
we had helm with an Arthur Maris. They played two levels, kicked them off. He only bag. Do we know, Well, he got moved into here very late and I didn't quite check for let's sixty six seven. They're saying, well, I mean that's more than starting whatever. We moved him. We sent him back to the horseshoe because he's moved table had moved
in the whole shoe. We wanted to bring Daniel mcgranda well on the main stage, but Daniel grano was sitting with Larry Right and Tom McCormick was grinding about twenty big blinds and we didn't really want to pull him up there to have him bust in one hand and kind of be stuck with a non ideal table, so we left hampships. He did. He ended up I think getting up. I saw him get up to forty thousand, and then I think he ended up finishing with I don't know. It says eighteen k right
here, but I don't know if that's right. It's been eighteen k for a while, but I can't recall showing him busting on stream. We decided to bring table f our secondary table up to the main stage because they were having a what was it called table? Because it's well w it's funny. WSP used numbers they like one, two, three on the main stage and then four or five six on the horseshoe set. We pocado used letters ABC up here. That's all confusing. Anyway, we are We're pretty you know.
Now the number I just refreshed WSP dot com. Now the entry says seventy one hundred and seventy one. Mine says six seven eight two. Mine literally says seven to one seven one. I just refreshed. I believe you. I'm just pressing refresher at the same time. Wow, how are you changing? Six seven eight two six seven eight two six seven eight two. Anyway, we brought up table f the secondary table Arden show Hollywood actress Matt
Waxman. Race the winner Ben Lamb, who you've talked about with his impressive run in main events in the past. They went up. There a lot of discussion about the Curse of Jeff Platt and how Matt was trying to tell Arden that about the curse and that she shouldn't speak to him, and you know, I just I just quickly glanced at Twitter. Ben Lamb nine minutes ago my stack after giving Jeff Platt a hug curses over. I had an interview with Jeff Platt to day. It was where I was coming at.
He did talk to Arden they joke play better people. Yeah, I think that it's it's the time, and I did you know we're gonna I did speak with Arden off for the event. But maybe it's not longer the curse of Jeff Platt. Maybe it's good luck Jeff. That's my theory. That's my new working theory. I mean, how about people just play better? And and realized the fact that everyone but one person in a poker term is going to bust. That's just how it is. So so he gives more
the timing the fact that he interviewed Joshireh. He busted the next level kind of stuff. If you don't bust straight away, I don't think it can count. That's the far by the way they change the number back to six seventy two on my screen. Yeah, I think. I think when you're someone like let's use Josh Ari for example, you just get interviewed by Jeff Platt, you go back to your table, it gives you an excuse to probably play bad because then you can just blame Jeff Platt. I like it.
I like you just blame the interview. You can get in there, you start just blasting off here, there and everywhere. It doesn't matter. Maybe you call off your stack with second pair and then you say busted, just did an interview with Jeff Platt. Go figure, and you're off the hook because everyone's like, oh my god, Jeff Platt curse, when really it was your fault. We're playing really bad. Yeah, you probably full
bit shoved the Queen five off suit. Now listen, if lads are interviewing people and then people are getting it in with aces versus kings and people are hitting the king on them, then it's different, right, yea, then we can talk about this curse. But I don't know. All I see. All I hear out there is Jeff interviews people. People bust. We need details on how they bust because if they're getting it in bad, that's on them. You need accountability from the people claiming the supply is on it.
They're using it as an excuse. Yes, they are not being accountable for their own actions. Let Jeff Platte breathe. Let's go. What else we got? Well, should we play the interview with Autumn? Yeah? Yeah, Oh you talked to her? How a little bit chips did she bag? She bagged one sixty eight eight hundred. Well on wispuita conmas one hundred and sixty nine. That's not I saw what she was on the bag, one sixty eight eight All right, cool, Yeah, let's throw it
to Arden right now. I'm here with Audenshaw back one hundred and sixty eight eight hundred. I think let's go tell me about your day so far. It was fun. It was a little slow start, but exciting things happened, and I feel like we had a fun last hour or so, played some exciting hands. You just spoke with Jeff Platt. I want to know, do you believe in the curse of Jeff? No, we're gonna break it. I mean, Ben straight up hugged Jeff and he doubled up,
got a lot of chips. I talked to Jeff, and I'm still here. I gained more chips after talking to Jeff. I think when I spoke with Jeff at about one hundred and twenty and I ended the day at one sixty. So maybe we break that curse. So it's good luck, Jeff. It sounds like I mean, okay, let's not go so far. Okay, okay, good luck, good luck. Jeff is pushing it. But maybe we've broken the curse. Okay. I want to ask you. You know, you've been on out lots streams a lot before, and lot
of streams around the world. Firstly, I want to ask you, what do you dislike about playing up here under the bright lights? You know, I think before I disliked that everybody could see everything, and then you feel like you're being judged. Now I just don't care as much anymore, so I feel like I'm less worried about that. Maybe sometimes it's a little hot, but I actually don't mind. I think today was fun. I felt like a lot of the players at our table were actually really quite excited to
be on the feature table. It was their first time. So I do find that when it's rotating I think it gives an exciting experience for people who've not experienced it. And then, yeah, I mean it does bring a more entertaining element because everybody wants to like do something a little fun. And then you know, I spatz a little bit. I can't help it. You know, the cameras are on. Oh, I'm like, oh, I've got a bluff here. Oh I can't fold this, you know.
So for you personally, what do you love about being up here? Then I guess I guess I feel like it just makes the game more interesting. I think people play a bit different. I know I play very different when I'm on a stream. I don't know if it's good or bad, but it's definitely different. So I think it just makes them more exciting. I think, yeah, I think a little bit more fun than when we're just out there all right. Final thing for me, I want to put the
pressure on you. You seem to mock me a lot from my accent. We at huh and the listeners at home, we need to hear your best Australian accent right now. No, they're gotta judge me. They're gonna be like Auden, I'm so funded. That's pretty good. I have to anyway, Good luck Sunday day two, one hundred and sixty eight thousand in the bag, and definitely we make a run. Thanks Tim, I give you a lot of credit for you know, cooking me up with that emergency when
I was getting cold with the AC. Isn't it funny? It's so cold out there and then it's so hot out there. It's like you can't get a happy medium. Well, if you get cold out there, you just couldn't. That's true. You know what's great up here? The chairs. I might play out here longer for the chairs. Okay, So that's all I needed to get you a nice chow. Yeah, give me a nice
chair and I'll do whatever. I thought. It was funny yesterday when Plesnik was on the future table, then they broke that table and then he got moved back to the future table. That was I mean, it was probably was rigged. I mean, who knows. It was of course not rigged, but it was funny that had happened. Are these eliminations up to date? Damn, Bilsarian played true hands? You lost them? Oh my god, did you imagine the ticket? The golden ticket? You get drawing?
Damn Basarian's table probably just lit it on fire. He did. Who else busted? Gus Hansen gone, wow, so bound loosely gone, Sena raim Ran I saw it on Instagram. We're cool? What was a setting? A set? Maybe? I can't remember, Sean Dabe Are there is that other really coolers in the main event? Yeah, definitely, I mean I understand there's coolers in the main events. A nice as West as the King's
the cooler regardless of when happens. I mean, I don't know. Yeah, Shana ram Gone, Sean Dave sela team on Lucky, Dan O'Brien. He's my pig for random Player of the day, I know, but he usually comes out and plays the main only the main, but I mean still random for sure. When's the last time you think he cashed in something? I don't know, I mean he was I saw him last year for sure.
My random player is courtesy of Matt Clark, who my co captain of twenty five K Fantasy, was sitting literally right behind me talking about Ragged Now. That's right, we're right next to each other, back to back. He saw Tobias Rankemeyer. Yeah, that's pretty random. That's that's a random player. You know why. I saw that my random player of the day, Sean Perry was playing the main today. I thought he's playing tomorrow.
He sent a tweet about he's playing tomorrow. I mean maybe in the tournament area like he was playing, so I mean, definitely doesn't mean he's playing, no, I know, but he kept walking through, walking through, and I thought he was just walking around. So but still random that we saw Sean Pire. I haven't seen Sean Perry run poker in forever. Dan real quick on Dan and Bryan. He cashed in the rolling in the main event in twenty twenty three, then last cash before that October twenty nineteen second
event. So definitely a long look at the living the dream. Whatever doesn't he didn't you have like poky places here? I have no idea a poky place here anyway, Yeah, Dana, Brian, he exited puting out pun Street, shot in shaw Man Cobrell all eliminated on day one, seat of the main event, plus another probably eight hundred other souls. You know it was an eliminated. Let's let's talk about it. I'm gonna go guys, are gonna go home. I'll be back in an hour. Why don't you
ask me some questions? Why don't you be the interviewer? Sure, okay, how does it feel to It feels fucking great, I'll tell you that much. I mean, I've had it's my third time playing the main events, and the first two times, i mean, Day one's were a struggle for me. This one was fucking the best. So you sit down at your table, give us after an all bit of play, give us your impression, like what were you thinking. We're like, oh, this is
gonna be easy, it's gonna be tough, going your mind. We started seven handed, and the guy to my direct left, who you know, you kind of look at people when you first sat at a poker table and you you try and like have those first impressions and draw some conclusions, right, and you say, oh, like you see a guy who's like dressed like blinged out head to tell you like, okay, this guy's gonna probably be like loose, aggressive, lashy, right, you know, stuff like
that is what you do. You know, you see old man coffee over there, You're like, oh, this guy's gonna have you know, only aces, right, you know whatever. Guy to my left looked like it looked like he might give me some trouble. He was on my direct left. And then he says she starts dealing in the first hand and he's like, we we can't start. We're only seven handed. I'm like, oh, this guy's great. Like here we go. So he says that,
I'm like, no, we can start. He's like, what about these empty seats, like you only need four to start, Like we're I don't know whatever. I was like, I think it's for or whatever. It was like, you know, you can start. And then I said and then you know, players will come in throughout the day and like you know, lay registration. He's like, oh okay, And I was like, great, this guy's great. One guy had a GG poker patch on. Another guy had a club GG patch on. So I'm like this is great,
you know. I mean it looked like a really good table. Everyone was everyone, but two people were a little bit older. One was definitely younger than me. One might have been around the same age, maybe a little bit younger than me. Probably when you get older gentlemen at your table, you're probably feeling good as well. So yeah, I felt good about the table to start, you know, first orbit, like one guy four x's one guy limbs like I'm like, I'm like, yes, I'm like
this is perfect. Like I've been in the commentary booth for two days and I'm like, can I just get one of these tables? Yeah? And I pretty much got one of those tables. I guess let's fast forward to the h the hand of the day for you second level, look down at two little ices. Yea, So listen, I'm a pretty active player overall, and I had been playing a lot of pots. I had chipped up to like seventy five K, just kind of winning hands here and there.
And then I get aces and I was in the two seat and there was a player in the four seats who I could already tell was like gonna start messing with me. I got the vibes that he was good, and because I was being so active, I was like, I feel like this guy's gonna poss simply start like trying to put the hammer down on me and be like, hey, man, like you got a chill over there. So I open hijack. He hits me with three bed on the button. It
was two hundred, three hundred. It was the second level of the day. I make it eight hundred. He makes it twenty five hundred. It folds the club Gigi guy over the big blind looks at his hand. I mean, I've never been more sure that somebody had kings or aces in my freaking life. Like he looked at his hand and I was like, here we fucking go. I was like, this is it this guy. I was like, this guy's either going to show me the other two aces or
he's gonna have kings. I was like, this is it. And he had like I think he had like forty five k to start the hand. So he's one hundred and fifty, big steep. So I go eight hundred. The kid goes to twenty five hundred. Then the other guy goes seventy five hundred, and it's back to me, and I'm like, this is perfect. I've been very active. I've been in there like this is great.
I just prefer to play my hands most of the time, just pretty straightforward, like I mean, there's maybe some sort of argument here to flat, but I'm not gonna let the other guy come in as well. You know, I'm just gonna I'm just gonna play my hand basically face up and whatever that said. You know, I know, I think I had a good perception of my image and that I was I was active, so so yeah, I make it. Twenty eight hundred. Guy folds on the button.
This guy stuffs it in instantly. I mean, I call, he's got two kings and ace nine deuce. He's dead on the turn. And they were so yeah, shot up to whatever it was one hundred and twenty five thousand or so, chipped up to like one fifty one sixty pretty quickly, and then like there was like a moment when I got up to like I got up to one sixty, and then I played this hand where it went raised call I three about the button with Queen jack Off won this the
caller. The originaliors were folded. The caller call, and I couldn't tell if he was good or he was a younger guy. He was he came late to the table. I couldn't tell if he was good yet because we was early. He seemed like he might be good later on. I kind of have no idea. I still kind of have no idea. I lean that he's just whatever. It goes. Twelve hundred the guy four X, by the way, the original opener, it's two hundred three hundred's second level.
The guy four xes to twelve hundred. The other guy calls, I make it forty eight hundred on the button with Queen jack off. The original raiser folds. The other guy calls, it comes Queen nine seven. I think, or sorry, Queen eight seven with two clubs. I have the jack of clubs in my hands. Guy checks. I go thirty two hundred. He calls, so I think there's I think there was eighteen k out there. Turn is the ten of diamonds. It was Queen of Club's eight
a hard seven a club's ten of diamonds. He checks. I checked back rivers a six. He fires ten K. I call, he's got Ace King of hearts, Ace King high. I'm like, this is a random hand. What is happening? So I won that and which got me up to like one. I think I want another pot or two. I got up to like one seventy two. Then I proceeded to have three bluffs go wrong. I bluffed one time like it was it was just a horre.
It was a horrendous bluff for me. But I was like so in, like locked in, and like felt like I was I was super in control of the table. I felt like kind of doing whatever I wanted, and I mean, like nothing about this hand, the way I played it made sense like I didn't have any good blockers, Like it was just it was literally just me saying, like these guys have not called me all day, I'm just gonna keep doing this and getting out of line. So I got
completely out of line. Not only did I get called by one guy, called by two guys. The board was paired. There was a flush draw on board. One guy called the nut flush. I called the second nut flush, and I just mucked my hand and whatever. So that happened, and then so the table season I three, but the Queen jack off right then they see this bluff fail. Then I had another bluff that didn't work.
Then Jeff comes and talks to me, so it was like all kind of in this like he didn't do the he Jeff did an interview with me later on in the day, but this time he just came and talked with me, and they like filmed me while he did like an update behind. So it was kind of and like one guy at the table was like who are you and like I've had this happen to me before, Like they come take photos of you or whatever, and instantly everyone thinks you're like a big
name pro. That's what they think. And the guy's like, who are you? Are you big pro? I'm like no, I'm not a pro. He's like, like they don't believe you. He's like, are you a pro? I'm like no, I have a job, like I play for fun. Like yeah, He's like are you sure. I'm like yeah, because I work with that guy, Like that's why. That's why,
like he's you know, putting the camera in my face or whatever. So and then another guy at the table was like, I thought that was you, like being like I thought you were Donnie like the commentator and whatever. So it's this whole thing. So now I'm like I showed on the Queen jack off in a three bet pot. I have these two bluffs that don't work, and like then the cameras are on me. So I'm like, great, I'm not gonna be able to do anything. Now. I end
up getting back down to like one forty. After all that nonsense happens, And at this point, the kid in the four seat is like really giving me trouble? Yeah, I mean he's got a perfect seat on me. You know, every time I'm on the button, he's in the big blind. And what was funny is that I probably raised ninety five percent of my buttons today. It just it just broke in the fact that when I had
the button nine times out of ten, it folded to me. And I had a hand that I would raise like always, so I'm just raising and like this kid, like eventually he was started three betting me. He started just like calling check raising flops. So like I had to adjust to him because I knew he was adjusting to me. So it was kind of a whole thing, but he was kind of in the in the perfect spot overall. Then I I played this hand where like I was, I was over
this kid. I had like one hundred and forty two k and like he had been three betting me a few times and whatever, and like you know, check raising flops and doing all this different stuff to like try and attack me, and I could tell that he was good and you know whatever, and so it folds to me. I have King seven of clubs at I believe we were playing three hundred five hundred. I make a twelve hundred on
the button with King seven of clubs. He calls the big blind. It comes Jack of spades, eight of clubs, five of spades, he checks. I bet one K. He check raises to four K, and I'm just like I'm I'm like, I'm over this kid. I'm like, I'm winning this hand, and I don't like I'm either. I said to myself, I'm either winning this hand or I'm gonna lose forty five K, Like
that's what's gonna happen here. I already I already knew it in my head, and like I was also like, I was like, this is a point when I should probably just fold because I know what I'm doing and I'm about to like blow up. But I was like, you know what, No, I was like, I think this kid is messing with me, so I'm gonna mess with him. So I call in position with the King, King high King, seven of clubs, turn as a queen, a
red queen, which I think is kind of good for me. He checks, I go small four K, smallish, you know, compared to what had happened. He calls River, pairs the five. He checks, I go eighteen K. He tanks for like forty five seconds and folds. But I was just like no, like no, we ain't doing this no more. Then him and I played another hand later on when I raised the cutoff, he three bet from the small blind. I had king jack of diamonds. I call him position. It comes Queen nine seven with the nine of
diamonds. He bets really he was. He was like continuation betting, like super small, like like ten percent pot, fifteen percent pot. So he bets small. I call turn as a seven of diamonds. So now my back door diamonds are starting to come in. He checks. I checked. Back river is a black deuice. He goes small. He bet like five k into like twenty one k. Before he was over betting rivers. He
overbet rivers at least three times before this. One time he had the nuts against some guy who he was for sure just abusing the fact that he knew he could overbet against this guy. And the other times he didn't show down. So I was like, you know, he could eat. I thought that he was thought that I thought that he would over bet bluff. So then he decided to size down really small as a bluff. That's what I
was thinking. But I was trying to like think of his bluffs, and then I was also like he could be bluffing with the best fucking hand, like if he just has like fucking ace five here, like something ridiculous, Like he's just gonna win whatever I called. He had the same hand. He had king jack, but I was like, I was like, you know, he could probably have like some king tens stuff like that, like so you know, I was like, all right, whatever, i't's call.
It was cheap enough whatever. So there was that. Yeah, I busted some super super short stack in the final level three hundred and six hundred. He had six K folded to me in the small blind. I just put him all in with Queen eight. He had eighty six and I hit an eight. Yeah I had. I had like one hundred and fifty five K when they paused the clock, I'm in a hand when this happens, So they started announcing I win. I win that hand, and then they
announced four more hands. The first one I three bet, it goes, it goes raise call. I three bet and win that one. The next one I three bet and win it again. The one after that, I raise and take it down, and then I folded the fourth one because I was like, no, one's going to fucking believe me for this one. I'll just I'll fold my nine. I had nine to four off. I was like, I'll just I thought about it, but I was like, you know what nine to four off? Like, I mean the other ones
I had. I had. When it went the first hand of the final four hands undo, the gun raised guy in the load hijack called, I have king jack off. It's perfect handed, three bets, three bet, full fold. Then the next hand, the guy in the one the ninth seat, who I couldn't tell if he was good or bad. Still have no idea now that he was. He was definitely not bad. I just
couldn't tell, like if he was just meh or like actually decent. Yeah, he was probably decent and just doing different things, and it was it seemed off anyway. He opened. I looked on and see ace ten off, boom, three bet, let's go. He calls it comes ace ten deuce with two clubs. I'm like, this is great. Why just one on the floor. He folded And the next hand I just raised with queen nine and everyone folded and then that was that and then I folded the last
hand. So what'd you end up? At but I like, I like made fifteen k like the last fourteen care or whatever it was, the last like few hands. So I ended one hundred and seventy three thy three hundred, which is just about my peak because I peaked right around one hundred and seventy two or something like that earlier. So yeah, it feels good.
And I'll tell you man, even when you get it all in with aces the second level, I mean it's like, here we fucking go, like, yeah, this guy just put in one hundred and fifty big lines. Let's fucking go. One guy today, I think he's David Moses was all in with ices versus King's prey flump fucked the set, lost the Broadway on the river. Yeah, I think I saw that somewhere. Yeah, yeah, I mean it's like, yeah, you know that this stuff can happen,
but you're just here there you have the nuts. I did have a hand where I folded the third nuts. Oh so in rabbits As style. So this no, I'm probably got that reference. This guy under the gun, he had a gig patch on. Believe he was British. I don't know. I think we were playing three hundred, five hundred he made it twelve hundred. He raised. I called button with ace eid of hearts. Big Blind called the big Blind was my friend that had given me trouble off
fucking day. The flop comes Ace ten four rainbow, no heart out there. Uh, he made a twelve hundred on his race. Big Blind checks, he's he bets twenty four hundred. I call big Blind, folds turns a ten, he checks. I checked back, rivers a ten. He leads fifty four hundred. Support again, Ace ten four ten ten. Yeah, he leads fifty four hundred. On the river, I have ACE eight.
I raise to fourteen. Part of my reasoning for raising is like there's a fucking chance that this guy folds an ace like it's the main event. These people don't like, like they don't want to put their money in. Yeah, so he like kind of after like raise fold. I'm raisefold, Yeah, sure, I mean, but so he starts like hemming and hauling like he's in pain, and I'm like, okay, Like he has an ace, right then he clicks it back to like whatever, like he literally
like clicked them in like he made it like twenty seven or something. I don't remember when he made it, and I was like, all right, whatever, fold did you find out? No? But I mean he fucking he has the other two aces or he has ace. He has some ten? Yeah, probably ace ten, like you know, I mean, who knows, maybe he has he just went nuts with an ace. But I
I thought he would have just like sid called an ace. But I'm gonna give my chance to beat him off a hand like and listen, maybe he maybe he's like getting out of line when he decides to take that line with like kings, you know, so whatever, maybe you can get a kind of a crying call from there. I mean I didn't think that that was
likely, very very very very small chance of it. You know, I just thought most of the time, he probably just has an ACE here, and you know, I can just give myself an opportunity to like blow him off a chop basically with a race, because these people just don't like to call and you can just make them very uncomfortable. But then once he clicks it back, I mean, he he probably has the other two aces or he just has a ten somehow, which is fine, not a big deal,
but that's where you get a man. You see all these people going broke and you know, just you just you just raise fold the third nuts. That's what you do. It's the main event. Man, that was a main event full any other tournament, No, that tournament. Yes, it's different. It was a good day overall. I felt super in control on everything. Only really had that one guy who was giving me some trouble. But other than that's very happy with the day. Of course, getting
aces to Kings, a lot of my bluffs worked. You can fall into the money. That's the best part. No, I can fold to them. Don't even need to show up one day too. You just don't make the money. I was altered to fold to the money with one hundred and no idea. I have no idea. It's pretty I think it has. It's got to be close. I mean nah, if I stall, yeah, you have to do taking forty seconds every fucking action. I mean listen.
I felt really like locked in. I was very comfortable with the fact that I was going to do whatever I felt like was right in given situations. So like, there was times when I did some things or I might have bluffed when theory might have said, like no, you shouldn't do this, or you shouldn't do that. But I was like, you know what, the it's the main event. These people just fold, so I just would like go for it in a lot of spots. And it helped. You know, you pick up five K here, six k there, like
you're just chipping up, chipping up, chipping up. You know, that sort of thing can kind of pay off. I mean, listen, obviously the guy had kings, yes, but like it also helps, you know, I mean I got, first of all, the first guy three met me, you know, because I was opening a lot, so you know, it's stuff like that. Very very happy with how it started. And yeah, let's hopefully we can not make this start go to waste. That's the that's the plan. Obviously, it's going to take a good table draw,
which I actually think we can look up part of. I mean they have B and yeah, but they didn't they took down B. It's right here. Oh, they just uploaded. I was just looking for her. That's why Bob Ruk Adams was at my table. No idea who that is? Non Zang is also at my table. John Sall who Nick Seward is
at my table. Nick Seward is a good player, but I've played with Nick a lot around the wind and then David Brosh Sheher John Sewell's got one hundred and eleven K, Nick Seward's got fifty K, David Brosh s Hear's got twenty a K. What about this other table? Baruch Adams sixty one K and non Zang has twenty four K. So it feels like a good spot. So yeah, I'm not gonna hate it, not gonna hate it at all. Hopefully it just continues to get really good. Hopefully I continue
to make some hands. You get any other questions from me? You're supposed to be interviewing me, do you fucking just talk? You feel helm with you know, basically feel helme ask me any question? I know, I I think I definitely need to get better at that. I think we went through everything pretty well. I'm trying to think if anything like weird happened or kind of wacky, like just at the table in general. I mean,
one guy was a giant prick to everyone. I mean, these people like that, they don't even like realize that they're just being like pricks, and he was kind of prick. What's your what's the what's the biggest prick move in while playing poker? Because I have one. I mean not that I do it. I have one pet pave prick thing. What what what was he doing? Somebody said, I can't remember if I don't think he was actually in the hand. He was new to the table at this point.
He came late and somebody bet the river and said eight and put out they said eight before they put the chips out. They said eight, and they put out two five K chips, the best fucking eight K. And he I think there's a I think, you know, our best friend Mats Savage will tell us. Matt Savage will text us and let us know. I mean, listen, I think it's there might be a rule, right,
and Matt can tell us the rule. But yeah, it's also it's one of those things where it's assumed that like you just you kind of know what the pot is, Like you can see the pot. It's it's probably ten k, let's say, And the guy's putting out ten K, so like clearly he means eight K. Now, if you want to like go buy the fucking book, maybe it does say it's eight hundred, right, something that I've wondered. Actually, let me tell the story and then I'll tell
you about what I wondered. The other guy folds, and then this new guy says, you got to make sure you say eight eight thousand, like just unprompted, and we're like, we're like, what do you mean. He's like he's like, he's like, if I bet if you call the floor right now, they'll rule it whatever. And I almost wanted to be like, I'll bet you simply because I know how the floors are like kind of making all these different rulings and like they probably be like listen, it's
assumed that it's whatever, blah blah blah. I feel like that is I would take those chances to like win the bet. But I just say they're quiet because I didn't want to get into it. The guy he seemed very angry at the time for no reason. Yeah, He's like and he was like talking very like sternly to the guy. He's like, I'm just trying to be friendly with you, just like you don't sound friendly at all,
like you know, who cares. We all assumed that it was fucking AK, and it was AK like he's like, well, you're gonna pot with me. I'm gonna call the floor, okay, then call the floor. Well what do we care? Then there was another time later on when he asked the server for a water. He said, do you, like, do you have any waters? And the server kind of like, first of all, it wasn't our server, which I know how these servers are because
my wife works in this industry. Like they get so frustrated with all these stupid poker players all the time. And anyway, the guy like kind of like showed his tray to show that he had no waters, and the guy was like, so, do you have any waters or not? And it's like, bro, he doesn't have any waters. He's like he's like, well, I can't see behind those two bottles or those two coffees or I'm like, dude, oh my god. Like bro, he got mad at
the kid earlier, the same guy. He he plays his hand against the kid, you know, who was like clearly like in there splashing around. I think it was a three bet pot. The kid raised the guy three bet. The kid called, and the flop was ten seven whatever ten seven three. Let's say the term was a queen. The river wasn't eight. The kid had jack nine, okay, so he flopped a gutter and there was there was The guy bet the flop, and the kid called with the
gutter and he also had backdoor clubs because he had jack Nanna clubs. And he gets there and he like he this is when he bet. He bet big on the river. He bet like eighteen k, and the guy like went off like you a gutter in a ten k ten thousand dollars buying a gutter well, and the kid's like, I had a feeling, and then I jumped in to like needle the guy even more. I was like, yeah, isn't that all why we signed up? Because we all had a feeling, like, you know, and the guy's like, the guy's like
jack nine jack nine gutter gutter he was. He was I think he was from Turkey, so he was like not you know, his English wasn't perfect, so it was it was quite funny. And me and the kid are like looking at each other laughing because like we're both trying to like get under
his skin. Wore. And then after that, the guy's race sizes were like jacked up way more like you know, he would, you know, he would three bet kind of normal for that now he was like, you know six x three bet like five x open, like you're not getting in there with the jack nine like it was just the whole thing was funny. So there was that. Something that I always wondered is, let's say we're playing. The blinds are three hundred five hundred, Okay, I raise you
call. Now on the flop, I throw out a one K chip. Why isn't the bet five hundred if I don't say anything? If I just throw the oversized chip out, because they have like these oversized chip rules for other stuff, but they don't have it for that. Like in that case, if I were to throw out a five K, the dealer would say five K, But why wouldn't the deer say the BET's five hundred, like because I'm not declaring anything. So I'm just I'm just curious that why that's
the thing. And then you have oversized chip for other things. Yeah, I don't know. I just always thought that that was interesting. Tell me what your like biggest pet peeve annoyance? Change, dude. I was gonna say, mine is changed too, not giving like people like have like lots of ships and like, you know, you know, I mean, I
was the banker today. Something that annoys me about change specifically is so when you're because of the big blind anti you have to put exact change after the ants, which is fine, right, so you know, you make change whatever. Like sometimes I'll see like people put their chips out and I'll just like grab it and make the change and move it to move the game along. What bothers me, though, is the people. Let's say you're playing three hundred and six hundred, okay, and somebody only has one case,
so they put out two one k's in the big blind. Okay, well, I'll break down the one one case so you can pay the anti, right, and then they say, oh, can you break this one down to listen, you don't need the second one broken down? Okay. Also, now let's move on to the next hand. You're in the small blind
with three hundred. They only have let's say five hundred, and they don't have any ones they they want the five hundred broken, bro, Just put the five hundred out there, the dealer will break it from the pot like that. That little stuff frustrates me because just the way that they do it like kind of slows things down. Yeah, I might, I get that's frustrated me, but I I'm also with you where people like you ask people for change and they look like you're like fucking trying to steal their baby.
Yeah, it's like just give the fucking change so we can move the game along. This time is like the loss of it, not the classes, the Poker News Apsacks Championship. I didn't have any chips, but I remember this guy was like putting out, like you know, a one K chip and I had like eleven blacks, but like I just broke it, like you know, like they you know, dealers, like they kind of put it in front of someone and they kind of move it around the table.
Like the change. I just do it straight away, like you know, like this is kind of get a moving on. Like yeah, like I'll like i'll give change if like like let's say somebody somebody is looking for a five hundred broken down and I only have five blacks, I'll just give the change because I just want to move the game a lot. Like it's not you know where other people are like I only have five, Well I don't care. Can we just move this along please? Like let's go. But
that's it. Yeah, that's the main event. Day one C. I hope I run deep good start really really good face with this. I have no idea. I can't remember. Did you buy any on poker Steake? Well I think I did well? Then no you don't. Yeah, I hope, I hope it just continues like this for the entire event, because it was fun. Did have some tough hands, but didn't seem overly tough. Everything seemed pretty easy. Gonna be hopping back into the commentary booth tomorrow,
looking forward to that. We had Daniel and Phil Daniel Legrandi and Phil ham with played today. So what's what's the star power on one d I mean IVY feature tables, IVY, probably a lot of American pros that you know, recovering from July fourth or taking you know, today off. Yeah, I'm just I'm just curious, you know, because I mean, Daniel on filler the biggest straws for sure, WHOA definitely find someone. I'm not really worried about it. I mean, listen, I'm looking forward to tomorrow.
I can't wait to see how big this number gets. Of course, we won't know the final numbers until all the day twos are played. So yeah, stay tuned to the Poker Go podcast, and don't forget guys, get those reviews in there's a lot of people that they must have mentioned the hats and stuff on the broadcast. Yeah, yeah, people were like emailing
in. Here's the deal. We only have a limited number of hats, okay, so you can't just be going crazy, and we like to We like to give them to people who are here who hit us with family Pot. That's the priority. Those people are getting it first, yeah okay, and then after that people can get them. So here's here's what I'm gonna put some rules in place. If you would like a podcast hat, then you can leave a review, send it in and request a podcast hat.
But there's no guarantee you get one if you are not here, because we will give them out to people here at Horseshoe Slash Paris if they see us and give us the passcode. The passcode is family Pot. You guys know that. So let's say you're Joe Smith. You leave a review, you send it on into podcasts at pokerg dot com, and you also ask for a hat. Joe Smith will get a hat if we have hats left over. If we run out of hats giving them to people here, then Joe
Smith, I'm sorry, you're out of luck. Those are the rules. Okay, So we're not going to be sending any hats out until after the World Series of Poker if we realize that we have a surplus, If we have extra hats, we will send them out in the order that people got their emails in for the reviews. The reason is, listen, we want to meet you guys. We want to see you here, shake your hand and talk to you, find out your story, and then we want to
give you the hat. Hopefully you put it on and go make a tournament like our guy May our final table, like our guy Manny the Og, like our guy Lou the other Og. Like that's real sweet. Look, that's what we want, right, that's what we want. We want to hear. We want people running deep with the hat on. Okay, Arthur
Morris bagged a crap town of chips. I think he bagged over two hundred, right, so and he got it because I basically talked a lot of shit about him on the podcast, and the listener still he put the hat on. It ran hot, yeah, ran hot. Yeah. So so yeah, that those are the hat rules. Okay for the summer. That's what we're doing, all right, that's gonna do it for us. My name is Donny Peters, his name is Tim Duckworth, and we'll talk to you guys later, so yeah,
